Flying out of Atlanta back to LAX, my wife and I had the opportunity to fly in Premium Select class…read moreon an Airbus A350-900. It was worth remembering (documenting). By maintaining Delta Platinum Medallion level, I'm able to purchase a Main seat (not Basic) for me and a companion, and almost immediately upgrade to Comfort+, if they are available. That's been my M.O. for most flights, sometimes (very rare these days) being upgraded to F.C. the day of. So when I got a notification 2 days before our flight to LAX, that we had been upgraded to Premium Select, I was excited, mainly because it was something new (knowing that Premium Select is different than first class). We also got to pre-order our dinner for the 4 hour flight, right on the app. Premium Select was tied to boarding group 2, and had 40 seats. The A350-900 has Delta One lie-flat seating (1-2-1 configuration with total of 32), so after that group 1 boarded, it was our turn. Premium Select is configured in a 2-4-2 configuration, meaning that a Delta One seat is about twice as wide as a Premium Select. Main economy is configured as 3-3-3, so that missing seat's width is distributed across 8 seats: the width is pretty much the same as an economy seat. Where it is quite a bit better is the pitch (the space between you and the seat in front of you) and the existence of manual built-in adjustable leg rests and foot rests. It made a big difference for me, being able to elevate my legs and feet. There are three buttons to control it (with the 3rd button controlling the recline). One negative is that the space in front of you to store a small personal item, is a lot smaller (shallower) than a typical seat. My wife had to put her duffel bag up on top because it wouldn't fit. Other added feature included the aforementioned dinner (similar to what one would get served on a first class seat), noise canceling headphones, bottled water, pillows and blankets for comfort, and a Tumi amenity kit. The seatback screen seemed bigger as well, though there were continuing problems with the playback of movies throughout the trip, with inconsistent sound (a lot of static) from the headphones. Wifi worked fine, so used that instead. This flight had a total of 10 flight attendants to take care of the 300 plus passengers, and they were friendly and attentive. Because of a problem with the flight attendants not arriving on time to the gate, we were delayed 1 hour. But nobody seemed to be in a hurry (LA seemed to be the final destination for most), and the flight ended up being very pleasant. Our checked bags did come, though to the wrong marked carousel. But it was nice to be home, taking a Lyft back to Long Beach.

I can't count the times I've connected at Hartsfield-Jackson - it's been too numerous to count! Interesting to learn the airport is named for former Atlanta mayors William Hartsfield and Maynard Jackson and that it is the world's busiest airport by passenger traffic since 1998 (except 2020 when C-19 affected travel) and that Hartsfield-Jackson served 108.1 million passengers in 2024 - Wow! For me, it's crowded! Everywhere! The trams are packed and are useful! The amenities are okay, if you have the time to a. get to your next gate (after all this airport has 200 gates), and b. if there's room for you to get a seat in a restaurant or bar. Depending on the time of day, I typically get a Jersey Mike's sub, an Auntie Anne's pretzel, or something at a bar like TGI Fridays, PF Changs or Phillips Seafood. And a bottle of water from one of the news stores. I've never had a bad experience at Hartsfield-Jackson and all the staff have been helpful, friendly and professional. The lack of a fifth star is due to the extremely crowded nature of this airport, each and every time I have been on travel through Atlanta!

I want flights to leave close to schedule, employees to be helpful, and the overall experience to be stress-free. Based on this trip, I'd say the airline accomplished exactly that. Making the reservation online took less than fifteen minutes. The website was easy to understand, and I liked that there weren't any surprises during checkout. Everything from baggage allowances to optional extras was explained clearly before payment, which made the booking process feel transparent. The evening before departure I checked in online and saved my boarding pass to my phone. The process was quick, and it meant I didn't have to spend unnecessary time at the airport the next morning. After arriving, I headed directly to the baggage drop area. Even though several flights were departing around the same time, the staff kept passengers moving efficiently. Everyone I interacted with was polite and willing to answer questions without making travelers feel like they were slowing things down. Once through security, I had enough time to grab a drink and relax before boarding. The departure gate remained well organized, and updates were announced regularly whenever boarding preparations progressed. When boarding finally started, everything happened in a calm and orderly manner. The gate agents politely reminded passengers to wait for their boarding groups, which made entering the aircraft much smoother than I've experienced on some other airlines. The cabin looked spotless when I stepped onboard. The windows were clean, the seats appeared well maintained, and there wasn't any leftover trash from previous passengers. My seat provided reasonable comfort, and I had enough room to store my backpack underneath without losing too much legroom. Not long after takeoff, the cabin crew began serving refreshments. What impressed me most was how approachable they were. Every request seemed to be handled with patience, whether someone needed extra water, assistance finding overhead space, or help understanding a connection after arrival. At one point, a passenger wasn't feeling well, and the crew responded immediately. They checked on the passenger several times, brought water, and handled the situation professionally without causing unnecessary concern among everyone else. Seeing that level of attentiveness left a positive impression. The remainder of the flight was calm. I spent some time reading, enjoyed the snack that was provided, and appreciated the frequent updates from the captain about our progress. Those announcements helped the flight feel shorter because passengers always knew what was happening. As we approached our destination, the crew prepared the cabin efficiently while still taking time to thank passengers individually as they walked through the aisle one last time. It's a simple gesture, but it made the experience feel a little more personal. After landing, we reached the gate quickly, and baggage delivery was surprisingly fast. My suitcase arrived without any damage, allowing me to leave the airport without spending much extra time waiting around. Overall, this trip reminded me that a good airline experience doesn't need to be filled with luxury amenities. Friendly employees, a clean cabin, clear communication, and dependable service can make an ordinary flight feel genuinely enjoyable. I'd be perfectly happy choosing this airline again for a future trip.

