I got to visit here for the first time as part of a Yelp Elite promotion and was very impressed! To begin, the staff member present was so kind and friendly. She walked us through a few stations set up where we got to test a scrub and make our own essential oil blend. All of the products smelled amazing and I could tell they were effective (the scrub made my hands feel fantastic). They have a good variety of products, from hand soaps, to scrubs, to skincare. They also have men's products, like beard oil. They have an online store too so you can order products that way. The products are a bit on the pricey side here but I would definitely come back and splurge on skincare for myself or a gift for a friend! read more

Stopped by to check out this shop nestled in the mosaic district. It is a real gem. Not only is the staff very professional, but the products are top of the line. I was able to sample a few of the lotions as well as try out a custom oil. The prices are a bit expensive, but as you will come to find out, a little goes a long way. My small lotion tub I received will easily last me a few months. It is also important to mention that you can even host your own mini event with friends or larger with work. I visited Lather as part of a Yelp experience. Staff do wear gloves and masks and sanitize in between customers. Samples are stationed at every different section they have but they have little disposable sticks/spoons so that you do not have to worry about cross contamination in between use and there is also a sink in the store at the body scrub section so that you can wash your hands as well. I was assisted by Autumn and Catherine today. Autumn was very knowledgeable and explained the layout of the store, as well as suggested any products that may address different needs that I have. I purchased their nighttime balm for sleeping and one that helps with headaches so I'm excited to try it and see how it works. There is also a fun storm where you can make your own essential oil and I believe you can come back and return it or have it adjusted at any time if you ended up making it too strong etc, so that was nice. I am very weird with scents and so a lot of products will be overwhelming but to be able to make my own was great. read more

Thanks to Yelp, I was able to treat myself to a mini "pitstop" at Lather. I live right by Mosaic District so I've walked by a million times but never thought to go inside. I'm so glad I had the opportunity. There are tons of "tester" bottles so you can try the products before purchasing. They even have a sink so you can try the scrubs out. I loved everything but my favorite was the thick body butter cream (there are 2 options - coconut and honey). My 2 and 3 year old joined me and loved "the cream store." My daughter's favorite was the plumeria cream and my son seemed to love everything. There's nothing like having a two year old to remind you that relaxing vacations is a thing of the past. But thanks to my recent discovery of LATHER, I've been able to steal a few minutes of self care every single day. LATHER is a skincare line without synthetic fragrances, dyes, parabens, sulfates or mineral oil -- something that has really mattered to me since becoming a mother. When I asked if they carried a baby line they mentioned that all products can be used safely on all members of the family due to their commitment to using all natural ingredients. I went in for a pampering party and was able to experience a variety of their products. I loved everything from the soothing honey face mask to the almond hand scrub which literally was a game changer for my cracked, dry skin. I went home with a coconut creme body whip which is luxuriously moisturizing yet super light. The coconut scrub is foamy, non-abrasive and sweet smelling. Paired with the lotion, I'm a happy puppy frolicking in the clouds with sunshine pouring down on me. The staff was super accommodating, knowledgeable and even gave my daughter a little spa branded headband so we can work on our skincare routine together! My experience at Lather was excellent! It felt very personalized. The salespeople encouraged me to take my time, and I was happy with what I saw. Admittedly, my experience may have been a little bit different because I can here for a Yelp Elite event. I got to choose some samples to take home, including a beautiful coconut foaming hand scrub and an essential oil roller. For my roller, I chose Moroccan rose and peppermint essential oils, and they smell great! The atmosphere of the store is extremely soothing. Gentle music plays in the background as you peruse the different products. they had some that you could try at the sink before buying. Also, you're allowed to take your mask off to smell, which is quite helpful. The wheelhouse of Lather is their skin care products, but I was also intrigued by their candles. Everything smelled great, so I would be happy buying just about anything they had to offer. The salespeople had recommendations to make as to which products I should try, which I appreciated. This store is another excuse for me to return to the Mosaic district, and I look forward to doing so soon! read more

