Hello.. I last stayed there maybe 3 years ago. I don't know why I didn't update my review... first so happy to see few 5 star reviews.. my last stay went well. Check my suitcase in the privacy of my room, not scattered on the floor but on the bed. Nurses were very nice, helpful and my stay was a positive one. Charter Oak, I have had stays there and you guys were so awesome back then. Bring back recovery, panels, meetings, therapeutic recovery.. and please bring back the free time doing coloring, encouragement, puzzles, arts and crafts.. you heal the body also heal the mind. Fresh air.. maybe things have changed since I was there. A late review but saw improvement. Please bring back the great food, healthy environment. We all need support. My son was there in July and I was so apprehensive about him being there I was scared worried but after going there to visit him everyday and seeing how the staff was the older lady at the front when you check in was SO VERY NICE she was amazing very helpful the gentleman at the security was very polite my son says the food was great his dr was so nice I'm just happy it's over and he's home recovering and being more stable I would definitely recommend this place for everyone that may have a different experience if could just depend on your family member the situation but I'm pleased and I thank you Las Encinas :) read more

The description of this "hospital" is not accurate to what they're capable of doing on site. For reference after a cancer battle, I needed assisted detox for benzodiazepines. On the phone, I was told they specialize in this detox and will make it as comfortable as possible. Shockingly during my intake the first question out of the nurses mouth was "what do you mean medical detox?". I was a bit confused and reminded her that I was checking in for detoxing off of a controlled substance. She then said "we do our best with what we can here, then we call 911." At this point I have to end the intake session as I was flabbergasted at the lack of knowledge, the lack of professionalism and the lack of education in regards to what this facility is not only advertising, but is listing as one of their specialties. I will say it's probably more of a psych ward and it's very pretty outside so if you need to commit someone like a family member or have to get a 5150, I'm sure it's perfectly suitable. read more

Las Encinas is a hell hole. During my time here there were massive leaks in the ceiling and disgusting water conditions. The doctors are predatory and subjecting patients to insane prescriptive cocktails. The "treatment" worsened my condition and the doctors were out of touch, creepy, predatory, and abusive of their powers. I saw a doctor for no more than 5-10 minutes only 3 times before being forcefully held against my will for virtually no reason other than "it was a weekend". Only a couple of the nurses were kind, most treated patients like animals. Many people needing facilitation truly just need understanding and safety, this place is traumatizing for anyone. read more

I've had several stays at this hospital and I repeatedly get automated calls from their billing department every week even though I setup a payment plan MONTHS AGO and have been paying on time every month. I finally called them back and informed them that they need to stop calling because I'm already paying according to the terms of a payment plan. The rep said they would put me on a do not call list. Two weeks later I got another recorded call and just now I got a call from a live person. I informed the rep that I'm already paying and the checks are sent on time every month so why are they still calling? This is getting extremely old. STOP CALLING ME, AURORA HOSPITAL. I'VE BLOCKED YOUR NUMBER. YOU'RE GETTING CHECKS FROM ME EVERY MONTH SO QUIT CALLING ME. THIS IS HARASSMENT AND I'M TIRED OF IT. read more

Last time I left an honest review there were complaints from the hospital. I'll just say this: every facility for addiction has their secret problems. If you decide to go inpatient, you must stay focused on why you are there. It's really easy to meet others and distract yourself from your own issues. Don't get caught up with other patients too much. Attend the groups and meetings and find the type of treatment that works for you. If you don't dig the 12 steps- there are other ways. Talk to your counselors. Remember, it's easy to sober up in treatment and behave. The real challenge begins once you're discharged. Plan ahead. Good luck. read more

LAS ENCINAS SAVED MY LIFE!!! Before I was admitted to their IOP Program, I was battling a lot with myself especially anger which I realized stemmed from depression. Even leaving bad yelp reviews for no good reason. The staff on site and my overall experience was such a game changer and I couldn't ask for any other group to help me with getting my life back on track. Now I can go out confidently and be the person I want to be thanks to this facility. It's a safe and super nice place to be you and to grow no matter how old you are. Thank you!!! read more

This place is a nightmare and I was Sexually assaulted 7 nights in a row from the same night watch man! I was terrified to tell anyone scared the abuse would escalate. Staff is cold and uncaring and the physiatrist was mentally abusive and I left the session scared and feeling more depressed. Rather them helping he demeaned me and I felt like I was in a Spanish Inquisition! I had no access to a phone to talk to my family but once a week if I'm lucky. I had to wait in a line to receive a call I was not Allowed to call out! I was so scared and felt alone with no one I could trust. I had PTSD when I went in and it has gotten worse with nightmares. Please, I beg anyone thinking of going here or a family member to avoid at any cost! read more

