I've had the opportunity to experience LATHER's products, and I have to say, they're pretty darn good. I was hesitant at first because I love my K-beauty products. However, the employee was very helpful in explaining the environmentally friendly products. The demonstration of their use on my hands and my husband's face wowed us, and we ended up purchasing products. I originally first came to Lather for a Yelp event, and had such a great time that I wanted to take the chance to come back again for a regular shopping experience. I was again greeted by the wonderful store manager Millie, and was able to browse around the store, and test out some of their new products that I hadn't gotten a chance to try at my last visit. Last time, I was able to pick up a wonderful sunscreen and facial mist that have worked wonders on my skin (no more burning sensation from using sunscreen around my eyes, and now I have soft and supple cheeks thanks to the mist). This time, after sampling a number of products, I added a great smelling clove soap to my Lather collection. Returned to Lather today because the SPF Daily defense Sunscreen I purchased wasn't working correctly. The staff working today apparently had her dog with her that she allowed to roam throughout the store. I personally am not a fan of everyone's dog having experienced such a tragic experience with loosing my own dog. I didn't appreciate her dog walking up on me and sniffing around me. I was introduced to their products in Spring of 2024. Mosaic is the perfect location for this shop. The shop is clean and organized and sits amongst some wonderful shops. The body butter is the best compared to other butter brands. Love the smooth consistency. I am typically an Aveda facial products person but have recently switched to Lather's ultra face wash, almond moisturizer and peptide eye gel. The price point is great compared to the higher end brands. I like being able to get special attention when I'm shopping in store. The staff is just fabulous. I had the pleasure of visiting the store and being introduced to Lather products a couple of weeks ago. Sofia took her time explaining each and every product, and suggesting appropriate products for my skin type and needs. I've got to say, I had been looking for a skincare routine that I could stick to, and Sofia may have changed my mind for the better. I absolutely love their Chia seed and passionfruit cleansing oil. I love make-up, and I am constantly looking for better ways to remove make-up. This is a great product for that, and the way Sofia explained to me on how to use it, it was a no-brainer that I buy it. I also love their sweet almond facial moisturizer. It is absolutely gentle, and delicate, perfect for my skin. I am excited to try their SPF. The area around the store is pretty quiet and nice, and the staff here is really knowledgeable about the skin care products, including its ingredients and benefits as well as pairings that goes well for scents. I'm so particular with skincare products as I have super sensitive skin but all of their products are gender neutral, cruelty free, and naturally made. I love that whatever I use, my husband can use as well. Usually I get nervous to try products (I love smelling them and feeling the texture), but they made me feel right at home. They had little disposable tester spatulas for each product which made me feel clean and safe. If your indecisive like me, they'll let you take samples home! About 15 years ago, I made the conscious decision to stop buying cheap so-called "health and beauty" items after reading up on all the destructive chemicals that go into these products. The most toxic of these ingredients are parabens and phthalates. Parabens, widely used as "preservatives" in personal care products, are known hormone disrupters which have negative impact upon the human endocrine system. Phthalates are chemicals that make plastic soft and flexible; which is odd then that these compounds are found in shampoo, hair spray, soap, moisturizers, and a whole host of personal care products...yuck! It's easier to just buy whatever mass marketed personal care product that is available in CVS or COSTCO, until I finally made the connection that all this "stuff" that I'm using in my hair and skin eventually gets absorbed into my body. That's why I always appreciate Yelp partnering with great shops like Lather since I've walked by this shop many times and didn't know about their corporate mission (https://www.lather.com/pages/about-us) or the products they offered. I visited as part of the Yelp Elite "pit stop" event, and was super impressed by the service and knowledge of the team member who assisted me, Autumn. She mentioned that Lather is a California based company with a goal to provide natural cosmetic and personal care products that are free of harmful chemicals. In fact, the location in the Mosaic District here in Fairfax has been operating since 2014...which I was not aware of. Autumn provided a detailed brief of the different sections of the store, to include how the products are color coded to correspond to different areas of personal care. I really enjoyed the various body scrubs at the station that was set up for the Yelp event, and also had fun making my custom essential oil blend at that station. I also picked up some tips regarding some issues I have with razor burn when I shave (a common problem for men) and purchased a product which was recommended. I truly enjoyed my quick elite "pit stop" at LATHER thanks to Yelp NoVa! I was greeted by a smiling staff who walked me through the the two stations. Station 1: Body - I was able to try 4 different body scrubs and 8 different moisturizers for my hands and body. I loved the mini spa day to myself! My favorites were the yuzu sugar cane body buff and the coconut foaming body scrum. Both left my hands smelling heavenly and super smooth. Out of the body moisturizers, I loved the almond, milk & honey body butter the best. I loved the variety of options from thick to thin butters