    Birria Tacos
    Brittany C.

First time coming here on our way back from Herkimer, New York Jose was our server and he was amazing. We saw a sign on the door that if you danced your way to your table, you got something free... So we danced! We got a free taco and a free shot! We started off with the patron tree and ordered mango, peach, raspberry, and strawberry. We opted for on the rocks versus frozen. All of them were very good not overly sweet. For apps, we got chips and homemade salsa with the diablito queso (jalapeños) We ordered the Birria tacos, and the three taco combination with Carnitas and tacos al Pastor. There's a cute little photo station and a chill bar set up.

    Guava-ish margarita and a non-alcoholic mojito

I appreciate Mexican restaurants that serve their foods a little differently than what you might expect at more traditional places. Las Margaritas combines that with a beautiful interior, fun music, a colorful menu, and excellent service. We arrived on a Friday evening right after their daily happy hour was over. It was busy, and we were told we'd either have to wait a bit or that we could sit at the bar. We chose the latter - I rarely have a problem with this, because typically you get faster service. This was indeed the case. I was on a slightly restricted diet at the time, so I couldn't have alcohol, and I asked about non-alcoholic drinks. The only one I was offered was a non-alcoholic mojito. It was quite flavorful and a good deal too. But next visit, I hope to try some of the wide variety of their margaritas. One disadvantage of sitting at the bar was that we were not offered chips and salsa. I don't know whether that was an omission or policy. So we ordered a chicken nachos appetizer, which came out very quickly. It was quite simple - grilled, pulled, spiced chicken, tortilla chips, and a cheesy sauce with a nice kick. Perhaps unusual not to have other traditional toppings, but they weren't needed. Besides finishing the nachos quickly, I was dipping my fork back into the cheese sauce for more. Our meals came out equally quick. My chicken fajitas were amazing, seasoned like no others I've ever had. You only get 3 tortillas, and more than enough meat and vegetables, so I enjoyed eating some right off the serving plate (I almost forgot I had the tortillas). A side plate had rice with chopped vegetables in it, plus some refried beans served slightly differently than traditional, another plus. This was accompanied by a very small ramekin of guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and pico - not a lot, but I really didn't need more, it would have just taken away from the flavor of the chicken, onions, and peppers. My dining companion had the shrimp tacos. He said that while they were very good, he thought they would have been even better with some cole slaw and a spicier sauce. We did not order dessert, but I saw churros pass by on their way to another customer. These were also presented well. Service was excellent, everyone works as a team here, and we were checked on constantly. I'm lucky to live about the same distance away from this restaurant and their second one in Latham, and I look forward to patronizing both of them as often as I can!

All I can say is WOW! The best tacos I have had In a long time! Came here while on vacation and we made the right decision. The tacos were amazing. We ordered chips and queso and all different types of tacos. we had to try a margarita so we got the patron margarita flight. Staff was super friendly and they even gave us a free shot of tequila after dinner.

The service was great! Our drinks were out very promptly. The steak, shrimp, and chicken fajitas came out sizzling and were very flavorful and tasty. The ambiance was fun and lively, with staff singing and celebrating for a customers's birthday. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Came here for lunch with my hubby. There's a sign on the door saying if you dance to your table, you can get a free tequila shot, taco, or scoop of ice cream. I fully committed to the bit! Asked for a tequila shot but our waiter forgot. I didn't really NEED the shot so I didn't ask a second time. There was a deal of buy 1 get one free for pina collada's. My 1st was strong and tasty! I couldn't even try to think of drinking a 2nd with lunch so I asked for it to go. The star was lost because they gave me a virgin one! I went to have my drink later in the night and was disappointed with the lack of alcohol. They give you complimentary chips and salsa. Normally I like my salsa chunky, which this one wasn't, but it had a smoky chipotle flavor which i really enjoyed. I had the birria tacos which was a large portion and delicious. My husband had the beef tamales which he always gets when we go out for Mexican and said these are the best he's had. Will definitely return!

If you are looking for a chill bar with good specials and happy hour look no further. Very solid $5.99 frozen margarita for happy hour, $5 queso, and great specials for every day! $3 tacos you cant go wrong. They have a solid corn shell and its huge. It is slightly more americanized but delicious. Service is very quick.

Though it is not my go-to place when I want to have quiet conversations with my partner or friends, it's a joyful restaurant with good food and a great staff. My friend had his birthday there yesterday, and it was just perfect. (I personally love their ceviche.)