Was admitted to this "treatment facility" to detox After 7 days (I had detoxed) I left AMA (against medical advice) And resumed meetings in my anonymous fellowship They literally kicked me to the curb (told me I must leave the facility at once) and did NOT provide me with a way back to my residence I am a combat veteran and my health insurance company is Tri Care West Once the goose stopped laying the golden eggs I saw how much this institution really cared about me To add insult to injury the staff rifled through my property and stole an expensive iron and a gallon of laundry detergent from me Also (although they do provide 3 hot meals a day) the food is sub par prepared by lowly paid staff with no cooking credentials (other than a servSafe handlers certificate) read more

My son was discharged yesterday , my son looks much better than before. He's taking medicine and has an appointment to see the doctor further treatment. I find this place very good who needs peace and quiet and want to be taken care of . Doctors are very good , the nurses are attentive, caring. The front desk staff , security guards. They are all very gentle and slow. I I'm very happy my son was teated at this hospital. If anyone has psychological problems and want good treatment please come to this hospital . A few years have passed since our experience with Las Encinas, and while my family member is doing much better now, none of that is thanks to the treatment they received here. For some context, my family member has menstrual cycles so painful they often needed ER visits for morphine. Before they found the right treatment regimen, every period was a nightmare. Unfortunately, one of those periods started while they were under Las Encinas' care. Remember how ANABELLE, the mental health worker, dismissed my family member's crying, saying, "She's crying like a little girl." Well, come to find out.. my family member was experiencing excruciating pain from their period and desperately needed stronger pain medication. The staff offered simple OTC medication, but nothing helpful. They refused to believe the severity of their pain or their medical history. From that day on, our family rallied. Parents, siblings--everyone-- group called daily for updates. We wanted to know when they'd see a doctor, when they'd be released, and if they could get proper pain medication. Each day we were told, "You need to speak to their assigned social worker," who was conveniently always unavailable. When we finally reached someone, we'd hear, "That's not their worker anymore; it's someone else," who was also conveniently never available. When my family member finally came home, we realized just how much our advocacy had angered the staff. My family member was mistreated in ways both overt and subtle. The most glaring example was during meals. While other patients received balanced meals with meats and sides, my family member was singled out and served only a salad and a drink, despite having no dietary restrictions. It was a clear message: ostracize, ostracize, ostracize her! The staff's unspoken but loud message to other patients was that our family member was a troublemaker, simply because they had family who cared enough to ensure they were treated properly. It was both heartbreaking and infuriating to witness such pettiness and lack of empathy from a place that should be focused on healing. You'd think they could have used that petty energy to provide meaningful updates or offer us someone to speak to instead of the constant deflection. While our family united to support my family member, Las Encinas did not share our commitment to their well-being. read more

