My wife is from Albany, and I've been making the trip to the Capital Region for the past 14 years. During all that time, I can honestly say this is the best meal I've had in the area. Every course was exceptional. The crab cake was outstanding, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and, as my wife said, it was the best blondie dessert she's ever had. The service was warm, attentive, and professional from start to finish. The cocktails were also outstanding--easily on par with some of the best we've enjoyed in major cities across the country. This restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. It's clear the team takes pride in every detail, from the food and drinks to the hospitality. My wife and I will absolutely be back. Impressed with the vibrant crowd on a warm weeknight, when all but one outdoor table was occupied and about 75% of capacity inside. As I waited for the hostess she was clearly overwhelmed and couldn't eek out a smile to any of the people she greeted. In the lively restaurant, a few tables of girls-night out, birthday dinners, couples both young & old, bar seating with the World Cup on TV. Our server was very pleasant. The food was good, by Albany standards, heavy on the butter, salt and cream. It wasn't bad but for me they could pull back on the richness and let the herbs/mushrooms/fish/etc shine through. 2 out of the 3 us intentionally only ate half our portions, planning to eat the rest "tomorrow" and told the server we wanted to box them togo. She offered to do that for us, while we were happily chatting, sipping the rest of our wine. When the boxes didn't reappear, the server apologized that someone threw the boxes away. It was disappointing, especially when we paid $25-28 dollars for our plates of pasta. Based on the overworked hostess and server, management needs to adjust their staffing to insure a better customer experience. When they toss out leftovers, not just a single bite, but huge plate of food, it would seem appropriate to provide a "peace offering" perhaps put a small dessert togo or certificate for a free appetizer on a future visit. If you are looking for crave-able bites and you do not mind a bit of crowd chatter, go. You will not be disappointed. Lovely farm to table restaurant in Stuyvesant Plaza. The servers were incredibly friendly and they were able to accommodate multiple larger parties at once. I was there with a group of 6 and next to us was a table of about 12, plus a full restaurant. Food was coming out consistently and was all excellent! The daily specials all sounded so great! The waiting area near the entrance is spacious, so you can comfortably chat while waiting for your table. The staff were very friendly and professional. My friend ordered the half chicken and I had the beef burger. Both dishes were nicely presented and delicious. The burger looked a little small at first, but it was actually very filling -- I didn't even touch the fries! We shared a cheesecake for dessert and it was light, fresh, and really tasty. Stopped to get lunch on our way . It seemed nice from the outside and the Google reviews were good. Walked in to a fancy looking interior. Given it was a Sunday we were told they only served tor Brunch menu which didn't have anything we were looking for. From the menu we ordered the Hot chicken sandwich with truffle Parmesan's fries and Athletic brewing lemon Radler . Anna was our sever . She was not available to take our order in time. After a long wait we ordered and were served the clChicken sandwich n fries . The meat was cold inside and the sandwich itself had no flavor. The Truffle fries were soggy . Our sever was not available to complain or call out the cold sandwich. After a long wait she appeared and took the sandwich back and ordered for a replacement. After another long gap they got us a new sandwich but no fries . How petty can a restaurant get . The replacement sandwich was no better , but we took out the flavorless meat out and ate the bun and soggy fries as we were very hungry and had a long drive . I've eaten at Josie's for brunch a few times and I would say each time was relatively good. However, tonight I went there for a birthday dinner for the first time and there were a few things that missed the mark. We had a 6pm reservation and the restaurant wasn't too packed maybe 40% capacity. By the end of our dinner they had picked up in capacity to maybe 80%. Our waitress took our orders. I had the half chicken, another had tortellini, and another had pork belly and truffle fries. When the food came out to us after a long period of time my entire dish was barely passable warm as was the truffle fries. Our waitress came to check on us but before I began to tell her my issue and she walked away. I'm not sure if she just didn't hear me cause it was starting to get a bit busy. What happened next was 36 minutes of trying to make eye contact, flag her down, and awkward waving. We finally connected and I told her that the food had come out cold. She offered something else or to refire it however the rest of my party had long since finished and we're patiently waiting for dessert. I declined, and they ordered dessert. A lava cake and the Blondie. The Blondie came out first and the waitress apologized that lava cake was delayed because it wasn't the right temperature. They finished the Blondie and waited another long while before the lava cake finally