Pretentious. Walked in and was told without no reservation no indoor seating despite being with a wine club member. No other patrons at any of the tables all with reserved signs on them. Another group 20 years older than us walked in saying they are wine club members without a reservation and the response to them was no problem choose any seat. read more

A cool winery and vineyard in the shadow of Catoctin Mountain, ample outdoor seating is a welcome reprieve from the cozier inside seating of the tasting room. The pricing here seems a little inflated, but there is a good quality to the wine and the people are friendly. I look forward to being able to come back at some point and try more of the wines, but in this trip I tried the teroldego (an Italian varietal that you don't find a lot in the states), the cab franc, and the adagio (a cab franc blend). All were good...but they might like them a little more than I do based on price. read more

Love stopping by here for a glass (or bottle) of wine no matter the season! They very often have events with food truck. Most recently I came here for a holiday market in December with vendors selling local goods, live music, fire pits and a dop pizza brick oven food truck vendor. The wine is delicious and reasonably priced. They have a small amount of seating indoors and plenty of outdoor seating. What's better than cozying up near a fire pit with a glass of wine on a winter day! Especially with the Mountain views you get at Catoctin breeze! read more

I have to be honest, I'm not much of a wine lover. Tito's club soda and lime please and thank you. That being said, Catoctin Vineyard is beautiful! Cute tasting room. Small but mighty. I do wish there was more room, it became quite crowded. Also, maybe some bottle openers, varieties of glasses for sale. The seating area, surrounded by the vines, gorgeous! Plenty of seating, enough distance between tables. Love that they are pet friendly. It was so fun watching the different breeds of dogs. On to the wine, I tried 2 and those 2 were very tasty. I ended up bringing one of each bottle home. Pet-Nat a Sparkling and Bolero a Red. I really, really like the Sparkling. I may not be a wine drinker but I'm definitely a Champagne fan! Lived in France for a few years when I was younger. The Pet-Nat reminded me a little bit of Champagne. $184 for 4 bottles of wine & 3 glasses. Who knew wine was pricey! Not me. But I didn't pay so I'd say, very much worth it...HA! Overall a great visit and I'd definitely return. read more

I had a lovely tasting here the other day with some friends. Not all of the wines were my taste but they were all good quality. I got one bottle to take home because it was some of the best Maryland red I've ever had. It's a small tasting room but cozy with the fireplace and live music. There's outdoor seating and a large fire pit. Apparently there are sometimes smaller firepits to sit around and food trucks on weekends. You can picnic inside which is a bonus! read more

The first thing I saw that I liked was the adults only 21 and over sign. I prefer to enjoy my wine without children running around. The tasting room was small but nice with stone fireplace and high ceilings. The tasting was 6 dry wines for $20. The person pouring was knowledgeable and friendly. Most of their grapes are estate grown but they do outsource from other Frederick County Vineyards. The wines were all very good and it was impressive to see that aside from two dessert wines, all they offered were dry wines. The three of us in our party each got a glass of our favorite wine and went outside to sit under the shaded pergola and enjoy the view of the surrounding orchard, cornfield and vineyard. My only complaint is that the tables under the pergola were on grass and not a patio and the grass had not been mowed and was very high and wet with dew. Other than that it was a very pleasant afternoon at a very good winery! read more

It was a beautiful day to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to live music outside! We often visit this winery on our travels to Gettysburg. They offer tastings, I opted a small pour of the symphony (2021, white) and the Rose. Loved the rose, good and dry, and beautiful color! Took home 2 bottles of symphony and rose. We packed our cooler with cheese, crackers, and hummus which we enjoyed under an umbrella on picnic table. We were immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman who offered help on where to go, and how to order. Much appreciated, I remember my first time at an unfamiliar winery so it's always nice to be greeted! There is always a food truck on premises as well if you don't want to pack! Catoctin Breeze is located among some of the most beautiful scenery in the area! The outdoor seating area is fantastic for a nice day with nature, although I wish they had more seating that was shielded from the sun. They have live music frequently, which is a big draw to many but I always find live music to be too loud. We sat as far away as possible so that we could still speak to each other at the same table without screaming. The wine tastings inside were great to decide what I wanted to bring outside and drink. I am certainly not a wine connoisseur, but I thought the wines I tasted were pretty good and everyone found an option they liked. Also LOVED that they are dog friendly, I definitely hope to come back here again and bring the pups! read more

I had a very poor experience at this winery I have loved since they opened their doors several years ago. As a member, the costs of wines were deducted on credit card. I love most of their wines- or I would not have become a member. You only have an allotted time in which to pick up the already paid for chosen bottles of wine. Ive dealt with personal issues- cat with cancer and myself, dental. Sunday, hoping for less traffic I drove up arriving 18 minutes before closing- yet I wasn't allowed the tasting to-verify bottles to keep or switch. "It was against the law" Id like to know which law- pouring for wine companies, we are allowed to pour up u til close if the bell. Seems Leah was anxious to close shop and even inquired if I wanted to cone back another time. Seems she doesn't appreciate customers or their time. I cancelled my membership. To entice customers, I suggest a better customer service approach. read more

