Bit of a lash extension novice here! I honestly didn't even know this was a thing until this summer. As someone who's pretty much given up on self-applied false lashes, having individual lashes applied onto my natural ones sounded really promising and intriguing, especially to last for weeks. I had 2 weddings 2 weeks apart so figured it was the perfect opp to spurge. At the time I booked (early Oct), they had an end of summer promo for a full set at $99 - what a steal. It was with a particular lash artist (Sammie) - I learned there are different levels/prices of who you see. Honestly, the tiers, the paying vs getting a membership, the commitment to touch-ups during a certain time or the price basically gets close to another full set... it can turn into a money pit. In order to maintain the look - you are paying several hundreds a month. But if you don't bat an eye to that, all good. I can see why it cost so much as they are meticulously applying these individual lashes for over 2 hours for a full application. The attention to detail is crazy. As others stated, it's pretty relaxing...once I got over the initial eye muscle reaction to my eyes being taped shut. The end result was truly beautiful (see photo of me a day later preparing for my first wedding). I decided at the end of the visit to book a touch-up but two weeks put me right on the 2nd wedding so I was forced to book only a week and a few days, which felt kinda crappy to pay for a 2-week touchup early at $89, so I delayed it to be a bit after 2 weeks and was jumped up to the 3-week pricing at $108...I know I got a promo but paying more for the touch-up than the full-set was a hard pill to swallow. Then I did something stupid. Again, novice...and they don't exactly prompt you on any aftercare / avoidances. Well, I bake sourdough... I got to close to the 500 degree oven and destroyed most of my lashes in only like 3 days after that appointment. High heat will sear off and turn the lashes into split ends. I had no idea what happened when I finally saw myself in the mirror and called the next day to come in. They guarantee the lash work for a few days for a complimentary "fix appt" but when Sammie saw me so knew it was heat damage. So guess what? I had to pay for a "1-week touchup," she only had an hour and it was rushed. Not her fault, this was my fault and I paid another $79 plus tip for it only 3 days later. And so ended my lash extension life. I just let them all grow/fall out, which is a ugly process. This is setup for you becoming a lifer as you do look amazing. But you can see how it adds up. I think committing to the 6-month membership could be cool. Its an expensive up front cost. And you really want to be doing it BEFORE to get any service. You can't decided to get the membership after already booking a regular appoint. So definitely review their services ahead otherwise you'll be like me just throwing your credit card around like crazy, haha. End of story...they do good work here. Its pricey but thats just what this stuff costs. I like this KM location because it has a lot and plenty of parking. PS I didnt get any champagne offered to me..must be a member thing. read more

I went to Kearny LashBar when they first opened and the owner,Tran, did my lashes. I'm hypersensitive to chemicals and when I was getting my lashes done, it stung the rim of my eyes but I didn't say anything because the service was given to me for free; I was constantly worried about it burning my eyes and impacting my 20/20 vision. On top of that, Tran, the person who does my lashes, did not have her beauty license to do lashes at the time so if that's something people are concerned about, I'd recommended going to a different person or store and checking their credentials. Lastly, this place is overpriced since LashBar is a franchise and so there's a premium on the services because the company pays to ride on a brand. If I were to get my lashes, nails, etc done, I try to go to mom and pop shops that are reasonable in cost, personable, and do their job with integrity instead of snubbing the customer. read more

I've been getting my lashes done by Sammie for several months now. I think I started coming around the Fall and haven't stopped. She does an amazing job every single time within ~1 hour maybe less sometimes. I had never had lash extensions prior to coming here- now I always like to have them. They last a long time and are very comfortable. I'm afraid to get them anywhere else because she just does such a good job. Kearny Mesa is out of my way - I started going here because it was the best appointment time I could find, now I keep coming here because she is so good. The first time I had them done, I didn't know what I was doing and used an oil cleanser on my bottom lashes which made the top ones come off quickly in a few days. I booked an appointment because I liked them so much and wanted to try again after researching proper care- and she did my lashes again with no extra charge even though it was my mistake. Love!!! I came here waiting a set of extensions, and this is honestly the best place for lashes. Lashes feel really heavy on my eyelid, and that was one of my biggest concerns when I came along with retention. I decided on a more natural classic set and after talking with Samantha, we chose the length that is a bit longer than my natural lashes. It's been around 2 weeks since my classic set and the retention has been great and they feel so soft and light on my eyes. First-time customer, first-time lash extensions. I wasn't really sure where to go. I happened upon this establishment through Yelp. The reviews had me hopeful, but I wasn't really sure what to expect. I had a wedding coming up so I decided to give it a try since I suck at putting on false lashes. It feels like the business is in a totally random place, kind of off the main road in a business area. It's on the second floor of the building with lots of signs to guide you in the right direction. The interior is open with all the beds/tables in one open area. Everything looked clean. When you make an appointment online, it gives you the option to book with a junior, senior, or master lash stylist, the price increasing from junior to master. I decided to go with the master, Tran, since it was my first time. She was really knowledgeable and helpful with her recommendations for my particular eyes. I wear glasses, so she recommended going no more than 12mm. Because most of