We've been here many times. Sometimes it's a 5/5 experience and service and other times it has taken incredibly long to get service. As a general rule we really like the food, though occasionally their chips are overdone. But we come back again because it's a pretty basic, good Mexican restaurant. I eat here a lot. At least once a month. They have great service and the food is equally as good.

I would give it a zero if I could. After sitting forever waiting on a waitress to get a drink with cold chips and salsa one finally came and then the wait again for her to show up to take my order. By then drinks were empty chips were empty and that's 20 min after finally getting a water. When food finally arrived my chimichangas were so burnt they threw extra cheese sauce that had no flavor on it to cover it but it tasted like burnt sticks. Terrible food terrible service . Even after asking them just to take it back no manager came over nothing was said even after I didn't want anything else and was nice. Most horrible Mexican restraint I've ever been to. I'd stop at Taco Bell before ever stepping foot back here. read more

My wife and I have eaten here a few times including Saturday evening. This time it was with my brother and niece too. Overall, this is a pretty standard Mexican restaurant. Mexican decorations, and all the standard Mexican menu items. I will highlight a few things I enjoy. Had a XX on tap in a monster 32 oz mug. The salsa they bring with chips to the table is very good and just spicy enough to let you know there is some peppers in it. My wife and I ordered a really good nacho platter that has beans, beef, and chicken, along with all the other fixings (cheese, guacamole, sour cream). Their tortilla chips are a little thicker than most other restaurants. I usually prefer the thinner ones but in this case the thicker ones stand up to all the toppings. I also enjoy their seafood enchiladas because of the cream sauce they use. You can find seafood type dishes in just about every Mexican restaurant but not all of them use a generous amount of crab meat and shrimp, and even less have a seafood cream sauce slathered on top of the enchiladas. Delicious! All the other dishes we have had at our table are very standard Mexican type dishes (fajitas, tacos, burritos, quesadilla) and they are good but do not stand out from any other Mexican place. Also ejoy that I can catch sports other than soccer on the multiple TVs around the restaurant. The last couple times we have been the Nats games have been on and I appreciate that.The final thing that stands out is the price. Even with an app and drinks our bill was still under $50 before tip. That is hard to do at any type of restaurant anymore, even most other Mexican places. My wife and I will definitely continue to enjoy Las Trancas on our way through Winchester. read more

I went here for dinner with all the girls I work with. We ordered our food and then the food came and our waitress didn't return to our table for 25 min. I then got up and asked another waitress if we could get some drink refills and cheese dip we had ordered when we ordered our food that we hadn't received. When our waitress did return to our table she very rudely said "What do you want?!?" So when we started saying ...drink refills, chips and salsa and the cheese dip. She said we needed to wait and that we wasn't her only table and we wasn't the only ones in the restaurant! When one of us said "excuse me?" She said " you aren't my daughter!" This was confusing to us cause that made no sense. I will never go back to this restaurant. It was completely ridiculous how we were treated. I personally think she is a racist. This is my only explanation for this treatment. I have eaten here many times before and it was good and this is why I returned but not again. read more

This place is awful! We barely saw our server. Our food was quickly thrown on the table by a different server before he ran off and it was 10 more minutes before we could catch someone's attention to let them know we didnt have silverware. didn't get some of the items we ordered (although they were on the bill). the food was bland and dry. no lettuce, cheese, or sour cream with the entrees. Almost had to beg for refills once our drinks had been empty at least 10 minutes. Asked for more salsa and when it came, it was completely different from the first bowl and literally tasted like spicy water (since it was gross and we couldn't eat it, I guess it doesn't matter that she never brought more chips). When we finally got our check and pointed out that we were charged for items we ordered but didn't receive, she just shrugged and said "oh, yeah. Sorry." And when she brought it back again she had charged us for 2 drinks when I had only gotten water. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. read more

This is my first visit and it will be my last. The service is probably the slowest I have ever experienced and they aren't even busy. The chorizo queso is runny, about the consistency of water and has more ground beef than chorizo. The food is decent but the portion size looks like it should be on a kids menu. I didn't waste my time with dessert. There are far better Mexican restaurants, Taco Bell would be a better choice. read more

Chips and salsa were good. Sweet tea was good. I had the Grilled Trio. It was carne asada, grilled chicken, and shrimp, with refried beans, rice, and flour tortillas. I have waited almost a week to write this just making sure I'm not rating them while I was still mad. First off let me say "The food was really good". Service is what really ticked me off. I went with my wife and grandson on a Saturday afternoon, 5-ish. I ordered a plate that had three different enchiladas, shredded beef, chicken and potato as the entrees. I asked if I could have a cheese instead of the potato enchilada. Upon eating my enchiladas I found TWO cheese and no shredded beef. It took forever to get the attention of my server and point out the mistake. She said she would take care of it. So now I waited for my shredded beef. A young lady, not my server, brought the plate with the replacement enchilada and left. So I try it and its "ground beef" and not "shredded beef". By now my wife and grandson are long finished. Once again I try to get the attention of my server. By the time she comes over I've had it and just tell her "I give up". I point out the mistake and she offers to bring me another. But by this time I've finished everything else (I like to eat my stuff together not just finish one then the other) and like I said my wife and grandson are long ready to go. She says "sorry". So I get to the register and the typical "how was everything?" and I say what I got was good but I didn't get what I ordered. Pause and ladies speaking in Spanish. One leaves and comes back; says nothing to me but something to the lady at the register in Spanish and she rings me up the entire bill. By this time I'm afraid to say anything else so I pay and leave. Just a bad experience with the customer service at this location. By the way, this is close to where I live. I want what I order and I believe I should get it. Sorry... that's me; and the fact they all decided NOT to discuss with me upon leaving left a sour taste in my mouth about this place. read more

Went to the new local Mexican Restaurant Las Trancas....WHAT A JOKE.... sat for 5 min before anyone came to wait on us at the booth they stuck us in. The booth was against a wall in a corner, ...... Then when we got our drinks, they started lining up tables between the booths and the wall. They put 12 people at this table collection. These folks had reserved the party room, but arrived to find that they had given it to someone else. The waitress had to scoot sideways to get the orders from the people on the booth side of the table collection, she could not get to the other side of the table collection at all. When we were finished eating our dinner, which arrived lukewarm and flavorless....we shimmied out between the table collection and the other diners who had been trapped int heir booths, just like us! We stood at the front desk to pay.....When they asked if everything was okay, my husband said yah....fine..... "WHAT- I screamed in my head....... ah well.......it won't happen again.... read more
