    Pan con Bistec Sandwich
    Michelle L.

We were looking for good upscale cuban food without breaking the bank and El Patio was it. Just be warned that it is located inside of the Westland Shopping Mall and the outside area is just of the view of the parking lot. Other than that, I recommend. Food was really good. The appetizer sampler bandeja had a little bit of this and that for everyone. Masitas de puerco, croquettes, chicken wings. And truffle fries why not. All very good. We shared the pan con bistec and it was churrasco steak inside which was pretty surprising. The passionfruit mojitos we had were also very good. Definitely a place you want to go if you're in the Hialeah area and you're craving some good noms. Service was excellent too!

Sandwich cubano el Moreno - not great

I came here after a trip to the vet since we were hungry and we saw they allowed pets. We sat outside and the ambiance was nice, it's attached to the mall so your view is of the parking lot. The service was decent minus a dirty lie, food was mediocre and the dessert was awesome. My biggest gripe with my experience is I asked the server if the tip was included when he showed me the tipping screen and he said no, so I tipped. When I saw the emailed receipt at home, I noticed a 20% service charge was already included, so he blatantly lied and I double tipped. The food was not great. The tuna tacos we had for the appetizer overdid it on the soy sauce and they were very salty. My entree was the sandwich cubano el Moreno. The meats inside of it were very stale. Not worth the excess calories. Perhaps I made the wrong selections, but both of these items were recommended by the server. For dessert we got the lava cake and that was actually really great. The chocolate inside was not overtly sweet. It was nice and warm and tasted fresh. A lot of places will have similar desserts and they taste frozen and microwave heated. Not this one. I really wanted to like this place but the food was not great and I was blatantly lied to in order to squeeze more money out of me. Despite how good the dessert was, I can't see myself coming back here with so many other great options in the area.

This place is a classy but looks like a great place to have a small happy hour or date night. They had good music not bright and the staff were very polite and attentive. Water and drinks were refilled often and we were if we checked on many times. Love that you can take your family and it's not just for specific ages. The food was good. Some items were a twist on usual ones like the croquet's in a pap rellena form was interesting. The food was also a nice serving. Would definitely go back with friends.

Hubby and I have been here twice. Today was our second visit and it seems like they are trying to rebrand since the logo and menu are somewhat different, though both seemed fine before. Food is decent and service is pretty good, but we likely won't return often because I can't stand this new trend where restaurants are automatically adding tip even to small parties and then asking for a tip as if you haven't already paid one. It's just offensive at this point and this particular restaurant added a service charge of 20% then asked us to choose between adding 5, 10, or 15% tip without making it clear that this was in addition to the 20% already paid. This is not the first place we see this shady practice at, but it is the first one doing it at 20% rather than 18 and it does not matter the party size as there was just two of us. It's not like the place is cheap either. Prices are high enough as it is, so to force me into prepaying 20% tip without knowing if the service justified it and then ask me to pay more tip on top of that just feels like highway robbery. The service was good and we would have tipped at least 20% anyway, but baking it into the cost and then trying to trick customers into paying more tip on top of that is just plain deceptive. I think I may start boycotting places that do this purely on principle and I will certainly be leaving a review about it every time I come across it to help future customers avoid getting duped. Also, I wish I had taken a picture of it, but the churrasco that my husband ordered was either a) not churrasco (he thinks it was palomilla) or b) a really substandard cut of churrasco (I think this is most likely). The problem is that when you pay $30 for a churrasco, whether or not churrasco was actually served should not be up for debate.

Our food took about an hour to arrive and was cold. The vaca frita was so dry and greasy that it was inedible. Both the lechón and vaca frita needed salt. The food and service were abysmal. Our server just dropped off the food and left till it was time to present the check and we never saw a manager. Don't waste your time or money coming here. I hear the comedian who owns this place is supposed to be funny. Maybe he is, I don't know, but his restaurant sure is a joke.

3.5 stars. A place to visit once, but a return visit isn't warranted. I'll address service first because it was overall a weird, unwelcoming dining experience for us. Waitress wasn't knowledgeable of the menu. Asked her what the special sauce on the sandwich was and she said "well it's a secret sauce I can't tell". I'm not asking for the recipe but like is it mayo based, ketchup, mustardy, a glaze - anything so we know what to expect and her answer was "I don't eat bread.. so I don't know" Weird lol. Decor was eclectic, but overall the vibe / service didn't feel that welcoming. The chefs literally glared at us from behind the kitchen as we ate and one of the waitresses couldn't stop glaring at us. Mind you, we weren't the only ppl in the restaurant. Didn't like that energy. Anyhow, nearly everything we asked for that was ON THE MENU they didn't have. No merlot. No mint for mojitos. Said we can do a strawberry margarita - no strawberries. Asked for an extra shot of the Cuban rum the waitress had no clue what the name was and they couldn't give it to us based on their license but could add it to the cup. Again, something I've never experienced in dining. The Pork Appetizer had a dope herb chimichurri-esque sauce that I liked. The tuna tacos weren't worth the price. They were good but were missing SOMETHING. It was a random menu item that could be executed better The sandwiches were also missing SOMETHING to put it over the top. Presentation was nice but we ate half and was over it. The fish of the day had a very sloppy soup like rice to it which was unexpected. Not the best execution.

