This cozy little cafe-restaurant is in downtown Trinidad. Whether you're craving a craft latte, a cold beer, or a hearty burger, this place has something for everyone. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed--grab a menu, seat yourself, and take in the local history through the vintage photographs on the walls, complete with a reference map that's fun to explore while you wait. We started with the pork belly appetizer. For mains, we had the Bearcat Burger and the Fish & Chips. Each came with a generous serving of crispy rosemary fries, but you can upgrade to truffle or chili fries for an extra treat. Service was prompt, cheerful, and attentive without being overbearing. A great spot for a casual bite with quality food and small-town charm.

Huevos rancheros. There are delicious beans under the tortillas!

This place is adorable! It's so low key and relaxed. We misunderstood the sign and thought we had missed the window for breakfast but the server assured us we had not. She was so nice and made sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. This place is another example of "places we should split an entree". Portions are very generous. The elotes appetizer was delicious, and I loved the addition of diced jalapeño peppers. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my husband ordered the hungry man burrito and we both barely finished half our plates. We're in town for a couple of weeks and I'm pretty sure we'll be back.

We will always come here when visiting Trinidad. This is now our "spot" . Period . The Owner and Executive Chef and Bartender and local historian were all one guy , who skillfully entertained the whole room of tables with only one assistant food runner fella . Loved the historical yet hip decor and vibe . The companion had a smash burger that was Bomb and he topped the fries with Green Chili . That "side"alone could have been a praiseworthy meal . However, I am Not sorry that I ordered two "appetizers" for my meal . The classic combo of greens and pork came together so amazingly with the HOISIN GLAZED PORK BELLY & Maple pan fried Brussels sprouts . We are hooked and shall return.

Pepperoni onion peppers with green chili A+++

Excellent by far, exactly what Trinidad needed. Everything made fresh with great flavor. Only thing lacking is Cali squeeze on tap and it would be perfection at its finest. Great job keep it up.

Always up for trying huevos rancheros at different restaurants. This was my 1st with french fries drowning in green sauce. The corn tortillas under the fries were covering a ton of beans. It was hard to eat and I wasn't a fan of the fries. The eggs were cooked nicely. Service was good and my friends enjoyed their basic breakfasts. I'll try something else next time.

Driving from NM to Denver, we were hungry and stopped in Trinidad, Co. OMG what an adorable town with many shops and eateries. Being a fan of the Animas River, we stopped to check out the grill's menu and found it had option that we liked. It's small and cozy and there is a plethora of old 1900's photos all over the place that speak to the history of the town. Service was fast and friendly. Prices were reasonable. I ordered a wonderful salad with blackened mahi mahi. My friend got tacos. We both thought our food was well portioned and well seasoned. They have rest room facilities and a really nice staff. We almost stopped again on our way home but took a different detour. I would surely make a point to visit Las Animas again!

Fresh ingredients, nice service. Rustic and historic designs. Food came out quickly. None of the food was greasy. Would have liked a better tasting green chile sauce but overall a nice place to have breakfast. Family business I believe. We were driving through town heading back to AZ.

    Looks yummy but disappointed

Service and Spicy Bloody Mary's were awesome! Ordered the huevos rancheroes and was disappointed. Looked good but flavor was just not there

    Huevos Rancheros for the Gourmet!

One of the highlights of my stay was witnessing the Armed Forces Parade right outside the hotel -- as a proud retired U.S. Army Veteran, that made the experience especially meaningful. Jason offered such a warm welcome from the moment I arrived, and I really appreciated the thoughtful check-in text and complimentary drink at check-in. Those touches made the stay feel personal and welcoming. The large shower and comfy bed are the bomb! I also loved the skylight and the cool patio area -- both added so much charm and comfort to the experience. I only wish I had more time to check out the taproom. My one suggestion would be adding an additional interior lock. As a single woman traveler, the extra security would provide additional peace of mind, especially with the combination lock setup. It's wonderful to see the care and vision that went into restoring this historic building. The future elevator addition will be a fantastic improvement as well. Nice work all around, and I sincerely wish you continued success!

And while there were several really great looking restaurants in the area, it was even too much effort to order delivery. So we pulled up the menu for Gagliardi's and ordered Fried Green Tomatoes, Chicken Fried Elk, and Chicken Piccata. All three items were amazing. No regrets, no notes, other than I feel like the packaging could be a little different. Something that retains heat a bit better or some kind of package that doesn't feel like our fried items will melt the package would be better. But obviously as you can see, that didn't affect my rating at all because everything was so yummy. Yes, the meal was pricey, but I feel like it was worth it.

Came out without onion or pickles and completely dry. No Mayo, mustard, ketchup, aioli, thousand island, nothing. Just dry. Burger was overcooked to beyond recognition and had zero flavor. Really it was the only thing to taste since nothing else was available, and surprisingly there was zero flavor. Just dry and a reminder that a trip to Burger King would have been 100x better and I hate BK. In fairness, I will say they generally do a better job. But tonight I left disappointed and mad at such a crappy meal. Service was pretty good overall but the waitress made no effort to discount the meal, offer another item that the check was prepared to make, like a PB&J sandwich, etc. I ate it so I would have paid regardless, but at least make an effort in a difficult situation. Overall I blame the management for not stocking the kitchen or training the staff how to handle their failures.

The restaurant wasn't fooling around when it comes to garlic. You could smell the enticing aroma of it as soon as you walk through the door. The ambience was quaint. It is connected to a hotel which I'd check out if I were traveling through here again. We arrived at the restaurant around 530pm. The happy hour menu had both drinks and some dinner items on it. My companion ordered the Spaghetti & Meatballs from the happy hour menu. We were told the portion is the same as from the regular menu. It was $14. ($18 on regular menu.) It was a generous portion with three large meatballs. I opted for the Picatta Pasta at $12 and added four shrimp for an extra $6. They gave me five so I'm not sure if the chef made a mistake or was just feeling generous. I'll say the latter! The dish had tomatoes, capers, lemon, and white wine. The only thing I'd add to my taste would be pine nuts! We both totally enjoyed our meals including the bread! I forced myself to leave a little for lunch the next day and it was even better then! Comments I heard from around the dinner were equally enthusiastic about their meals, especially those who ordered the mussels. We're in town for a week and I don't usually go back to the same restaurant twice when I'm visiting a new location but my companion and I are definitely going back again before we leave. It was a Fri and a bit of busy night when we were there but our server Jillian did a great job and was super nice.