I have my daughter admitted here. I am not sure how they call this a hospital. My daughter is scare as hell. She was put on hold so I can't get her out even when she came here volunteered. I am so sad she end up in a place that look like a jail. Not everyone is as crazy as other people. I thought she was going to get help counseling, attention from the nurses, more dedication. It seems like they are on their own walking around like zombies. Can't wait til she come home and we found a real facility that knows what they are doing. The charge Nurse told me " if your daughter behave she can go home and she doesn't she need to stay". Google it online. What a professional answer!!!! God help you if you end up here. Particularly if someone decides that even though you're not a threat to yourself or others, you should still be forced to go, "to relax." Though the people there voluntarily were not treated any better. First off, I am one of the lucky ones. I ended up in ward 1, with the most stable people. But they almost did not have a bed there, and were going to put me in ward 2, which other patients in my ward came from with horror stories, including - someone somehow having a knife and leaving it on their pillow, violence, death threats, etc. They were going to put a person who they called 'suicidal' in that ward. If you, like many people with anxiety, suffer from insomnia, and you wanted to expose yourself to sleep deprivation techniques that violate international psychological torture statutes, this place is for you. It is noisy, whether from the alarms signalling a patient escaped (fun!) or the nurses coming in for their midnight shift shouting down the hallway. They also check on you every 15 minutes, exposing your dark room to a burst of light, and lucky me, my bed was right in the path of the crack of the door, and refuse to provide you with an eye mask. I used a pair of socks to try to cover my eyes. Maybe you get a headache because of the lack of sleep - well it's unfortunate, but you'll be waiting 6 hours for simple tylenol, long enough for your headache to turn into a migraine. But don't let that keep you in your room. If you aren't in the lounge socializing with others, they'll mark you down as self-isolating, according to several nurses and patients, and that means you'll be kept longer. If you want to see your psychiatrist, you are better of praying to a deity than asking a nurse or getting a hold of your social worker. And if you want to talk to the patient advocate about that, you're similarly screwed, because she'll simply leave after promising to speak with you. At one point my psychiatrist apparently said he had seen me and refused to discharge me, when he hadn't even come to talk to me. And if like many people with depression you rely on your support network, sucks to suck, you'll be completely isolated from it. The only option you have to talk to people is via one shared, public payphone, which your entire ward will be standing in line to use, and which you can barely hear out of. If you want to contact someone whose phone number you don't have, you can ask the nurses to get your phone and look up the number, but you're warned not to because apparently that annoys them. And if you need to contact someone, for example work or appointments, for which you only have an email or an app, you're screwed. I had several appointments that I just wound up not showing up for, and someone at work even called the police to come check on me because I wasn't responding. In many ways, they created more problems for me on the way out. Please note, many mental health institutions, even those that are involuntary, and including those in California, will still allow some access to cellphones. Aurora is just extremely backwards and archaic in their practices. The visiting hours are limited to one hour between 5:30-6:30. It's directly after work for many people, so you'll be stuck in LA traffic. If you're coming from outside of Pasadena, you have no chance. And at the end, they demand you pay the copay for only part of the service (more bills are coming later!) which for me was $500. For services I did not request, or want, or need, but which were forced on me, without their psychiatrist or medical doctor even having seen me. So if financial troubles are one source of your anxiety, they make sure to add to the burden. What put me over the edge was when I checked my credit card statement this morning, I saw a mysterious charge for $5.00 for 'fast food', I'm guessing a vending machine given the flat price. So not only did they demand money before letting me leave, but while I was there one of their staff members with access to my confiscated wallet, used my credit card to buy themselves snacks. I cancelled the card and now will have to re-set everything hooked up to it. I am so angry I cannot believe these things are legal. They shouldn't be. They dehumanize people, they isolate people, they take advantage of people, they worsen their mental health, they worsen their physical health. NEVER CALL THE COPS ON SOMEONE IN A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS - your loved one will do much better with you or another friend or family member coming to stay with them. If you care enough to call the cops, you should care enough to make some time to be with them until they're stabilize. Don't give them trauma on top of more trauma on top of their existing mental health issues. Our healthcare system is simply not set up to provide any standard of care that could actually benefit someone suffering from any sort of mental illness. You will do more harm than good if you commit them somewhere like this. read more

A friend of mine was 51/50'd. Based on the website I was relieved thinking it was a beautiful, safe facility. He was in the men's wing. Wow. Speechless. It was filthy. Terrifying it looked like an alternative to a prison. The visiting hours are 7:30-8:30. The facility was so hot it felt like the air was sticky. No air conditioning. The common area which was also the area for visitors had a tv blaring sports loudly. We might have asked to turn the tv down but the patients watching were not exactly get rest. I'm absolutely shocked the facility is legally allowed to be open. My friend said he met with a Psyciatrist after two days (the doctors were off for the weekend) for five minutes before getting a diagnosis and prescription. This place needs to be shut down. So sad. read more

Two stars cuz staff are mostly ok and some of the concerns aren't their fault. However, communication and food is so horrible. How can anyone truly work on their healing without proper and adequate nutrition? The food served is essentially unfit for human consumption. Communication is absolutely appalling, no one knows anything, it's all up in the air. The one thing patients look forward to, is the measly one hour visit and it gets cut short because of mismanagement of time so you end up getting like a 45 or 50 minute visit it's sad. That's all you get. Also, you have to be a smoker to get outdoor time. So you're locked indoors 24/7. If you're not a smoker you can go outside with the smokers and now great you get to have emphysema from all that dang secondhand smoke. Terrible. Please treat the patients more humanely. Horrible experience. Staff all the way up to the Psychiatrist and Medical Supervisor are apathetic and quote policies that are non existent. Mainly because they're lazy and do not feel like doing their job, I have a son who was put on a 5150 then extended to a 14 day hold, then 30 day hold. Beware of good insurance because you will end up on a longer hold...$$$! After his rapid discharge to the first place that accepted him he was still traumatized from the extended stay of non therapeutic environment and repeated IM injections of a very strong antipsychotic called Thorazine which he had reactions to. Dr. Goodman would refuse to listen or consider any medication history; he'd only prescribe more of the same medication causing adverse reactions. After 3 weeks into the stay it was apparent my son's progress was deteriorating with the lack of staff support, pompous Psychiatrist and sadly the depressing surroundings. A few nurses were helpful but most couldn't be bothered to give updates. Fast forward to how much stability this hospital really provided after a 20 day stay: After discharging to a Residential program only 4 days later my son had a a psychotic break and was back in the ER crisis center. This hospital does not stabilize. Basically it causes more harm and disposes of the patient to any patient program that accepts without regard to the right placement. read more