This place was so much fun. It was brightly colored and the music was going. The drinks were excellent, and they had an extensive variety. The food was also good with huge portions. I had the birria tacos, I could only finish one! My husband had this dish with chicken, steak, and Chorizo. The chorizo was like the chorizo we ate on our honeymoon in a resort in Cancun. This restaurant was fun, they presented different tequilas and desserts to celebrate birthdays. Our server was also very friendly.

I have a group of long time girlfriends. We celebrate individual birthdays each month. Julie picked Las Margaritas Mexican Cantina, since that was close to her house. OMG!!! We were blown away by the "birthday serenade". You've got to check this out. The singing, the Mexican music AND a wooden board of tequila shots for everyone at the table. FREE The food is absolutely delicious, the service is friendly and accommodating and their selection of Margaritas will blow you away. A few of us ordered non-alcoholic ones because the weather was cold and rainy. Great atmosphere and very reasonable pricing. We'll definitely be back!!!

The food, service and ambiance were fantastic. Hubby had the burrito bandera. The picture does not do it justice. This thing was huge and he said very tasty . I had the birria tacos and they were super good with flavorful beef consommé on the side and a chipotle sauce . Margaritas were good and the chips/salsa came warm with a nice little hint of cilantro.

Update: STILL GOOD! I will say I wasn't so pleased with the service this time. The food and drink made up for it. It was a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't crowded or super rowdy.

Found a new spot that will be a regular for me. The food is delicious. The service is great. Ambiance is cool and the drinks are on point. I can't wait to come back and try other menu items. There's even a vegan menu. The drink menu is extensive and the desert menu is nice too. I loved the tacos veganos and my bf said the Birria tacos were some of the best ones he's had in this area. Diana was our waitress and she's amazing. Will definitely be back soon.

Lovely Dayanna served us at the bar and her charming service helped make the experience memorable.

We were surprised at the lack of customers when we arrived at 6 PM on a hot and muggy Tuesday. There were a couple of parties on their covered patio, but only one booth in their dining room was filled, and there was no one at the bar or in the cocktail area. This is a shame, especially with the old style jazz music that was playing and the attractive ambiance. And, I'll say right up front that our meal was enjoyable with top level service. From their list of crafted cocktails my wife decided upon a zero proof Elixir, Scarlet Begonias ($14), crafted with Lyre's London Gin, earl grey and butterfly pea flower simple, and lime. It was quite flavorful and beautifully presented. While they didn't offer any draft beer, my eyes immediately focused in on Left Hand Brewing's Milk Stout Nitro ($9) - I hadn't had one in a long time, and its flavors of brown sugar, vanilla, and coffee were still so amazing. One of the highlights of our meal was the Forager Toast ($18) that we had as an appetizer. The lightly toasted and flavorful bread was topped with herbed ricotta, local roasted mushrooms, and arugula greens with an oil drizzle. This was so tasty. For her entrée, my wife chose the Scallops Marrakesh ($32) with a half-dozen large scallops over tomato, garlic, olives, and chickpeas with Moroccan spices on dressed arugula with grilled lemon. While the scallops lacked a more beautiful browning from searing, the dish was otherwise very good. As a side note, the half portion she took home that evening was even more flavorful the following day after all the flavors had more time to meld together. I ordered the Seafood Thai Curry ($36). The mix of mussels, arctic char, scallops, seasonal vegetables, and a very flavorful yellow curry with jasmine rice off to the side, was truly a hit with me. While the spiciness was not too great, it was definitely noticeable and perfect for my palate. I was too full after eating all my Seafood Curry to consider having dessert, but my wife had saved room by planning to bring a portion of her entrée home. Her choice was the Pistachio Tiramisu ($15). Beautifully presented with its ladyfingers soaked in espresso liqueur, mascarpone cream, pistachio glaze, and whipped cream with an espresso dusting, it tasted as good as it looked. She allowed me a taste. Relaxing with cups of freshly brewed coffee at the end of your meal is always a good idea at either Mint location. I believe it may be FTO French Peru from Capital City Roasters.

