I am a 76 year old gentlemen who lives in Las Vegas for over 40years. Las Vegas Ophthalmology formerly Westfield eye clinic has treated my vision issues for over 35 years. A couple years before Dr Westfield retired I changed to his colleague Dr C Edward Yee. His bed side manner was not warm and fuzzy However, his medical training seemed more then adequate. I wear glasses for distance clear and Sunglasses. My Sunglasses were never upgraded to match my clear distance glasses This is where my nightmare began!! I went to Costco eye department to get my new frames and upgraded prescription for new Sunglasses. I was told the prescription was more then a year old I had to have my Optometrist put a current date on my prescription. So back to my Dr I went 1 week later and $50.00 poorer I picked up my prescription and off to Costco I drove. I picked up my new Sunglasses 8 days later only to find that my distance vision seemed a bit clouding. Back to Costco I went to inquire as to why I had an issue with my new Sunglasses I was told the prescription I gave them was different then the one on their record. So back to my Optometrist I went. I was told that the prescription was the proper prescription even though I was told 2 months early I needed no upgrade to my current prescription. The receptionist told my that the Dr must do a eye test before he would issue and sign my prescription. Dr Yee preformed the brief eye test and confirmed that I needed the stronger prescription. I told him that it would be dangerous for me to drive with my new Sunglasses and please issue me a signed copy of the older prescription With no Sympathy, Empathy or compassion. He agreed to sign the older prescription but told me he would no longer be my Doctor. Dr How dare a mere mortal question the grate a powerful Dr C Edward Yee!! Easy to schedule an appointment, great customer service. Appointment day we showed up and there was no wait. We signed in and got paper work and imminently were greeted by the doctor. There were 4 of us so he split us into two rooms. The Doctor was easy to work with. I haven't been able to find a doctor that actually said he knew what my issue was. Over 12 years I have been told nothing is wrong with my eye sight. I explained to him the problems I have experienced over a decade and he just knew what I was dealing with. The assistant that brings you back is awful!! I believe her name is "Nancy" I won't return because of her. She's very rude for no reason and made my visit very uncomfortable. I thought maybe she was just having a bad day ( even though that's no excuse to treat patients that way) after reading a few of the reviews I realize that's just her personality. If you work with people you need to have "people skills." The girl at the receptionist desk was really nice and the Doctor was okay. I told him Nancy was very rude but he didn't say anything. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! The minute you walk in that office you absolutely feel like everybody hates their job. The one exception was the receptionist Mariana and I understand She's no longer there. She was pleasant and caring, but everybody else was rude, uncaring, zero empathy, and in one case flat out lied! It starts with your examination and I forget her name but the woman who does it clearly hates her job because you can feel the tension the minute you walk in the exam room. I had never had cataract surgery so I had a few questions and she actually snapped at me and said"would you just let me do my job and you can ask the doctor those questions" when the Doctor Yee finally came in, he did not answer any of my questions, he did not do anything to try and calm my fears, and did nothing to explain the procedure. Everything was just very matter-of-fact. Then you go in and you meet with the person who does the scheduling with my husband sitting there to hear me ask the Question "will I be put out for this procedure?" To which her answer was, yes. The day of the surgery when I got there, I found out that you are not put out. You are sedated. There's a big difference. I was already suffering from anxiety, now to find out I'm going to be awake while they're operating on my eyeball was not comforting. Due to a number of health issues I'm on medication's and I let the anesthesiologist know that I have a high tolerance so that he could make sure he gave me enough sedative to help. Despite me saying to him several times, I don't feel anything, I don't think you've given me enough he ignored me. As Dr. Yee proceeded to begin, I told him I could feel everything he was doing and he completely dismissed it and just said no you're just feeling a little pinching and pulling no big deal. There's a lot more details that show why you shouldn't come here, but these are the highlights. Now year and a half later, I had to have the other eye done but it already made the decision that I was never going back to see Dr. Yee. I found another place called Meadows Eye, and from the moment I walked in their front door every single person was happy, friendly, willing to answer any questions and made me feel very comfortable. Of course, I explained to everybody what I had gone through previously, and when the day of surgery came, which was yesterday the anesthesiologist heard what I said, and I could actually feel this time that I was being medicated. It got quiet for a few minutes, so I thought they were just waiting for the medicine to kick in before they started and the next thing I knew they told me I was done. My doctor for my insurance sent me here to get my chalazion removed. The good news was I was able to get in and out within two days. The surgery coordinator was lovely to speak with but the doctor was more