my lashes are straight, and the ends were curled, she recommended doing the hybrid lashes for some length and volume. We did a D-Curl and "doll" look. The actual process was not bad at all. You lay on the bed with a blanket, it is cold in there. I can't remember if I had a pillow under my knees, I don't think I did, but I would have preferred that to alleviate any pressure on my back, especially since it's a long 2-hour process. When she taped down my bottom lashes, it wasn't unbearable. Of course it feels weird, but not uncomfortable. There was no pain, no discomfort when she was gluing the lashes on. Here, they cure the lashes by blowing air onto it, then spraying cool water onto the lashes. So if you're looking for a place that doesn't do this, move along. In the end, I absolutely LOVED the outcome. Felt beautiful coming out, and received many compliments. Since it was my first time, Tran recommended scheduling a fill appointment 2 weeks after, so I did just that. The lashes are light, not heavy. and I even forget that I have them. My eyes haven't felt irritated or itchy from them. It's only been 5 days since I got them, but I feel like they still look good. I did lose a couple lashes over the weekend away, but nothing significant, and no big gaps to complain of. I don't know how the rest of the lash stylists are, but I'm sure they're all great. While walk ins are welcome, its best to secure an appointment bc open spots are very limited.. Anyways, it's located on the second floor of a random office building.. but when you walk into Lashbar, you'll see nothing less than a very nice, clean, calming spa. The staff was very kind and friendly. I was greeted right away and offered lychee champagne (they also offered water and la croix). I preferred not to have alcohol, so they gave me a lychee mocktail that was very yummy and unique. Being my first time to get extensions, my technician Amy took her time in helping me choose the right extensions/length/curl, etc so that I knew exactly what to expect. The process took just about 2 hours to complete. I decided on classic, 8-12 length, C curl... it came out beautifully and felt/looked very natural. I didn't want anything way too dramatic. Unfortunately, I've had these extensions 5 days now, and some have already come off here and there. I sent lashbar a message through Yelp, and they replied right away. I just made an appt for a complimentary fill to correct this issue. I really appreciate businesses like lashbar that value their customers and the quality of their service. Getting lash extensions is not cheap, so it's also reassuring to have a place that you can be sure you will be taken care of and satisfied.. Their communication is also awesome. When messaging Lashbar to make my initial appt, and also about the lashes coming off, they've always responded sooooo quickly.... Worst eyelash extensions I've gotten so far. In less than a week, I lost almost all of the fake lashes on my right eye. They look super uneven right now. On their website it says the quality is the same across different levels of technicians. I spent $140 (including tip) and more than two hours last week for a classic set by a junior Cassandra. When she finishes, the eyelashes were barely noticeable, I tried to not get upset and accept that this is a 'natural look' and even tipped. None of friends noticed i had them on and when I told them they were all shocked. To make it even worse, now almost all the lashes on my right eye are gone (I have about 7 or 8 fake lashes left) and the left eye isn't looking great either. I removed myself after two months and my Mary Kay oil free makeup remover worked great. My lashes are still in tact. If I get lashes again then they would curl up more and be a bit more noticeable. I went for a natural look this time as if I just put on mascara but I'd like a bit more glam. I was uncomfortable on the table so adjust the pillow to your liking. I have done lashes here twice, once hybrid and once volume. I work in a pretty conservative environment, so I can't really go to work with dramatic lashes without getting some awkward looks. I like to treat myself during winter breaks by getting my lashes done. Jennie did my lashes, and I think she did a great job. She was really gentle, and she offered me cough drops when I had a dry cough from the cold weather. I followed lash protocol for the next 3 days, avoiding water on the first day and using only diluted baby shampoo to wash on third day. Day 1: loved my lashes Day 2: still loved them! Day 3: woke up and found lashes all over...and a patch missing. I emailed Lashbar and was so scared that my natural lashes hadn't made it :( I did not think Jennie did anything wrong; I just worried that i had a bad reaction. Tran emailed me back right away and said that it's natural for 2-3 lashes to fall out but that she would take a look at mine anyway. When I showed it to her, she said sometimes this just happens & volume should last. I still had lashes she could work with, and she fixed it! I asked Tran about lash perms since I was interested in something low maintenance year round but she was honest and told me that even if I have length, it won't always work with the eye shape. I am so appreciative that she stood by her artists' work and that she squeezed me in for an appointment even though she's so busy during the holidays. UPDATE: I originally booked my fill with Tran, but was in a rush to get them done for NYE and went to another studio ... what a disaster. Their lashes fell out even faster. I really like the location because there is so much parking and it's easy to find. It's really cute and spacious inside, all the interior design is quite modern. And a really cool twist to this place is the "bar" in "Lashbar"! I had no idea they actually offered free Lychee Champagne! It was sooo good. Anyway, the girl who greeted me was extremely nice and welcoming. I actually learned a lot about lash extensions from her. Now I am more educated about the importance of getting the right length and thickness to keep your lashes healthy. I really appreciate Tran for following up with me on how I feel about my extensions as well. And as for Ran, I really liked the way she did my lashes! She was also very polite and professional. Very gentle with my eyes :) my lashes turned out very natural and fluffy! If I lived in San Diego permanently (which is the ultimate dream) I would definitely go here consistently.
