Even our realtor told us how unusual it was for the process to be this long and complicated. I wish we knew sooner that we would not be able to move forward with a loan assumption so that my partner and I, our realtor, and the sellers could move on. I do not recommend Pennymac and I will not do business with them in the future.

Customer Service is condescending or never returns calls! Pennymac is escrowing my house insurance despite paid fully. They paid my house insurance 6 weeks before due while I was in the process of changing companies. Then 2 companies were paid in full. Pennymac no help told me I needed to get a refund. Took 2 months and although I fully paid the new insurance continue to escrow my money! Yep you guessed it Pennymac the "Venture Capital Goliath" doesn't pay any interest on ALL their ESCROW Accounts! Quite a windfall for this unethical bunch! I asked to escalate to a Manager, Melissa 937-328-1289 but after 2 missed calls has not returned my call! Imagine Forbes or anyone recommending Pennymac! Just look at the accurate very POOR reviews at TrustPilot, Goggle, Yelp who aren't receiving a payment from Pennymac to recommend them!

After weeks of delays and unexpected costs, we had to switch lenders to move forward. It was a stressful and disappointing process that could have been avoided with better communication and attention to detail. We regret not going with other lender from the beginning.

I began my cash-out refinance at the end of May with the expectation that the process would move forward in a reasonable amount of time. Instead, it is now well into July, and my loan still has not been finalized. The most frustrating part has not even been the delay itself--it's the lack of clear communication. For the past couple of weeks, I have repeatedly been told that my file is "with underwriting for final review" and that we are "just waiting for final sign-off" before being cleared to close. Unfortunately, I have heard essentially the same update over and over without any meaningful progress or explanation. Throughout this process, I have promptly provided every document requested of me. My appraisal was completed, the FHA case number issue was resolved, and every time I ask for an update, I continue to receive the same generic response that we are almost there. If there is a specific issue holding up my loan, I believe that should be communicated honestly and transparently. If there isn't, then the file should be moving forward. Buying or refinancing a home is already stressful enough. Borrowers deserve timely communication, realistic expectations, and straightforward answers. Instead, I have spent weeks wondering whether anything is actually happening behind the scenes because I have received very little information beyond "it's still in underwriting." At this point, if I were not already so far into the process, I would have seriously considered taking my business elsewhere. I understand that delays can happen in the mortgage industry, but keeping customers in the dark for weeks with little more than repeated assurances is not acceptable customer service. I hope the company takes this feedback seriously and works to improve communication and accountability throughout the loan process. A simple, honest explanation goes a long way and would have made this experience far less frustrating

We found this lender to be extremely misleading beginning with our initial contact. After 5 months…read moreof working with them and supplying all the necessary documentation (we had to send the same documents 3 times before they acknowledged receipt), being shuffled to 3 different loan officers because of staff turnover, and contacting them via email, phone, and voicemail for status reports for 3-4 weeks at a time with no response long after the appraisal and initial notary visit had taken place, we decided this lender was not trustworthy. The lender kept changing the terms and rates throughout the process. We've dealt with other lenders that honestly represented themselves and their loan information accurately and have a very positive working relationship with them. WARNING PREDATORY LENDING! Folks, please be mindful if you are looking to get a loan from this…read moreplace. Everything was going smoothly until it came within days of closing my loan. They asked for a last minute increase in deposit by 5%. They had put me in a situation where they knew if I didn't get the extra 5% down then I would lose my initial down payment as well as the property I was purchasing. They had no reason for it so I took my business elsewhere. A few weeks later they came back to me informing me they could close the loan at the original amount quoted. Which means they could have done it initially but chose be greedy and ask for an additional 5% down. This is the definition of predatory lending. I would recommend using another bank for a loan.
