Such a pleasant stay, charming and cozy especially in the fall and winter months. The staff is super helpful and accommodating. Delicious breakfast and Americano coffee in the morning. It is close to downtown Santa Fe, I estimate a five minute walk. Parking and internet is also available. Yes, other reviews have commented on the need for "upgrades" however the Casita is charming and part of the Santa Fe experience. Honestly I would prefer to stay at the Los Palomos than the overprice hotels near the plaza. For example, other hotels near the plaza charge a parking fee, internet fee and "resort fee". I'm writing this review during my one night stay at las Palomas. Hopefully it improves, but so far, it's been really disappointing. My review is very specific but hey, it's been my experience so here is my review. When we checked in, there were cookies warming in a crock pot, like everyone has mentioned. We got our room key and a parking pass. I asked about the fitness center and was told that there were no keys available. The man at the desk told me that he could let me in since there were no keys. Well, the desk is only open from 7 am -10 pm, so this doesnt make it possible to work out before 7 am. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for my schedule, so I will have to go running outside instead of using the fitness center because I don't have a key. Fitness centers are a major reason why I choose hotels. It is really frustrating to not be able to use an amenity because the hotels logistical system is terrible. Separately, my husband stepped in glass on the floor of our room. We found several pieces of glass. When I told the front desk, I was told that since my room was prepaid I couldn't get a discount. To be clear, I was not asking for any type of discount- I just think it's really concerning that broken glass was in our room and that they should know. I left the conversation feeling bad for bringing it up. If you don't care about the gym you might like the hotel, but I'm not sure you should count on any promised amenities being delivered. read more

These people don't know how to run a hotel. I'm here now. It sucks. The A/C has one setting, and is very cold and very loud, so I spent the night on top of the covers. The wireless- working now, surprisingly- is off and on, which I do not find relaxing. There is no pool. There is one bedside lamp, and it is not on my side. The bed is old and squeaky. We found a lost camera in the closet. Based on the dates of the photos on it, I think it has been there for 3 months. And, the cleaners woke me up by blaring loud music this morning, which is why I'm in such a crummy mood. SUCH a crummy mood. This is not vacation. One thing for sure about this place: The pictures are taken elsewhere!! Not here for sure! I would have never booked a romantic weekend with my future hubby if I had known, but we were BOTH tricked by the pics! That being said . . we lucked out on our room. It was on the second floor and fine for what we needed. Here was my experience last night: I phoned the Hotel to see if they had availability since we were driving over from Sedona, AZ and wanted to avoid the blizzard. The gal on the phone told me they had PLENTY of availability and that I didn't even need to book a reservation since there were so many open and I would be there in an hour. She was pleasant and even informed me of the weather conditions in Santa Fe. Upon arrival, I encounter one of the most unpleasant human beings on the planet. He actually was very put out that I did not have a reservation even though there was availability. He demanded to know who told me just to come in without a reservation and even made a snide remark to a woman hovering by him. He eventually set us up with a room #63 and muttered something about the parking. Normally, I would have told him to just forget it and take our chances finding another place.... However, my husband was REALLY tired and just wanted to go to sleep. We find our room and open the door to discover the WORST hotel room. I am not exaggerating when I say it looked liked something out of a horror movie! I was ready to turn back around but my husband who had been driving for 6 1/2 hours begged us to stay and said the bed was comfortable enough. Begrudgingly I stayed but was pissed knowing I was being ripped off by paying $159 plus tax for this complete dump. As for the room, it had a table in it that looked like it belonged in a garbage dump. The floor was old, uneven wood painted bright yellow. The bright yellow only accentuated the filth in the cracks and in the corners. The headboard was not the one you see in the photos but plywood with some crappy junk attached to it. The bed itself was very odd getting into as the height was at a strange place. The pillows were mostly flat and the throw on the bed had hair on it that didn't belong to us, blech! The bathroom was another mish mash and had 2 junk panels for doors which didn't even close properly. The bathtub was very old and I barely wanted to take a shower in there. Oh and those painted yellow wood floors had something sticky all over them bc our feet kept sticking to them (hence why I HAD to take a shower here). Another thing is that the lights outside were so bright it looked as if the sun was shining at 11 PM. You could not get darkness bc they only had old shutters on the windows and no curtains. Breakfast consisted of 2 bites of a very stale bagel. I get the impression this place thinks they are shabby chic but they are just shabby! If you ever wondered what it would be like to sleep in a dirty old barn then rent out room 63. However, if you want a comfortable and clean place to stay, try the Inn of Anasazi - staying here tonight and it is fabulous! One last note, there should be a special place in hell for the person who designed the website and took the pics of this hotel. This Hotel looks NOTHING like the pics! It's also in a REALLY bad neighborhood (ask any local) so they really push that "only a couple of blocks to the square"so you think you are getting a good deal. Trust me, you are NOT! B and I just stayed her the pas weekend and had a great stay. The staff were exceptionally helpful and informative. We got two great recommendations of places to eat and several of places to visit, almost all of it walking distance from Las Palomas. Their complimentary breakfast was above and beyond--made to order omelets and waffles and fancy espresso drinks along with a compliment of other great breakfast goodies including fresh muffins. The room, in the Pueblo, was really cool, complete with a kiva fireplace. The rooms were clean and comfortably rustic. So that future potential visitors don't get confused, this is a complex of several (5 or 6?) historic building including the Pueblo that dates back 200 years. If you are looking for a modern, posh luxury hotel, that's the Eldorado or La Fonda or such. If you are looking for something really historic, unique, funky, rustic, then this is a great choice. Oh and the wifi here was just about like every other hotel we stayed in on this trip to NM, which is to say not great. Not sure why that is. read more

