I was really excited to eat here as I haven't since I was younger. The person who answered the phone does not know customer service whatsoever. Very unaccommodating. Delivery took an hour and a half, and the driver showed up talking on his cell phone and didn't say one word as he handed the food over. Overall, received extremely poor customer service from this establishment- which was disappointing. As far as the food itself, I ordered the chicken caprese sandwich with pasta salad. However, the order clearly got messed up because it showed up with french fries instead of the pasta salad. I will give this business a 2 because the chicken caprese sandwich was decent. From other reviews, it seems that maybe dine-in is the way to go with this establishment. I wouldn't order delivery again, but maybe I would attempt dine-in. read more

Came here after coming past here numerous times on the way to Atlantic City on Rt.40. The parking lot was always full, an indicator to me that good food could be behind those doors. Parking is provided on the lot adjacent to the restaurant. We decided to go for lunch. Upon entering, there were two areas; one was a typical dining room and the other was the bar area with booths and counter seating. Towards the rear was the pickup/carry out counter. We were seated in the bar area and a pleasant young lady took our order, which was chicken cheesesteaks and onion rings. The subs were good with plenty of meat and cheese and the tools were fresh. The onion rings arrived hot, crispy and not oily. They have an extensive menu with traditional Italian items in addition to American and seafood selections. They also host a happy hour with great food and drink specials. All in all, I'm glad we stopped by and will be doing so again on a future trip to A.C.! read more

I have spent $35 on an entree before at supposed finer restaurants and they had no real flavor. I did tonight. I went ghe Flounder stuffed with lump crab meat and a filet medium rare, with mushrooms, on some sautéed spinach. Heck, I just made myself hungry again typing about! No way I can eat anymore tonight. First they give you breads, 4 different ones. Never had Nonna's bread before, but then again my grandmother wasn't Italian nor could she bake bread. You will like at least 1 of the 4. Try them all. My companion, he went for chicken parmesan. He was very happy. Caesar's salad was good. A light oil, not heavy dressing. Enough of that. Now one last word. I have had many bad experiences with them, the final draw was my last order of over $100. The food was over two hours in transit so I called and canceled. Stopped in for dome pizza. We got a grandma slice, Sicilian slice and a small regular hand tossed pizza. The Sicilian was really good, the grandma was more like a flat bread and thr regular pizza was decent but the sauce tasted like it was "spaghetti-o" can sauce. One of my favorite restaurants has changed. The food and drink over priced, food is a fail for me. My meat lasagna was not fresh, it had some cold frozen pieces In it, the pasta sheets were stuck together and hard. But the waitress told me it was just made fresh!!!! I will never go back. My first revisit since Feb. 2016 and the only words that describe my experience are ordinary and not very flavorful. The dining experience that my four dining partners and myself had were loaded with culinary missteps. Appetizers of calamari and buffalo chicken wings could only be described as ordinary. The calamari had no real discernible flavor, but the marinara sauce that accompanied them was exception. The wings were fried, not as normal buffalo wings are prepared, blue cheese dressing was not served with the wings and had to to be requested. Our server, Heather was the only shining star of of our dining experience. The general consensus on soups served with the entrees were good. The chef either had a very bad night, or was absent this evening. I have ordered the 12 oz. cut of prime rib on four other occasions and it had been very good, but ordered medium well it came out grey and tasteless. Sent back, another came out not as grey but still lacking flavor, I was disappointed. The meat was a thinner cut on my previous visits but I think the quality of the meat was far superior. Two pasta dishes came out cold and had to be returned. One entree, veal parmesan, was to spicy for one of my dining partners, and was returned for a different, milder sauce. The veal parm came out more to my dining partner's taste but midway through it was discovered that it was chicken!!! Again, our server was the star of our time spent at Jo Jo's, she could not have been more accommodating and professional. Heather did what she could to make the best out of a bad experience. Unfortunately for JoJo's due to the multiple flaws that we encountered, for me it is the swan song for this restaurant, and I will not be returning. read more

We got the meatball appetizer which was actually amazing it had roasted pepper and garlic on it, so good. Literally just called there to try to find out pricing for half and full pans for Christmas Eve and christmas night dinners. I'm 42, my grandmother used to bring me here when I was little. I'd stand at a counter that was taller than me and I'd order the most delicious pizza. I live in another state now and every time I visit home I stop in. The place is beautiful. I'm glad I got to see the upgrades over the years. The service is excellent. After being served a sub on a dirty plate and given 3 different glasses to drink water from because the first one had dirt in it and the second on had hair in it I decided to give them one last try tonight. I'm heading out on a 13 hour drive home. They forgot 2 parts of my order and the Stromboli has so much cheese in it it's impossible to eat. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu, offering lots of options and making great suggestions. We shared the mussels marinara appetizer to start. Every mussel was huge and succulent. Not chewy at all. The sauce was so good, we sent the bowl back wiped clean by soft Italian bread. Then we split a pizza cheesesteak with roasted long hots and sautéed mushrooms. The long hots were served on the side, in a bowl with slices of roasted garlic and the savory oil they were roasted in. We dipped our sandwiches in that bowl, absorbing every essence. I had the opportunity to eat at Jo Jos this past evening. It was a disappointment. My last visit there was quite pleasant. The Pomodoro Chicken salad dish was fabulous and last night's was no exception either but it really seems they reduced the portion size considerably. For 20 bucks excluding a tip, the salad was way overpriced and skimpy. I went out of my way from the Shore to visit this venerable establishment. I am bummed. Their homemade Balsamic Salad and fresh ingredients are worthy to rave about, but at these prices and so skimpy I ll likely go to the grocery store and get my own salad fixings. read more

