    Egg combo
    Lindsey M.

This place was absolutely delicious! We didn't know anything about it, just popped in for some breakfast. We ordered the apple oat crumble French toast from the winter seasonal menu and the two egg combo. We also ordered the horchata cold brew. It was perfectly flavored and not too sweet. The food came out pretty fast considering it was a bit busy. The vibe was nice. It was like a diner feel. When we walked in we were greeted by at least 3 different servers! Although it was a big restaurant, the friendliness of the servers made it feel more like a small, homey restaurant. There was a variety of table sizes, so it could accommodate small or large parties.

My daughter and I came here while visiting Chicago and glad we found this place. It was busy, but we were seated right away outside in the shade and around greenery which was very pretty and also quiet. The gluten-free bread was toasted and very tasty with the avocado and egg sandwich I ordered. Overall, a very good experience. Server was attentive. Restaurant was clean.

Always good fast and friendly service at this location. Been here a bunch of times. And will continue to come back. Good food priced fairly.

Very busy on a Sunday. No outside drinks allowed. Ambience was nice. Our server Erin was very sweet. We ordered the chilaquiles and a breakfast sandwich with cheesy grits. Everything was tasteful but very large order

Great breakfast after a chilly walk to this location. Seated right away. I had pancakes with strawberries and my wife had a combo plate with eggs, waffles, bacon, and hash browns.(I should have taken a picture) The pancakes were just okay. Three large cakes with berries in and on top. Just not a lot of flavor. My wife's breakfast was almost too pretty to eat. But she did. Eggs cooked just right, very tasty bacon, fluffy waffles, and crisp taters. Service was pleasant and efficient. Restaurant was clean. We were there early so no noise or Sunday morning chaos. I know there are other Yolk locations but this one is a go to place in my book.

Nice little joint in the downtown. We walked in and was quickly greeted and seated. The space is really open and bright and we were fortunate to be seated next to the window to people watch. Onto the food: 1) kids s'mores pancake - this was bigger than I expected and they did not go lightly on the toppings. Needless to say, this was very much kid approved! 2) smoked salmon eggs Benedict. This was ok. I like all of the ingredients, but would have preferred my smoke salmon in slices not diced up (first time ever having it diced up). They sautéed the onions, but some were still raw-ish. Not a bad dish, but not the best. 3) Horchata cold brew - this was so good and refreshing and bonus for being made with oat milk! Overall, I would not hesitate to come back to this spot or any of their other locations.

    Flushing clearly an issue.

Why can't Yolk management get the bathrooms in working order?? We normally eat at the West Loop location in the Ogilvie train station where one of the two bathrooms has been out of commission for months. Today we ate at the Streeterville location where the bathrooms are no better. Come on management, how long does it take to get the facilities in order?

Scrumptious. Not typical to say about diner food, but this place is a step above. The lady serving was very helpful with the menu. The egg scrambler was thick / meaty / cheesy but also had great flavor (just enough salt and spice). The pancakes were fluffy and toppings were delicious. What I liked too about this place (at least the shift I saw) was the employees being friendly / joking with each other and seeming to have a good time yet still get their work done. (Minor ding - the cup for water I was given had a smudge of peanut butter or something on the inside, but the lady replaced it immediately). Yolk is a great place and I'd do breakfast / brunch again here again.

Stopped for breakfast on a Friday morning. No wait and sat at the bar. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. My husband ordered the corned beef and it was a huge portion plus the pancakes! I got a side of hashed browns w a side is sausage gravy. Was delicious!

Yolk in the Streeterville area of downtown Chicago sits at the corner of McClurg and Grand, and is a tasty spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The space isn't the largest, but it is bright, well equipped and easy to navigate. Service was stellar from entry to exit with our server being absolutely delightful. The dining room appeared clean, but the space in full from the floor to the ceilings and seating need some TLC, as conditionally its seen better days. Foodwise, we opted for waters, even though they had a good variety of breakfast and coffee drinks. We went with the create your own scramble along with pancakes and sausage links. The food was good, nothing phenomenal, but it hit the spot and came out fairly quickly. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Yolk and will certainly be back!

Inside the Avalon Sunset - grilled chicken breast, bacon, tomato, Swiss, smashed avocado on grilled sourdough for $20. It was decent.

I'm originally from Chicago and when I'm in town visiting family, this is a place that we like to visit. I've been to both this location and the one in the South Loop. I like this location because they have outdoor seating. Unfortunately for this visit, it was January 2025 and way too cold to sit outside. It was New Year's Day and it was packed. Fortunately, we got on their electronic waitlist as soon as we got in the car on our way to the restaurant (20 minute drive) so our wait wasn't that great once we got there. They sat us at a table in this really overcrowded area which made our dining and those around us, not comfortable (there were 4 of us). I ordered the "Avalon Sunset" handheld (pics attached). This sandwich included a grilled chicken breast, bacon, tomato, Swiss and smashed avocado on grilled sourdough bread for $20. Nothing stellar, but I liked it. The service is what you'd expect in an overly crowded restaurant - mediocre. All in all, this can be a good experience if you come during the warmer months and sit outside. BTW, the outdoor seating is covered. Also, don't forget to join the electronic waitlist.

Yolk All-Star Combo with egg whites and Lemon Blueberry Cakes

I arrived around 12:05pm on a Tuesday afternoon (NYE) to get food with my son. I joined the YELP waitlist around 7-8 minutes before arriving during my 12 minute walk here from my hotel. It was perfect timing as less than a minute after we arrived, they were calling my name to be seated. Shortly after being seated, a staff member brought over glasses and a pitcher of water. It was VERY busy! About a minute later, our waiter came over. He didn't say his name, which is a personal pet peeve. Per receipt, his name was Martin. I would've liked more hospitality as far as asking if we've been there before and giving some highlights. Conversation and information was minimal, unless asked directly. We placed our order at 12:17pm. I got the Yolk all star combo with lemon blueberry pancakes ($3 up-charge) and egg whites. I wanted to substitute one of my meats for potatoes but was told substitutions weren't allowed. My son got the kids Oreo pancakes and apple juice. The kids specialty pancakes doesn't come with sides. The food came at 12:34pm. My son's pancakes and my pancakes were huge! One piece of my bacon was crisper than the other, which I didn't like. I prefer crispy bacon and thought it was odd that the consistency didn't match. The sausages were thick and tasty. The eggs whites tasty normal but needed salt and pepper, which I added myself. I highly enjoyed my pancakes and my son really enjoyed his as well. Overall, it was a good experience and I definitely would return. I recommend joining the waitlist because the waiting area is small causing a little chaos especially when tables are ready. There is a bus stop right outside, if taking public transportation.

Hello there! With expanded outdoor seating, do you allow dogs on your patio?

Good morning. Yes we do. :)

Can I bring champagne into restaurant?

Hi there. Yes you can... we are BYOB.

Does this place have bottomless mimosas?

Hi Britni... we are a BYOB restaurant. If you bring in some champagne we have fresh OJ or Strawberry OJ (made in house). We also have our own Bloody Mary Mix if you want to bring some vodka. :)

Do people like the new potatoes? I find them bland and without color - not comparable at all to the old ones which were crisp, had color and, by the way, are also misleadingly featured in all the company's pictures

I'm in complete agreement - I'm now asking for them "well-done".

Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha!