To continue my birthday we stopped by here after the outlet to pick out some hair wash/conditioner sets, body wash/lotion set and hand therapy lotion. The hand lotion keeps your hand soft for long period throughout your day and so excited to use the hair wash and body wash. If you're looking for products that is free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and synthetic fragrance and colors, give Lather a chance. After listening to Sofia (Who is amazing and very knowledgeable and helpful) and Learning about the products, the company background and the hands on leadership by the founder, I was more than intrigued. I had no idea the first store opened up in California in 1999! Where have I been?! Why I loved it: -A blending bar with natural oils. I didn't fare too well in college chemistry. In fact it was one of my lowest grades but at this blending bar it was fun and with Sofia's guidance, I was actually appreciating chemistry!! -my fiancé is unusually susceptible to mosquitoes. It's so bad that sometimes they will just bite him all over his legs and not even touch me. Sofia recommended three different essential oils that she blended with water: lavender peppermint and Rosemary. I'm so excited to give it to him. -Beautiful store, well merchandised and even the boxes and packaging are biodegradable. -After Sophia tested some lotions and body scrubs on me I purchased the bamboo lemon grass moisturizer and the bamboo lemon grass foreman body scrub! There's a really cool daily defense mineral facial sunscreen with a matte tint & SPF of 50. Got that too. -able to try so many products before spending money on them is a big advantage. A wonderful store with really friendly staff! They sell a lot of scented items meant to heal and relax! What's especially unique and cool about this store is that you can actually create your own items! They have a list of ingredients and you can make your own lotions, essential oils and more! It's super cool!!! So, basically, if they don't have what you want, you can make it yourself! Definitely a great gift idea too!! I made an essential oil with lots of peppermint which I loved!! I probably smelled like a walking candy cane afterwards but that's OK!! It made me happy!! The staff here are more than happy to help you in anyway possible!! When I used to work near Mosaic District, I always passed by LATHER but never went inside. I just thought it was something similar to the Lush stores at the mall - but I was wrong. I had the opportunity to try LATHER during a Yelp Elite event and totally fell in love! The company is woman-owned, they use all natural ingredients, and they don't test on animals. All of the staff are super knowledgeable and friendly with any questions you may have! I admittedly haven't been the best at taking care of my skin but their products have encouraged me to make it a better habit. I started off by purchasing a starter pack of the combination skin products and once I ran out, I immediately bought the full sized bottles. I highly recommend LATHER! I came to Lather for a private event and at first I thought that I couldn't see myself buying anything from this store since it seemed like the typical overpriced gig at the Mosaic District. That may be true, but I am still enjoying the natural organic vibe of the whole district- the new age gone mainstream. Soon, enlightenment will be mainstream. Hmm, maybe too soon for that :) Back to soaps... We had a skin care consultant who almost sold me a vitamin C serum, but since Amazon has already supplied me with an awesome one already, I'm not about to fix something that doesn't need to be fixed. Actually Amazon supplies me with everything I could ever possibly need, but that's another review. And since I go one step further in the natural department aka making my own stuff- I tend to not need these branded products anyway. But, I was sold a lip conditioner which worked pretty well since I went in with the worst chapped lips ever. I also got seduced by an amazing smelling clove/cinnamon spice soap bar which had to be paired with one of those fancy wooden soap dishes (I've gone through way too many of these already but every time I see one, it's like meeting for the first time!). So as someone who wasn't planning on buying anything, I would say that if you spend enough time in a store and align with their values (at least superficially), you'll probably end up buying something or another in the name of "self care" or "self compassion" or "Loving Kindness" or whatever our new agey trend is these days. This is probably my newest favorite place in the Mosaic District. If you come to the area, definitely swing by. The staff was really friendly and the store front was really aesthetic-looking. I got to try some bubbling/foaming scrub (or something like that). It's basically a scrub that also bubbles like soap. So it's like a teo in one. It is amazing! I think my favorite was the sugar scrub and the lemongrass one. Then we moved on to the lotion and man it was even better! They have a jasmine scented one which is my favorite. I also liked their essential oil area whoch you could add sifferent scents and/or create a mix they have put together or create your own. Then you can put it in a small roller or a tincture bottle. They also had a nice discount for the Yelp Elites which I took dvantage of. Then I was given a nice goody bag with lots of cool stuff and samples. I tried the cooling grl they have for pain and it is soo helpful on my back which hurts all the time. I will definitely be going back! read more

