Love this place! Technicians are super nice and friendly. They buy their glues and lashes from Japan. I've been to other places that sting my eye when the glue comes off but there's no irritation at all from here. Also lashes last for much longer here. I wanted eyelash extensions for my wedding and honeymoon - wanted to look glam and natural, and keep the make up easy for honeymoon. I am low maintenance, don't wear a ton of makeup, and am skeptical of beauty fads, so I did a ton of research about eyelash extensions and options in Manhattan. A coworker recommended LashPower as the best place and she had been going for years. I'm really glad I took her recommendation! The process: I had a consultation and first appointment with Akina about 3 weeks before my wedding, as I wanted to ensure I didn't have a reaction and liked the look. The process was much more relaxing than I expected. Salon is small and clean, with very friendly staff. Akina was very thorough, explaining the process and options to me, and helped me pick a set of lashes (I think leaf, J curve, 9 length). The spa room has soft music playing and you lay on a massage table under a blanket. Your eyes are closed with light tape to keep them closed and make the process easier. I was nervous, but quickly became so relaxed that I fell asleep. Akina woke me up and showed me the results, asking if I was happy. There was one spot I wanted a bit more so she filled them in for me. She gave me tips for caring for them, a spoolie brush to brush them, and a wipe to take off make up carefully. I was thrilled with the results - natural but glam (not in your face fake), and made my day to day routine so much easier. I went back the week of my wedding to have them refilled, and at Akina's advice went with a longer length for extra glam - very glad I did. Lashes looked great on my wedding day, and lasted throughout my 2 week honeymoon in which I basically wore no make up. Afterwards: While I loved the look, I had read some horror stories online about bad applications, and even damage to eyelashes from extensions at good salons. I ultimately decided not to refill them again as I wanted a bit of break and had Akina remove them, which was a quick and painless process. While no where near as pretty as the extensions, I'm really happy that my natural eyelashes are completely fine and not damaged at all, thanks to Akina and Lash Power. While I'm not going to be a regular, I definitely will go back for a special occasions or vacations - easy way to pump up your look and lightens the daily make up process. Oh my goodness, I am in love with my eyelashes. I recently moved to the city and it took me a week to decide on what eyelash lounge to trust and I nailed it! I read the reviews and still wasn't sure, but the photos looked amazing so I said why not. I booked a last minute appointment for 11 am. I called an hour ahead and they were happy to accommodate.(though I would recommend an appointment, it was busy on my way out) I went for a 3 week fill with my lashes done in Vegas and they did an even better job. I was recommended the C curl, leaf lashes. I went with it and totally worth taking the chance. They take credit/debit card, but TIPS ARE CASH ONLY! Absolutely the best. You show up, lay down on a comfortable massage table, close your eyes, listen to relaxing zen music, take a nap or at least seriously chill out, wake up and you are beautiful. This is my monthly experience and the results are so good that since coming to get my lashes done for a friend's wedding, I am still coming back every month after 2.5 years. Each time I leave feeling calm and lovely. The lashes last from 3-5 weeks depending on your lash cycle. You shouldn't get your eyes wet as much as possible (i.e. Putting your full face in the shower stream or splashing water on your eyes and rubbing them or swimming under water extensively) but it's not that hard to wash around your eyes when washing your face and my face is always a little wet from the shower and working out (ew) and my lashes still last. When I go on vacation I go under water if I feel like it and they are generally fine unless I'm really doing hours of underwater swimming. I work a lot (people on NYC do) and I workout a lot from training for the marathon to strength training and yoga several times per week. I barely have to wear makeup with these lashes (little bb cream, under eye concealer and blush) which saves me tons of time when I'm getting ready for work or going between work and gym. I don't have to sacrifice looking good bc these lashes make you look like you have the nicest most natural looking eyelashes. I don't even wear makeup on the weekend anymore unless I'm going out to dinner/an event. People compliment my eyelashes all the time and they are shocked when I tell them they're extensions. I used to be one of those people who didn't go outside without mascara and now I haven't worn mascara in years. And my real lashes are longer and healthier (they take periodic pics) because I don't curl, mascara, wash them all the time. Ayumi has been doing lashes for a long time (I know her from my hair salon) before she went out on her own and it shows. She and her staff are highly professional and the whole experience of getting your eyelashes done at lash power is like a mini spa retreat. I was hesitant to write a review for Ayumi... Only because I was being selfish and didn't want anyone else to find her. She is simply the best!! I've been going to her for an year now. But I've been lash extension addict for couple years... I only been to few other places... There's a reason why I can't cheat on Ayumi. She uses the best glue and lashes. Her techniques are professional because the materials she uses and different designs she offers. The price is fairly reasonable compared to other places I found. My lash extensions last from 2 wks to a month. It depends what I do and my life style. I gotta say, I get compliments from strangers and friends. So I am very satisfied! Ayumi is excellent and takes her time. Lashes are beautiful but come out more natural looking so if you want a very dramatic evening look for a special occasion, I would think twice. She uses good quality ingredients and lashes and the result is that they last a long time. Note that appointments fill up quickly so you have to book weeks in advance, which is annoying sometimes. I have tried 2 other places and here is my comparison of all 3: 1. JJ Lash - mass lash factory with poor quality (heavy) lashes that didn't last long. They started falling immediately and were pretty sad looking at the end of 2 weeks. Don't get sucked in by the big name and multiple locations. 2. Lash Power - boutique specializing in lashes that does a fantastic job. Their specialty is natural looking lashes so if you want a very dramatic look, this place isn't it. The owner is the main technician and recently she hired another woman to help her (who is also great). She takes the time at the beginning to discuss what you want and then takes 2 hours with me. In comparison w Vicky, Ayumi's lashes seem to be a bit thinner and the look is not as dramatic. My guess is that Ayumi uses better quality lashes (thin is usually good b/c it means they wont drop as quickly) but for me the lashes started crossing and tangling rather quickly. They last a really long time on me - 4-5 weeks before it starts to look like they could use a refill. By then, it's past the refill time-frame so I tend to just wait till they mostly fall out and then get a new set (after 3 weeks, you get charged regular price so might as well wait till more have fallen out). Compared to Vicky, the actual lash application was a more pleasant process here. For some reason my eyes were bothered and teared at Vicky's. 3. Vicky C5 - My technician Amy took her time and did a great job. At the start of the visit, she didn't ask me what I wanted to do, which was a bit odd but I just told her what I want and we figured it out (it helped that I knew from previous experiences). Compared to Lash Power, my lashes came out more dramatic but still ok for daytime and a professional environment - I liked this a lot. My natural lashes with good mascara are pretty nice so I prefer a more dramatic look if I am going to pay for this service. I read in other reviews that here they dont put lashes at the edges of the eye but I know I like a cat-look so I specifically asked Amy to put lashes at the end and to make it dramatic at the outer edge - and she did it. B/c the lashes appeared thicker than at Lash Power, I was worried they would feel heavier or shed quicker, but that hasn't been the case. These lashes stayed pretty straight and didn't cross for 2 weeks, which is great. I am now on week 3 and they started crossing a bit and looking more sparse but they still look nice. It's also easier to get post-work evening appointments at this place than Lash Power. As noted above - the application process wasn't as pleasant for some reason and my eyes teared a lot here. IN CONCLUSION - I would recommend both Vicky and Lash Power depending on what you wanted and how much you are paying. Lash Power doesn't seem to ever run promotions so if you can get a promotional price at Vicky - try it. Note on lash care - the less you touch them, the longer they stay. I would say, dont even use those brushes they give you since they tend to pull lashes out. After a shower I just blot with a tissue and straighten them out with my fingers gently. read more

