Dr. DeBry is the best ophthalmologist I have ever seen. I really appreciated his candor, service, and commitment to results. I had a refractive lens exchange performed by him, and I am very satisfied with the outcome. During my time with him, I felt that his staff was professional and respectful of my needs and time. I was recommended the PanoPTIX Pro MultiFocal Lense in my right eye and a PanOptix Pro Multi Focal Toric in my left eye (astigmatism). I am 90 days post-surgery and feel good about my results. My timeline for a (near) full recovery took about 90 days including: healing, neuroadaptation, and eye dryness. Another thing to consider would be the cost (although I know the doctor can't help it, I feel the need to acknowledge it is a high price point) but in my experience, it is well worth it. I felt consistent anxiety about my healing process. I would like to mention that while I understand everyone is different, my healing process felt extremely long versus my expectations. I had a consultation for cataract surgery. Dr Debry was unimpressive and his office poorly run. I felt this Dr was taking advantage of Medicare patients. Medicare pays for cataract surgery. This doctor had outrageous charges for "upgrades" that he explains are absolutely necessary to be able to see again. I called Medicare and filed a complaint. Shortly thereafter I received a bill for over $400 for the free consultation. read more

I had an appointment at 9:30 am, I wasn't seen until around 10:30 and didn't leave until 11:40. The doctor had over 20 patients waiting by 10 am, which made the whole experience feel extremely money-driven. It seems like doctors who accept Medicaid often overbook their schedules, prioritizing profits over patient care. The doctor spent less than 5 minutes examining me and didn't address any of my concerns or questions about my eyes. Overall, I was really disappointed with the lack of attention and care. read more

Put in wrong lens in both eyes, vision issues, called family rude and aggressive when trying to fix the issue, blaming it on consent forms, and lack of staff communication are all the issues faced with our experience with Dr. Debry. My father has been nearsighted and asked for nearsighted lenses. Dr. DeBry put in "distance lenses" and now four weeks later, my father can barely see. They gave him a confusing consent form that they basically blame everything on; "Your father signed the consent form". The consent form did not state what lenses were going into his eye. When my father had the follow up, it was by a different doctor, and she stated she knew nothing about the issue. My father was very specific that he still wanted to be nearsighted as he has been his whole life. They send other doctors besides the actual surgeon in so you can't address your issues as a patient. My father now has to go to another doctor and spend out of pocket money to get this corrected. Dr. DeBry offered to fix the issue for a "small charge". When I spoke to the doctor, he said I was rude and aggressive. They completely blew my father off and I had to call on his behalf. I simply was trying to resolve the issue in which no one took any accountability. I do not understand how doctors in this day and age are allowed to take advantage of Seniors and treat them, and their families like they are the problem. ONE STAR IS TOO MANY. read more

I am writing this review to help people looking for a qualified Ophthalmologist. STAY AWAY FROM Dr. Debry and his practice. As other people who were brave enough to post warnings, I too feel I should warn. Dr. Debry performed my cataract surgery in 2019. I was told there were no stitches. Well, that was a lie. I just had to see a qualified Ophthalmologist for the SECOND time to remove pieces of broken stitches that were cutting my eye. I was also just told the IOL Dr. Debry used in my right eye has been obsolete for years and no qualified surgeon would even use it. I have very limited vision in my left eye and had none in my right eye up until today when my new Ophthalmologist used a laser to correct mistakes and clean up the mess Dr. Debry left behind. Also know, at your follow up visits you are treated like cattle herded in & out and this doctor will circumvent any question you have or if you persist, give you some fluff answer that he will later argue he never said. You have issues afterwards? If you can even get anyone to listen, the issues will be blamed on the way your body, eyes, and or brain handled the procedure, not because there was a mistake made by Dr. Debry. Please do not allow Dr. Debry anywhere near your precious eyes and be aware, among the paperwork you sign, is a form NOT ALLOWING you to post a bad review on social media. (At least there was in 2019) Stupid me! THAT RIGHT THERE should have made me run away from that practice. I was so encouraged when I saw other people were brave enough to tell the truth about this doctor that I decided to add my review. You will also see, from some of the replies Dr. Debry has given to other damaged patients, he feels he is perfect and incapable of making mistakes or having bad judgement. He also replied to someone that they were not "strapped to a gurney". That is a lie. Your head IS secured with a strap over your forehead and your body and arms ARE STRAPPED to a gurney during the surgery. I see that Dr. Debry still avoids giving direct clear answers and the explanations he does give are