came. Shortly after the last dessert the waitress brought the bill. She mentioned that her manager was willing to comp the lava cake for the issues with the chicken and long wait for the lava cake. It was a $12 comp on 2 items totalling $43. (The chicken $31, and the lava cake $12). I was incredibly surprised they would not comp the chicken meal as I only ate 2 pieces of asparagus, 1 mushroom, and 3 small bites of chicken. It feels like a no brainer and good customer service to remove a dish from the bill that wasn't eaten. We left dissatisfied, disappointed, and still very hungry from the little food I had eaten. Made a reservation for 6 online with no issues. Our reservation changed to 7 people where I had to call in and put down a credit card for a no show fee of $20/person which wasn't an issue. Easy to adjust our reservation back to 6 without a problem due to changed plans. Walked in and sat immediately near the kitchen but it was quite cold inside. Once everyone showed up, service was pretty consistent but definitely took some time before people came. Re-ordering drinks definitely took awhile though. We ordered a variety of their appetizers including a dozen oysters, Maple Fried Brussel Sprouts, Buffalo Cauliflower, Pork Belly, Deconstructed Mexican Street Corn and the Blistered Shishito Peppers. Everything was pretty good but we loved the tender Pork Belly, the Brussel Sprouts and the Street Corn. For our entrees, i shared the Mushroom Pappardelle and the Seafood Pasta (special) and both were delicious. Overall, the food was amazing and had a great time but definitely takes some time for the drinks to come out (even glasses of wine). Josie's table is a delicious new(ish) addition to the Albany area! Their menu is seasonal and farm to table, so a little bit pricier, but you get what you pay for! The food is all high-quality and beautifully presented. I have been here twice for dinner and twice for brunch and the meals have been perfect every time. Make sure to make a reservation, the place is always packed! The restaurant while always busy doesn't feel crammed and has an elegant yet laid-back feel. I was excited to come back to Josie's to try brunch for a family event! This is legitimately a beautiful restaurant, I absolutely love the architecture and decor inside! Our party was a medium size. It was a busier day for them, I believe almost every table was filled. The service not good, very SNARKY. Which was very surprising to me because the last time I was here the service was utterly stellar! I ordered a tea service and asked for cream and sugar with it. The server laughed and pointed to the sugar packets in front of one of my family members because she had ordered coffee before I arrived, though I hadn't noticed this. He then pointed at her mostly empty carafe of cream with her used/empty sugar packets shoved inside of it and asked if it would be enough cream for my tea. I looked at him as if he was joking and asked for a fresh carafe of cream. I ordered the filet eggs Benedict, which was good but it arrived stone cold. I didn't even bother asking them for hot food because I was afraid of what he might do to my food if I asked since cream and sugar was too aggravating for him. Josie's is my most visited place of 2024. The food is exceptional. I absolutely love the creative menus and how they change each season. The perfect spot for a night out or cozy date night. One thing I will say, is that I absolutely recommend making a reservation at least a few weeks or a month in advance. My fiancé and I love everything about this place. We've eaten here several times. It's a great farm-to-table establishment that places quality over quantity. THE FOOD: The menu has eclectic and unique takes on familiar dishes so it doesn't feel foreign, yet it is something you've never eaten before. The menu is also not too big either, which is a green flag for me. I weary of restaurants with large menus. They change the menu quarterly according to the season so there is always something new to try. The food always has great presentation when it comes out and it always tastes very good. The open view of the kitchen from the dining area instills confidence in how good is prepared and cooked. Most recently I wen there for my birthday and got the Tortelloni and it was delicious. AMBIANCE: The ambiance is enjoyable. The noise level is never loud or distracting here. I feel like I can have a conversation with people here without leaning in to hear or shout across the table. They did have some available outside in the extremely hot weather but they did have a ceiling fan which helped a little bit. The service was a bit slow for us for some reason. Everyone who got sat after us were already eating before we even got our food but it was OK. I was in good company. The service was friendly enough. I got a salad that was on special. It had a few orange slices, a few cut strawberries slices, some slivered almonds, some greens and a sprinkling of goat cheese. Kind of sparse. It was ok. Someone else got a salad with Barrada but when she cut it open it didn't do the thing. She said it was delicious! Someone else got a big fat burger and it looked really good. We also got the hummus and veggie appetizer which we thought would come with fresh veggies but they were all pickled but there were a few cucumbers and the bread was delicious. We thought that they were going to be fresh