and lotions. A very personable and helpful staffer greeted me upon arrival. Since it was my first time visiting, I got a personal tutorial on all of the ways I should explore the store and its offerings. From a wonderful body washing station to explore different washes, to cruising the color coded sections of products it was both an educational and rejuvenating experience. I appreciated the chance to take my time, learn and consider things I really haven't given thought to previously. A special treat was an invitation to make a personalized oil to take with me. Came to visit Lather for the first time as part of a Yelp Elite experience! I've noticed this store many times while being in mosaic but have never stopped in for some reason. Let me tell you! I have the ultimate dry hands before covid but worse now that we have to constantly wash and sanitize our hands. My favorite combination is the bamboo lemongrass scrub & the yuzu buff. FiniSh off with the jasmine & plumeria body whip. The perfect combination for baby soft hands again! Station 2: the blending bar - got to mix our own essential oil roller ball! I was basic and just followed their recipe for "energizing" since I'm always tired - this will be great to carry around and smells amazing! I am so impressed!!!! Not only by the store but Autumn, the store rep who assisted me during my visit, were both excellent! For starters I had no idea this store existed. I came by for a Yelp Elite event and I am so glad I did! The store is very clean and bright but that doesn't matter as much as the products! The products are all made with essential oils and ingredients either from small and/or organic companies! I normally dislike MOST essential oil products because of the overpowering (and usually gross) smells. The products I sampled smell and feel great. The prices are extremely reasonable and comparable to The Body Shop or Origins. I loved so many of the products I had trouble not buying everything I tried! I'm excited about the avocado mint hair repair and the Advanced Blemish serum. But my FAVORITE is the Pear and Lavender!!! I love the smell and got the moisturizer. My "pitstop" at LATHER was definitely a great experience! I drove pretty far for this yelp experience and it was definitely worth it! I'll start by saying I love the products In there! My favorites definitely have to be the pain reliever creme, the foot pumice scrub and the all natural deodorant, which I didn't buy this time but maybe next time. I really liked how they set up stations to not only try their products and get an idea of what they stand for but also to make aromatherapy rollers with about 8 different scents. I was lucky to had a chance to try some samples from this place and now lets just say that I'm super addicted to their product. I really like their hand moisturizer, it's not sticky and it leave my skin soft. The shampoo line (mint) was really good for my hair. My hair was super dry and tangled but after trying the hair mask (avocado) and using the mint shampoo, it made my hair feel amazing!!! The only down side is that the bottle size is super tiny!!! I have long hair and the shampoo tube and the mask tube is so little. I'm so sad they don't have any option for larger bottle size or refillable bag that is good for the ecosystem. I'm also in love with the 10 minutes leave in face mask, it make my skin feel so brighten and glowy. Make sure to give this store a chance, don't be intimidated because the employees are very friendly and they are willing to let you try any product samples. I first came to LATHER for a Yelp Event, but also came by again after winning a raffle for a Pamper Party with my friends. There's a huge variety of products from facial skincare, to lotions, to bath products, to muscle relievers, to aromatherapy, and more. They even just came out with a sunscreen that I had to get. Would love to see some type of deodorant/antiperspirant as well. The best part about Lather, other than knowing that what you're using on your body is safe and all natural, is that they let you try and take home samples of free much everything. It's hard to agree to spending money on skincare and also hard to know if something is going to work well for you. So having this perk is pretty much as good as a "free returns" policy for those of us with commitment issues :) The customer service is also top-notch. I was always greeted right away, and all of the employees were helpful and friendly. It's clear that they use the products themselves as they are full of recommendations and helpful tips. Across my visits, I was helped by Autumn, Sona, Kathryn (I think that was her name), and a younger Black woman who I also cannot quite remember the name of. I couldn't have asked for better service from all of them, especially as someone who cares about skincare but doesn't know that much about it and is a low maintenance gal. I made some purchases of my fav products and, needless to say, took home a bunch of samples that I've trying over the weeks. There are a few that I definitely like a lot and others that I don't see a huge impact with but am so glad I was able to try it out. Prices are pretty reasonable. They can seem high for some of the serums, but a little bit of those go a long way, so ultimately I think it's all fairly priced. I got to visit here for the first time as part of a Yelp Elite promotion and was very impressed! To begin, the staff member present was so kind and friendly. She walked us through a few stations set up where we got to test a scrub and make our own essential oil blend. All of the products smelled amazing and I could tell they were effective (the scrub made my hands feel fantastic). They have a good variety of products, from hand soaps, to scrubs, to skincare. They also have men's products, like beard oil. They have an online store too so you can order products that way. The products are a bit on the pricey side here but I would definitely come back and splurge on skincare for myself or a gift for a friend! read more