meant to devalue the people that posted negative reviews. PS: When my Optometrist saw my eyes after cataract surgery, he said that whoever did the surgery made a real mess of my eyes. When I told him it was Dr. Debry all he could say was "What, he wasn't making enough money treating glaucoma patients? Dr. DeBry is thorough & caring. I had laser cataract surgery at a different practice and developed issues of looking through "white clouds" in my left eye. The dr that did the cataract surgery said my eyes were "fine" and normal. I told the doctor that looking through "white clouds" is NOT normal. No amount of dry eye drops or blinking helped. My friend had gone to Dr. DeBry and had excellent results so I decided to make an appointment with him. He thoroughly examined my eyes & I explained the issues I was having. He explained that a "yag" laser procedure could help with my problem and I agreed to have it done... he performed it at my appointment. It definitely helped... my vision is much better now. His staff was friendly and courteous. Dr. DeBry will be my ophthalmologist from now on. I recommend him without hesitation as he treats a variety of eye diseases and issues. He was ok. It was odd that what he told me was different from what he wrote on my records. There was no sense of urgency when we spoke but his notes did not reflect our conversation. My biggest complaint is, when I didn't follow up I received a threatening letter by registered mail stating that I was DISCHARGED. It was very cold and incorrect because I did speak with his office and told them I was not making a follow up because there was no urgency. Then I received a bill for $50 after I paid my co-pay and my insurance paid his fee. Very odd business practice. PS I saw another Dr today almost a year later, he said I was fine. I am now 76 years old and for the past 20 years, ophthalmologists have been telling me that I was a candidate for cataract surgery and shunt surgery to relieve glaucoma. My response was to postpone and delay it as much as I could. Recently, I agreed to these operations and included corrective lenses. The experience was so pleasant, pain and stress free that I am now very sorry that I delayed it for so long out of anxiety and fear. I can now see very clearly with near 20/20 vision and I no longer see the world through what seemed to be a sepia colored filter. Colors are vivid, vibrant and clear. I don't trust too many people but Dr DeBry is definitely one that I trust just after my first visit! My primary ophthalmologists wasn't in town and the office referred me to another doctor and that's how I happen to be seen by Dr DeBry. I checked in at the Smoke Ranch location and was assessed, treated and sent on my way. One of my pet peeves, which makes me never want to return is when they suggest I come back for an unnecessary check up. Who better to know your own body than yourself right? Dr DeBry sat down with me, listened to me while I explained exactly what was going on, answered all my questions leaving me very satisfied, wasn't in a rush to go anywhere, and best of all, affiliated with my primary eye doctor (hah). Fortunately, my eye Dr. Brian Gaster, who I ADORE, discovered at my annual, that I have "narrow angles" in both eyes. He told me bc of my age, (64) and possible cataract growth, that I could have a "narrow angle" glaucoma attack that could leave me blind. Of course, I freaked! He referred me to Dr. DeBry for a specialized procedure in both eyes, that horrified me, called iridotomy. This, to prevent any future incident. I found Dr. DeBry to be courteous, very professional and easy to talk to. He answered all of my questions. I trusted him implicitly to operate on my eyes. He is a Specialist. I had laser surgery today. I live 100 miles away. I was told the office technician would call in drops to my pharmacy when I was finished. I have been at the pharmacy for 2 hours and have called Dr Debrys office twice . Was told they were calling it in and the next call was the technicians are busy, they will call it in when they can. Just my first visit, but it was clear that NV Eye is a well oiled machine. I was deftly guided through six stations (including ck in and ck out) for the most thorough eye exam that I have ever had. The 5th station was the high point of the experience, meeting Dr. Debry! Almost the end of a long day for him, I could sense a bit of fatigue. September 2021 Dr. DeBry performed cataract surgery on my left eye. The day after surgery I noticed a dark shadow to the left side of my eye, blurry vision, the feeling that something was in my eye and lots of glare. After several follow up appointments with Dr. DeBry, a thorough exam by a cornea specialist of his choosing, and several visits to another Dr. at Shepherd Eye Center for a second opinion, I still have very blurry vision. Dr. Debry encouraged me to give the eye time to heal as he felt very optimistic that my vision I would get better with time. 18 months later, there has been no improvement in any of the symptoms and my vision is in the left eye is 20/50 as it was post surgery, which is worse than my vision pre cataract surgery. I feel that Dr. DeBry has good intentions and means no intentional harm. However, he does run his patients through his office and surgical procedures at an extremely fast pace. At my last exam with Dr. DeBry, I felt he dismissed me and I was left to deal with poor vision created by the cataract surgery he performed. Dr. DeBry made no suggestions for future assistance with my vision, he has not contacted me to see if my vision did actually improve with time as he assured me it would, it has not improved! When I repeatedly asked what should be done if my vision does not improve given time, his answer was, "I see nothing wrong with the lens or your eye, so there is nothing to fix." Well, my vision is worse since the cataract surgery, so obviously there is a problem and something needs to be fixed. read more