veggies. I don't believe the menu specified. It was actually kind of disappointing. The hummus was good though. Wow. Josie's delivered on all fronts and I'm really impressed. We rocked up for brunch for our reservation and were promptly seated. The place we buzzing and now I realise it wasn't the music, but the hubbub of chatter from diners, that made me talk as if I was in a club = at high volume. Service staff struck the right balance of helpful and efficient, and although I would've liked our food to come out a tad sooner, they didn't give us a hard time when it came past their closing time. - Nashville hot chicken sandwich: an impressively tender chunk of chicken with a nice crisp and seasoning on the outside + robust yet tender brioche buns that somehow had a nice crunch on the outside + nice golden brown fries = 4.5/5. If I were to nitpick, I wish the fries at the bottom of the tin cup were as good as the ones at the top. - Avocado toast: chilled creamy smashed avo, red wine onions, a soft-boiled egg, and pepitas on a slice of hearty toast. 5/5 A great warm, inviting atmosphere was an icing on the cake, and parking has never been an issue thanks to the plaza location. Wow this place is a jem for this area. Everything was so good. We had the bread and whipped butter, truffle parmesan fries for appetizer. We had 2 mermaid tear drinks and 2 of them Mocktails. The waitress said they can do pretty much any drink in a mocktail. The grilled cheese and butternut squash soup was made just right. The soup and grilled cheese had great flavor. Seems as if the menu is seasonal. The veggies sandwich was on a nice piece of ciabatta bread with fresh veggies and some grilled. I will definitely be back when I'm back in the area. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now. My birthday was a perfect excuse! The 4 of us were quickly seated. We got our drinks right away too. I ordered the Cranberry Cosmo, my husband and older son had beer and my younger son a Saranac Shirley Temple soda. I enjoyed my tasty cocktail. We shared some truffle fries as an appetizer. They were addictive and so fresh tasting. Our waiter was back before we knew it to take our order. Two got pizza, one a burger and I got a special they were featuring. It was haddock with macadamia nuts and a mild curry cream sauce. The fish was sweet with a good texture and the sauce was a perfect compliment. I tried a bite of my son's burger which was very juicy and flavorful. The pizzas had nice thin crust and again fresh tasting toppings. I wish I had ordered a salad just to try it but I was definitely stuffed. We weren't exactly rushed but it wasn't a long dining experience either. The interior is light, bright and open with rustic wood beams on the ceiling and a view of the kitchen too. Always a great time at Josie's. We missed the winter menu but got a chance to dive into the spring menu recently. The pimento cheese dip was tasty and had a nice kick, wished it had more of the bacon jam. The tortelloni was flavorful and the asparagus puree was amazing. Wished there was more crispy prosciutto. A friend ordered the mushroom pappardelle and was offered pancetta as an upgrade and that was not on the menu but had I seen it definitely would've tried. We're in town visiting our daughter at a local college and wanted a grand finale dinner for our visit. I saw Josie's Table on Yelp and knew we had our choice. We were able to secure an 8:30 reservation on a Saturday. They contacted us at 8 and let us know we could have a table earlier. We were seated at a comfortable table. The decor is modern and gorgeous. You're able to hear yourselves having a conversation. Our waitress was friendly and knew the menu well. Perhaps most importantly, this is a restaurant for foodies. Every dish on the menu looked delectable. We selected truffle fries, deconstructed street corn dip with tortillas, and a beet salad for appetizers. The truffle fries were nicely cooked and included generous amounts of seasoning. The beet salad included nicely roasted beets, watermelon radish, citrus, greens, and goat cheese. Really delicious. The deconstructed street corn dip was also a hit, tons of flavor packed in. My wife enjoyed a spiced salmon over risotto, my daughter enjoyed a Margherita pizza baked in their gorgeous pizza oven, and I loved perfectly cooked scallops served with fresh pasta in a corn puree. My wife enjoyed their Pinot Noir by the glass and we ended our meal with the best chocolate chip cookie skillet that I've had! The food here is delicious. I'll admit that nothing on the menu stood out to me where I just HAD to try it. But the food everyone chose at our table was delicious. Our server did a great job and got our party of 8's orders completely correct. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and well set up for conversation with your company. After many years of patronizing Josie's as well as the restaurants that came before it with our service dogs, we were met, on a recent visit, with inappropriate demands by a staff member. My husband, wearing oxygen, and i wished to sit in the outdoor door dining area and we were asked in a dismissive tone, which two skills our service dog was trained for and moreover that our dog demonstrate them. We refused to share medical information on principle, with a restaurant employee and refused of course to perform for this overreaching, inappropriate and rude person. We will not be returning to Josie's while this person is employed and suggest other handicapped persons do the same. read more