Whether traveling for professional goals, a special celebration, or an international escape, the experience created a confident beginning filled with comfort, anticipation, and possibility. **When Every Detail Moves in Perfect Balance** Premium travel became more rewarding when each part of the journey worked naturally with the next. Thoughtful planning, welcoming airport surroundings, dedicated passenger assistance, and comfortable pre-departure spaces created a steady flow before boarding. Travelers could complete important tasks, enjoy refreshments, prepare for the flight, or simply relax away from the busiest areas of the terminal. Every transition felt carefully coordinated, allowing the journey to progress without unnecessary pressure or confusion. **Above the Clouds, Comfort Finds Its Place** The business class cabin offered a refined environment where modern design supported the changing needs of every traveler. Generous seating, elegant finishes, ambient lighting, and thoughtfully arranged personal areas created a space suitable for productivity, entertainment, and uninterrupted rest. Passengers could work comfortably, enjoy their favorite programs, read in peaceful surroundings, or watch the world pass below. Every feature contributed to an atmosphere that felt private, balanced, and naturally relaxing throughout the flight. **Service That Turns Moments into Memories** The onboard experience was elevated through thoughtful hospitality and attention to the details that shaped each passenger's comfort. Carefully prepared cuisine, quality beverages, selected entertainment, and useful travel amenities added greater enjoyment to the time in the air. Professional cabin crew delivered assistance with warmth, efficiency, and respect for personal preferences. Every interaction helped create a welcoming atmosphere where travelers felt valued, supported, and genuinely cared for from departure until landing. **From Final Approach to a Graceful Arrival** The premium experience remained consistent as the journey continued beyond the aircraft. Coordinated arrival assistance, efficient baggage services, and organized airport transitions helped travelers move toward their next plans with confidence. Whether continuing to a hotel, meeting, connecting flight, or holiday destination, passengers experienced fewer interruptions and greater convenience. Each stage remained connected by the same commitment to reliability, comfort, and thoughtful passenger support. **The Journey Leaves More Than a Destination** Business class represented more than premium seating or exclusive services--it transformed each flight into a meaningful part of the complete travel experience. By combining intelligent planning, sophisticated surroundings, attentive hospitality, and dependable coordination, every mile became more enjoyable and memorable. The destination completed one chapter of the journey, while the comfort and care experienced along the way created lasting impressions and inspired travelers to look forward to the adventures still ahead.

Dates: June 30 - July 8, 2026 BOOKING Code: NWZQMY…read more THE GOOD I purchased a RT trip fare. I travel by wheelchair because of a mishap occurring over 15 years ago, when I was knocked down onto the floor at an airport by a rushing traveler. When, "Going", (flight to Seattle) my pillow and blanket pack did not make it onto the plane. I was unaware that it was not with me until I had boarded and was unable to locate the items. The packing cube generally stays attached to my carry-on luggage. I was very concerned because I recently had neck surgery and I'm also challenged with intense and wide-spread arthritis. The planes, generally, are kept VERY cold during flights. I voiced my concern to one of the crew members and all tried, in vain, to locate the items. They were wonderful! The air was kept moderate the entire trip and a neck pillow was fashioned out of paper towels and plastic. It worked and I had a very restful and comfortable flight and to my knowledge, there were no complaints concerning the plane's less than frigid air. Thank you! THE BAD I paid for an upgrade, twice, once when I purchased my RT fare and again for my return trip, to have more sitting space and not to be required to walk far to deplane. I have an artificial right hip and severe arthritis in my back and both leg joints, especially knees and left hip. My seatmates were two men. (Full flight, no seats available) The middle seat was occupied by a 6'4, @280 lb gentleman who had no extra space and basically took what little I had sitting in the window seat, "8F". He was just as uncomfortable as I. The man, in front, let back his seat and again the middle seat passenger's knees were cramped with no movement allowed at all. I had lost my pillow and blanket on my initial flight. My daughter bought me a replacement pillow. I just needed a blanket. I tried to grab a blanket when boarding the plane from 1st class, I was told they were ONLY for first class passengers. I tried to explain my circumstances and was quickly shut down and asked to proceed to my seat. Different plane, different crew, different attitudes. When I tell you I suffered, let me tell you, I SUFFERED! The plane was freezing! My seat had no back support and no butt support. The bottom foam padding had separated and was lumpy. It provided no support for my aging and arthritic hip whatsoever. My feet and ankles swelled and my back and hip were in excruciating pain thereby rendering me unable to stand when it was time to deplane. In order to deplane, 2 service people assisted me in order for me stand out of my seat and then to hobble off the plane into a wheelchair. I did not get to enjoy my family that I visited. My activities were limited. The pain in my joints stayed with me the entire stay. I am on a fixed income. Airline tickets are currently extremely high cost expenditures. It will take 6 months to pay off, with interest, the cost of the ticket. My recommendations to ALASKA AIRLINES: 1. Do not count pillows, extra seat cushions and blankets as "extra" baggage. Most seniors need them for medical reasons, not just for comfort. 2. Invest in ergonomic seating for your passengers. We all deserve to be comfortable though you have us packed in like sardines in a can. 3. Train ALL crew to extend quality customer care.
