    Banana cream Matcha
    Camille M.

The spot is nice and walkable if you are staying in the downtown Chicago area. We were recommended to check out this spot noting at the Banana Cream Matcha was a must try. Unfortunately, it was not that great. I like my matcha to taste like matcha and the flavor palette that's promoted on the menu -- it was very milky and the banana flavor was very faint, in my opinion.

Okay I've tried all the croissants here now (big back status) and obsessed is an understatement. You seriously cannot go wrong with anything you get here. The butter chicken croissant is stuffed with a good amount of chicken and the sauce is flavorful & abundant without being too much as to make the croissant soggy. The samosa chaat croissant is heavenly. The spices are spot on!! There's some kinda green (I believe mint) chutney + a brown sweetish chutney that add a lovely flavor on top of the spices. This croissant is actually kinda spicy but delightfully so. The banoffee croissant? Give me 10 of em. I suppose out of all the croissants I've tried though, the banoffee is the least creative, but man on man was it delectable still. This thing is bursting with filling. Every single croissant I got was baked to perfection as well. Just look at the pics and see for yourself! My order was still warm even when delivered too!! I can't say enough good things about this place.

Both the coffee and the croissant were a 10/10! I've been wanting to try this cafe for a while so it was nice to finally get to go. The service is quick and I loved the interior and overall ambiance. I definitely recommend for a quick coffee stop/Café vibe

I was looking for a place to grab a quick snack & sit with my baby then came across Swadesi. When I walked in, I did not anticipate how cutesy and decorative it was going to be on the inside. The menu is perfectly crafted and made me want to try more than what I came for. With that said, I got the Banana Cream Latte, Butter Chicken Croissant, & Gulab Jamun Cheesecake Croissant. My latte was okay and to be fair they were busy at the time. However, my pastry, and "something savory" (per their menu) were incredibly tasty. The care for presentation also elevated my excitement to eat. I will certainly be back to try another latte. The only downside was that they close at 3pm. Wish more cafes chose to stay open for a full working day schedule. Overall: 8.5/10

Chai, Gulab Jamun Croissant, Salted Jaggery Caramel Latte

This indian cafe has no misses so far. Went with a friend and ordered the Salted caramel Jaggery latte with almond milk. She ordered the chai, and we split the Gulab Jamun cheesecake croissant as well as the breakfast sandwich. The workers were friendly and the space was busy, full of groups chatting or working. We both enjoyed our drinks. I'd say that my latte had a unique flavor that I hadn't tried before that complemented the flavor of the coffee, which is what I like about trying new coffee shops. I was very satisfied with my drink. The pastries/sandwich were also great. Even though I'm not usually a fan of cream/cheesy textures and flavors, the gulab jamun croissant was still very enjoyable. At the bottom of the torched cheesecake mixture, I was surprised to find an actual gulab jamun on the bottom. It was really unique. The sandwich had some spiced mayo, spiced potato (reminded me of potato samosa) and an egg patty. Overall, I'd definitely come again to try more.

I love this place. Banana cream matcha and malai cream croissant was CHEFS KISS. Staff was friendly, vibe was soothing and peaceful and I enjoy the aesthetic. Will be coming back here: thank you Swadesi.

Always a little line for my fav bakery in the city. I love that it is filled with such friendly people and good food. I always get the Gulab Jaman and it's so yummy. Great coffee too.

This Indian cafe is BUSSINNN. The space is super spacious and a great WFH spot during the week, though it does get loud and they don't allow laptops on weekends. The banoffee croissant (9.8/10) might actually be one of my top 5 pastries/desserts ever. The croissant is flaky like puff pastry without being overly buttery, and the banana, cream, and caramel/toffee combo was PERFECT without being too sweet. Absolutely devoured it. The strawberry shortcake matcha (9.5/10) was amazing too. The matcha stayed earthy even with all the other flavors, which I loved. Strawberry syrup was great, and the foam tasted like corn in the best way possible everything together was heavenly. The salted jaggery caramel latte (8.5/10) had an incredible first sip because of the foam, but once the foam disappeared it started tasting more like a carrot latte to me. Espresso strength was perfect though. Service was fine, you order and pick it up when it's ready.

    Rose and Cardamom Latte

Went here a while back, but I enjoyed my experience! Heard they have new matcha drinks on the menu, so I'll have to check that out next time I'm in Chicago. The rose and cardamom latte was better than I expected. I definitely finished my drink faster than I expected. The cafe also had plenty of indoor seating and was very clean. The service was pretty quick and the staff members were friendly. I recommend folks to swing by next time they're in Chicago!

The pastries here are the star! You cannot go wrong with anything I have literally only gone when they have only one or two pastry options left. I get whatever is available. And every, single time it's been AMAZING! I love the South Asian flavors of malai and mango and rose. However, I don't love the drinks here. They're a bit too sweet and I don't particularly like condensed milk in my chai. Caveat, I also make a damn good chai at home so I have high standards.

This café had a wonderful aroma of freshly brewed coffee the moment I walked in. There was plenty of seating available, although most of the tables were occupied, which speaks to its popularity. Despite being busy, the service was friendly, efficient, and welcoming. The coffee was well-made and flavorful, and the pastries tasted fresh and paired nicely with the drinks. Overall, it's a great spot to enjoy a quality coffee break, whether you're meeting friends or just looking for a comfortable place to relax. I'd happily return.

Great customer service. The barista seemed to love what they do. The strawberry matcha was one of the best I had to date. Loved the cold foam. Great location lots of street parking. Very cute shop.

The aïoli was so delicious. I kept it for the rest of my meal as it being sauce. 4/5 American breakfast with egg whites. Egg whites were slightly runny, but good portion. The bacon was crispy and slightly sweet. Super yummy. Crispy potatoes were like a deep fried large country potato. Good with the aïoli, but I didn't eat too much. 4/5 petite potato, American style. I understand tipping culture is a divided topic of discussion, but at the end of the day, it is OPTIONAL. After pressing the skip button from what I believe to be non-tip worthy service, he threw a fit and said "Wow you're serious? After I did all that?" Meanwhile all he did was write names on cups. Now I would understand if he was the barista working hard to pump out the coffees, but two lovely ladies were in the back doing that. He shooed me and my friend out of line as we were still processing what he just said. The next customer orders and he had the audacity to talk about us to them while we're 5 feet away. Delusional as he was, he had the nerve to say we were holding up the line and made him do "all that work", and I could promise you, we knew exactly what we wanted to order the second we got up, and took no longer than 45 seconds. We also witnessed he got into it with another customer, so it seems like he's the problem here. Most wild service I have ever received, all for some milky coffees. I ended up tipping the lovely ladies in the back though. Be warned. There are much better spots.