straightforward with not much warm beside manner. I was not given any post op instructions so I had to look them up on my own. I'm very lucky to have found Dr. Ken Westfield. I originally came because I am formally an aircraft pilot and am trying to get recertified with the FAA, having lost certification due to some degree of peripheral vision loss. Thankfully, Dr. Westfield has also been a lifelong pilot so he perfectly understands my plight with what I'm doing. But that's not the end of it - I feel the man has to be one of the kindest, most caring and patient individuals I've ever met. I was Refered to Dr.Yee at Las Vegas Ophthalmology and therefore I am sharing my experience because you need to know what happened! First off, this woman took me to a room, no cordial introduction, no eye contact! She proceeded to do a test and I didn't pass it! I then was brought over to the very unfriendly Dr.Yee, he didn't look me in the eye at all. I asked if my records arrived and he acted like I was bothering him! He then told me that my vision was fine! It was not! I told him that my vision has gotten worse since my last pair of glasses given to me after I experienced an auto accident. I told him I need stronger glasses! He told me I didn't need new glasses. I told him I couldn't read the letters during the test! He then brought in the woman from earlier who proceeded to tell him that I did read all the letters. So now both of them were telling me that I'm wrong! Then I asked for my prescription and he wouldn't give me one! Never again! Stay away! read more

Update on this, they did send me a bill stating that my eye insurance didn't wanna pay for it and charged me $267 for an eye check up that took no more than 5 mins and did not help me at all. Came to see Dr Yee after a severe eye injury. The only thing that earned this office 2 stars is the front desk receptionists. They are very sweet and helpful. The nurse or technician that first takes you back is AWFUL! She is rude and her answers are short and condescending. Dr Yee is the same way. Neither of them have bedside etiquette nor any human compassion or communication skills. When presented with questions they answer very condescendingly & almost laugh in your face as if it was a dumb question. News flash, not everyone went to EYEBALL SCHOOL!! It's a pity that you all hate your career that you take it out on PAYING CUSTOMERS. Glad we will never have to go back there. If any more problems arise, we will see a different doctor. Very rude staff, including the doctor! What a joke and ripoff. The refractory technician is the rudest human being I ever met in my life. They treat you as if you were looking for a handout, not as a paying customer. My prescription glasses were not usable, can't use them to drive at all because everything I see from 100 yards and beyond is fuzzy and can't read street signs but they said there was nothing they can do about it. My second year with Dr Yee and his staff. The first visit when the office was Westfield was great. Now with a brand new modern location is as good as ever and still a great, considerate staff. this was our first time here with no Insurance so we paid cash... the front desk girl was not friendly at all... no high how are you not a greeting once we signed it... not even a smile... the lobby was a little bit unorganized with magazines laying on the chairs.. the restrooms was missing toilet paper.. and then we get to the back after doing the full exam he gets his eyes dilated.thank god i drove him here..no one advised us when I made this appointment... I purchased a Groupon for Lasik for Las Vegas Ophthalmology and scheduled an appointment. I was able to get in within a few days. The staff was polite, pleasant and professional. It was determined I was not a candidate for Lasik but they sent me to another facility to be tested for PRK. Dr. Yee was very honest with me and let me know that it would be too risky to perform any surgery on my left eye. I am very relived that I went to a reputable establishment that was not there just to take my money. I learned a lot about my eyes. I originally got in touch with Las Vegas Ophthalmology to get contacts and to be screened for an eye disease that my runs in my family (I'm in my early 30s). Scheduling: When I call to make the appointment, the person I speak to tells me that they don't do contacts, but they could do the screening. I agree and we schedule my appointment. I get a voicemail later on asking me to give them a call back about my appointment, and I call back 2 times without getting an answer. On my third try, I finally get through to a different receptionist. She has no idea why they had asked me to call, and keeps asking ME why their office had wanted me to call them back-- how should I know? I tell her what I had originally called to schedule (contacts and eye disease screening) but that I would just be doing the screening. She seems very confused and told me that they don't do contacts. I know. I literally just told you that I would be going somewhere else for contacts. So we hang up, and a few days later I get another call from them to once again reiterate that I will be getting the screening only, and that they recommend not using my vision insurance and paying the cash rate of $75. No problem, but I don't understand why this took three phone calls to iron out. Appointment: When I get there for the appointment, the receptionist who checks me in is once again confused about my appointment. I once again state that I'm there for the screening. I sign in, pay my $75, and sit down. An assistant comes and gets me from the waiting room within a couple minutes. As she's walking me back to the room to dilate my eyes, she stops at a coworkers desk to talk shit about the receptionist as I awkwardly wait behind her. I am all for petty office drama, but at least wait until no patients can hear you. She dilates my eyes and I wait for the doctor. The doctor comes in, looks in each eye for about 10 seconds, and then tells me that I don't need to be here for a screening because the eye disease doesn't even show up until you're in your 50s, so I just need to wait 20 years to see if it I get it. And no one thought to tell me this in one of the THREE phone calls and before I paid $75 to see a doctor? Why did they even dilate my eyes, and why did he look in my eyes if he knew that there would be no sign of the disease? Overall, it was a super frustrating experience, I got no helpful info from anyone, AND I had to pay $75 for it. