I had red/copper hair a year ago and haven't touched it since, she made sure to check if my hair was good enough to resist another bleaching so I wouldn't have breakage. I moved away from my normal hair salon so I needed to find one close by and I'm so happy I found this place! The place was on the smaller side which I personally liked and made for a nice cozy atmosphere. I made an appointment for a wash and cut and I was met at the door and they immediately started working my hair. The tech who washed my hair was super friendly and was so easy to converse with her. I got my cut from Sonia and I'm so glad I decided to give her a try. She took the time to understand what I wanted and made sure the amount she was cutting was okay with me. She is so passionate about her job and knowledgeable about the ins and outs of hair. I have no doubt she actually cares about her clients. I love having my hair cut here. Sonya is super sweet and never cuts more or less than what you ask, she even does my curly hair cut dry to help with the curls. It always turns out perfect! When I first came to the US I didn't want to pay so much for a hair cut I wouldn't like, but here they charge reasonable prices and do an awesome job, so I am happy to pay full price and tip! Talking to some of her other clients that have been coming to her for a long time, some of them live more than 30 minutes to 1 hour away and they say they will still continue to come here because of how good they are. QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY! Moving from Massachusetts where quality walk in cuts for women are $14 at a nice salon, I had yet to find one here in MD (been here just over a year). The only remotely cheap option (but not equal quality) was a hair cuttery place. I wanted a quality small business. Well look no further! I had my car detailed down the street and on a cold winter day walked down Balt Ave and stumbled on this gem! Which it truly was. Sonia is amazing- respectful, knowledgeable, down to earth, and professional. Her passion shines through her work. While I only got a trim on my ends, she took her time and paid attention to detail. Left my hair looking great and me very happy! The place itself is spacious and extremely clean! For the very reasonable price, the quality is unsurpassed. Oh my goodness I can't tell even describe how wonderful this salon is. Not only do they do great hair, their prices are very reasonable and they get you in and out in a timely manner unlike most salons. I have been going to Germania for several months and she has done wonders for my hair. As an African American woman who has gone natural, Germania has done wonders at not only straightening my hair, but getting it to the point that it is healthy and shines. I was doing a blow out for several months and it always amazed me that the blowout would last the full 2 weeks even more if I wrapped it. I have had my hair "pressed" many times before and literally the next day it would be a bushy mess. I will say they use a lot of heat so if that is not your thing you may not want to try this place, but for me it works. I recently asked to stop straightening my hair, and Germania was completely fine and gave me this great curly look which I love, especially for the summer. The salon was doing such a great job with my hair that mother decided she wanted to try it out. She goes to Sonya, who happens to be the owner of the salon and she too is now natural (YIPPIE). Sonya showed her that she didn't need a perm and my mother hasn't had one in almost a year. My mother's hair last for at least 2-3 weeks if you get the blowout and her color is always great. As another poster said, sometimes the color does fade and it gets on your pillows and clothes, that happened to my mom the first time, but I think it is just par for the course when you color. But, I am not sure. Sonya and Germania are the best and they are truly magicians when it comes to hair care and style. I think it is worth for everyone to try this salon. They don't overbook like many other salons I have experienced and the place is clean and have a professional atmosphere. I came here twice, the first time for a trim with Sonia and the 2nd time for wash, condition, and trim with someone else. I really liked Sonia, she gave me good advice for the health of my hair that made a lot of sense, and helped me to choose what kind of trim I'd like. I had old layers and she gave me all one length that looked very good. Months later when I went back she recognized me before I recognized her. But someone else did my hair and it was horrible and my hair is still recovering. This person used WAY TOO MUCH HEAT on my curly hair even though my hair is fine. Under the dryer was extremely hot and I felt it burning my scalp. Then came a hot blowdryer, which she also aimed at my scalp directly and closely. Finally, a flat iron. I was so afraid to wash it afterwards, thinking it was so heat damaged that it would just fall out. Hair was burned off from my scalp from sitting under a hot dryer for a long time. My hair smelled burned for several shampoo's, too; I couldn't get the smell out. She also used a lot of harsh pulling while blow drying instead of being gentle. The stylist also didn't do a good job trimming it, not taking care to cut the longer pieces even with the shorter ones even though I told her I wanted a trim all one length, straight across. I won't come here again. Or, if I do, it will be just for a trim and only from Sonia the owner. My hair and bald scalp are still recovering from the extreme heat damage. read more
