Huizenga Park was such a pleasant surprise. We stopped by after a sports event and ended up really enjoying this peaceful little spot by the water. The park feels very new, clean, and well-maintained. There are refreshing fountains throughout the area, which make it especially nice on a warm Florida day. I was also impressed by how clean the restrooms were -- there was even an attendant inside, which you honestly don't see often in public parks. There's a fully fenced dog park with water fountains for dogs, comfortable benches overlooking the bay, and plenty of modern design details that make the whole space feel stylish and thoughtfully planned. There's also a cute food trailer on site that looks brand new, plus a beautiful large fountain and several interesting art installations around the park. The only downside is that there isn't much shade yet since most of the trees are newly planted, so it can get pretty hot during the day. Also, just before the bridge near the park, there's a beautiful restaurant that caught my attention with its stunning Greek-inspired design -- definitely on my list to visit next time. Overall, such a lovely hidden spot for a quiet walk, relaxing by the water, or just taking a break from the city. read more

Huizenga Park located in East Las Olas by the Riverfront. Great for walking, catching a live event , food event or festivals. Great view to the River. I love the renovations and how beautiful and peaceful this park is. You can sit on the many green areas and people watch or relax. You can't miss the red smash burger truck or the amazing large water fountain. There are many walk ways and seating areas. The Public restrooms are extremely clean and have a security guard for added safety. Many drinking water fountains for your convenience and also for your pet. Dog friendly as there is dog park in the area. Definitely a nice gathering City Park. read more

Recently renovated Huizenga Park was a Las Olas landmark that was on my radar. Wedged between the New River and Las Olas Blvd. There are parking garages and surface pay lots nearby but costly. Zero parking surrounding the park, but you can find Las Olas Blvd street parking if you're really really lucky. My wife and I took a walk thru the spacious green grounds. At the far south end is the New River and a small kiddie play area. An open area of just green grass to walk around or throw a football or play frisbie. A fully enclosed doggy park is offered called The Dog Spot - 2 big dogs playing today. Park pavilion bathrooms are open from 7a - 10p which is easy to find at the north end - look for the bright orange yellow and green LOVE mural. Food is offered by the big red food truck called Mr Smash Burgers next to the spurting fountain. read more

Easily one of the nicest parks I have walked through in my twenty plus years in Florida. I was headed to one of my boat tours and walked through the park, absolutely charmed. There is an open park area near a smash burger food truck. Bathrooms available to the public. An adorable dog park with water fountain. Plenty of seating for pedestrians to sit and stop and love the scenery by the canal. If I had this park near where I lived, I'd be here everyday. read more

Two years and 15 million dollars later, Huizenga Park has reopened looking better than ever and new life. This weekend there was a grand reopening party which drew crowds. The park is owned and operated by the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority, an independent agency. Opening festivities included music, performances, poetry, yoga classes, and a community market. The architecture and landscape firm Perkins & Will and MBR Construction handled the redesign and build out. Funding for the project was secured from private donors, the city of Fort Lauderdale and the State of Florida. The park was sectioned into several outdoor rooms to make visitors feel at home. Areas include a dog park, seating areas to eat and drink, an open lawn, and Poppy's Play Patch that has small grassy mounds that children can run and roll around on. A Mr. Smash Burgers food truck was on hand to feed park visitors. Sweetwaters, a sit-down restaurant will open this fall. My favorite part of the park is the seating area which gives you a front row to the boats sailing down the New River. Future events include a movie night. There is also a new restroom, performance deck, a magnificent fountain, and beautiful public art. With the improvements that were made, this park can finally be the gathering spot Ft. Lauderdale needed and deserves. read more

Had a really great time at this park! I went with my four-year-old daughter and friends, and everyone had a wonderful time. The kids loved running around, playing, and watching the fountain. It's a nice place to relax and spend quality family time. I also love that there are burgers and pizza places conveniently located nearby, making it easy to grab something to eat after enjoying the park. Definitely a great family-friendly spot! read more

This park on the southeast corner of Las Olas and Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale was first built by the Downtown Development Authority in the late 1990's and dedicated in March of 2003. It was in honor of H. Wayne Huizenga , well known entrepreneur and philanthropist. I was privileged to work for one of his Fortune 500 companies, AutoNation, and met him several times. Our department worked closely with Huizenga Holdings on charitable events, and community engagement. Wayne passed away in 2018. Unfortunately, he did not get to see all the wonderful new renovations. They held a re-dedication ceremony after a $$$ re-design a couple weeks back. So much has been added and improved in this park. I recently was there for a Yelp event at the Sunnyside Up Market. There are nice swaths of open grass, shaded benches, a hill play area for children, the gated "dog spot" for dogs, a path around the perimeter (walking/jogging?), bathroom facilities, a raised platform, and a viewing area of the New River with wooden Adirondack chairs. The smash burger food truck is a permanent fixture, as well. I know if we lived closer and/owned a dog, we'd be here quite often. Meanwhile, the local residents will be here in droves. It's such a beautiful enhancement to downtown Fort Lauderdale. read more