Every now and then you cross paths with someone who is a real standout and Dr. Debry is a real standout. A few years ago my mother had cataract surgery performed by him. I selected him because of his excellent reputation. My mother is a bit of a difficult patient because she is so fearful of any type of surgery and has some cognitive issues. Dr. Debry took extra time with her and was very gentle with her and she trusts him. Her surgery went well and she just loves Dr. Debry. Fast forward a few years and she needed cataract surgery on her other eye. Dr. Debry is now in private practice and does not accept her insurance so after some research I selected another doctor. You can read my other reviews to see that we had a very bad experience with the doctor we selected and did not go forward with the surgery. I called Dr. Debry's office and spoke to someone in the office. I was unsure what to do and gave them the background and asked if they had any suggestions. They called me back with a referral for a Doctor that was on my mother's health plan. Dr. Debry had actually provided his team with the names of Doctors that he recommends and he had a few recommended doctors depending on what insurance his previous patient has. Have you ever heard of a doctor doing that? I haven't. I called the Doctor that he recommended, Dr. Brian Alder, and he performed the second surgery. It was a success. After we visited Dr. Alder, I emailed Dr. Debrys office a note of thanks and asked them to pass the note along to the Doctor. Dr. Debry emailed me back personally. I hate to give a negative review but I feel I must. Went to Dr. Siems in 2019 for LASIK. He managed to damage my cornea which caused me a double vision in my right eye. Went to Dr. Yesnick who insisted that I needed a lens replacement to correct it. Went to Dr. DeBry who replaced my lens but did not correct the double vision. Now, I know that things can happen but Dr. DeBry told me on my first exam that I had an 85% chance the lens replacement would correct the problem. Then, he went on to say not to worry because if it didn't correct it he could always put in another lens with the first lens to correct it. Sounds great, right? Well, three months later I go in for a follow up appointment and I tell him the lens didn't work and he tells me a second lens won't correct the problem. He was wrong to tell me not to worry so I'm writing this review to warn others. It's great for a doctor to feel confident but giving false hope has no place in medicine. read more

Okay, let me start this review by sharing my story first. When I was 15yrs old I accidentally got shot in my left eye with a BB gun. Luckily, I was treated by the late and highly regarded eye surgery pioneer, Dr. Steven Shearing (inventor of the first successful posterior chamber intraocular lens) who saved my eye. Around this time I was also fortunate to be treated by another local legend, Dr. Kathy Mahon. This was thru the late 80's and early 90's. About 10 years ago my left eye started to act up and I was advised by another ophthalmologist that I should consider getting a cornea transplant due to scaring. My eye started to look bluish opaque when it's naturally brow in color (think the Terminator eye). I decided to go forward with the transplant--Unfortunately the surgery was unsuccessful because the new cornea didn't take. On top that I ended up with secondary glaucoma. Basically the new cornea couldn't heal properly due to the increased pressure in my eye. To go thru a surgery and ended up being worst off was devastating. I now had to put eye pressure drops in my left eye twice a day -- everyday! And trust me, you never want to be without your drops or say hello to a tension headache from hell. So for the last 10 years, a few thousand dollars spent in prescription refills, AND putting more than 7000 drops in my left eye as the scaring continued. As you can imagine, the idea of going thru another cornea transplant was non-existent at this point. I just look at it like... hey I have one good eye... what's there to complain about -- some people can't see at all. I've had a few doctors over the years suggest that I get the transplant done at Jules Stein, UCLA. The problem is that I live in Las Vegas and the commute would be too difficult for post surgery check ups, let alone if there was a sudden emergency with my eye. To fast forward, earlier this year my mom needed cataract surgery. Considering my past experiences, I decided to look into my moms ophthalmologist. Like any business that needs customers -- doctors need patients and unfortunately for some they see dollar signs. The good News was her ophthalmologist had great reviews, young but promising in his field. I ended up taking my mom to her post op appointment where I had the opportunity to meet her doctors. Intrigued by my noticeable bluish terminator eye, the doctor asked me what happened. After giving