LaScala's Fire in Atlantic City delivers top notch food in a great location inside Ocean Casino. The seafood fra diavolo is my go to and never disappoints. They recently added sushi to the menu and it is pretty solid. The California roll stands out because they use real crab meat instead of imitation, which is a nice touch. The fried calamari is always on point too. That said, the sashimi experience was a bit off. The smoked salmon that came with it was overly smoked and tasted more like something you would put on a bagel rather than eat as sashimi. Service was the only real downside. Our waiter repeatedly mentioned leaving a tip and that cash was preferred. After the third time, it started to feel awkward, especially since we were still in the middle of our meal. Not sure what the situation was, but it definitely took away from the overall experience. read more

This is a hip restaurant that is overflowing with excitement and energy. The place was packed! Our server was excellent. He was friendly, funny, and attentive to our table. The appetizers were fantastic. The calamari was crisp and a bit spicy. Not chewy. The Brussel sprouts--I could've eaten them all night. Salty, sweet, with that perfect sprout crunchiness. And you can never go wrong with bacon. And, of course, you can't go to LaScala without ordering the Ricotta Board! Just dip those strips of crunchy-chewy piadina bread into the sweet ricotta laced with honey. So good!! I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken piccata. Tender cutlets of chicken smothered w a light, lemony sauce, with capers adding a bit of brine and tang. I didn't have room for dessert, but others at my table did order. Each were combinations of warm, chocolatey, brownies, marshmallows, ice cream, all drizzled with more chocolatey goodness. Others reported their entrees were amazing as well (eg. Rigatoni Vodka, Alicia's Sunday Dinner.) If it seems like I'm playing it up, it's because the food is that good. But, going to La Scala is always more than that. It's an experience. read more

First of all the restaurant itself is beautiful. The service was wonderful. I just had an issue with a dessert that we ordered. For $14, I would expect to be able to enjoy something. We ordered the Nutella cheesecake. The cheesecake itself was good, but the bottom of it was so hard you'd break a tooth eating it. The waiter was nice about it, but nobody offered to get us something else. He said he thinks there was too much starch added to it‍ I really was disappointed with that. Ricotta board was good...in my opinion the best item we ordered...followed by the calamari (some parts were salty but overall good) Short rib pizza was just okay. Baked lasagna was made well but a tad salty for me. Meatball parmigiano panini was bland so it was a bit disappointing. Fries were okay. Eggplant parmigiano pasta was cooked just right. Angel hair pasta with crab was good as well. Tasted well made. The lemon crab and shrimp over linguine was overpowered by the lemon juice...Made the whole dish a bit off-putting. LaScala's Fire is a great addition to Oceans array of fine dining restaurants as it delivers a vibrant take on Italian/American cuisine in a sleek, black and white setting. Located at the food district where Serendipity use to make their home. The food shines with homestyle authenticity, but service inconsistencies slightly mar the experience. We had the following: Fried calamari, chicken Parmigiano, chicken marsala, chicken san remo, spaghetti with white clam sauce, mussels in red clam sauce, Italian sausage bolognese and cheese pizza. The Proteins are perfectly seasoned, especially the crispy chicken cutlets smothered with sweet tomato sauce. The preparations are fresh, and pastas retain ideal al dente texture, no overcooked pasta here. Our server was Awesome, but some of the food runners were robotic, delivering dishes and showing zero engagement, no smiles or eye contact. While efficient, the lack of warmth felt transactional, especially compared to the otherwise attentive waitstaff. The dishes arrive as they're ready, a policy our server explained to us, so tables may receive courses at different times. Fortunately, all our food came out pretty quick. Now you have a choice between LaScala and Oceans other Italian restaurant, Linguini by the sea. Both offer delicious Italian fare. Try them both, you won't be disappointed. read more

I was eager to try this new offering at Ocean and was somewhat disappointed. We were seated in the back past the bar and found the music to be extremely loud. For what appears to be a more upscale casual I expected the music to be a bit subdued. But it was electronic dance music at a very high volume. I could not hear the wait staff when greeting us and answering questions. We made a point of paying attention as we left to see if it was just because we were in the back, but it was the same volume in the front as well. That being said I found my salad to be delicious! We had a reservation for dinner here as part of our engagement celebration. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and were greeted nicely by our server Bryan who let us know of a couple menu items that weren't available. I ordered the lemon crab & shrimp linguine. My husband and I are regulars at LaScala's in Marlton. So, when in AC, I we had to try the new LaScala's in the Ocean Casino. We were not disappointed! We were warmly greeted by Betty a hostess we had known from other shore establishments. She informed us that the bar hadn't opened yet due to liquor license just getting approved but assured us the food and service would be wonderful. We were seated at a cozy booth. Our waiter Rob who is actually a server from Marlton gave us fantastic service. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and the restaurant's growth. By the way the place is big and beautiful! We ordered the shrimp appetizer and it was yummy! Our entree was the chicken panini which was huge, loaded with tomatoes, peppers and greens. The fries were to die for hot and plentiful. We had the pleasure of dining at LaSCALA'S FIRE for a late lunch today, and our experience was great. The hosts were friendly and informative. The restaurant offered a range of mouth-watering dishes, our waiter, (had an Italian name that I couldn't pronounce & now forget) provided top-notch service. Six hungry but indecisive guests can be tricky, and we were!! Lascala's décor is both beautiful and classic. Seeing huge black & white photo's of movie stars of days long gone was wonderful. The prices were very reasonable, considering the foods quality and immense portions. We all left very satisfied and I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. From the Chianti to the Old Fashioned's, the pizza's, hot chicken sandwich to the Frutti de Mare, the lemon cello & the chocolate cake. We loved it all. Left with boxes upon boxes to take home! First off, I don't understand why LaScala's Fire AC doesn't have it's own Google Business Page like all of the other LaScala Restaurants do. That gives me the impression that the owners are not as invested in their location inside Ocean Resort and Casino as they are in their other outposts. When we visited LaScala's had just opened so they did not have a license to serve alcohol yet, so their beautiful bar was just there to look pretty and not be touched. Service was very nice. Our waiter knew how to put on the Italian charm and he was kind and helpful. We tried the crispy artichoke appetizer. This was our favorite dish. It was hot, flavorful and fun to share. I definitely recommend. We also shared the Fire's Favorite panini. This was a hunk of sandwich. It was stacked. I enjoyed it, but the prosciutto was a little too rare for my liking. And we shared the Chicken Picatta. It could have been hotter. We were advised that it was big enough for two, but honestly it could work as an entree for one. Since, we also had the panini, everything worked out. Flavors were on point. The atmosphere was fun and exciting, especially because it was brand new. But the casino restaurant scene in Atlantic City is competitive, so you really have to impress your guests to make a lasting stand. read more