The bar tender, Noah, was impressive and friendly in that he knew his liquor stock very well, and could explain the flavor intricacies of the various types of bourbon, vodka, and gins. They also offer some non,-alcoholic beverages for the "designated driver" of the group too. We watched Noah make everything from regular and "dirty martinis" with fresh ingredients, as well as one drink where he used a butane lighter and some tiny cedar chips in a straining tool above the drink to give it a fresh, authentic smoky look and flavor. Noah knows his stuff!!!!! The patrons were friendly, diverse, and easy to socialize with if you chose to do so. The establishment is pet friendly for "socialized pets" with a water bowl outside the establishment and some free Milkbone treats inside. Keep in mind that this establishment is a "tasting room" with the majority of products from the New Scotland Distillery, but there are other options. Just don't expect to get a Bud Light Draft or food here. The only downside is that parking in the Lark Steet and State Street location is difficult to obtain without some effort, but we managed to park our vehicles 2 blocks away. This is not a direct criticism of the establishment because the experience is well worth this minor potential inconvenience. We would definitely go back there again, especially for the specialty drinks or the flights and half flights of their bourbon and vodka products. Thank you once again, Noah, for a pleasant and educational evening!!!

The restaurant is gorgeous, in a former bank, they have a parking lot and a small patio. We loved the dark and moody vibe of the place. I was very excited to try some of this chefs work after drooling over the menu for weeks. We were welcomed by Vince, who was super friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. He provided great service through the whole meal. We started with martinis, they have a great cocktail program. I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese olives and it was perfect, and strong. We also opted to try the Oyster Shooter, how fun! It was an oyster served with a little shot of gin with cucumber. The shot was sweeter than I expected, but I simply had to try it. We probably didn't need an appetizer, but luckily the Bao buns were the perfect size for two. The Korean fried chicken was crisp and moist and coated with a thick sweet and spicy sauce. It definitely had some heat, but it was a nice heat. The peanuts and cilantro paired great with the buns. Besides the menu, they had a number of specials for the evening, so keep your options open. We did decide to stick to the menu though. I ordered the signature duck and my sister ordered the porcini ravioli. The duck dish was stunning, I couldn't take enough photos of it, and the taste blew me away. The duck was so crispy and tender, the fatty flavor reminds you of a holiday. The carrot puree, potatoes, greens and cherries added complexity and balance to the plate. I never finish my dinner, and I ate every morsel on this plate. The porcini ravioli was no different, it was incredible. The thick creamy sauce had so much flavor we were trying to guess what was in it. It was so rich and dreamy and the additional of walnuts was a fun crunch. If you love mushrooms, get this. We loved this meal, and I will rave about it. I also appreciate that the specials were priced similarly to on-menu items. Will definitely be back to sample the paella and fresh pasta, unless enticed away again by specials!

I was warmly greeted, seated, and given a menu and then it took some time, well after I was ready, to be visited to place my order. No biggie, but I was ready and it wasn't busy, with guests at 1 other table. When I finished my meal, I waited again. Not a huge problem but a lot of side work was being done vs providing service. I let server know I was all set and he acknowledged then continued to make drinks for kitchen staff. I had ordered lemonade but after checking, it looked like they were out, so he offered the juice (without explaining). Food was very tasty. Lunch was $37 before tip, for 3 tacos meal, 3 empanadas app, and the fruit drink.

The service is prompt and very accommodating to me and my food preferences. I cannot rave enough about the meal; I'm very snobby if you will when it comes to quality and the chicken quality is superb. You will not find a better chicken sandwich anywhere else!

First, your Brunch menu and food are excellent, when we finally got our food - after roughly an hour of waiting - I was instantly reminded of why Dove and Deer is great - bold flavors, excellent preparation, gorgeous plates all in a city that desperately needs it. Second, I really felt bad for the 3 people responsible for running an entire restaurant on a Sunday (two waiters and one person in the kitchen). They did their absolute best, were so kind and apologetic, but obviously completely stressed out and frazzled. Tables got up and left after waiting for someone to get back to them - and we almost did too. It's unfair to restaurant staff to put the burden of running an entire place on them. I get if someone called off and you're short staffed 1 or 2 people, but did everyone call off? Besides 3 people? Come on. You have a real opportunity to be a go to brunch destination, my advice is to staff appropriately and give it a real go or risk customers not getting to experience the greatness that is your food - and taking their dollars to someplace far more mediocre. The only reason this isn't a 2 star or 1 star review is because of how hard your staff tried, and how good your food is (when it finally shows up).