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was having issues with my eyes and C. Edward Yee MD was very rude and would not let me finish explaining my symptoms. Anytime I asked a question, I felt as he was belittling me and making it seem as if I was stupid. I tried having a little conversation with him and he totally kept blowing me off and giving me the shortest answers possible. It was obvious he was just trying to get patients in and out. I only went twice to this "Doctor" and found a new doctor immediately. He got so under my skin I almost felt like going off on him one time that I saw him at a big o tires replacing tires on his white Tesla. He is very unprofessional and has no listening skills whatsoever. The only decent experience I had was at the front desk when being checked in by a young gentleman. If you want a good eye doctor go to NVision eye center. I have been going to the eye doctor there and have had no complaints. The doctor actually listens to what I have to say. It seems to be apparent that I'm not the only one that feels this way being that the reviews are low for this location and "Doctor". Some of the complaints I see here are valid--it takes a while to actually see the eye doctor; if your appointment is 10 figure that it might be 10:30 before you actually get in. And, the eye doctor with whom I've interacted is certainly on the curt side, probably a cultural and generational thing. But they got me in fast when I had an urgent matter, and they switched the prescription when the initial one turned out to be extremely expensive. So it's pretty hard not to give them a positive review considering those factors. read more

This is one one of the worst Dr I have ever been with, Dr Yee wants to finish the appointment as soon as possible and he does not want the patient to ask about anything, at least he will give you that feeling, he does not even look at you when he talks. Brought my mom in and they took 1 1/2 hour to get us in. Total with all the staff members we were at the office 3 hours. And they always had an excuse why it was taking long. And the staff tried to be nice but you can see it in their face they didn't want to help or answer questions and they all looked upset even the so called manager. You see the staff chatting away while we just sit and wait. We don't have ALL DAY!!! DWon't be coming here anymore I should have looked at yelp before I brought my mother. The office is definitely falling apart. I don't think they know what they were doing. As for the doctor, he don't talk much or try to spend any time to explain anything. I have to say this is been one of my most pleasant experiences ever with a medical facility and personnel. I had cataract surgery on both eyes and Dr. Yee was efficient and perfect. The staff could not be nicer and scheduling was never a problem. I found if you show up 15 minutes before your appointment they take you exactly at your scheduled time. I never had a visit that lasted more then 45 minutes from when I walked in the door and walked out. My corrected eyesight now is 20/20. read more

I originally saw Dr. C. Edward Yee as one of the staff doctors at Westfield eye institute. He suggested I get a cornea transplant (the going rate is $28,000.) My 1st office visit after surgery he tells me there's a problem with the sutures he put in and he needs to put in more stitches. Rather than schedule for the surgery center so I could be fully sedated he says we'll do it now. He used some local anesthetic and commenced. It was extremely painful so he kept adding more applications of the anesthetic. That was 2 yrs. ago. I saw him today. Told him something is terribly wrong with my vision. My acuity is good so I don't what this is. He said he's "not an expert" that I should go see "an expert". He has always been unsmiling and unfriendly. I have no problem with the office,staff or doctor matter of fact I like them very much but I do have a problem with the water dispenser in the waiting room. I go to the eye doctor every 4 to 6 months and today is the third time I have been in the last year and a half, the water in the dispenser taste like mildew! I informed the staff the last two times about the taste of the water so today I decided I would write a review I'm at the doctors right now and I had to dump out my cup of water due to the mildew taste. Leaving 1 star only because I have to. The DR is a complete *******. Very rude, a know It all. I tried explaining what was going on with my eye and why the same "resolution" he was giving me wasn't going to work because I already went through that and he interrupted me multiple times, rolled his eyes and explained why I'm wrong and why I should wait for him to finish. Went a little like "well I don't think that'll work for me because ive tried It an----" him : "if you let me finish I said I had two options not just one" literally RIGHT AFTER he asked me if I had any questions.