A great addition to Ocean Casino LaScala's fire!! We visited AC this weekend and stayed at the Ocean Casino for our family dinner. We decided to try the newly open restaurant and we're so glad we did. We had a 5 PM reservation and we were warmly welcome by the staff upon arrival we received it right away and the service throughout the evening was excellent. Our server was friendly attentive and make sure we had everything we needed. We ordered four different dishes and every single one was delicious. Portions were generous and flavors were outstanding everyone was completely satisfied with their meals. The food came out quickly, so there was no wait which is always appreciated when dining with family. It was very happy with our choice and would highly recommend checking out this spot. Probably the worst meal ive ever had in oceans. Tried a bunch. Calamari was so bland and gritty from poor use of rice flower. Side of dipping sauce was water. Wings only edible thing we ate. We sat at the bar because there was a 30 minute wait to seat at a table even though 50%of the tables were empty. We ordered a clam pasta and a crab pasta. Both were extremely bland. We had to ask for salt and pepper. Each one was $30. Certainly not worth the price. The bartender was nice when you finally got his attention. I asked for two club sodas so I can mix the martini in to water it down. Tell me how on the bill we were charged $12 for club soda!!!! Huh? We have tried to give Lascala's Fire multiple chances to win us over. We even lowered our expectations on our first experience due to them being new. Newness isn't the problem. Service is awful (bartender included) unless you are blessed to have Bardi as your server. He is absolutely amazing and the only reason we gave this restaurant another chance. The meatballs are decent, the pizza fantastic, and the soup was okay when the chef shows up to make it. Twice they didn't have soup because "the chef didn't show up to make it". Our final time in, we were just going to grab a pizza to go. We walked in a little before 10:30 and were refused service due to "the kitchen is already closed". Made reservation two weeks in advance - hostess set us in front of a loud kitchen. Waitress was nice but when I was served my entree my wife entree came 10 minutes later - so mine was cold - server saw I was angry and spoke to Manager but he never came over to speak to me. Ambiance is very loud and music DJ was playing for a young crowd. The Server apologized but it was over. I paid the bill and as I was walking out I saw the Manager so I had to speak to him. He knew exactly what my issue was and he said the Server should have told me before that food came that the kitchen puts out the food without any concern about time and people eating together. I asked him why he did not come over to speak to me after he knew my issue - he was speechless - but then he tried to buy me patronage by attempting to give me a free dinner the next time I came there. I've never eaten at a restaurant in a casino before so maybe that's the way it is. We made reservations but I don't think they were needed. We were seated on time and the waiter showed up promptly. They introduced a new sushi menu which I didn't quite understand how it fit with the other food. By the restaurants name I assumed it was Italian food, so I decided to go with the eggplant parmigiana. My wife got the Italian wedding soup and shrimp and crab linguine. We also ordered 2 cocktails. A Peroni and dirty martini. While waiting for our food we saw bread being served at other tables but we never got any. The Italian wedding soup arrived and was hot but average. Our main dishes arrived probably in 20 mins. The sauce on my meal reminded me of Ragu. It didn't have much of a flavor. The eggplant was decent but for almost $30 could have tasted better. My wife meal was bland and average but it was hot. For the 2 of us with the food we ordered our bill was near $100. The service was fast and friendly but other than that, we won't be returning. read more

My partner ordered chicken parm sandwich and I had the Italian chicken sandwich that was a breaded chicken breast with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone. Sandwiches were huge and came with a generous side of French fries. Both sandwiches were disappointing when it came to taste. Very bland and I couldn't even taste the sharp provolone. We both had Diet Pepsi and the bill came out to $59. Service was really good but that being said the place was pretty empty for a Friday at 4pm so I'm not sure what service is like when it's busy. We wanted to try out this new place and maybe I would come back to try a pizza. Other than that I will probably go to my usual Zen Bang which is really fantastic.