Exceeded our expectations. The lower priced rooms were sold out and that was all we wanted to spend so they gave us a DOUBLE upgrade . A private courtyard as well. That was great business decision as we will return one day. Location was wonderful a short walk to the downtown area. Pet friendly (in fact MORE than pet friendly/ had a "goody bag" waiting for our dog , with treats and toys. Etc ) The complimentary breakfast was far better than the usual hotel type of complimentary breakfasts. -Made to order omelettes, waffles etc. fresh fruit and homemade muffins. Stayed for the first time at Las Palomas on our first trip to Santa Fe and couldn't have asked for more! The location is incredible, right in the mix of shopping and dinning. The staff is fantastic and go above and beyond. The manager, Al, and his co-worker we're fantastic and welcoming at our check-in, making sure we would be comfortable and all of our questions were answered before getting us to the room, which was just awesome! The setting is great, the fireplace perfect, a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. And last but not least, the included breakfast just spectacular. Lattes, omlettes and waffles made to order plus a buffet of every other option. Will definitely be staying here in all future trips to Santa Fe! read more

Hi! I have never written a negative review before, but here it goes..... Wow. DO NOT STAY HERE! I booked Las Palomas because the Inn at Alameda was booked already and I was looking for another quaint bed and breakfast in Santa Fe. It looked okay online, so I thought I'd give it a try... maybe this is my new favorite spot!? We arrived early and they said they still needed to clean the room (absolutely normal) and would give us a call when it was done. Well... 4 hours later and no call, so drove back to see if it was ready and it was (we were exhausted had just traveled all day long and were just killing time until the room was ready - would have really appreciated a call, but still no big deal - they were probably busy). We were given our room keys and directed to the room... No offer to help with bags or walk us to the room - also totally fine... just less than welcoming. When we found our room (got lost twice) it was basically a small dingy basement apartment. There was a fireplace in there as promised, but it was a tiny wood burning stove tucked into a hole in the wall. The furniture was all old goodwill couches and lamps. It looked like we were staying in a thrift store. Finally, we walked into the bathroom to find an old (not in the charming way) stained tub. Shocked at what I had seen and the price of $350+/night, I asked to see another room. He said they were very busy and booked for the weekend, but could show me one that was still dirty. Ok... So that room just looked about the same but it was in a newer building. He said that was all they had, so I decided to book at one of my other favorite places (Hotel St. Francis) and forgo our Goodwill Suite. When I told the guy at the front desk, he just said, "Ok, you're free to go" and I gave him the keys. I assumed I would get a refund when nothing was said about being charged for the night. Fast forward a week later, I'm home from my trip (BTW Hotel St. Francis made it all so much better - very clean, large room with top notch service and grace). I'm going over my credit card statement when I notice that there is not a refund for Las Palomas. Ok, I'm thinking maybe they made a mistake or it just didn't get done. So I call and they tell me they will not refund me. They argue with me, very unprofessionally, and finally say they will only refund me half of my room rate. Wow! I am floored. There was no communication about this at any step, no effort in trying to make my stay there more accommodating and to wrap it up the person on the phone basically hung up on me! I couldn't be more surprised and disappointed in a hospitality experience. I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Do NOT waste your money here. Even if its a little less than somewhere else, it is LEAPS AND BOUNDS behind other hotels in the area. read more