OK First of all this IS NOT a pizza joint. This is one of the finest mid-priced casual restaurants I have ever been to. The food here is fantastic. I have been here too many times to remember. Yes they have pizza. Some of the best wood fired thin crust you will ever have. I've been to Grimaldi's in Brooklyn, which was very good, but Jo Jo's is as as good and even better when you order a specialty pizza without the tourist atmosphere. The diners are fantastic and that just does not come from me. I get raves when I recommend to friends. Just today a friend said he had the Salmon with Crab and he thanked me for recommending. Any special that Joe has on the menu will be fantastic. Anything with a red sauce or with his brown gravy (actually demi glace) is wonderful. I always walk away asking how they can make it better every time I'm there. This is not a place to order the standard. Try something different and you will not be disappointed. The lamb chop appetizer is constantly excellent. For that matter any specialty appetizer has consistently been exceptional. Polenta, garlic mashed, lamb chops, any antipasto, clam chowder, specialty thin crust pizza, any seafood dish (especially salmon), calamari Siciliano, any chicken beef or veal dish. And if they happen to have vegetarian meatballs, not normally on the menu. read more

I was So Disappointed with the Food! My Boyfriend & I ordered Two Side Vegetables. Each of them were $5.50. About half of an ounce for the Spinach. Maybe a bit more for the Sautéed Veggies. The Appetizer "Arrancini" was supposed to be Fried Rice Balls Filled with Fontina Cheese, Roasted Peppers, Ground Beef & Peas. Topped with Ricotta Cheese & Roasted Peppers. We got 6 Little round fried balls. Oops 7. 3 with cheese, 3 with (all totaled) a Smidgin of beef--all in 1 of the 3!! The other were Empty of filling! A Pea was Not to be found!! That was Another $12 wasted! And then $15 WASTED ON The Antonina Pizza!!! The SADDEST THING IS WE DROVE FROM PHILADELPHIA!!! Oh and the ANTIPASTO------ A Cruel Joke!!! Some Rough cut Leftover raw Vegetables with canned pre-sliced black olives served on a small plate with a Ton of Nasty "creamy Italian dressing"!!! And our server had to go to another area to use a computer to enter our orders. The entire section had to wait!!! She was nice, but so busy, we weren't even asked if we wanted coffee or dessert! I have been going to Jo Jo's since I was a little boy and before they renovated. My dad would take me and I'd usually order a cheesesteak or Italian sub. Since I've grown up I've eaten at Jo Jo's many times. Unfortunately, it's one of the few good Italian joints around here. They have a real brick oven here and the gourmet pizzas are awesome. Stromboli is also a hot ticket item here...I would suggest going with the cheesesteak stromboli since that's my favorite, but any filling would be great. They always have specials for lunch and dinner and I almost always find something that I like on the specials menu. The owner is really nice and staff is professional. Bathrooms are clean and the mood is intimate. On Fridays (and I think Saturday) nights they have live music. Really, you won't be disappointed going here. They also have a location in Egg Harbor Township across from Berkshire grill. It's smaller, but the menu is pretty similar. read more

What an experience. And NOT a good one. Two people in our group ordered shrimp ravioli with vodka sauce, and the other two of us had prime rib. All were early bird specials. My prime rib was mainly fat. Got a total of five good bites out of it. But so be it. Meanwhile... the two who ordered the raviolis started commenting how tough it was, like a rock. Then they thought maybe they were eating chicken parm! But then one saw some ricotta cheese, so it wasn't chicken parm. Moving on... spoke to Chef/Manager after complaining, and the idiot said that was how it was supposed to be!! He showed them the menu saying See? It is lightly breaded and supposed to be fried. Then he proceeded too use my husband's fork to test the hardness of each one! Boy was he ever adamant. The more we complained, the more he dug his heels in. Honestly, never in my life has a manager acted this way. He ended up taking $4 off each. Whoop ti do. Never once asking would we want something else. A total disaster. Good food but snail paced poorly trained service. My party of 5 sat down at 6pm and and it was almost 640 before we all had drinks. Consisting of two glasses of wine, one beer, and two sodas. Server was either poorly trained or just didnt care because the dining room was almost empty. At 8 pm we still hadn't completed dinner service between things forgotten and brought out in error.
