Came in for lunch after it being recommended multiple times by my coworkers and it was good. Its a meat market that also serves food and sells other produce in store. They have a large menu and I went with a Diesmillo Burrito that looked very good. The service was friendly and it has a cool vibe going with the spanish music being played. The tortilla for the burrito was soft and had great flavor. The Diesmillo meat was great! It had a light char and was juicy. My only complaint is the refried beans, I think this would be much better with regular beans. The red salsa had a nice heat level (I have a high tolerance) and the green salsa had a perfect level of acidity to it. Overall great spot to stop by for lunch and grab some good food at the neighborhood bodega. I will be back. read more

Their hot food is top tier and if you want a delicacy, ask for their Chicharron Carnudo (pro tip, the earlier in the morning you go you can get it fresh). I went into this market earlier this week (12/04/25) on a tip from a friend. Ay carumba!!! I will always stop in here (prolly put on some serious el b's) for at least lunch. Had a chicken burrito-finishing it was no small feat. Very, very good food. The meat display showed some excellent cuts. Produce-almost anything you can think of-prices were very reasonable. A staple in Camarillo. If you need to pick up Mexican ingredients, fresh produce, meats / fish and they also have a full service menu inside as well. This is actually one of my favorite breakfast burrito places and I usually get the bacon one. It's been a while since I've ordered one but I noticed it is more price wise but also they've made them a lot bigger. Protip is if you're planning to shop and get food. They make all the food fresh so go to the cashier and order first and get your receipt. Do your shopping and usually by the time you're done shopping and checked out your food should be ready soon. Note if it is crowded and backed up you will be waiting a bit , but the food here is solid and worth it. Produce and meat here are all really fresh and priced much better imo than any of the chain grocery stores in the area. Also they carry ingredients you won't find at grocery chain stores like cactus. It's not a big store but you can definitely whip up a bunch of meals from what they do carry. They also carry snacks, drinks, and they also make salsas. read more

I like the breakfast burritos they have here. They also have a good selection of meat and a lot of foods I am not familiar with but have started trying. The service is usually pleasant and the place seems relatively clean. My only issue is how cramped the aisles are and that they are usually busy. Them being busy further reinforces my decision going there so it is not necessarily a knock on them. I recommend trying them out. read more

Overall, I still love this place. Especially since they're a part of Los Establos (another carnecería that has been a staple in Camarillo for many years). The staff is really down to Earth and they're incredibly friendly. This update is SOLEY for the food serving sizes as of late. Everything else is 5 stars across the board. This is my usual spot to grab Mexican food, especially burritos and groceries. Most of the cashiers (know my name) and the cooks know (my face) that I am a regular. So upon the start of 2022, the cashier tells me that prices will have to go up. Completely understandable, so, I'm not going to complain. The only problem I have though, I really don't mind the price hike, the thing that gets to me, is that the quantity of food they give, has gone down. A regular burrito is usually nicely packed, but the all-meat is a monster. That is why the "could've been better" (because it was) update has been marked. If you ordered all meat burrito (pre-price hike), it would be the size of a small, yet fat, baby. Since the price hike (again, I understand), the size of an all meat burrito seems like a regular sized burrito now. So, why would I pay the upcharge if I'm getting the same amount without having to pay additional for the same amount of carne? I hope they fix this, because they have amazing food, but I see no point in paying extra for the same amount of a regular (not all-meat) burrito. read more

