However, I would like to file a formal complaint regarding the park's turtle advertising. There is an overwhelmingly large amount of signs warning drivers about turtle crossings. And yet... not a single turtle. What I did see, though, was an impressive number of men (some shirtless) with backpacks emerging from various wooded areas. More backpack guys than wildlife. Significantly more. I came for turtles. I like turtles. The park itself is lovely, but the turtle-to-sign ratio is wildly misleading. Feels a bit like a marketing campaign. A ruse, if you will. My boyfriend was so excited about the possibility of turtles. Then there were no turtles. Thanks, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. You made my boyfriend cry.

This was a charitable event to support Kids In Distress (KID) and Family Central (FCI), serving more than 20,000 children and families each year across South Florida. There were food trucks, live Dj, fun zone for the kids, face painting and kid Olympics. You're able to adopt a duck for $5. Each adoption goes towards helping a child in need. A duck race was held where all adopted ducks were let loose in the river to race. The winner of the race wins $10,000. This was such a fun thing to do with the kids. Looking forward to supporting this event next year!

The security alerts are posted everywhere, "Park Under Video Surveillance", "Lock Your Vehicles", "Park At Own Risk", which actually brings a heighten safety concern for me as I sip my coffee in a secluded area. No pets are permitted on nature center grounds - assume since wildlife may devour a small dog, not sure. Other signs advise pets permitted by park permit only, but does not indicate on the posts about service dogs - kind of confusing. They provide guided nature walks through the park which seems like a fun tranquil activity for people with good knees and a decent pair of binoculars. The far west side of the park provides beautiful views of the New River and small critters like crabs along the waters edge.

While it's not a huge area, it is perfectly sized and quaint with well-lit waterfront sections that even has a few benches and some ornate statues with historical importance all throughout. It's only a block or so away from the strip with all the dining and shopping options you'd like yet it's tucked away in the corner where there's plenty of parking across the park. It's a nice stroll. My favorite part is the corner of Tarpon & Tarpon just a few steps away from the park with the beautiful tree-lined bend proving that Broward ain't so vanilla after all. It's a nice escape from the Miami bustle & the breeze is always blowing even in the peak of summer so switching up your dog walking routine and coming here is certainly a sight for sore eyes.

Centrally-located near trendy Las Olas Boulevard and the famous Intracoastal Waterway, Victoria Park has long been one of the city's most prestigious communities. Indeed, it attracted the attention of none other than Julia Tuttle, the American businesswoman credited as the "Mother of Miami." Partnering with railroad magnate Henry Flagler, she convinced him to extend his railway down to South Florida, thereby allowing the region to grow and develop. Fort Lauderdale was one of the many cities that benefited from the economically vital Florida East Coast Railway, which ran right through it, albeit with an auspicious curve to the west of what is now Victoria Park. This is no accident - at the turn of the 20th century, Julia Tuttle explicitly denied Flagler the right of way through what is now Victoria Park, having recognized it as one of the most beautiful and pristine areas in South Florida. Its elegant oak hammock, prime waterfront, and gorgeous climate had made it - as to this day - the crown jewel of the burgeoning new city.

Lots of great activities for families, sports enthusiasts, and four legged friends alike. They continually improve the grounds making it safe and enjoyable for everyone. Lots of free parking and benches dotted throughout the park for relaxing and enjoyment. Weekends are super busy with peewee games/practices but usually quiet during the weekday mornings and afternoons. Come here often and or early enough during spring training and you might get a glimpse of professional athletes training.

You can come and go as you please…read more As you leave the parking lot to go to the beach, the flags indicated that there was moderate surf and/or currents (Medium Hazard) and a warning that there were Man o' War, Jellyfish and Stingray. We were there on July 2nd and I was surprised that it wasn't crowded. Not sure if it was due to the excessive amounts of seaweed in the water and on the shore which I forgot to take a picture of. The seaweed on the shore was about a foot wide. Needless to say, we didn't go in the water. The ladies' restroom was clean and had soap. We would definitely come back here the next time we want to get some sun.

Just wanted to share an honest update about Dania Beach…read more Parking is $6 for unlimited parking, & there are showers, bathrooms, & a bridge walk over the inlet to get to the beach. Unfortunately, once we arrived, the beach had a very strong foul, rotten smell and seaweed was covering the shoreline. The smell was so bad we ended up leaving. We used to come here often & have so many great memories, so it's really disappointing. Posting photos & video so others can see the current conditions before making the trip.
