Cuban authentic!! Simple with no frills, just good old home cooking. Bursting in flavors and humble sweet service! It was a chilly Miami evening and the family and I were craving Hot Chocolate with Churros! It did not disappoint - it hit the spot! This restaurant is a Hialeah Staple! Iconic and full of charm. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely love this little Cuban cafe. Love to come here on Sunday's for a home cooked meal. It may be small their food reminds me of my grandmas cooking. They waitresses also remind me of my grandma as they are so sweet. They are inexpensive and the food may look ok but it is really delicious.

Man! This spot in Hialeah is where it shines ! I drove from Homestead all the way here. And I'm upset I didn't take pictures of our food to show everyone. But when I tell you this has been the best Cuban food ever! I am not exaggerating. So full of flavor the palomilla and my grilled chicken . I was wishing I had an extra stomach to finish it all. I did remember to catch the churros that you can't miss out with a cup of chocolate when you visit morro castle. Must must eat here! I promise it's fire.

The place was clean and organized for the most part, however service was pretty poor but it's subjected cause they could simply be having a bad day but they are nice. My overall review is depending on food so here it is: I got the cafe con leche and the especial de el día: carne con papa, rice and beans with tostones The meat was so tender and flavor was a good, there was a piece of potato that wasn't cooked that well but it's only one piece so it's okay. The tostones were fresh and crispy and was delicious with their garlic sauce. The rice was standard and beans could be better, it's missing some seasoning in my opinion. Overall it's pretty good if you're in the area and have a want for home cooked Cuban food. But I wouldn't go out of my way to have it again.

A few days ago, we were coming back into Miami late, after a long drive. Miami today is very different than it was two decades ago, with very few options for late night dining. Morro Castle is one of those few options. We went out of our way and into Hialeah to grab a bite. I have to say that on all fronts I was pleasantly surprised. I had a grilled chicken breast with congri and tostones. Everything was fresh and made to order. It wasn't a large portion, but it also was very reasonably priced. It tasted great. My son had the large pan con bistec, so that was great also. We ended the meal with a hot serving of freshly fried churros. The dining room itself is nothing to write home about and the place could use a good deep cleaning. That said though, it was five star food in a three star environment. Four stars for a good late night bite.

Food was very tasty& authentic. Service was excellent, the ladies working take good care of you as well. Amazing spot, heard it's been around for 50+ years but never visited, worth it

Morro Castle never disappoints! I had the steak with rice, fries, salad, and a side of sweet plantains--everything was a perfect 10/10. The flavors reminded me of grandma's cooking, warm and comforting. I ended the meal with churros, vanilla ice cream, and an exceptionally rich espresso. If you're craving affordable authentic Cuban food in a cozy setting, this is the spot to visit!

Best Fritas in Florida, no one comes close, their Trigo milkshakes was not cold at all , lastly my favorite that reminds me of my childhood Los churros are not even close to what I've had there before they where short and fat burnt on the outside yet raw inside . Quick service, cafeteria style diner. Not sure if they've changed ownership but this meal was not like my prior review.

    Hialeah staple.

Was meeting with some friends for an early lunch last week and I suggested this restaurant. The inside is not that big and parking is terrible, but I figured the food would make up for it. Very few tables inside but it was clean and has a counter area where the customer can sit or can sit and wait for their to go order. Not sure what has happened during the past two years but the food wasn't that great this time around. We shared the simple egg sandwich with bacon, and ordered a cafe con leche, the croqueta sampler and some islas canarias croquetas. The simple egg sandwich was unflavorful. The croqueta sampler and islas canarias croquetas were my favorite. Sadly, the cafe con leche didn't even taste like cafe con leche. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed although it was just our table and two more tables she was serving. There was a total of maybe 8 customers. We had to keep asking her for more water and napkins.

