My family and I had an unbelievable experience at Las Vistas Café. Upon arriving, we were personally invited in by the owner, who was warm, welcoming, and took special care to shake each of our hands and learn our names. She was funny and full of love, and she immediately felt like, and made us feel like, family. She let us know that all food is prepared fresh, to order, and if you're in a rush, it may not be the best place to be. Which was appreciated! The food did indeed come out fresh and it tasted like she went back there and ground the coffee beans, sacrificed the pigs, and picked every fruit from a nearby tree. Like it was THAT fresh. What can I say that hasn't already been said? This rooftop restaurant is a gem located in Fajardo, near the water. The views are gorgeous. But that's just the beginning. I took a chance and went this morning without making a reservation. You should really make a reservation. But I arrived before opening and got lucky. I was greeted by the lovely owner, Gladys. As other people mentioned, she asks your name......and remembers it. I had a fruit salad for starters. Everything is locally grown and delicious. I can tell that Gladys takes pride in her ingredients in the way that she describes the menu items. I enjoyed the fruit salad, as well as the homemade sauce that accompanied it. For my main meal, I had the Coco Banana Pancakes and Sausages. Oh.....my....God. It did not disappoint. The exterior is slightly crispy and the interior is nice and fluffy. With or without syrup, it's delicious. I stuffed myself silly. Gladys told me that it would be a little wait as everything was made to order. It was worth the wait. The food is delicious, the rooftop views are gorgeous, and the service is impeccable. I already made reservations to come back next week. As I was leaving, I saw people beginning to come in. Las Vistas Cafe You must try this place for breakfast and brunch (they are only open certain days and only until early afternoon - so I strongly recommend you call ahead). The people, the views, the service and the food are amazing! Gladys the owner will welcome you at the top of the steps of this roof top terrace with amazing 360 views where the Atlantic meets and Caribbean Ocean overlooking Las Croabas (neighborhood Fajardo by the bioluminescent bay) with a view of El Conquistador on the cliff behind. Gladys will let you know everything is made to order and takes time to set your expectations. We arrived at 10am without a reservation (beginning of February so off season) and there were 3 other tables seated and food took only 25 minutes from time of order - and we enjoyed a shared huge fruit plate appetizer (local mango, papaya, strawberries, kiwi, pineapple topped with fresh coconut and almonds) w coffee and juice (and an amazing homemade honey ginger sauce) while we waited for our entrees and enjoyed the views. The staff are all super friendly. All their rooftop tables have umbrellas so they are shaded with a gorgeous breeze and terrific Spanish music with classic guitar and tranquil tunes played on a good speaker system to set the mood. My husband had the special - shrimp arepas with a chimichurri sauce and I had the coconut banana pancakes (fluffiest pancakes ever - light cakes style and super flavorful) w homemade mango jam and syrup and easy over eggs done perfectly - all terrific! I can't wait to go back to try the salmon benedict and the pumpkin pancakes! I get the impression a reservation or call ahead is much appreciated. Gladys is there to make you happy - she will remember your name, check on you throughout your meal and make sure you had an exceptional experience without rushing you. To begin with they serve a fresh fruit platter. Fruits from the island and some grown in the owners garden. It came with a honey cinnamon sauce that was phenomenal. THE BEST breakfast I had during my one week stay in PR. The ambiance and location are so fun. Right near the water, with a little pirate ship playground nearby, chickens roaming near, and great amount of parking. The staff were so amazing, very kind and made wonderful recommendations. I had the frozen coconut mocha and it was my favorite coffee while I was there. My husband also had a kiwi lemonade. It was HUGE and so good.