First time getting lash extensions and wanted them for a wedding I was in. I was pretty confused on how to enter the building but after calling and having the cleaning lady open the door, it was fine. But I hear they're moving in August so might be different soon. I had Akina work on my lashes and got the Leaf (natural c curl) look. They looked great and felt pretty good. After 3 days, some of them started to fall out but I attributed to the lash cycle so fine. But the inner corner of my right eye always bothered me. I wasn't sure if the lash was too long or what but it always irritated my eye. When I run my fingers along the lash line, I noticed it was more "rough" at the inner corner. So I examined closely in the mirror and noticed, the extension was glued to 2 of my own lashes and was glued slightly too far from the lash line.. so it appeared loose a lot and caused irritation. Had to wait a day or two to see it finally she and now my eye doesn't feel as irritated. I was hoping to return to get them filled but I'm worried the lack of attention to this detail would hinder my experience. It could've really gone south if my eye had an infection from an extension glued onto 2 lashes.. read more

I came here three weeks ago and I was able to book an appointment on the day. When I arrived my technician sat me down and we went over the options. It is extremely clean and comfortable in the reception area and the room. I was also late by 15mins due to the trains but they were so accommodating. I got the cotton eyelash set (middle price) I didn't feel pressured into paying for the most expensive. Once she put the eyelashes on, if I wasn't entirely happy she would fix anything without making me feel like a pain. Three weeks later, I knew my eyelashes needed to be refilled because many had fall out so I called in the morning and got an appointment for later that day. However, when I went back this time I wanted a more prominent look. Before, they looked great and very natural. Maybe people complimented me thinking they were my own natural lashes lol. Nope!! So my girl said to me to get a darker look I should try "leaf" option, which was $10 cheaper than the cotton. I thought there and then, she really only cared about what I wanted rather than trying to get the most amount of money out of me. She did say that they may fall out slightly quicker because they are heavy, but we shall see!! They do everything to help you feel comfortable. My new addiction ek!! read more

Our consultation led me to the perfect, natural-looking, full lashes! A few hours later I thought a lash was doing a weird thing and called to ask if I could come back.
