Everything feels intentional, from the quality of the meat to the fact that they practice whole-animal butchery and source locally through Hobson Family Farms. Love supporting businesses that are actually rooted in the community instead of just slapping "local" on a label. Also obsessed that they make everything in-house... jerky, sausages, beef sticks, bone broth powder, seasonings, even beef tallow. They also carry artisan bread, fresh produce, and organic milk, so somehow I walked in for meat and left feeling like a pioneer woman lol. The space itself feels warm, welcoming, and very Ventura in the best way. Clean, rustic, community-oriented... the kind of place where you can tell the regulars genuinely love coming in. It has that old-school neighborhood butcher shop energy but without feeling intimidating or pretentious. The staff was super welcoming and patient answering questions without making anyone feel intimidated. Whether you know your cuts of meat or you're just there because someone told you "trust me," they make the experience approachable. Honestly feels like one of Ventura's hidden gems. Made my husband very happy. He literally made flank steak the second we got home and was completely content. Now he's suddenly talking about buying a smoker!

I come here often and always wondered for the little things why it's so expensive but never thought about it any further. Up until tonight, I saw a customer in front of me get charged to much for some chips and soda which alerted me to pay attention to my items. I got 2 Martinelli apple juices, 1 coconut candy (shown in empty wrapper) 1 hello panda bear cookie (1.00 as shown) and my total was 11.34.... 11.34 isn't much but for those items it sure is. So I had to check my receipt and walk back in right away. I double checked my receipt and after I was charged for 7 items but only purchased 4. As you can see in the photos the coconut candy eaten already. However when I came to speak with the gentleman he kept insisting and debating I bought 2 of each of every item and tried to argue with me about it. He wanted to see the bag and saw he was incorrect. You can see 7 items shown scanned in the receipt, he was trying to tell me I was counting the lines of the CRV tax and the bag charge of .15 cents. I explained even with out that he charged me 6 items. He debated and had to count my items and some how still said 6? Saying he was counting the bag and we had to do this about 3 more times till he realized the over count. I was at this point over it as a few dollars isn't a big deal but it's not okay this either employee or shop over charges taking advantage of no skew numbers on the receipt. He also at first didn't print me one I had to ask for a copy. He was not understanding of whatever I was saying so I grabbed another small item less than 2 dollars to equal but when he still tried to make it seem he didn't I told him I wanted change even if for 1 item. He gave me change but also didn't acknowledge I never bought anything for 2.99 and my sons panda cookies were 1.00 as shown in picture but not receipt. I know the get down and I'm not stupid this isn't the first time I've heard someone say this about this market but I never realized till today. Imagine the amount of money 2-5 dollars a person they over charge a day and pocket.

The red salsa had a nice heat level (I have a high tolerance) and the green salsa had a perfect level of acidity to it. You have to eat them outside on one of the small picnic tables (which appear to belong to the neighboring stores), or in your car. They're messy, so I wouldn't recommend the car. My buddy brought me here and swore these were the best burgers. Just one bite and I could taste what the fuss was all about. We ordered the cowboy burgers which come with grilled onions, avocado, lettuce, tomato and cheese. They were tasty and oh so tender. My buddy also gets about a month's worth of tri tips and steaks at a time here. They vacuum seal the meat upon request, and my buddy has yet to find a better tri-tip in the area.