Came here for lunch with my best friend and was unfortunately not thoroughly impressed with the food at this restaurant. It has such great reviews so I really expected more. The ropa vieja pita tasted like it was prepared with a store bought pita bread dough and smeared with "Wholly Guacamole" from the supermarket. The ropa vieja was good, but the overall taste of the flatbread almost tasted old. The crema de malanga also wasn't the most incredible. I will say the portions were excellent and the service was great as well. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out to me.

So I came again - (now fully vaccinated) and I could eat happily inside with the air con. See my previous review, I love, Love, love the decor. I came for my birthday treat with my daughter on a Friday at approx 3 pm - we ordered the following.. - Their appetiser - called Platanitos en Tentacion - which in short is sweet plaintains with an applewood bacon wrapped around it served with a five spice syrup. It looked beautiful. I would give it a 6.5/10 - it was too sweet in my opinion and I also think the applewood bacon is too thick to serve with it. My daughter said I like the taste but the consistancy together was kind of weird. The plaintain is super soft and then the bacon is kind of too thick, and a bit rubbery and you are still chewing it after the plaintains has disintegrated in your mouth. The flavour is there though and the idea is innovative. To make it perfect, I would choose a thinner bacon, and ease up on the sweetness element of the sauce. We shared their - Havana Blue Burger - which is 1/2 burger with applewood bacon, crispy onion and blue cheese, with mustard sauce and tomatoes on a brioche bun. It came with fries. It was MA S S I VE - so glad we were sharing. Again the presentation was amazing. BUT the burger is so god damn tall - it is impossible to eat, without, cutting into it and dissecting it. I challenge anyone to wrap their mouth around this baby, AND if you do, please send me a picture. What I did NOT like......I asked for tap water, and we were served with a bottle of water for 1.50 - I asked our server please take this away and she said no, we cannot give you tap water? what? what? what? TAP WATER IS FREE TO ALL AMERICANS.. I AM IN YOUR ESTABLISHMENT AND PAYING FOR FOOD??? WHY AND I AM FORCED TO PURCHASE THIS?? for this I am reducing to a four star - I seem to remember last time I came I was "ALLOWED" free American tap water. Also there was this weird charge on the bill - 0.63 charge for "credit card charge" - this is before they knew whether we were using a credit card or not??? JUST STRANGE....

Super excited this place opened back up. I have high hopes for the new location in Westland mall next to Macys.( Location: Where cuban guys use to be.) I'm happy to report the food is still delicious, looks great, and you leave satisfied without breaking the bank in Miami. The inside of the restaurant itself is cozy with a wynwood meets vintage Cuban vibe. There's a bar and stage for a perfect date night expirance to boot. I will be coming back again!

Some pretty delicious media noche croquets! Enjoyed everything we ordered even the kids mac and cheese is made in house no kraft box. We had a frita burger amazing and a must try is their appetizer platter which brings croquets, crispy yummy wings, pieces of porks, truffle fries. Their aioli garlic sauce is so good comes with the croquets but amazing with the fries as well. Dessert creme bulee was deli. Great ambience and friendly service. A must try wont disappoint.

Avocado was great and enough for three people to share. My mom had the arroz con pollo à la chorrera. This was huge!!! Definitely enough for two people to eat. I had the enchilada de camaron and it was just like I remember it from my childhood. So flavorful and a big portion of shrimps. There's parking behind the restaurant but the spaces are a little tight. The inside is spacious with lots of seating and great for large parties. Everything was great except for the service. He was not attentive whatsoever, was just standing around talking to the other waiters instead of checking on our table. We had to call him over a few times for things we needed because he would not pass by our table unless we called him over. This is a great restaurant for Cuban food and I always recommend it to people. It's a shame the customer service is lacking.

When I first walked in, I was greeted by one of the servers. She spoke to me in Spanish and based on my response to her question, quickly switched to English. She sat me at a two-top. At first glance of the restaurant, it was decent size. They were doing construction around the entrance where the bar was, so it kind of took away from the appeal. While I've never commented on this before, I noticed my water and wine glass were so streaky. They weren't see through like usual but def. could have been cleaned/rinsed more. After being sat, I was given water and some focaccia crackers. While I loved the idea, the crackers were impossible to "dip" and made the oil pointless. For drinks, I went with the passionfruit margarita. They had a few cocktails to choose from, but this has been my go-to as of late. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about. As a starter, I went with the Cuban Caesar and for my main, I chose the pesto pasta and added chicken. The Cuban Caesar was easily one of the best I've had! I loved that it came in a Parmesan bowl and the yuca croutons were different but good! The croutons were a weird contrast because the salad was so cold and then you have these hot pillowy croutons with a weird texture. Regardless, I give the salad a 10/10. The pesto pasta was great; super rich but unfortunately, not much else. The chicken didn't have any seasoning and I almost wish I hadn't paid an additional $6 for it. The service was great and although they weren't that busy, I still believe it would have have still been good. Overall, I had a great time here and I may come back next time I'm in town.