My niece was just admitted there two days ago in the mental unit. I called to check on her. I have the access code so I transferred to the nurse's unit. I was hoping to find out how my niece was doing. The very Hispanic-speaking nurse was very snappy. I said, well how is she doing, she said, "I don't know, I just met her this morning." I asked if she had a chance to speak with her and she said "No." just, No.. It was after 11am. What?? You haven't had not ONE actual conversation with her, YET? All I have to say is Get your shit together! Don't just be there for a paycheck. I'm watching you very closely! My niece is confused and scared. Where are the doctors? She just got there, and no one is speaking to her? Now her Mom and her dad and her brothers and her sister are a nervous wreck. I need to find out about your staff!!! read more

My kid was in 72 hours holds until today. But his doctor didn't release him and put him on another 14 day holds. I was told that he is doing good with participated all activities and social with fellow patients. And he was not dangerous to himself or anybody else. The nurse didn't give him a copy of document on 14 day holds with any reason. he wants to be back home to continue his study. based on the patient right, we are requesting to release all medical records and document. we are in contact with our attorney to resolve the issue. read more

I was a recent detox patient at Las Encinas detoxing off of a MASSIVE amount of xanax. Most people know that there are only TWO substances you can DIE from a cold turkey detox, those two substances are 1. Alcohol and 2. Benzodiazapenes. Xanax is a strong benzodiazapene. I was admitted into their Briar Unit for detox and the withdrawls honestly werent that bad until day 5 (mind you, they were already talking to me about discharging soon) On day 5 i was experiencing the WORST detox symptoms ive ever had in my 30+ stints in rehab. Uncontrollable shaking, muscle spasms, Nausea, Vomiting and diarrhea, heart palpitations, no appetite, a constant migraine that was so bad i thought i had covid! I had puked up my morning meds due to the extreme symptoms i was feeling, my puke was all bile mixed w blue and orange (colored becaused the meds had not yet been digested) i asked the nurses if i could have my meds becasue i just puked them up and their response was "we can only give them out every 4 or 8 hours" whatever i dont remember what it was. My assigned doctor wasnt there that day so "Dr Cruz" was my substitute doctor. So while im literally suffering, and now also worried i was going to DIE from a seizure/heart attack, mind you its about 10am at this time, the nurses kept saying "the doctor knows and he will be here soon" i did not see De Cruz until about 6pm. Protocol during detox, the technicians are supposed to do their "rounds" every 30minutes to make sure patients are safe etc. i was violently shaking like an epileptic, fetal position in bed, with my door left open on purpose, NOBODY came to check on me to see if i was 1. Safe 2. F***ing dead or not. I thought i was going to die in my bed from a seizure at las encinas hospital. FINALLY Dr Cruz saw me hours later , i told him how i was feeling and it was clear as day i was in full withdrawl ie sweating, shaking, ghostly pale, (the patients were the only ones who were like "dude are you ok? you look TERRIBLE!" I told Dr Cruz "hey man you should know this cuz youre a f***ing doctor, i need either adavan or valium (both benzos, and rehabs typically use one or the other to TAPER benzo addicts and alcoholics so they dont have a seizure and die) Dr Cruz told me "No, were going to keep you on the same medication, you will be okay) ie gabapentin , clonodine, and robaxin. You cannot cold-turkey detox from benzos or alcohol becasuse risk of death. Dr Christianson (the main doctor) told me upon my intake when i asked "dr C i was told you would be my doctor" Dr christianson swung around in his chair (in front of a few of the clients as witnesses) and told me "Are you f**ing kidding me!?? YOU are one of the most difficult patients ive ive ever had and if inwas your doctor i would give you LESS medication than what youre being given" ***Dr Christianson 10 years prior was my psychiatrist at his outside practice in San Marino and the first doctor to put me on suboxone which did no good for me at all but keep me even more stuck on opioids*** my theory is upon my intake Dr Christanson told the staff that i was a bad patient, med-seeking etc, something to that effect. Which makes sense as to why i was mistreated and my needs ignored my entire stay at las encinas hospital. I "AMA'd" (against medical advice) because my last doctor at a previous detox facility prescribed me 2 weeks worth of adavan in case i was still feeling withdrawl symptoms and i had them at my house. I literally had to leave detox just so i could properly taper myself (not recommended btw unless the same thing happens to you at las encinas, dont AMA) taper myself off the xanax. Which by the way was a success cuz i now have 6 days off all benzos and feel fine. LAS ENCINAS IS THE WORST HOSPITAL/TREATMENT CENTER IVE EVER BEEN TO AND DR CHRISTIANSON AS WELL AS DR CRUZ SHOULD BE FIRED AND THEIR LICENSE TAKEN AWAY. Do not go there. Charter oak in covina is a much better facility, and there are a few more i would highly recommend. I did not receive the necessary treatment i needed from las encinas hospital, I was treated very poorly and my fellow clients who were with me during my stay would agree. Benzodiazapenes and alcohol have to be tapered with either adavan, valium, or a strong dose of librium. After my "at home detox" i went back to sign up for dual diagnose outpatient and was told by the nurses "there are only two doctors , dr christianson and Dr Cruz, and they are not accepting new patients because their case load is full." NO. I was singled out and denied treatment from both doctors due to a personal beef they have with me. Meanwhile there were three other new intakes filling out the same paperwork i filled out and my guess is they are now currently clients of the las encinas outpatient. I will be speaking with my lawyer. read more