I hadn't realized I'd already heard of Lather when I started working with them to put together an event for the Yelp Elite Squad -- but it turns out that their products are the go-to bathroom goodies in many hotels these days! Lather's all-natural, essential-oil based approach to skincare is much appreciated, and the gals who work at this new Mosaic location definitely know their stuff. Autumn gave me a customized skin analysis and her recommendations for dealing with my rosacea-red, super-sensitive, dry AF skin (the trifecta!). One cool thing about Lather is that they offer samples of their products as well, so you can go home and figure out what you really want. On my first visit, I walked out with a new night moisturizer (the Australian plum night cream), an amazing brightening body scrub (the lemongrass one), and the Revive & Thrive balm, which I'm not exactly sure how to use yet other than to smell it 1000x a day, which I do, and it's a serious mood booster. I also walked out with samples of two different cleansers (cucumber & extra mild) that Autumn recommended for me, tried them at home, and then hastened back at my first opportunity to purchase the extra mild because I loveloveloved it. Walking into LATHER is like walking into a purer, cleaner, less-assaulting version of Bath & Body Works. All the scents and fragrances are essential-oil based (nothing fakey here!), so it's not a totally affront to your olfactory senses, but it still smells sooooooo good. You'll seriously want to take 15 minutes to go through and sniff all of the soaps lining the middle shelves in the store. I'm so excited to find a new skincare and beauty brand that has such a great, positive message and company behind it. Updating my review with another 5 stars. After post pamper party last fall and getting a few products, I finally tried the bath salts for muscle relaxation as recommended by Autumn. Unfortunately, these salts burned my skin when I tried using it for the first time. My skin is pretty sensitive and dry, so perhaps it just didn't react well. Smells wonderful though. Anyway, I went to the store today and saw the policy on returning with receipt only. I told the two very nice employees the situation, and they let me exchange for the muscle ease gel which reminds me of a nicer smelling Icy Hot or Tiger Balm. They had some issues with their new payment machine, but told me not to worry about it and just take it. I was relieved and thankful because I honestly did not want to take back those salts! We had an event here last night and it was so much fun! I had a great time sampling their products and the staff here were all so friendly and knowledgable. Most of their items have subtle scents and aren't too strong which I love. They offer a ton of options for any skin type. I had the best time at LATHER in Fairfax. The store manager, Autumn helped me out in the 2 hours I spent there. Autumn was super nice and answered all of the questions I had about the products, people's reviews of the products, the ingredients, what would work best for me, etc. she took all of my questions and did not beat around the bush with her answers. I feel like Autumn 100% knows each product so well with the way she answered my questions. Now, the products...wow, phenomenal! The products are so nourishing from the scrubs to the lotions. One key factor of the products are the lack of filler in them like are used in other skin/hair companies. LATHER's products are so concentrated that you only need a little each time to fulfill the product's use. This is even more perfect, because the bottles are mostly (if not all) under 3.4 fl oz which is TSA enforced for flight travel. Some still were a bit of an assault to my olfactory system but many were not, which was a pleasant surprise. I was lucky enough to be able to partake in the June Yelp "Treat Yo'self Pitstop" at LATHER in Mosaic District. If it weren't for this event, I would have probably continued to confuse Lush with Lather without ever paying a visit but now that I had the pleasure of stopping by and getting a nice little pamper sesh trying many samples out and guidance from the friendly and knowledgeable gal who works there. I am definitely won over! This is a much more organic, natural and more upscale type of setting and products than your average Bath & Body works, with pleasant, subtle more natural scents and ingredients in their whole product line. My favorites so far have been the bamboo shower scrub, the peach and lavender night time light face lotion and the cucumber face toner spray. I love the way all of these smell and I feel confident these are nourishing and healthy for my skin. Last but not least is the muscle ease gel with natural pain relievers. This stuff works well for sore and pulled muscles and has great aromatherapy effect as well but not gross and overly menthol-y the way so many other muscle ointments can typically be. I know because I used this every day for a week until every bit of my sample ran out. I plan to go pick up more soon! Update - After buying several products (a lot) on several trips to this store, there was one product that did not agree with my skin, so I brought it back. When I purchased before, I was told to just bring anything back that I did not like, not a problem. Well, when I brought the item back, it seems like a huge hassle. I was told they might be able to look me up, I really do need a receipt, yada yada. They were able to look me up after making it seem not possible, and I was still purchasing more items at the time, so this really upset me. As a loyal customer, I expect businesses to honor their word, including return policies, without an issue. Sephora has an easy return policy, and as someone who likes to support smaller businesses, this makes it tough for me to go back and not head to Sephora instead. read more

I wanted to wait a few weeks to write my review because I bought mostly facial skin care products for my acne prone skin, but I will say that I am a HUGE fan of this detox mask after only two uses. I have bought almost every mask known to man to help my congested skin, and seriously this the best one I have tried so far. They nice lady in the store told me it was hands down the best mask she had ever tried and I am a believer. The mask seemed to pull everything out. I use the mask in combination with the charcoal tea tree oil soap bar. So far so good. As far as the body soap bars, my mom makes handmade soaps so I am familiar with the product. I like that they use olive oil which is what my mom uses. Whenever I use commercial bar soap ( like dove) I always breakout in tiny bumps. As soon as I stop and go back to handmade soaps, my skin clears up. So I am sticking to handmade and I am glad there is shop nearby I can go to for those times when my mom can't get a batch to me in time. Went to Lather specifically on Saturday afternoon to get help from the amazing Tim. Tim is a high school student who is rumored to be a genius with scents. My favorite Aveda product has been discontinued and I only had a small sample of the scent to work with. Tim mixed essential oils, adding a drop of this and that.
