Was brought here by a friend immediately on Friday night and had surgery Saturday morning to get a titanium rod and screws. The nursing staff was excellent, and my surgeon Dr. Shah was super cool and did a phenomenal job. From Friday to Monday, they did everything possible to keep me comfortable. TBH I'm shocked this place only has 3 stars... it's a great hospital with an even better staff. And yes they have a reputation for food and it's actually pretty good, however it's a bit bland for patients, way better as a visitor. Anyways, highly recommend them. Will not return LOL

Once she was admitted, the doctors, nurses, and staff took great care of both my wife and our daughter. Everyone was kind, professional, and genuinely caring. We also appreciated that they honoured our request to release the placenta for encapsulation. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the labour experience. We were told the hospital was extremely busy that day, so we completely understand things were hectic. That said, after my wife asked for an epidural, she ended up waiting close to two hours while in severe labour pain. We kept pressing the call button but had a hard time getting updates or assistance, and the lack of communication made an already stressful situation even harder. As her husband, it was heartbreaking watching her go through that. We were also disappointed that our birth plan wasn't fully followed. We had requested delayed cord clamping and made sure both the doctor and nurses had a copy beforehand, but the cord was clamped immediately after birth. We understand plans sometimes have to change, but we would've appreciated an explanation. Other than those issues, we're truly grateful for everyone who cared for my wife and our baby. We know the team was working incredibly hard, and we're thankful they helped bring our healthy baby girl safely into the world. With a little more communication during busy times and closer attention to birth plans, I think the experience would have easily been 5 stars.

My grandma is 97 years old, bedridden, and completely dependent on other people to care for her. I had to ask for pillows and blankets so I could rotate her myself, and I had to ask for a diaper to change her myself because they had no plan on doing it-- even though my grandma was laying there for almost 12hrs. Unfortunately we come to this hospital because it's close to home. I understand ERs get busy. But being busy doesn't mean basic care and empathy should disappear!! When I asked for help, I got looked at like they were annoyed or I was interrupting their social hour. When it comes to my grandma I don't play, so I was really disappointed.. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! And what really broke my heart is thinking about the patients who DON'T have family there to advocate for them. Imagine if I wasn't there for my grandma? Who would've changed her? Cleaned her? Made sure she was even comfortable? That's scary to think about. People come to the ER vulnerable, scared, sick, and needing compassion -- not attitude and neglect. The way some of these nurses acted was disgusting and disappointing.

We arrived at 5 a.m. for his outpatient surgery, and from the moment we walked in they checked us in right away, took us to the room, and started preparing my son. He was very scared, but every single RN, anesthesiologist, and doctor was incredibly kind. They took the time to talk to both of us, explain the process, comfort him, and even held his hand to help him feel safe. The recovery took about an hour and 30 minutes, and during that whole time the staff kept checking on us and asking if we needed anything. It really meant a lot to see how much they cared. I'm truly grateful for the compassion, patience, and professionalism everyone showed that morning. Thank you to all of you who were there and took such good care of my son. It made a very scary day much easier for our family. 3/52026 thank you again

Every question that tried to get answered was interrupted with a rude tone and it also showed in their faces. From the Front desk to the X-Ray room it seemed like doctors didn't believe what was being answered from my significant other. They also need to practice asking questions and providing a reason of asking (especially personal questions). Reason being is because it felt like it was abrupt and invasive which made both of us uncomfortable but these questions were also asked in the Hallway with other patients waiting to be treated. It was very odd cause some questions were about drug use which was pretty invasive and was a bit triggering only for them to give a reason after we were caught off guard. Out of all of the staff we saw which was a total of 7, only 2 gentlemen were very kind and professional. I'm going to keep their identity anonymous for their own well being and so it doesn't come back to hurt them by other staff but we did appreciate their work, dedication, and compassion. Over all the experience was a 2 out of 5 and I'm only giving it stars cause of the 2 gentle men and 0 stars don't exist. Also it was kind of impossible to find the entrance, so I'd recommend better signage even if it's a small hospitals

I also thought it would be good to have an "in" just in case. Unfortunately, my experience didn't go well. To be honest, I have a fear of going to doctors and avoid it as much as possible. I arrived early for my appointment as instructed. The staff at the front desk were courteous and professional. About 10 minutes before my scheduled time a nurse escorted me to the room and took my vitals. When she was done, she said the doctor would be in shortly. 35 minutes later - no doctor. The room was cold, my fingers were numb, and I had to get back to work so I walked over to the front desk and told them I was leaving. The next day I received a call asking me if I wanted to reschedule. I said no because I was afraid the doctor would be a no show again and I would find another doctor. Later that day I received another call asking me the same thing, and I gave the same answer. This time the scheduler told me there were two other doctors in the network at the same location and she could book me an appointment with one of them. Unfortunately, the soonest appointment isn't until the end of July but she said she would also put me on the wait list. I appreciate that she went the extra mile to help me. Hopefully, I'll have better luck on my next visit. *Private parking lot.

I've never been to a chemo facility before. You expect something sterile or clinical, but City of Hope South Pasadena is different. It's human. It's kind. The people here don't just clock in -- they show up. From the front desk to the nurses to the volunteers offering water and candy, everyone treated my friend with dignity and genuine care. We were there about four hours, and in that time, I saw more quiet heroism than most people see in a lifetime. Nurses moving with precision and grace, comforting patients like family. No chaos, no coldness -- just empathy and skill in perfect balance. They even offered me water and candy while I waited -- a small gesture, but it meant the world. It reminded me that while medicine keeps people alive, kindness makes it bearable. Life is short. Sitting here makes you realize how fragile it all is -- and how strong people can be in the face of something so heavy. To the staff here: you are heroes. To anyone reading this -- hug your loved ones, laugh more, and don't take a single day for granted. City of Hope South Pasadena isn't just a medical facility -- it's a place where hope has a heartbeat. The care is professional, the staff are angels in scrubs, and the compassion is real. If your loved one ever needs treatment, know they'll be in good hands here.

My review is specifically for the ER department…read more I truly try to be understanding because I know hospitals are understaffed, overwhelmed, and the staff deals with difficult situations every day. I've always remained polite and patient during my visits. But after multiple experiences here, I honestly feel like something needs to be said. Every single time I've come to this ER, the wait has been excessive -- usually 7+ hours just to be seen or placed in a room, followed by several more hours waiting for updates or care once inside. I understand emergencies happen and patients are prioritized by severity, but the overall experience feels extremely disorganized and lacking compassion. The waiting room is consistently dirty and overcrowded, with visibly sick people sitting for hours without updates. What bothered me most, though, was the attitude from some of the staff at the front desk. Patients and family members asking simple questions are often spoken to like they're inconveniencing the staff just for needing help or clarification. During my most recent visit, I spent nearly 10 hours there before eventually deciding to decline admission and go home. I was placed in a room without a pillow or blanket and asked three separate times for a blanket, but was ignored each time. No one expects perfection, especially in a busy ER. But basic compassion, communication, and respect should still exist. People come to the emergency room scared, sick, in pain, and vulnerable. The way patients are treated matters just as much as the medical care itself. I genuinely hope this department improves, because no patient should leave feeling dismissed, ignored, or like they were a burden for simply needing medical help.