This newly reconstructed and landscaped park fronting on the new river bridge and Las Olas Blvd, is a great tribute to a wonderful philanthropist, Mr. Wayne Huizenga! Those who knew him and or worked with him can appreciate this beautiful gift. I enjoyed sitting in the ariondak chairs and enjoying the breeze off the New River. Fortunately a sunny day and we found parking nearby in the city garage. read more

The park is in Downtown Fort Lauderdale right by the art museum on Las Olas blvd. It's next to the river front by the bridge on Andrew Ave. the park has been there for years but recently this was completely redesigned to have a fresh look. It feels like an urban oasis with dining, shopping and relaxation. It's a small park but it's filled with stalls resembling a farmers market. It has a civic lawn where you can sit, walk the dog or have a small picnic but you can also sign up for yoga. The schedule is posted on the website. You just need to sign up, bring your yoga mat. There is also a dedicated dog park - a shaded area inside the park next to Andrew Ave. Go over the weekend to see the hustle and bustle. There were plenty of vendors when I went there and it will only get better once the place becomes popular. It's still new and not too many people have found the spot yet. Huizenga Park has gotten a beautiful upgrade recently and I am loving it! Thanks to Yelp, I discovered Sunny Side Up Market (definitely follow them on Instagram for their rotating locations), and they come to Huizenga Park twice a month. I have been three times now, and while some vendors stay the same, others rotate, which I love. Each visit, I have tried new vendors and made connections with people. It is exactly what you want from a farmers market and a community park. The look of the park now is stunning. There is a paved walkway lined with tall trees that offer great shade, wrapping around the main field that has always been part of the park. There is also a beautiful fountain, a dog park, clean bathrooms, a kid play area with small shaded hills, and a section with tables and chairs. It really has everything. Parking is easy at the garage on 2nd Street, which makes visiting even more convenient. There are also so many activities and events hosted here, like 5Ks and seasonal events. I truly love seeing how much the city has invested in this park. It feels special and holds a lot of memories for me, and I am sure for many others as well. The beauty of it now matches all the good vibes and memories I have every time I visit. read more

I have been waiting for so long for this park to be designed and it was worth the wait! It feels like exactly what was needed within downtown Fort Lauderdale!! It's a sprawling park that encompasses space from las olas blvd to the new river! The park has so much and it had many pieces not completed for opening that will be opened in later months! But what was opened now was great! The park has hours 7-10pm daily which is great! It has great lighting at night too which makes it feel safe. Some great features it has so far includes a great smash burger location with seating, indoor restrooms, a dog park, play area, huge grassy field, a mile long pathway around the outskirts of the park, and lounge seating along the new river to watch the boats go by and the bridge raise up. I definitely can't wait to come back to visit the park again as I definitely need to try the smash burger spot. I also want to see the restaurant they are building within the park as well as the art sculptures that are not yet completed. Fort Lauderdale did not disappoint with this park at all! read more

Came here for the sunny side market so they had a bunch of vendors. The park it self is in a great location with a parking garage a short walk away. The park was filled with people walking , children playing, people with dogs and even live music playing. It had a decent amount of trash cans, benches to sit, paved areas and enough green grassy areas as well. Bonus that it's in an area of downtown with great restaurants near by. read more

Huizenga Park opened recently and it is beautiful. I went on a Sunday for the first SunnySide Up Market held in January 2026. The park has a walking path, trees and lots of green space. On the day I went, there were vendors of the market taking up the green space but it still felt spacious. I truly was a nice park remodel and I would like to come back to the next market. I took an Uber so I'm not sure about parking. I did not see much parking. read more

The city did a great job with the remodel of the park. There is a pathway that leads you around the open grass area perfect for picnics or community events. The addition of a small dog park and kids play "hills" is really nice. There is a permanent smash burger food truck and plenty of seating spread throughout the park. They added a deck area with seating in the back along with Adirondack chairs right across Riverwalk N beside the water. The restaurant is still under construction and hopefully won't take anything from the peaceful feel of the park once it opens. read more

Came in for the first time to this park to enjoy a local market. The park had a lot of nice open spot to sit and relax , with a small Doggie park area and kids area. The bathrooms were big and very clean with ongoing cleaning staff. Definitely will check this park again. read more