This place is beyond HELL there's no words in the dictionary to describe how horrific it is. From start to being discharged...if you want to slaughter someone and traumatize their mental health even worse plus the disgusting cockroaches everywhere, Ac/heater units dusted to no visible filter, to the dirtiest place I have ever been to go there/send someone here. Some of the staff are nice but overall do yourself a favor and go somewhere else ....go to prison if needed this place caused me more anxiety and depression no food (I'm vegetarian-a picky one) a leaf was pretty much my meal, infested with insects, the rooms are even dirty, bed is a box with less cushion than jail. If you get a room with a shower in it's spit water takes 45 mins to warm up, it's the worse place you can go for help and if you want to ultimately get hated for the rest of your life send someone here. I wouldn't send my worse enemy. Just a waste of time and you come out more damaged. read more

My elderly father was admitted to Las Encinas after a diagnosis of dementia in about 2003 after an emergency visit to the ER. I wasn't comfortable with our communication level with his Las Encinas physician. I was skeptical about the precision of the physicians diagnosis, and his recommended pharmaceutical regimen with respect to geriatric dementia care. My father was placed into a "locked" facility with suicidal, drug abusers, and other mental patients of all ages where he complained of abusive fellow patients. I expected Las Encinas would exercise due care and responsibility for my fathers well being by placing him in a dedicated ward for geriatric dementia patients. I retained a geriatric psychiatric specialist at UCLA Medical School to undertake an independent examination of my father which confirmed an advancing dementia, and, the UCLA physician prescribed an alternative drug regimen. Las Encinas was eager to discharge my father due to limitations on his Medicare coverage. After consultation with County regulators and Medicare, we we're provided enough time to find a replacement facility. Although I cannot recommend Las Encinas for dementia patients based upon my fathers care many years ago, I caution you to examine carefully Las Encinas or any psychiatric institution claiming to have expertise treating elderly dementia patients. It's my belief that early, specialized geriatric psychiatric care, is pivotal to prolonging the quality of life for these patients. My father passed away two years later in a hospice, unable to recognize anybody, eat, drink, or swallow. I wish you good luck with your loved ones in combating this dreadful disease. read more

