Dr. Velez has been my chiropractor for the last three years. I'm not sure where my back problems began, but I just started thinking of what my life was like before I started seeing a chiropractor and was like Dr. Helmer is a lifesaver!! I was constantly complaining of back pain, taking 800mg of ibuprofen daily, I had horrible posture. The first time I went to Dr. Helmer, he was very friendly and very welcoming. I felt really comfortable with him and trust him with my life...literally, adjustments call for cracking neck bones! As I've continued to go to his chiropractic practice, he always remembers what's going on in my life and has excellent bedside manner. It's been great getting to know him, too. He was an M.D. in Bolivia but wanted more people to heal naturally rather than on chemicals found in prescription drugs. Dr.Velez does such an amazing job. I came here towards the end of my second trimester with excruciating lower back pain. It would take me 10-15 min just to get in and out of the car, I could barely walk, and it was extremely painful to sit, kneel, or lay down. Since I was pregnant, he was limited to what he could do and he told me it could take 2+ months to see results. After only a month of being seen 2x/week, I was able to drive and move with ease. Dr. Velez is warm and seems to have a genuine love of people and their health. He is extremely knowledgeable and helped me tremendously with dislocated ribs (VERY painful!) and I now see him regularly (I'm pregnant, due in June, and feel completely comfortable being adjusted here), and I bring my 1 year old son for regular adjustments. A lot of people don't believe in chiropractic care. I never would have tried it had it not been for a friend recommending that I see Dr. Velez. A few years ago, I struggled with chronic headaches. My neck and back pain were so bad that I had trouble just turning my head to switch lanes on the freeway! From my very first adjustment, I found relief. Over time, and with instructed stretching and exercises, the pain had went away. A few years ago i was told by a Dr. that i had Degenerative Disk Disease, and there was no cure besides surgery that might not get me back to 100%. I suffered through discomfort for years having back pain for so long thinking i HAD to deal with it. A friend of mine highly recommended Dr. Velez. I have to say I was nervous to try Chiropractic care as it deals with the spine, but I was in so much discomfort I decided I would go in. I'm SO glad I did. Not only did it relieve my back pain but it also helped with the constant migraines I was getting that used to last for days. I have a compressed disk and a pinched nerve on my mid-lower back caused by a car accident I had about 10 years ago. During my pregnancy I was really concern about my back and how the pain would be as I advanced in my pregnancy. I found Dr. Valez on Yelp. I started seeing him during my third trimester and I am soo glad I did. After my first visit, I felt amazing. My back pain was controlled and I felt great. He also worked on my pelvic area to prepare me for my delivery. Being that this was my first pregnancy, I was able to go through labor with no epidural and was only in the hospital for 7 hours before I had the baby.
