Nothing was set up. They finally let us in because it had to be a fire hazard to have that many people standing in the hallway. Everyone was let in and given wristbands. The lady giving them out didn't know how to put them on, so she just handed them to people. Again general admission tables, seating other than surrounding the pool wasn't available. There was no food after 11, or tables set. 20-30min later there was a dash of people trying to set up. One man in particular, I'm assuming he was in charge, came around apologizing for most of his staff not being present and comping mimosas. He was very aware and alert that everything started sideways and he just wanted to fix it. He was putting out tables and chairs in his suit. The bar seemed extremely slow and behind on fixing drinks. Once things got going the food was ok, no complaints here. It was a beautiful rooftop setting, it was extremely hot, the pop up tents provided shade. I would like to go back to give it another shot, when they are properly staffed and the food is better than "ok".

Whether it's with friends or just the two of us, we've never been disappointed. Let's see how this visit went. We were immediately seated once we walked inside. It wasn't completely packed for a Saturday afternoon but staff was really busy with customers. The vibe was one that made us comfortable for the most part. After a few minutes of looking over the menu, we were ready to order. My selection was the Tavern Monte Cristo which consisted of chargrilled chicken and ham as the protein with Gouda cheese and cider aioli fried in a tempura batter with tavern fries. The meal was served hot and ready and tasted great. And having the cranberry coulis as a dipping sauce really added some taste. My only gripe with the sandwich was the amount of protein. I'm not sure if I ate most of it when we dined in, but when I ate the rest for dinner, it was more breading than anything else. Still good but they could've included more. Nonetheless, I was full. Good stuff as always from Park Lane Tavern :)

I came with a girlfriend after a workout for a healthy-ish dinner. We came around 9:30/10 & probably left right before closing because we were yapping. Food took a while to come out - we ordered calamari & goat cheese for appetizers and two salads that we ended up boxing up as the appetizers were filling although they didn't look very appetizing. The grilled chicken salad I got to go ended up giving my partner bubble guts even though it went straight in the fridge when I got home & the fruit vinaigrette tasted very artificial, even plastic. We were sat at a booth & felt a little rushed. The servers started sweeping the floors loudly but it was ten til closing so they probably wanted to get us & the last couple tables out. If I were ever to come back maybe it would be for lunch or a Wednesday Wellington night but although the decoration is fun, I feel much more welcomed at the smaller Kempsville VB location.

It's high-end, which I barely touch due to pricing, but it does not hurt to try something new. Let's see how the evening went. After our entire party arrived, we were all promptly seated. Inside, the decor is perfect. From the bar to the dining area, everything was spotless. You can tell the staff really cares about keeping the place tidy. And they had New Orleans-style music playing through the sound system. Very relaxing. After looking through the menu, I was ready to place my order. I chose their fish special, which was salmon with veggies and a sauce (forgot the name). This dish was very good. It was probably the best cooked salmon I've ever had. When you see seafood with the perfect crust and a lot of flavor, you're in heaven. It did have a small bone and I felt it lacked the amount of squash and zucchini, but again, a wonderful meal. There was one situation which resulted in only a 4-star review. Out of curiousity, I saw on Facebook that they offered $5 discounts. I did let my party know and we were all ready to use them when the bill was ready. But the staff told us the discount was to be used on a table rather than an individual ticket. When we looked both on Facebook and our personal emails, none of that verbage was mentioned. Not trying to sound harsh, but please be sure to state every detail foe customers. We do want to find ways to save some cash out of our wallets. Except for the discount mishap, the visit turned out well. I can say I'll be back to give them anothee go-around. Till next time :)

This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!

They were also out of the snake river Wagyu ribeye and strip steak. We were told they didn't receive a shipment of meat. The food was really good regardless of that, luckily they had three orders of lamb chops left so some of us ordered the rest of that. I like that when you order a steak it already comes with two sides. Other steakhouses you would have to order sides à la carte. The cocktails were amazing and service was great. Only thing that was a little weird was we had two birthdays and asked the manager if they happened to do a complimentary birthday dessert or something for the two birthday guest. He responded politely with we don't do any birthday desserts but you can order champagne since it's a celebration. Mind you it's a party of 12 and each couple's bill was at least 250+. I had walked past this place over a dozen times, always thinking it seemed a bit expensive. I finally decided to try it and confirmed that the prices were indeed high, which can be perfectly acceptable if the food quality matches the cost. Unfortunately, it didn't. I ordered the burger because it was the least expensive entrée on the menu at $24. While it wasn't bad, it certainly didn't justify the price. I'm not completely certain, but I strongly suspect the patty had been previously frozen. The bun also felt like a standard packaged brioche bun rather than something fresh or house-made. My buddy ordered a steak that cost nearly $100, but it looked like it had been cooked in a pan with little care or attention to detail. Presentation and preparation simply didn't match the premium price point. But he was given a tray of fancy salts to use on the steak? We also tried a flight of their three Old Fashioneds, and each one missed the mark. The Black Forest Old Fashioned tasted more like a cherry-forward cocktail than a whiskey drink, and their house Old Fashioned, which included Grand Marnier, came across more like a soda than a balanced, spirit-forward cocktail. Overall, while the food and drinks were decent, they fell well short of justifying the high prices. At this price point, I expected significantly higher quality, attention to detail, and execution. The saving grace was the wonderful and kind staff that work there. They were knowledgeable about the menu and were able to help guide you through your decisions with patience, which I would expect at this kind of restaurant.