Where to start. They only get one star because of the staff. Called on Wednesday they don't give you very much information over the phone. So I went in on Friday. As soon as I got there, they took all my stuff and put it in a room. I didn't see some of my stuff again till I left. They didn't even log my stuff in front of me. Ur not allowed to have a phone, I pad, food, meds of any kind. They don't even allow you to have your toiletries. You have to ask for them every time you want to use them then give them back. it Took about 2 to 3 hours to get processed and to check my insurance. It's $1000 a night if you don't have insurance. They didn't discuss what plan they had for me, what meds I would be taking. Walked down to briar building, no sooner than I walked in I was thrown in to an AA meeting. Not really my cup of tea but it's OK go with the flow. Luckily the people recovering there we're actually pretty cool. first night in a new place getting used to my surroundings. The beds, if you can call them that, are rock hard you're better off sleeping on the ground. The toilet was actually clean. The shower had painted on tile that was peeling off everywhere. The Hot water comes and goes & it's freezing in there. All the windows r so old they don't close all the way. Morning came breakfast is at 7:30 AM. You walk up to the cafeteria people on briar unit are the last in line to eat. The food is disgusting. The eggs are runny. The potatoes are frozen and not even warm. but they have cereal so u won't starve. one Day we had pork and fish. If u say so. The only good thing was the chicken noodle soup that I had to have someone bring me because I was so weak for not being able to eat crap for breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you've come to lose weight, this is the perfect place. they give u medication 4 times a day, but if ur on opioids don't count on getting anything for the withdrawals just muscle relaxers & what they call a sleeping pill which doesn't help at all specially when they come in every 2 hours to do ur vitals & there's someone else that comes in & checks on u 3-4 times a night. So basically u get woken up 8 times a night. So much for recovering. Day 5 symptoms were bad. Gave me something that didn't work & wouldn't give me anything like methadone, so I decided to leave, because I can quit cold turkey at home in a nicer environment. I came here so I didn't have to feel the withdrawals so I could recover. They offered me subutex. Took that just hoping it would work. IT DIDN'T. It made my withdrawals 100 times worse. Subutex keeps u from getting high so when the medication realizes I still have opiates in my body it goes berserk attacking my system. & no I didn't take or do any drugs while I was there. It was He'll on earth for me & no one understood what was happening to my body. I know what regular symptoms feel like & I wasn't exaggerating So I left AMA. I had too. They wouldn't give me anything to feel better. Since I felt so shitty I left a lot of my belongings behind. I called & told them I would be coming to get the rest of my things. Drove over talked to the front desk someone came up with a bag that was mine & there were 2 things in it. I said I have a lot more stuff. ie. I pad, phone,watch, 2 carrying bags,food & a purse. So they found more of my things & I got to the car and rechecked & my phone was missing & had to go back in but They did eventually return all my stuff. So if ur looking for a nice place for ur recovery this AINT it. This is where evil people go when they die. Consider enrolling in their outpatient treatment program before things get so bad that you end up needing to be an inpatient! If this place sends me a bill I'm fucking suing. I was brought here in handcuffs against my will because I expressed suicidal thoughts to a friend. People in need deserve better. It was genuinely horrible. Random screaming day and night, rooms with that awful reinforced square window in the door, everyone walking around wearing blankets (it was fucking freezing), absolutely no privacy. No hot water, no doors on the bathrooms, no clocks, no way to lock doors. Another patient entered my (shared) room regularly without knocking at random hours. Like anyone else, I have various coping mechanisms that were suddenly off-limits. I couldn't exercise, couldn't play music (even on headphones), couldn't read (the only books we got were coloring books). I couldn't even speak with my family. But worst was not knowing when I'd actually get out. I'm prone to panic attacks and being in that little room under very high stress was really not OK. The food was almost inedible and you had to ask just to get water (sometimes they said no). All the time I was told "just be cooperative," "say what they want to hear." And I mean by staff. It really felt fascist. Amazingly, my time with a psychiatrist amounted to no more than about five minutes a day. In a mental health facility. Mental health will only get worse in this country if we continue to treat people with mental health issues like criminals--or worse. What happened to me was deeply traumatizing and absolutely made my situation worse. I actually had a therapy session the other day and I nearly canceled after having a panic attack in my Uber. I am so terrified at the thought of going back there. I really hope USC ends its relationship with this horrid institution. All of this is beyond unacceptable. Sketchy hospital. Patients come here to die. Staff don't do rounds. Don't feed the patients. Give patients meds just to shut them up. Place is a real nightmare! Surprised it hasn't been shut down yet. All the staff licenses are in jeopardy. This place is a Huge liability! For the sake of you and your family do not come here. Stay safe at home. read more

Joint Commission liscensing this facility should inspect it again. Poor coordination of care and during covid did not wear masks generally when I visited my family member. Poorly trained staff. read more

Las encinas made a difficult psychiatric evaluation easier. The food is good and the accommodations are okay for what they are. 3 beds per room but I had two nights by myself. The nursing staff seems to really care. read more

I have now had two horrible experiences with this facility. The first was with a family member several years ago when I did not think their psychologists were professional with follow up. The second experience was just recently with a client, who was not told the psychiatrist who saw her in an emergency situation was not covered by her insurance. The admissions staff was not particularly friendly or helpful either. read more