I used to like going here to support my own people but they always try to overprice things when ringing up your items at checkout. Beware they will ring up an item at a different price than what it's listed and if you don't pay attention you'll be spending a lot more money. And it's happened many times not just once. Asada burrito was one of the worst in the Ventura and SB counties! Grisly, soupy, flavorless beef with crap flavor Super burrito, they dump all the sour cream and guacamole in one spot, all the soupy, grisly meat in one spot and all the onions and cilantro in one spot, meaning that several bites of burrito will be all sour cream/guac or all meat, or all onions/cilantro, disgusting Had no idea that this place was related to Establos, makes sense now, because Establos blows chunks too! This place could be so much better. The people that work there are RUDE!!! Especially the girls at the register! I have been hung up on when trying to order take out, left on hold and forgotten about, they give me dirty looks EVERYTIME I go in there and I can't tell you how many times they have rolled their eyes at me. Good food.....service sucks. A few weeks ago i called to place a food order for delivery. I asked if they had taquitos. The young lady puts the phone down and never comes back. I went to pops nearby to pick up my shoes and decided to walk over and see if she will come back to the phone. I watched her hang up on me. She lies to my face and says she didn't hang up. I love this place. The food here is definitely the best Mexican food in Camarillo. Authentic and tasty. In the last 4 years we have worked our way through the menu but I always go back to their bean and cheese burrito and carne asada tacos. It's amazing how many Mexican restaurants ruin a simple bean and cheese burrito. I'm not sure why their burrito is so good. But it is! They also have pre batched home made salsas and guacamole. I always go here to pick some up for parties. The staff is constantly busy. Sometimes I call and the phone is busy or I'm put on hold but I UNDERSTAND they are working the front at the same time as answering the phones. If that's the case I just go in and place my order. Have to give this place 5 stars even if just as a grocery store. It's like a conviene store but for actual food. Just today I stopped by to get some chicken thighs and produce (onions, tomatoes, cilantro) and after having worked all day it was a pleasure to not have to walk from one side of a block-long supermarket to the other for these few items. And prices are lower than at the supermarkets in Camarillo. Sooo...I first started shopping here when they opened because of their low prices. But, but, but OMG the food. IDK how they managed to put the best takeout inside of the best grocery store, but they did! Huge portions of delicious food you all don't even know! Or maybe you do. Cheap eats alert! Picked up food last night and still have plenty of tasty leftovers to look forward to later on. CARNITAS SOPE = generous meat and toppings on a super thick tortilla. The carnitas was tender and juicy. Made a mental note to pick up a couple pounds of carnitas for our next family get together. MACHACA BREAKFAST BURRITO = the burritos are HEFTY! I've tried most, if not all, of the breakfast burritos in the Camarillo area, and this might win top honors for being the most massive. It was not only large, but full, and had the dense weight of a brick. CHORIZO BREAKFAST BURRITO = full of meat, egg, beans, potato, salsa, cilantro, and onions. Chorizo was well-seasoned. Service was very nice. Place your order with the cashier, then the cooks will announce when your food is ready. The cashier mentioned that her favorite item is the sopes. As a matter of fact I know several women that buy their husbands Asada or Breakfast Burritos for special occasions instead of a pair of socks or typical gifts. This place is under new management. The owners are Establos Meat Market. They have one in Camarillo off Ventura blvd. Across from the train station. A second store in Thousand Oaks and now this one. My previous review was from the last ownership. When I found out Establos owns this we went in to check it out. Just like the original one, there is a menu up front above the cashiers. You order and pay there. When food is ready walk over to where the food is being prepared and they will hand it to you. The food is as good as their other restaurants. They also have some chairs outside where you can eat. The butcher section was nicely stocked and looked good. The produce area was nicely stocked as well. I saw sweet onions for .49 cents a pound! A staff member was sweeping the store, she told me that it was important to keep this place clean. So if you haven't seen this place since the new owner stepped in, you should go check in out. It's a nice option to grab some tacos or a burrito right across from the post office on Pickwick. Such an improvement, keep up the good work! Will they change the name to Establos #3? read more

The food smells delicious but unfortunately it does not taste as good as it smells. We orders Asada nachos, Chicken Burrito, Veggie Sope. The Asada in the nachos was cold by the time I got home (I live 5 blocks away) I had to reheat the food. There were looks of fatty pieces in the nachos and it was under seasoned. As you can see in the picture it was over filled with meat but not enough cheese or beans. The chips were not good at all. The chicken burrito (according to husband) was ok it was well put together but the tortilla was not fully cooked; and he prefers the chicken shredded then cube cut. He's had worse. The only good tasting item was the veggie sope. Although it had to much lettuce it was nice and crunchy and well season veggies. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

I came in with a really good attitude and I was very respectful. After a 11 hour shift of working. The employees that work here have a really bad attitude. I'm not sure what their salary is but I got nothing but dirty looks and poor customer service. I respectfully asked if they had put lemons in my to go bag and the guy that prepared my food (tall 250lb guy) replied by saying "I don't know, I'm not you, you should check". As of now I'm rating La Bodega a solid 3 I think there's room for it to improve and I could gladly give more stars then. Pros: 1. service here is 5 stars! The best thing about the place. Everyone from the cashier to the butchers are super accommodating and friendly. This alone has brought me back from time to time. Other pros: 2. Carne Asada Meat was fantastic! Super tasty. 3. Also the little things help, plenty of parking and a clean store overall. The main misses: some items are overpriced, what isn't overpriced is low in stock, and not the best produce department as far as I've seen. 1. Produce could use improvement: initially when they opened the produce section was beautiful, overtime it's become less so. Not the best selection. 2. Pricey in the meat department, while the asada is really good with their marinade I've been finding cheaper deals on meat at my other Mexican markets. 3. The guacamole is amazing but TWICE I've come on a weekend midday and it's sold out. Clearly it's popular which is a good thing but not enough quantity that I end up having to run to another store All in all great people and a nice store.