I haven't stayed at this hotel for a few years. I love the layout but it's certainly in need of deep cleaning and modern upgrades. My last visit was not enjoyable because my room was filthy and the mist memorable experience was the breakfast. Good concept, poor execution. Las Palomas is one of those places that you see pictures of online, or from someone's travel photos, and think, "wow, this place looks awesome!". Well, for the price (which was around $100 for the lowest priced rooms), it's certainly not a horrible deal. It's just that, well, it isn't much more than budget accomodation. I stayed here on a recent visit with some friends. We both booked at the same time, and both booked the same sort of room too, so I was a bit surprised that their room was larger than ours, had a flat screen TV, a nicer (bigger?) bed. Perhaps they got upgraded for free or maybe not all rooms are created equal, but it definitely made me feel like I was getting a bit less for the same money. On top of that, my room had a horrible stench of lysol that couldn't be removed by simply leaving the windows open for the afternoon. Only by starting a fire, and having the room filled with smoke, could I not smell the cleaning products anymore. Oddly enough, though, my biggest complaint is that the courtyard outside my room was VERY well lit at all times of the night, and none of the lights could be turned off nor do the curtains do much of anything (since light still comes through), so I ended up with a well-lit, bad smelling room that I didn't get a lot of sleep in. The next time I'm back in Santa Fe, I probably won't come back here again. (In case you're wondering, my friends enjoyed their room and didn't experience any of the issues I did.) For a budget hotel in downtown Santa Fe you could probably do worse, but that's still not saying much. read more

We walked with the baby in the stroller and though they didn't have the crib in the room as promised when we checked in, they did finally get it to us in a reasonable time. Las Palomas has a lot of character. The water pressure isn't great, the free breakfast isn't great, but we loved our cozy little room, and the people there were really nice to us. We actually switched to a room here when we were staying at La Fonda, because it was more charming and quiet (unlike the very busy plaza hotel). If you're looking for something super posh, this isn't it. But if you're looking for something cozy, comfortable, warm and cute, this place is perfect. read more

The service has been outstanding. We arrived waaaaay early for our reservation, were able to park our car until our unit was ready. We walked to the plaza and in a very short period of time they were calling me to tell me we could check into our unit. This is our first time staying at Las Palomas. I booked the room via Expedia after reading many reviews. I decided to get a condo for a night. The condo room in the Zone Rosa building is great. The living room is sizable, the king bed in the bedroom firm and comfy, the bathroom is on par with most standard hotel bathrooms. I took a 20 minute hot shower and it ruled my world. The skylights in the unit give great light in the room from the vaulted ceiling. I love that I can open ALL these doors to the outdoors and get that amazing early summer air in the rooms! One leads to a private balcony. If you book a condo request one the second floor. Hey! There is a freaking piano bar across this narrow street... pretty damn cool. I can hear a lady crooning from my balcony. I cannot comment on the breakfast since it is right around the corner from one of our favorite places to eat...so, we are going there in the morning without a doubt. If we are to do an extended stay in Santa Fe we will definitely consider coming back to Las Palomas. It is in a great location and the parking is included in the room price. read more

I was happy to find this place at a reasonable price at the last minute. I had a 1 bedroom casita, that was modestly but charmingly furnished with lots of SW touches. the bedroom was taken up almost entirely by the king sized bed, leaving only about a foot on both sides to move around. this also made getting into the bathroom a bit difficult. the bed was on the stiff side, and the bath towels a bit rough. that said, it was nice to have a kitchenette, two TVs, and a CD player in the unit. the expanded continental breakfast included choice of crepe or waffle, as well as special coffee drinks like lattes. pineapple was served on the weekends, watermelon during the week. more variety in the fruits would have been nice, as well as some kind of selection of pastries. but the dining area was very comfortable and the kitchen staff very accommodating. the location could not be beat -- only three blocks from the Plaza. be cautioned that the front desk is open only until 9pm, so a late arrival like mine poses problems trying to find your way to your rooms that are at a different location than the office where you have to go into a lock box to get your key. the office does offer rentals of books, CDs, and DVDs, which is a nice feature. the warm cookies are a nice touch too. I did not get an email or snail mail confirmation even though I was promised both, but things worked out in the end. all in all, I give it a 3.5 stars rating. affordable, well located, some nice amenities and comfortable environs, but you also get what you pay for to a certain extent. read more