GORGEOUS PARK. Renovated and newly opened in February 2026. One of the best parks in Fort Lauderdale. There are clean, private bathrooms. There is a water fountain. There is a food truck (Mr. Smash Burger). Plenty of benches, including benches with shade. There is a restaurant opening up that will be on the Green. It's a great location... right on the River and across from the Museum. There is also seating right on the River right across from the park... you might miss it... but it's a cool place to sit. This park brings Fort Lauderdale to the next level. read more

This park is adjacent to the Fort Lauderdale's River walk. The park unfortunately looked forlorn and sad to me. I noticed two homeless people sleeping on the pavilion. This park extends northwards from the Riverwalk and is tucked away beneath the east side of the Andrews Avenue bridge. Its main feature is a large, open lawn in front of a pavilion. read more

Love outdoor parks and even more when they are in the city. We were fortunate enough to attend the Walk for Paws event while we were briefly visiting Fort Lauderdale last Saturday. The park was wall to wall people with their adorable dogs. It was fun to walk around and see all the dogs, some dressed in their best doggie threads. All the dogs and their owners were so nice posing for pictures etc. The event seemed to be well organized. The park itself is charming. Nice sidewalks, a fountain, nice landscaping, clean or as clean as can be that day with all the four legged dogs walking around handling their business. It's situated in a nice area right across from the riverwalk area. A place for outdoor concerts which I'm sure would be fun to go to. Great little park with a great location and a great events held there. read more

It's a beautiful park by the Tarpon River. The city puts on festivals here throughout the year. In between, it's a nice place to come to relax and escape the busyness of downtown Fort Lauderdale. Sit by the river and it won't be long before an iguana comes for a visit. read more

Small park with a spectacular view of the intercostal. There are restaurants and bars near. I was here for the day of the dead parade. I had a good time. They had music, face painting and a nice parade. Its a nice family event. The custumes were awsome. There are plenty of places to park here too. read more

I love Huizinga Park. My basic use for the park is beginning and ending 5k's and community walks. Pretty much any downtown race begins at Huizinga Park. In the front of the park is a large, beautiful fountain and beyond it is a pretty even grassy area. Beyond that is a stage where I imagine there are some performances there, but I have never seen any. I've also visited the park for a few Oktoberfests. The park isn't large but can pack a lot of people into it. Along the edge of the park are benches for you to relax on and there is a connecting trail for you to walk along the water which is always nice to do in the morning. It's pretty much in the heart of downtown/ Las Olas so I imagine this place would be a perfect spot for taking your lunch break at if you can get a seat or a place to have a picnic if it's not too hot. It's kept up well and is always festively decorated for the holidays. It's nice to see a little greenery/grass in a city full of sand. read more

This park also has workout equipment you can use. There is a large grassy area and benches along the edge. There are no restrooms. There is parking along the street that is metered. This park is the center of seemingly every event and festival that takes place downtown!! There seems to be something going on most weekends- from the St. Patrick's Day festival to cultural fests to marathon beginnings/finales to pet events and food trucks and beer events and more! Definitely keep up with their events so you don't miss any!!! Even when there is not an event, it is a GREAT place to just run around during the day. Large, clean park in great location. Great for any group size or occasion...I went to the inaugural #Chilloungenight. Even with the crowd, booths, sofas, tables, chairs, bar, display cars, restrooms...there was still ample space to walk around and easy enough to view the stage from anywhere...I would give this park five stars if it had permanent public restrooms and specific areas for kids and pets. It has the space but I didn't see anything. read more

Huizenga Park - Parkour at Las Olas! - Parks Near Me - Fort Lauderdale, Florida

I have to give it up to the HP! This park is the jump off for pretty much every race that take place in the downtown Ft. Laudy area. And if you don't start there, you end up here for the race after party or at least to check your finishing times and get mad event swag. Most recently it was host to the St. Patty's 4 miler race and launched the annual St Patty's FtL parade. The park's location is just perfect for large events due to its central location with tons of parking to the west of Andrews. For really large events, I recommend to park even further west, past the bars, so you don't have to wait in traffic after your event. Even though I have never actually been to the park for any other reason, I do feel that HP has a special place in my heart since I am usually so desperate to see it as my finish line! For those of you lazy runners like myself, you'll be happy to know that there's a giant skyscraper right next door, to fixate on as you run your little heart out. The park itself is set right along the river and you can walk over behind the stage area and get some lovely river views. HP also connects to the Riverwalk on the north side of the river. Definitely take time for a stroll there and back. As the Sun is rising you can get some great photos! read more