We came in the evening and immediately, as we walked up, there was music, people laughing, talking, smiling... the energy was incredible. I also loved that there was a bar off to the side while waiting. We ordered a few mojitos and sat outside at the tables and benches, just enjoying the atmosphere. When our name was finally called and we walked inside, I genuinely felt like I was stepping into history. The atmosphere here is unmatched. The music, the aromas, the people. God, I loved it here and I hadn't even tried the food yet. We ordered the braised oxtail (which came with plantains and rice), salmon glazed in guava BBQ sauce, ceviche tropical, assorted empanadas, and a Cuban sandwich. Everything was phenomenal. The sauce paired with the empanadas perfectly. The guava BBQ glaze on the salmon was absolute perfection. It was the perfect combo of sweet, smoky, and flavorful. The ceviche had the perfect acidity and tasted so fresh and refreshing. This is one of the most famous Cuban restaurants in Miami. It completely lives up to the reputation. Highly recommended

There was literally dirt/mud at the bottom and I took my first bite and it felt like biting into sand. Upon spitting the food out onto my plate it was black sludge. Literally my tongue and teeth were black. The waiter came by and grabbed the plate when I was in the bathroom. I spent about 10 minutes trying to get that BLACK SLUDGE out of my mouth. When I was spitting out the dirt/mud wife noticed the bus boys laughing at me and there was not a manger in sight. When I asked for a manager he did not even respond. No apology or anything just a look of confusion. Worst experience in a restaurant in my life and I love to eat and have been to many types of restaurant big and small. Cheap and expensive and this one takes the cake. We were so bummed as I see thousands of great reviews. But if there was a zero I would have given zero stars the way they handled the situation. If you eat there in the future make sure to check for DIRT/MUD.

However,…read morewith slow service and nickel and diming (18 percent automatic tip) and smallish portions I don't think I'll be back. Having had a quick workday lunch and walked around the mall, I had worked up an appetite. I was seated in a corner table for two and my order was taken. The restaurant did not seem that crowded even for a Friday night but it felt like a long wait. Unlike many Cuban places, they don't offer complimentary bread. I ordered their "platanos a tentacion" (bacon wrapped sweet plantains), grilled chicken and moros. The rice was a little hard and the chicken breast on the small side and barely seasoned other than the onions garnishing it. Service didn't feel very attentive for me as a solo diner. Between finishing my dinner and waiting to order either dessert or cafecito, I also sat and waited until a waitress finally came by. At that point, I just got the coffee and my check. I don't believe I was offered a printed receipt, just the card terminal. I asked if the tip was included and pretty much in time when I was putting the usual tip (trying to be generous with 20 percent) I was told that it was a service charge, and that the tip was extra, but had full amounts starting with 18%. So basically I paid 30% tip for a small portion of food and inattentive service. Looking back, I see that this restaurant had a different name and I had enjoyed dinner at their other location six years back. It's disappointing to see how it has fallen off. As it were, a lot of the original creative items on the menu are no longer being offered.

When I first walked in, I was greeted by one of the servers. She spoke to me in Spanish and based on my response to her question, quickly switched to English. She sat me at a two-top. At first glance of the restaurant, it was decent size. They were doing construction around the entrance where the bar was, so it kind of took away from the appeal. While I've never commented on this before, I noticed my water and wine glass were so streaky. They weren't see through like usual but def. could have been cleaned/rinsed more. After being sat, I was given water and some focaccia crackers. While I loved the idea, the crackers were impossible to "dip" and made the oil pointless. For drinks, I went with the passionfruit margarita. They had a few cocktails to choose from, but this has been my go-to as of late. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about. As a starter, I went with the Cuban Caesar and for my main, I chose the pesto pasta and added chicken. The Cuban Caesar was easily one of the best I've had! I loved that it came in a Parmesan bowl and the yuca croutons were different but good! The croutons were a weird contrast because the salad was so cold and then you have these hot pillowy croutons with a weird texture. Regardless, I give the salad a 10/10. The pesto pasta was great; super rich but unfortunately, not much else. The chicken didn't have any seasoning and I almost wish I hadn't paid an additional $6 for it. The service was great and although they weren't that busy, I still believe it would have have still been good. Overall, I had a great time here and I may come back next time I'm in town.
