The salon is clean with friendly staff, and even a salon puppy! I've never seen an overload of customers waiting to see a stylist. To me that says they don't overbook and take their time with their customers. I can ask questions about hair products but not get a high pressure sales pitch like I have had in other salons. The service was fine while i was there. I showed clear photos (2) of the color i wanted--golden blond with darker roots for dimension. One was taken 5 months ago; the other was of Candace Bergen. i left with mousy brown hair that got orange the first time i washed it and WHITE highlights-in stripes--not a bit of gold. The owner told me she could add a toner, so i think she realized she had made a mistake. She later wrote me that i wasn't clear (i was perfectly clear, but instead of listening to me, she was going over invoices with a new staff member while working on my hair). So i wasted $200 on hair color that is totally different from what i asked for. I was told afterwards that the photo of Candace Bergen was old and our hair 'changes with age'. On my day off yesterday (8/24) and in preparation for date night with the hubs, I decided to schedule a haircut, deep conditioning, and style offer from groupon. The salon is tucked away in a somewhat remote location and in the back of a building of businesses. As the saying goes, "never judge a book by its cover." Initially when I arrived, I thought it was going to be outdated inside based on what it looked on the outside. It was just the opposite, very contemporary and chic. When I walked in I was warmly greeted by the receptionist and asked if I wanted something to drink. I was then brought back by my stylist, Kacie. I started off by asking for her recommendations on hair products and treatments for my coarse and frizzy hair. She was patient and thorough in offering me suggestions including some of her hair care regimen. Then I told her what kind of hair cut I wanted and I showed her a picture of a friend of mine who has long layers except I wanted more hair cut off. Kacie delivered. After I had gotten my hair cut and colored, I thought to myself - so, this is what it must feel like to be Jennifer Aniston. After my visit to Vivid, I was a combo of the Clairol girl meets Jennifer Aniston - as I shook my head, hair - it magically fell back in place. I even took selfies, which I never do! Walking in, my hair was a frizzy, misshapen, colorful (and not in a good way), mass on top of my head - that not only aged me, but made me look sad and tired. Sing the song with me, and then A long came Mary (actually Kacie), who made me feel like a goddess. I asked for a trim, color, highlights, no bangs and layers. The color and cut, perfecto. I've been looking for a new salon in the Columbia area and found this salon on Groupon. I bought the groupon and decided to test the waters and make an appointment. I got a trim and partial highlights. I have short brown hair cut into a bob and was going for like a cinnamon caramel highlight type of look. Kacie did an awesome job and knew just what I meant. I am very pleased with the final result and my new look Everyone at the salon was very friendly and attentive. Kacie also made me a coffee to replace the terrible matcha latte I tried for the first time that morning. I felt very relaxed throughout the whole experience. The advertised original price was $200 but when I called the salon, their normal pricing for full highlights is actually $97. The groupon was advertised at $79. Dara was my stylist. She listened to my requests for my hair, and I feel I got a friendly, welcoming, professional experience. The salon was very clean, and all of the staff was very professional and helpful. They were able to fit me in the same day. Only minus: I wish the deep conditioning treatment was longer. I've purchased Groupon's for other salons in the past with deep conditioning treatments where they leave you at the shampoo station for 15 minutes with the conditioner and a hot towel on your head. Now THAT is deep conditioning! Otherwise it's just a regular conditioner, so they shouldn't advertise deep conditioning as a part of the Groupon. read more

Vivid Salon & Spa is a hidden gem, I highly recommend it for haircuts and color! It is oddly placed in an office park, but don't worry, you are in the right place for a great new do! Once you walk inside you'll forget you're in an office park. It is a very classy salon, clean, and streamlined, and very big and roomy! Everyone is very welcoming and friendly here. They have makeup and products for sale up front and I believe they do facials, and nails in the back of the salon as well. I haven't tried any of these services yet though. So anyway about me, I am a brunette, I have always had long, thick hair, and am a color virgin. When I came into Vivid Salon, I was itching for a change and wanted to give ombre a try. Since I have never dyed my hair before I was super nervous, as you can imagine, but my hairstylist, Grace, was awesome and totally put me at ease! Grace helped me choose the right color and style and all the little dyeing details that I knew nothing about, so I left a lot of the decision making up to her! She talked me through the whole process and made me feel comfortable, even with the initial shock of seeing my hair SO blonde before the toner process! Haha! She assured me that was normal and it would be okay! After the color, trim, and blow out it looked absolutely amazing! Grace really knew what she was talking about I absolutely love it! I think it looks more natural than my natural hair now! I receive so many compliments and even though it has been a few months people still think I just got it done! A lady even stopped me walking down the street to ask what color my hair was.... I didn't know that people asked that kind of question! This is the only salon I will go to to get my blonde balayage- tierney specifically. I have been to two other salons that made my hair yellow and with tierney, I tell her what I want and she knows. I don't even need to show her pictures or anything. She's only 22 years old and has more talent than the majority of stylists I have been to. Aside from tierney, the salon in general is very clean and it's noticeable that they try very hard to uphold the spa feel. I have dark hair and I have had bad experiences where I highlight my hair and it's bleached out too much and it turns orange. I explained this to my hairstylist, and she still ended up over bleaching my hair and making the color wayyy too light. She charged me for a balayage when she really did a highlight. She assured me that if the color was too light after a few days, that I could come back to get a bit more toner put in for free. When I left the salon, I noticed my hair had an orange tone to it, so I went back in a few days later to get it darkened, and management said they'd have to charge me. After getting my hair "fixed", it is still a weird blonde/orange color against my black hair, and it looks AWFUL. I would not recommend this place. read more

