We wanted a simple breakfast near Buckingham Fountain in Centennial Park, and several nearby hotels were pretty expensive. We tried the Lasalle Luna Cafe, on Harrison west of Michigan, next to the Travelodge. The prices looked ok, so we ordered coffee. The waitstaff kept our cups full and hot, and the coffee was flavorful, from a supplier they've used for 20-years or so! We got a huge tasty chorizo, egg, and cheese croissant with crispy tender hash brown potatoes. We didnt want a large tomato, onion, green pepper, mushroom, American-cheese omelet, and the waiter confirmed that the smaller sandwich had the same veggies on it with our choice of whole wheat toast for $5 less! We were served quickly, and had time to relax before meeting friends in the park. You pay at the register in the back, next to the soda fridge, and we grabbed some m&m's for a later treat for the kids. Clean restrooms are past the soda fridge. This whole experience was exactly what we needed. Quick friendly service, good regular food, excellent coffee, low prices, and less than a block to Centennial Park. Perfect! read more

Was looking for a breakfast place close to my hotel and Yelp never steers me wrong. Lasalle Cafe Luna was just a block away and I was able to be seated right away. The waiter was very friendly and kept the coffee coming. I ordered the 2 eggs scrambled with chicken sausage and hash browns and toast. The sausage was not so great, but the eggs and hash browns were pretty tasty. If you're looking for a diner style breakfast joint this is your place. Went here for breakfast with my husband on an early Saturday morning. It was actually pretty busy in there. We were seated immediately and the waitress came over and took our order. Food came out pretty quickly. I got the ham, egg, and cheese on toast. Mind you, this is a small sandwich with diced ham, not sliced ham. Nevertheless, it was pretty good with that melted cheese. My husband ordered the waffle with eggs and turkey sausage. He said it was tasty. This place isn't overly special, but it was reasonable and not too bad. They don't tell you this when they seat you or take your order, but they don't bring you a check at the end. You only see your waitress like once, which is sorta a downfall to this place. When you're done with your food, you tell them your number at the counter and then you pay and leave. Guess that's pretty easy peasy. read more

We were greeted promptly, and seated just as fast. I went with a two egg bfast, with hash browns, sausage links (4), and a side of bacon (don't judge ), with toast. Kid had a club sandwich with fries. Everything was decent, nothing to rave about, definitely nothing to complain about. It was a nice calm atmosphere, so it was easy to chat without yelling. Similar to what most people have said--cute little diner vibe, but nothing to write home about. The servers were nice and were quick with our food and drinks, but the food itself was average. I know another review complained about the pancakes clearly being made from a mix--I don't think that's really something to be shocked about at a diner, but whatever. The lemonade was in fact served in a Minute Maid can... but it wasn't an issue with me personally. The chef is the owner and the servers are familly members starting with the brother. We stayed at the hotel so consequently we ate here at least 3 of the 7 days we stayed and the service was outstanding. Always nice and welcoming while they also make sure you have everything you want like the endless refills of coffee. Tables are cleaned immediately as soon as the clients leave. Also tables are fully packed with enough butter, jams, sugar , coffee mate etc etc etc. Food quality is also to the point. Remember the owner is the one cooking so he makes sure food is the way is supposed to be. Price is also very much in accordance and fair for the type of establishment. In overall, I recommend them ! What a sweet little place in the heart of the city! The cafe is walkable from the Blackstone Hotel - was only about three minutes away. Was easy to find and just off the main street. Next to Columbia College. It was not busy at all when we came and we were seated right away. It was a cold and sunny Saturday afternoon. Bright and airy inside. Two menus - one breakfast and one lunch. Lots of good options. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. 10% student and faculty discount which I thought was a nice gesture. Minimum $8.00 purchase for cards. I went with the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant and well done hash browns. Sounds simple enough but I was really happy with the whole dish. Egg was creamy, bacon was crisp, cheese was gooey, and the croissant held everything in its place. The hash browns were made just the way I like them. Price wise was a good deal as well! This looks like the typical food place from the outside, but their food is very good. The staff is very nice and accommodating with our request and everything was quickly served. The hot chocolate was great and we asked for an espresso and added to it! The skillet was really tasty with the right balance of ingredients, as well as the omelette. The chef skillet didn't have the toppings in the omelette but rather on the hash which wasn't great. I had the fruit bowl and they were fresh! I will say it seemed a little pricey but it's also close to the tourist locations so that might be it. Other than that it's you favorite local breakfast spot! The restrooms are one stall and we're very clean. They also seemed to be keeping up with higiene and cleaning the tables. read more