I've been wanting to eat here since it opened. My husband, who is my almost constant dining companion, showed no interest. The menu featured some healthy foods including salads. He wanted to know, "Where's the meat?" Then one day, he had a change of heart. I made lunch reservations online. It was easy. The lunch specials included a Filet Mignon sandwich, which is what he ordered. He loved it. He paired it with an order of Truffle Parmesan Fries. He couldn't haven been happier with his meal. I ordered a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. At $17, it's far pricier than the fried chicken sandwiches that I'm used to, but it was great. The spicy seasonings packed a punch. Lunchtime can get busy at Josie's Place. The restaurant is a cavernous space with high ceilings, white walls, wooden moldings and modern chandeliers. They seated us in center. It's a raised portion with stairs leading up to it. The space is filled with tables to seat two or four guests. The tables are spaced close together to promote conversation and a sense of intimacy. The problem? The design of the restaurant makes it a loud space. According to Popular Science, loud restaurants have become a trend. The hard ceilings, bare floors, hard walls and furniture are contributing factors. We could barely hear ourselves speak, but we tried to continue our conversation even though the din was starting to hurt my ears. I have very good hearing. Still, despite the noise level, the mid-portion of the restaurant was packed. Our server was a bit overwhelmed. We waited. Perhaps it was 15 minutes before she came to take our order. She apologized profusely for the delay. We were in no rush. She did everything possible to move our food and drink orders along. I don't like the trend towards loud restaurants. We found ourselves in a similarly noisy restaurant setting with friends just a few days later. Josie's is a nice place to eat. It just has some drawbacks. The food is not one of them. Perhaps it would be better if we came at another time of day. Perhaps, we should have asked to sit way back in the rear dining area where the tables seem farther apart. I'll wait a bit before returning. I'm glad they're busy. I hope they can address the noise problem. read more

Super easy to make a reservation via their website. Plentiful parking. Seated right away and all staff we encountered were friendly. Ambiance is nice and clean, if not a little like Kim Kardashian's house (ie sterile). Smallish but interesting menu. Despite it fitting on 1 page, I had trouble deciding what I was going to get. I got 6 raw oysters, it came as 2 types (which I'm not sure of but they were delicious!). I had the mushroom pappardelle which I read is made of fresh pasta from their sister restaurant, Milano. I am soooo happy I couldn't finish it so that I get to eat it 1 more time. My friend got the burger and truffle fries which she finished and was very pleased. I will preface this by saying we visited in October so things might have improved. I would really like to give this 1.5 stars. My friend was taking me to dinner for my birthday and asked me where I wanted to go. I looked at the menu for Josie's Table and I said emphatically "There". We went on a Monday night. It was relatively busy. We ordered the Josie's salad to split which was possibly one of the best salads I have ever had. The meal was off to a flying start but this is where is all went wrong. We ordered the squash bucatani carbonnara and the duck. My friend was greatly looking forward to the duck as she loves it and is not much of a cook. We were very optimistic until the food arrived. It was cold. I would say the carbonnara was tepid, but the duck was VERY rare and cold. We gestured to the waitstaff and explained that her duck was inedible. If her duck had been fine I would have sallied forth with my pasta because, although not of ideal temperature, it was tasty so I could have made do. But since she was returning hers I decided to return mine as well. We waited what seemed like forever but was probably 10-15 minutes and the dishes were brought back out. Now the guanciale in the carbonnara had been heated/zapped to the point that it was rock hard AND it was no warmer than when I sent it back. Still edible though. I can not say the same for my friend's duck. It was now well done, tough as shoe leather and STILL barely warm. I plowed through mine as it was still tasty but she only had two bites. She expressed disappointment and the manager comped us a free dessert (we ordered a flan that was not properly set and was runnier than any flan I have ever had) and took of $7 off of a $36 entree that wasn't eaten. We were definitely disappointed by the whole experience. So much so that my friend actually followed up the next week (and I am writing this review) and management did send a $25 gift certificate (which even with the $7 discount is not equal to the price of her inedible entree) My friend and I were both in the restaurant in our youth for many years as waitstaff, bartenders, and managers. Obviously my meal should not have been comped (I ate it :)) but she did not, did not want the left overs and there was no real concern that it was a very disappointing evening for a pair of friends who were there to celebrate. read more
