We recently hosted a bonfire and were shocked when Walmart announced that they were out of firewood. Hilltop Liquor came to the rescue with a batch of affordable firewood and starters. This spot is close to the beach, easy to access, and offers a good amount of parking. Love having a non-chain option in the neighborhood!

This review is for staff member Michael (I hope I got his name correctly from his name tag; he is from France ). My brother is visiting from another country and wanted to buy a few bottles for his wine club. We know Hi-Time has a great selection. He asked a staff member for a specific wine bottle and he said they didn't have it. They spent a few more minutes talking and the staff member left without any convincing recommendations for my brother. My brother kept looking and then Michael showed up. Not only he found the wine he was looking for initially, but he also made some other great recommendations. The whole interaction was polite, friendly, interesting, and enjoyable. My brother walked out of Hi-Time with a smile. Thank you, Michael!

We were greeted immediately by a friendly man with a headset. I requested the object of my search and he lead us into the depths of the cleanest most well-stocked liquor store I have ever imagined. He was apologetic when they did not stock the Negroni, but luckily they did have all of the ingredients. I located the Campari, they had an amazing selection of gin, and the sweet vermouth was a great price! Needless to say, I had a lovely afternoon. One thing I loved was that if you stand near the Roasted Loaded Potato and Baby Mini Donuts booths, you get such a good view of the HB pier and the ocean! And bonus points if it's during golden hour! What a sight!! Food-wise, my friend and I ended up getting a Roasted Loaded Potato with cheese and bacon bits. We forgot to add seasoning (whoops ), but the bacon bits definitely added great flavor! We also ordered a Carne Asada Burrito from one of the taco stands, and it was so nice that they were able to customize it and cut it in half so we could share. The meat was super juicy and the cheese had that perfect "stretchy pull" when you try to take a bite lol. So much flavor!! As for samples, I got to try the Cinnamon Explosion from the Baby Mini Donuts booth and it was phenomenal!! There was also a Coconut Water booth where I sampled their Coconut Coffee, an interesting combo, but honestly something I'd come back and try again at full size despite not being a big coconut person. Well, why list that you close at 2 then? Why did I drive to this particular shop based on your own Google listing with your hours clearly stated, only to be turned away 15 minutes early? Do NOT count on this place when you're in a pinch. Furthermore, the prices are sky high compared to other shops on Adams and Brookhurst. Judging from the review score, it appears I'm not the only one who has had a terrible experience here.