It all just depends on the room you get. We got a room I really didn't like. We asked to change and I was MUCH happier! The rooms are all in different buildings that are very different from each other. The service was awesome and the free breakfast was very nice! I had an omelet with a cappuccino and some fruit. This isn't your average hotel. If your looking for something like the Hilton, this isn't the answer. If you would like something a little different for a change, this is a neat place to stay! Just remember to ask for a different room if you aren't happy! I do have to agree that the photos on their site do make it look much nicer though. read more

I stayed here with my mom on a college scouting trip with my mom. I wanted to treat her to a hotel better than Comfort Inn, a hotel with Santa Fean character. This certainly fit the bill. I really didnt know what to expect booking this hotel, it was a bit pricey, right under a hundred a night, but the pictures and location sounded attractive. Everyone we encountered was very friendly, and we were in the fireplace studio, a room was a kitchenette and bathroom, not very big, but not cramped. It think it may be the smallest room they offer, it was the cheapest. It was an older room, the bathroom fixtures were older, but the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The sheets were very soft, and the fireplace was just a wood stove hooked up to a thermostat. It is not the Ritz, or a 5 star hotel, but it is a place for non uppity perfectionist visitors to get a comfortable room with character. Internet was free and fast, and free breakfast was offered. The breakfast was quite an impressive spread, and custom made omelets included. Overall, this was a great place to stay if you want a crash pad, and rather spend your days out on the town, not in the hotel room. I would recommend, for a nice place to sleep, if you want luxury or crisp bleached white towels and expensive sample soaps, look to The La Fonda. The people who would like this place would find humor in the soap provided, it has a hole in the center. read more

I stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights just a couple days ago and this was the greatest experience I've had staying anywhere. The staff was extremely kind and very helpful with suggestions of things to see and do around. The breakfast in the morning was beyond my expectations, fresh and delicious waffles and or omelets along with the normal cereal, yogurt, etc. The room itself was adorable. The bed was extremely comfy and everything was very clean. Plus the fireplace in every room was incredible. Especially after walking around all day in the cold weather it was very nice to come back to the room and start a warm fire. (The front desk supplies you with fire starters and there's wood in front of every door.) I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Las Palomas. It is close to everything which is great and in a very safe feeling area. We took the rail runner from Albuquerque and didn't get in until 9pm. We walked from the train station to the room at night and everything was well lit and even in the dark the city looked so beautiful and I felt extremely comfortable there. We found out when we arrived that they had a free shuttle that will drive you or pick you up anywhere within a mile radius so we took that on our departure. Overall I will likely only ever stay here if I come to Santa Fe again. We only paid $99 a night which was an incredible deal for this place which seemed like a 5 star place. I highly recommend that if you visit Santa Fe you stay here. read more

Overall we had a lovely stay here. It's a short walk to the downtown plaza area, Georgia O'Keefe museum, etc. The room was quiet and private. The breakfast was really great-omelettes and waffles and good coffee! We had good interactions with the people who worked there. My complaints would be their wifi situation is pretty lousy. Also, the room wasn't dirty, but the walls had marks on them and the bathroom wall had some corrosion or something happening in one corner. Generally this wouldn't bother me very much but we were paying sort of a lot of money for this room. Someone mentioned the floors being cold, which I really liked! I'm not sure what the material was-not concrete or tile, but something in between those. The beds were comfortable and the property is quiet. I don't think I would stay here again, I think you could find a better hotel for the money, but it was ok. read more

Such a great experience! My husband and I stayed here for the last week that Ski Santa Fe was open, and we couldn't have had a better time. They allow dogs, which is great because we bring our golden everywhere that we can! They greeted us with a doggy bag full of treats and a toy upon arrival. The room was clean and cozy, complete with a wood-burning fireplace (firewood included). We looked forward to the breakfast every morning which gave you the options of omelets, coffees, teas, oatmeal, cereals and a variety of fruit. We never left hungry. :) Overall, it was relaxing, very comfortable and just blocks from the Plaza! Free wifi, accommodating staff and a great location. We will be back! read more

This place is all around a great deal. The rooms are very original and true to the look of Santa Fe. They are a bit older but with a lot of character. Our room was a single king bed with bathroom and a kitchen area. The staff was very friendly our room was always cleaned after we got back from being out in the morning and the outside area had a lot of patio tables to use. The breakfast was amazing! Again the staff was so friendly. They had espresso coffee drinks, waffle and omelettes to order. The ladies and gentlemen making the waffles etc. were so nice. The location is also another plus. My husband and I walked to downtown every day but they do have a shuttle you can use if you prefer. We had a great time and felt very comfortable staying here. read more