Wonderful little vineyard that was conveniently located right off a main road. Extra points for being open on weekdays! CB has 5 acres of vines, although I think some of those are located elsewhere in the state. They also had a nice assortment to try from, enough that you could do either a dry or sweet flight (I did both). They even had mead, which I think was a new addition. What I tried: 15 Symphony: Oak barrel Chardonnay. Toffee and vanilla notes. 15 Merlot: Cherry-ish notes, very light. 16 Cab Sauv: Nice! Well balanced too. Rhapsody: Also very nice; apple notes. 17 Prelude: Made with Vidal; on the sweet side. 16 Bolero: Syran and Merlot blend; no notes, sadly. "Honeymoon" mead: Liked it a lot! Amber mead: Very Christmas-y. Lots of cloves and I think cinnamon. Not tried is their Syrah, which I was told was excellent. read more

I went to the Mount for college and always noticed the winery tucked into the side of the hill but, I never visited! Finally went this weekend with a group of friends and I was very delighted! Covid times have eliminated tastings at any of the wineries we've been to. So my friend who works there helped us pick a bottle that suited our taste. We started with the Bordeaux and it could easily go down as one of my favorites. A very light, enjoyable, taste. We also enjoyed a bottle of their Cabernet Sauvignon. Again, a really enjoyable wine. Tons of seating, to include an "adult only" area! Food truck on the grounds, as well. We were really impressed. This winery began as a passion project for the owners and it's really turned into something great. Numerous awards well earned! We look forward to returning! read more

Stopped in after a hike to Chimney Rock. The tasting room is nice and new. We were immediately offered a tasting and were able to select from three different tastings. We went with the signature and the sweet wine tastings. The main difference between the two is that the signature tasting had more typical wines while the sweet had three meads on it. I thought their merlot was really good. I ended up buying a bottle of it and enjoyed it just as much a week later with some steak. I liked the meads, though they were all a tad over spiced for my liking. We ended up buying the meads for a honey wine tasting we're holding for our neighborhood. The only reason for four stars was that there wasn't any food available. Our server told us they were in the process of signing up for a food licence and that they occasionally have food trucks. Bottom line: I would definitely return. The view is beautiful, though well make sure to check the food situation or bring our own next time! read more

An absolute clueless crew. I asked them which grapes they grow on the premises and she said "...all of them...". I replied back that was impossible as there are hundreds of grape varieties and she affirmed, "...no, all of them...". Someone later corrected her saying no, they only grow what was about five grape varieties on premises and fruit for the rest of their wines are shipped in from other vineyards. I also asked if their Chardonnay was either steel or eventually oak barrel fermented and she did not know. Wine tastings are ridiculously priced at $15/person for only five wines. Only two of their grapes on the wine tasting list are grown on premises (the chardonnay and some other white variety). Attempted to buy a bottle of their Albarino but they said that was reserved for purchase only by their members (despite the wine price list having a member and non-member bottle price!) This pricing is falsely represented as such on their website, as well!) The wines, however, are quite wonderful but the reds were definitely not good enough to warrant a $38 non-member price. I asked about membership and if they can ship to Colorado which they said they do. I then attempted to order a bottle of the Albarino off their website and the site stated they do not ship to Colorado! The property is very nice, and definitely above average. A lot of picnic tables and umbrellas and such. The wine tasting facility has running water restrooms which is always very nice and infrequently experienced. A BBQ truck was brought in with live music which was really nice. Apparently it's a stop on a limo wine tour. I wasn't impressed on how the grape vines were mounted. There are more scientifically proven ways to better manage them. I think in time they will have problems being physically supported as managed. The driveway and parking lot was gravel stone but not rutted and bumpy. I listed it as just "OK" because some of the lower points were outweighed by some of the higher points. It's definitely worth a quick stop, but again, $15 for a wine tasting two whites, a rose, and two reds was a bit overpriced in comparison to wineries in Virginia/Monticello and Bullrun areas. read more

My friends and I went yesterday and when we left, each of us commented of our disappointment in our female wine server. She poured the wine and walked away after each pouring. She was either on her phone or computer. We tried to engage her in conversation, but she wasn't interested. She appeared bored. There was only one other group there. This place is in a pretty location...the music was a nice touch. But absolutely no personal touches. There is literally a grape vine field and a building to purchase wine. Inside the building is nothing but a counter with wine menus, no ambience, no decor. Just order your wine then go go outside and find a table . They don't even offer a wine cooler like they used to, to keep your wine chilled while being in the heat. Come on now you can do better than this! read more