him a rough timeline, he asked if he could take a peek. Since he seem genuinely interested and had solid reviews, I ended up switching seats with my mom. After taking a look her doctor told me how lucky I was and that he believed I could have a successful transplant. I expressed my concerns. He agreed that Jules Stein is where I should go. He then said there is one other doctor I should look into who he thinks would be just as good as going to Jules Stein name Dr. Peter Debry. After a couple weeks, my mom called me asking if I've looked into Dr. Debry. Considering I didn't have a whole lot of confidence in getting a another transplant procedure done in Vegas, I put it on the back burner. A week later I ended up with a slight infection in my bad eye. After seeing my regular ophthalmologist, he told me that I am prone for these kind of flare ups and also suggested Dr. Debry. I am thinking wait minute, two different ophthalmologist have now suggested I see Dr. Debry clearly knowing my circumstances. I couldn't help myself but to look into this Dr. Debry. After talking to a couple other doctors and researching him online -- I made the call that would would later free me of putting this critical drops in my eye twice a day. When I first called his practice, I was greeted with sincerity and professionalism. Their system of getting patients in and out is seamless and efficient. I had a good feeling about this place! Then the time comes that I meet Dr. Debry. After talking to him for 5mins I knew he was a very clear thinker! Precise and confident. Based on the info I provided during that initial visit, he concluded that the chances weren't in my favor for a successful cornea transplant. Unfortunately I was mistaken and provided his team with inaccurate information about my past surgery after seeing my original ophthalmologist again. He suggested I go back and see Dr. Debry about getting my pressure controlled. Round 2. I go back and see Dr. Debry and now with accurate info... he later agreed that if we can get the pressure down and controlled by him performing glaucoma surgery, my chances of a successful transplant become real. Dr. Debry performed the first of the two steps 16 weeks ago. Not once in these past 16 weeks have I had to use my eye pressure drops in my left eye. Life changing. Thank you Dr. Debry! Now tomorrow is step 2 of the two steps -- the second attempt at getting a cornea transplant. I am a bit nervous but I know I am in hands of Gods work with Dr. Debry. read more

Dr DeBry I'm sure is a nice person who helps thousands of people. We were referred by our opthomologist for his "speciality" with glucoma. My husband had very glucoma conditions , but could work in his shop and read the headlines of the paper every morning, even the morning of his surgery performed by Dr. Debry. I have waited for several months to write this hoping and praying my husband could see a little, but he has seen only moving b:lobs since the surgery. Note , my husband signed a lot of papers in the office and the surgery center before the surgery, no we did not read them, just signed as I assume most people do. We drove to the surgery center, my husband had the surgery, the doctor never came out to talk to us, which I thought strange, but maybe he had other surgeries. The follow up the day after the surgery, again a long drive, Dr. Debry didn't see us then either which I also thought was strange. Another doctor took off the bandages and told us to follow up with our doctor in our town. He could seen nothing and his eye was "flat", not sure of the medical term so our doctor suggested we go back to Dr Debry and he injected a fluid to increase the eye fluid, we went back home. This is important, they checked his sight, he could not see. I tried several times to call and ask the doctor why he couldn't see, finally, he did return my call one evening. He said your husband had bad eyes, yes we know, the best thing I can tell you to do is go to the Las Vegas center for the blind so he can learn to navigate. Thats all, no caring. I do not believe in sueing as all that does is raise medical insurance that raises medical costs and it would not bring back my husbands sight. I did however want to know what was done so requested the reports from the doctor and the surgery center. In the doctors report, Dr. Debrys, it stated eye sight improved....this is a lie because he hasn't seen since the surgery and sight wasn't checked. This hurt me, the truth would have been better. The surgery center report said they used a doner cornea for repair, he did not have a cornea transplant, and we had no idea a doner of anything was going to be used, probably permission in all of those papers we signed , my husband signed, and we didn't read, who knows. So now, months later, my husband only sees, a "blob", best if I wear orange because the "blob" is brighter, movement. We are adjusting the best we can, our opthomologist here in our town are wonderful, like I said I am sure Dr. Debry has helped so many and probably a very good doctor, but he showed no empathy in my husbands situation and seemed like he just didn't care, so i am sure he and his family are going to have a nice Christmas, we are not, my husband will not be able to see the tree or the dinner, he did see the morning of the surgery, not good, but he could read the headlines and work in his shop. He did a lot of carving and fixing things around the house.
