It's truly hilarious to call these people "locksmiths" as that implies some level of competency. I brought in a car's trunk lock to have a key made for it. I was told it's a bit harder but no problem, they can do it. 24 hours go by and there's no word on the key. Since decoding a lock is not really time-consuming and it was urgent, I checked in with them. All I get is that "trunk locks are harder, why couldn't you bring in a door lock? We'll call you when it's done." I come back after 27 hours total because this is getting ridiculous. I ask when it will be finished. Again, I'm brushed off "We'll call you when it's done." At this point, I'm annoyed but still polite, "Are you even working on it?" The response was they've been busy today and have already worked on it for 3 hours. I looked at it and they had cut the housing "to make it easier" and buggered the pins inside. The entire time I'm in the store, an employee is staring me down from across the counter. I cancelled the job before they could ruin it further. I had to laugh when I saw the first line on their website is "get the job done and isn't looking to simply take you for a ride, ..." and later "you can count on us for prompt, reliable service". I tried myself at home and I was able to pick it, remove the housing, and decode it in 15 minutes. I understand if something is too difficult or outside their skill range. But a mechanical (non-ignition) car key is probably the second easiest job in their business. There's many decoders that a professional could use if they're unable to release the tumbler housing like AccuReader or Leshi tools. Any imbecile with those inexpensive tools could become a better locksmith than Larson's. 45 seconds on the internet will tell you that it was a FO38 type tumbler. I'm no saint. I got annoyed and then frustrated, trying my best to remain polite. With their excellent customer service skills (yes, heavy sarcasm is implied), one of the employees called me a "pissy customer" which always helps the situation. Them being incapable of the most basic task was annoying but their lack of communication or objective look at their skills was the truly frustrating part. At any point, they could have said that they are unable to make a key, be it in a timely fashion or at all. I don't mean to be rude to the other reviewers but people deserve better than Larson's. A pat on the back for key replacement that worked? That is the bare minimum, we can get the same from a kiosk for cheaper. read more

Called to get the locks changed on my rental house and Larson's was able to accommodate in less than 72 hours. Price was reasonable for the install of all locks and the door nob my contractor neglected to install when he finished the garage. read more