Truly amazing winery! My partner and I are big dry red wine drinkers, sometimes that makes it more difficult to find awesome local wines. That is not a problem at Catoctin! We are very happy to be part of the wine club here and always feel invited and welcome. Especially when it's nice out we like to bring out dog and sit outside, now every time we visit the employees ask us were Zeus is. They also have a nice selection of dry wine wines and much more uniquely, they have several meads as well. read more

It's a beautiful place with some really good sweet wine tasting. It's a perfect place to go after a good long hike to the Cunningham Falls State park. You can see beautiful vinyard, overlooking the Catoctin Park. I went to see fall foliage and stopped by on my way back. Simply loved the ambiance the staff were friendly and cute . I visited Catoctin Breeze with my girlfriend and family on Labor Day and boy was it PACKED! Unfortunately, they only had 2 or 3 people working the bar and administering the wine tastings, so service was pretty slow (hence the missing star from my rating). The staff, although stressed and overworked, was so so friendly and still took the time to explain each wine we sampled. They have two options for wine tastings, a sweet vs. a seasonal. I went the seasonal route and tried 5 samples of their seasonal wines which included a Vidal Blanc, a Merlot, an Amber Meade, a Rose, and a Chardonnay. My personal favorite was the Vidal Blanc, but I was overall impressed by the entire tasting. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous. The vineyard is across from a corn field and the winery itself it positioned in between the two. There are tables to sit outside on a beautiful day and enjoy your wine. The inside of the winery is newly renovated and gorgeous as well. Table space is limited, however, especially if the bar is full. read more

"We are getting ready to kick-out a family." This was the response I got from a tasting room worker when I asked what the problem was(they did not know it was MY family.) Apparently they do not allow children at this winery. Which is unnecessary in my opinion. My children were sitting at a picnic table reading and quietly building a puzzle when they were "spotted" as intruders. It was my fathers-day outing by the way. And I had just indicated that to the tasting room worker. My wife had ordered food from the food truck. I was doing a wine tasting and ready to enjoy some jazz music. I am not sure what reason they have to prohibit children. Every other winery in the county promotes a family atmosphere. But there is no reason to sound so smug and empowered to "kick out a family." I am a Certified Sommelier and a wine collector. I would likely have bought a case of wine and joined the wine club. I indicated that I wanted to try every wine they make and they could charge me appropriately. Its the 2nd closest winery to my home and could have been a regular stop for my "family." There was no consideration that my children were well behaved and enjoying the music. No offer to make an exception since we were already there. Nope, we had to go. Very sad. Nearly ruined my fathers day. So we waited to pay for our food as I felt bad for the food truck folks. We spoke with a nice couple there for the jazz that agreed our children should have been welcome. I hope this winery gets some better perspective. Maybe check your address before you decide to be this pretentious. And find some customer service training or better people. I will not be back. Nor will I recommend any of my wine enthusiast friends to visit. What a shame. read more

We stopped her after a hike at Catoctin with our dog. The hike was great but the wine after was even better. Instead of doing a tasting we asked for suggestions based on the wines we usually like (sweet whites) and the bartender was nice enough to let us try a couple he thought we would like. After deciding on one we grabbed our dog from the car (she couldn't one inside with us to order) and sat by a fire some other visitors had requested the staff started for a while. Fruit flies everywhere! It was like being in the Scotish Highands in the midst of their 'summer'. Through the black clouds of fruit flies my wife bravely sampled the wares of the vineyard. It seemed a bit disorganized, the setting was not he best nor was the presentation of the wines. A few good plonks to be had though. Hopefully their plans for their new tasting rooms wil rid us of the flies, the black dog barking & a whole better setting. read more

The best way to describe it is that perhaps a bad white, somewhat bitter wine, was mixed with water 50/50. Because of COVID-19, wine tasting and sales by the glass are not allowed. I had a family friend visit us from out of town and we decided to come here for wine tasting, we were treated very well from our host who showed us the vineyard and the tasting room, we were having a wonderful time until the owner walked in and whispered something to one of the staff., after getting to our third glass of wine for tasting one of the bartender had specifically hurried us out and was very rude about it. One of my friend said something to him about being rude and he said nothing in return. I felt like we were discriminated because weren't causasian. The stares and the rudeness from the bartender specifically pick us out. We still bought a case of wine to show them that we have more class than they do. And will never come back again because of the treatment. read more

I visited this vineyard with my girlfriend and her family on Labor Day. It was very busy as I expected! However, they were terribly understaffed. The gentleman that did our tasting was so busy that I genuinely felt bad for him. He was very kind and apologetic. The grounds are beautiful with outdoor and indoor seating. A great place to bring a dog on a nice day! Out tastings came with a cheese plate and either a selection of the sweet wine list or the dry. Unlike other places where you can pick what wines you'd like to taste, you can only choose from one or the other list. They also have mead as well, fyi. The cheeses they offer are delicious and we're honestly the highlight of our tasting. Unfortunately the wine here is just not up to par with what I expected. read more
