I have only come to this restaurant/cafeteria for takeout and it always hectic. Either the staff is too busy chismiando and talking to attend you or they just don't care. For example, you walk up to the window and greet the staff and ask to pick up your order, they tell you to wait (they keep gossiping) 5 minutes later after they've ignored you they hand you your food that's been sitting on the counter right in front of your face for the last 5 minutes. Then you hand them your card....and guess what, expect to wait another 5 minutes for them to hand it back to you...you might think they are busy.....nooottt at alllll. Now onto the food, it's not bad but it's definitely not good. Many other places close by that cook great food and are attentive to customers. read more

Trying to do so much in Miami Beach and elsewhere, we really didn't get our fill of Cuban food to be honest- but we tried to squeeze one more Cuban spot. Aside from the good dose of Cuban food we had in Versailles, hubs missed his chance there to get a Sánguche Cubano. Since Cafeteria was on our way up to Southwest Florida Airport, hubs took another crack at getting a Sánguche Cubano in this Hialeah spot. Greeting was straight to the point- but nice and seating was a no-brainer. Instead of butter on the Complimentary toasted bread, these 'Pan Tostado Con Mantequilla', had globs of unmelted margarine, which hubs didn't even touch. Menu isn't complicated and has a good amount of stuff to choose from. I went with white rice, Black Beans and an Enchilado de Pescado y Camarones (Stewed Fish and Shrimp), while hubs had the Sánguche Cubano. For one, the fish in my dish was chunky and very good as well as the sauce. But the baby shrimp, didn't give the dish any substance and tasted off. Second, hubs' Cuban Sandwich lacked those infamous, 'Cuban Sandwich' fixings. I don't eat meat- much less pork...but I can still brag a bit about the low grade ham used here. Bread wasn't toasty or flattened and the pork was sliced thick and so much of it. Hubs loves pork- but left most of it behind. Plus the sandwich just smell porky...ewww! Listen...nothing against strip mall eateries because we've all been to very nice ones. But Cafeteria is a sad example of strip mall food gone bad. read more

It used to be the five star local Cuban cafe now the chicken sandwich has gone up in price and no flavor. Their fries were so good now have zero flavor and there the crinkle frozen ones not even cooked to golden crisp. The Vaca frita portion was great but the meat had a sweet sugary plantain flavor. Usually coming to this place you may not know about it unless you have family or friends that have been coming here for years. Located next to an ihop you have great Latin food. The family owned restaurant really makes you feel like family. Inside: not the best looking but still clean. It's a little small too but you will fit. I reccomend maybe 4 people as a group. You are brought fresh toasted Cuban buttered bread while you wait. On the tables they each have a handsanitizer and napkins. Food: perfect portion size, juicy and cooked to order. The chicken they use is the dark meat which makes it juicy but it's already filleted. You get 2 sides and the chicken entree also comes with fried plantain chips. This is a super simple-looking, basic cafe, but the food is simply amazing. Service speed can vary by how busy they are, but quality and friendliness is always top-notch. My wife who is a Media Noche fiend says this is the best she's had. They are indeed well made, and always consistent. The pork is soft and buttery smooth, fantastically spiced. Croquetas are nicely spiced, a generous size, and the perfect combo of crispy outside with a soft smooth filling. And the chicharrones are amazing. Ok. So this place starts you out with a basket of buttered, toasted, Cuban bread and mariquitas. It was really good. I ordered the chicken steak with rice and salad. My buddy ordered a breaded steak with moro. The food was really good. I would recommend this place and will def come back myself. The only downside was the service. I absolutely love this little hidden Gem. Food is delicious, service is awesome, employees are great. You can not go wrong with this little spot. And they beautiful part of this place for the prices of these plates , the quality of food surpasses everything. I can honestly say it's probably the best Cuban food cafeteria located here in Hialeah Gardens. They have natural juices. I can't stress the fact that they serve actual natural juices. (Orange, watermelon , and guarapo). The palomilla steaks are huge. The portion are fair. And they give you the classical old school complimentary treatment of toasted Cuban bread with butter. You may think you've had good Cuban food, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice to miss this. The Congris, the papas fritas, dip your Yuca Frita in it... Also, DEFINITELY make sure you try the Maduros, fried sweet plantains, that I literally cannot recommend enough. And if you have room (we took boxes - the portions are quite generous), finish off with a nice hot Cortadito or Café con Leche. Cubans KNOW their coffee. Located in Hialeah Gardens' restaurant row, I enjoyed a delicious chicken breast in a plate that had more chicken than moros. My only knock would have been that the sodas are in cans instead of refillable. As another reviewer noted, service could be slow and friendlier to their regulars even when you sit at the counter cafeteria style. Fast forward to early last week, when I stopped by for dinner for my fat boy status dish of chicken milanese. I specifically asked for light cheese and heavy sauce, and this was the first sign since cheese was as normally is. One bite past the breading and the chicken was actually chewy and a bit cool as in not being properly cooked. The rice was also a little bit sticky, as in seemingly scraped from the pan. To their credit, they did prepare another plate and didn't charge for it. I didn't get sick, so that's why the rating isn't only one star but don't believe I'll be coming back. read more

If you show up at 5am, you'll see the same chicharrones and empanadas from the day prior and not fresh made. The Cuban toasts are made with old bread and not fresh. Horrible food service we got catering for the week (which mean I paid in advance for 5 meals , i just had to pick it up after work. )first day was ok but form there on food quality was horrible in the sense of the rice being old even tho we called and ordered 10 min before. By mid week food was not pleasant to eat , we felt the was not prepared fresh and everything carried over to previous day. In the last day of catering service we got pan con steak which was unable to eat due the bread being rock solide for all four orders , had to throw food away. I don't recommend. Had to ask for ice, ketchup and food was served cold. Manager was called and apologized but the damage was already done. Regular breakfast combo with sausage, bacon or ham, egg, and coffee, toast and hash browns or French fries is $5.25 for all that! Coffee has not a lot of sugar but you can put as much as you need because every table has sugar in the table, including tooth picks, napkin, ketchup, and a big thing of hand sanitizer! Nothing says 4th of July more than this place! Came here on a holiday and they were still open- unbelievable. I ordered the special, which included half of a roasted chicken, morro rice, and a salad, with a side of ajo and marinated onion in vinegar. It doesn't get more Cuban than this! This is your typical Cuban Cafeteria-style restaurant. I felt like a little kid going to my grandmothers house for dinner. I wouldn't particularly say it the best Cuban food I've had, but it's certainly convenient to know they're open at all times- rain or shine. For a huge meal less than $6, I'm all about it. Decided to try them out for dinner and personally it wasn't for me. The prices are great because you get large portions but I just didn't enjoy the meal. The chicken was weird, the rice was tough, & the red beans came in a bowl with I think I counted 8 beans & the rest was sauce & meat. Huh? My dad said this is normal for a Cuban restaurant. Amazing hidden cuban food spot. Prices are low but don't you think the value goes low too. Because the value is outstanding. The medianoche's have LAYERS and LAYERS and LAYERS of ham and pork. The hugest croquetas i've seen also live here. A few milkshake flavors go for as low as 1.00 $ unbeatable! I also every once in a while stop by for their to go special of grilled chicken ($4.99). It comes with moro rice and plantains with sauteed onions on top. You have to be a pretty heavy set person to be able to finish it in one round!
