We took our four selections outside to one of their pavilions and enjoyed them, looking out over their vineyards. We tried two of their sparkling meads, the P.O.G and Juniper/Spruce Tips/Lemon, and two of their traditional meads, Druid and Jester. We liked the Juniper... and LOVED the P.O.G, so much so that we bought a bottle of it on our way out. The traditional meads were very heavy, kind of like a thick port. If you should find yourself in the middle of nowhere, this is a great place to stop, rest, and get your bearings.

However, today I was excited to find the Rebel Hive Meadery while browsing in the Fairgrounds Farmers Market! This was the first weekend they were open for business. Mike and Ryan were informative, helpful and welcoming. Ryan poured samples of their meads for tasting. I'm not going to attempt a mead review, as I'm inexperienced and was focused on simply tasting their basic mead, called "It's Not You, It's Mead". It was positively delicious! With my best French accent... "It was bright with hints of Concord grapes!". Haha, actually they assured me that there are no grapes in this mead! If I had less self-control I would have walked out with twice as many items, but I snagged their beautifully designed beeswax wrappers and some delicious ambrose honey. They also had some lovely candles, beauty products, and even materials for setting up your own apiary! The woman manning the store was not the beekeeper, but she was extremely nice and very knowledgeable about how everything is made. We were offered a tasting of the different mead flavors they had, and they were all so delicious and unique. She told us in a few weeks they would have many more fruit-infused flavors, so be sure to visit soon and see what they have in store!

They have free tasting which is now allowed. I tried the straight up version ,"It's not you, It's Mead, which is a true essence of honey but not cloyingly sweet. The" Just a Simple Boring Name", made with Chamomile and Lemon Drop Hops , is like a perfect cup of tea with honey and lemon. My final selection was the Black Currant Mead. It is dry and has a nice kick with 13.5 % alcohol. Delicious wine that would match with many savory foods. I also purchased a bottle of raw honey made by Lisa's Bee Farm in nearby Birdsboro. It is only available this time of year and is absolutely delicious on toast. Lisa was there today and was very friendly. This business has just opened during a difficult time and can use all the support they can get. You will get an excellent product and will be supporting a new local business. You will be glad you did.

I'm the first to admit that my exposure to, and my knowledge of mead is significantly more limited…read morethan other adult beverages. But I have really enjoyed what I've tried from Stonekeep. I've enjoyed visits to both their Fleetwood and Jim Thorpe tasting rooms. I really dig the medieval vibe. It makes both locations feel unique, and not quite like your typical tasting room experience. This is the type of place you would bring someone if they were visiting from out of town and we're looking for something off the beaten path. While Stonekeep produces both wine and mead, it is the latter which truly stands out. My favorite selections are the Red Raspberry Melomel and the Blue Muninn. Both offerings are absolutely delicious, and an excellent way to introduce someone to mead who may not be familiar with the drink. Both are excellent on their own, but really hit a whole new level when paired with chocolate. Consider busting out these meads for your after dinner course when entertaining at home. Or, if you're by yourself, feel free to pour yourself a glass and sit in front of the fireplace.

They host several festivals throughout the year, and I had the pleasure of attending the Caribbean festival yesterday. Even with the rain and cooler weather, it was STILL a great time. The energy never dropped. Everything was very well organized from parking, to the wine samples, vendors, dance floor, and stage setup. You could tell a lot of planning went into making the experience smooth and enjoyable for guests. The music, food, and overall atmosphere made it easy to forget about the weather completely. This was my second time here, and it definitely will not be my last. I'll 100% be returning.

Why haven't I written a review until now is a mystery but, oh well.. Lol This past Weekend, they did something totally different. They had a tribute to 50 years of "go-go" instead of the aforementioned reggae fest. With that said, Rare Essence performed Saturday and the Junk Yard Band did their thing Sunday. Me and my crew grew up on Essence so Saturday we converged. The forecast for severe afternoon t-storms almost made me stay home, but I've been given a lot of flack from my homies for bailing because of weather so I was determined to push through :) I'm glad that I did. It rained STRONG for about an hour in the middle of the festival, but after that, the headliner performed and cranked like it was 1990! Talk about nostalgia.. Omg!! We had a ball! Full disclosure, it was about half the normal size crowd, so I'm not sure Linganore will take that type of money loss in the future, but thanks for the memories.. I definitely needed that!!!
