As for the actual treatment, I got home and realized the lasers barely touched the shaded part of my tattoo (on my neck). I guess attention to detail is optional? She's a nurse, so you'd assume she knows what she's doing. But after she hit a nerve and I let her know I was in pain, stopping didn't seem to be a priority for her. When she pulled the needle out, my shoulder twitched in pain, and then she kept tapping the same area half a dozen more times, making my shoulder twitch over and over, as if she was checking to see if I'd do it again. On both of my visits, she "missed" the same spot with the lidocaine, and when I was obviously in pain, she just kept going, even though on the first session, she said she would stop and put in more lidocaine if that happened. She didn't bother to make that same offer the second time. I also had to ask her to put tape over the plastic wrap, which she didn't do the first time either. She basically said, oh, it's going to fall down and it's up to you to figure it out. Aimee, if you're unhappy, maybe try a spa day instead of taking it out on your patients, especially the ones paying your bills. Trans people, I can't say this enough: save your money. Honestly, women in general might want to think twice, since she went out of her way to share her insecurities about getting older. She acted out of jealousy toward me being young, so I'd bet I'm not the only one who got that special treatment.

I only went for a consultation and decided to go somewhere else. I didn't get a removal done here,…read moreso this is not a review of services. I shopped around quite a bit and this consultation was by far the most deflating. So obviously I hate my tattoo and showing it makes me feel vulnerable, I felt immediately judged by the owner who is also the tech. She made an audible sound when she saw it and then she shared that given the size of my tattoo it will be super hard to remove. She emphasized how painful it was going to be and how "patients have run screaming from my office and not come back." I asked how many and she said 2. She said that while she can't remove it all she will "go at it and blast it" and that I was guaranteed to blister and bleed. She noted that she offers no pain management at all. I get it - tat removal is not an enjoyable process but her negativity was palpable. Her prices are on the lower side (gave her a star for that). Other than that there were no positives in that consultation. I left feeling scared, upset, and ultimately took another month to research and consider more options. I went with another removal clinic in Portland that had an amazingly positive and optimistic tech. They complimented me on my tattoo while also letting me know that it was possible to remove 95%. They use PicoSure laser which works great on color. They use medical grade ice before and during the process, frequent breaks and the rep suggested that she tackles different sections per visit so my immune system isn't overwhelmed and the pain is isolated to different areas. Genius! I got a full removal package so they are doing more sessions for the same price vs "blasting it" I've been there 3 times and guess what - no blisters and no blood! All other places I visited emphasized healthy skin after removal and so the more treatments / lower frequency laser the better. Don't go somewhere that promises pain, blisters and blood! I know every person and tattoo removal is unique but I suggest you go somewhere with a positive tech that offers pain management and a goal of healthy skin at the end even if it's a little more time and money.

Further, my decision was treated with respect which made me feel more confident about moving forward. I ended up getting masseter Botox for my TMJ. My injector made me feel comfortable and even provided me with anxiety relief tools. She was precise, patient, and provided wonderful patient care. Unfortunately, my injector is no longer at this business but I'd be willing to see others who are also qualified and experienced. I usually prefer to do lasers etc when I travel because it is MUCH LESS than of the price for the same treatments in the states, but I usually get Botox at home. Overall the vibes are weird, cons of treatments (other than dangerous) aren't really shared, or alternative options for the look you want are not shared (if not sold here) similar to other reviews. I originally tried Dysport in my massetur muscles in my jaw for tension. It helped of course but I did notice slight jowling after which I found out was correlated/caused from Botox in the jaw from tiktok vids. Needless to say, it isn't addressing the underlying problem and is just a bandaid. My last appointment here, I shared I wanted to look a little lifted and refreshed mostly under my eyes. I had done lasers and microneedling in the past which helped, but was short lived. Now -- more thanks to tiktok -- I probably need to fork over for sculptra or sofwave. This will NOT be fixed by injectables. My nurse told me she could do a little cheek filer and some other filler around my face. Mind you, I'm terrified of filler. Potentially I would want a facelift down the line which I have heard can complicate that process, but mostly I don't like the bloated look, it is often so obvious and then you become blind to it, keep getting it, and look crazy. Especially in the cheeks. I already have full lips so I don't need that. It was sold as if it would even out my face and give more balance, and I thought about it, did trust the nurse, who had great texture but who's own filler was still a tad overdone, making me a little wary. It's not like Botox where it wears off over months. You're getting it "dissolved" or whatever with little lumps lying around forever, so I wanted to take the time to think about it and ended up canceling. I could see others being very pressured and trying at the appointment even though I'm sure this is as overpriced as Botox and it gives you the vibes they're trying to hit a metric. They should give you options--even if they don't offer the treatment--for the result you are looking for.

I explained to Houda that I have dry, sensitive skin and am on tretinoin, which further sensitizes skin. Certain ingredients don't mix well with tretinoin and if you're doing a peel, micro needling, etc you have to stop tret use for several days leading up to treatment. During my facial, she applied a salicylic acid mask that immediately burned my skin, to the point that my eyes were watering and it was unbearable to leave on longer than about a minute or two. By the time I got home, my skin was bright red, like a bad sunburn. By 10/11, my skin was peeling off in chunks. I emailed Houda and she replied some dryness and tightness is normal. I am now 4 days out and my entire face is still peeling in large pieces. If I was there for peel, that'd be ok, but I just went for a facial and had no intention of getting a peel and it was never discussed. Houda's response to my concerns has felt a bit dismissive and told me this is a normal reaction. If that's the case, I wish the communication had been better- I had no idea she was going to use a product that'd cause my face to peel intensely for days on end. After looking into the product used, it is not intended to cause peeling. It seems like this product shouldn't have been used on sensitive skin or on a client using tretinoin. The manufacturer of the product advised me to see a doctor regarding this reaction. Based on other reviews I know Houda can do great work, unfortunately I don't think this is a good option for people with sensitive skin looking for a facial.
