We are from Austin,Texas and travel to Colorado every summer and traditionally we have chosen to stop in Trinidad and go to the Bella Luna Pizzeria - because they prepare fantastic pizzas !! Last year when we came we saw that it was up " For Sale " so we weren't sure if we'd be able to come back! So today we arrived here again and HALLELUJAH ! First off, the service was amazing! We were sat right away by the bartender, the waitress came over shortly after and got our order- both ladies were very nice and so friendly. We ordered the Paulie, the mean Mika salad, garlic bread and cheese bread! Everything was so delicious! The salad was fresh and tasty, and the pizza was baked perfectly. We enjoyed being able to see our pizza be baked in the brick oven. The atmosphere was great, everyone around us seemed happy and in a good mood. The server seemed nice at first, but an hour passed and she never came back to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. The service was excellent, our server Mia went above and beyond during a rush to show us excellent hospitality. What struck me about the experience was the staff's communication standards, they were top-notch at letting each other know where each table was at. OMG! I'm delayed in this review but this pizza BLEW ME AWAY! This is a nice little bar/restaurant that is a little tight for fitting folks but absolutely worth it! The pizza was fresh, the fried pickles were so crispy/hot/fresh, the salad was perfect portions, and that pizza was TO.DIE.FOR! We were so pleasantly surprised by this little gem in Trinidad! The service was seriously outstanding - a really rare thing in today's world! Our server/bartender was very attentive despite a very full house. We drive this route between NM and Denver often, yet this was our first overnight here. The extremely fresh and tasty Mika salad and the wood fired, piping hot Rosso BBQ pizza were delicious. We were hoping for a "passable" dinner and were so happy to receive much more! Stopped in for a bite to eat. It had a pretty good Yelp review, so I knew we'd be disappointed. But we weren't! It has a nice little bar with mixed drinks and microbrewed beers. We sat there, with a couple of beers, for a while while we waited for our table. As it turned out, when we got a table, our bartender was also our waitress. The atmosphere was very laid back, which was amazing considering how hard she worked. She has a knack for making you feel doted upon while she juggles 20 other things. The pizza was amazing. They have this pretty cool wood fired pizza oven in the middle of the kitchen. It heats the place up a tad bit, but it also adds a little ambiance, and turns out spectacular pizzas, The cheesy garlic bread was on point, already said the pizza was amazing. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND I ordered two large 16" pizzas for $50. When we got home we noticed they seemed small. We measured them with a tape measure and they measured 12". That's the size of their advertised small pizza. Thinking we received small pizzas instead of large I called in to the restaurant. I told the woman who answered that I believe we received small instead of large pizzas. She assured me they were large pizzas but I replied with "when they are measured they come out to 12 inches. The same size advertised as a small pizza" she than explained that they shrink in the oven. To me 4" of shrinkage all around is severe. I would stretch the pizza dough out past 16" for a 16" pizza to account for any oven shrinkage ( but hey maybe that's just me). Her resolution was the next time I come in they'll buy me a beer. I replied with I don't drink. I asked if I could be refunded the price difference between the small size pizza and the large size. That wasn't an option. The next resolution was they'd make me an "extra extra small pizza". I reluctantly said okay. I really wasn't trying to give anyone a hard time. I just wanted a refund for the price difference bc I received the wrong size pizzas(maybe an $8 refund?). That's it. When I went to pick up the "extra extra small pizza" I told the bartender the order name and said have a great night when she handed me the pizza. That's the extent of my interaction with the staff. My husband left a kind but honest google review about the misleading pizza sizes but overall friendly staff and great atmosphere. We received a voicemail from Sandy banning us from the restaurant due to our google review and apparently being rude over the phone. At no point was anyone rude. I called in thinking I received the wrong pizzas looking for resolution. Not worth the price for size or taste. read more