I asked the hairdresser to dye my hair medium brown. I was shocked to see black hair. To correct this, I had to have three lifts to get to my color. My friends hated the way I looked. I was really looking forward to this place. I had made my appointment 2 weeks in advance on a Thursday afternoon. I found out about them through Groupon. I had purchased a balayage, style, haircut, and deep condition. I originally requested Tierney, but they told me she was unavailable so they put me with Grace. I get to the salon and was greeted by the front desk and I was pleased with her. I told her I was with Grace and she told me to sit by the window. Another lady had come in behind me and was also with Grace which threw me off. So I asked was there another Grace. There wasn't. This is already 15 minutes PAST my appointment time. Grace gives me a dirty look and says no. They then tell me my appointment is with Tierney. Ok I'm glad I got who I requested but isn't it common courtesy to let someone know before you move their appointment regardless of whom you requested. If you're told something I expect that thing to be so and valid. Otherwise that's a lie. Let me break this down because it's going to be a LONG review. Atmosphere : typical salon. Stations all around. When you walk in its nice but that smell of old hair chemicals hit you in the face like a full speed train knocking you on your ass. That should have been my first warning. The receptionist is nice but she hasn't been there long. Maybe 2 weeks. The fake louis vuitton bags in the middle of the salon look cheap and tawdry. Services rendered : I specifically requested and purchased the BALAYGE. NOT FOILS. We agreed to the color and right there she requests to redeem my groupon... ok... its not like im going to straight leave after my service. I planned on checking out since the purple color we agreed to was going to be an extra 15 dollars. Which apparently was in the fine print. I guess it was. I understand that you have to lighten my dark hair with bleach. But the color should not be a weird copper color.. Ok maybe I'll trust you since you're a trained professional. I've only been getting my hair done over 10 years and your couple years after hair school know better. After the she foils my hair she sits me in a corner for 10 mins while she works on someone else. I get that you have other customers but when that 10 minute timer goes off there should be a 1 to 2 minute grace period you get to your customer not 5 minutes. and yes I timed it. Finally she came over and checked my color, 10 more minutes with the heater. So damaging and were already nearing the 16 minutes that my hair is being bleached. 10 more minutes and of course she's late after the 10 minute timer. I'm getting a little pissed. She come back after 4 minutes and moves me to the hair washing station. She tells the receptionist to wash my hair. She starts to take off my foils and of course the phone RINGS. Hello. She's a receptionist. Not a shampoo girl. There was a shampoo girl who finished before the receptionist got back and paid me no mind... I've had bleaching agent in my hair for almost 30 minutes now. Im not going to make a scene in a salon. I still need this shit washed out of my hair. And it's a 30 minute drive to my house. Tierney is doing someone else's hair while I've been waiting. I get that you want to make some money but you can't ignore your customers. The receptionist finally comes back and washes my hair. Did I mention how uncomfortable the hair washing station is ? I sit up after my hair is washed and Tierney comes back and puts the toner in my hair. It's semi permanent and permanent hair color. It smells even worse than the first. Like old feet and chemicals. Tells me to lay down and relax. How the hell am I going to relax in an uncomfortable chair? So I sit up since the smell is nauseating. I was fanning myself trying to dissipate the smell. The owner comes by and tells her to check on me. I tell the receptionist I need a cap to help with the smell. She was more attentive than my actual hairdresser. She finally comes by and says it looks great ... you can tell with it all over my hair ? You must have xray vision. When the timer goes off she's late again. Do you see a trend ? She washes my hair and says she's going to feel condition it. I wait another 6 minutes. I've been sitting up since its so uncomfortable. I've been noticing EVERYTHING. The ceiling tiles that have a little water damage the funky art on the walls. And the BEST part how they talked behind the receptionists back about how she's not doing a good job. How there's hair color on the floor and hair ... HELLO it's a hair salon. There is always going to be hair. She was doing so many things to begin with. She takes me back to the station. It's already been 1 hour and 30 mins by this point. Overall my experience left me wishing I had never come in. I still tipped her and the recceptionist. Paid the extra 15 for the hair color. Update my hair color is faded. I've washed my hair 2 times. It's and ugly copper color now. read more

Had partial highlights and a haircut done by Kacie today. I asked for subtle highlights that wouldn't be obvious when it grows out, but she left the bleach in my hair way too long because she went to start highlights on someone else. I ended up with blonde streaks that had to be toned down with toner (I have black hair). But the longer you keep the bleach on, the more damage it does to your hair. My final color is this dull brown that I am not happy with. Also, she seemed to rush through my haircut as she had to get back to her other customer. Very disappointed. read more

I had to find a new salon after my previous salon decreased their availability and payment options. As a creature of habit I was nervous finding a new salon especially for both color and cut. I was looking for balayage and a haircut and I was assigned Tierney. My appointment started on time, and the front desk/staff were friendly. Tierney was super nice and I liked being able to hear her advice. My hair was already colored but it had a reddish tint I didn't want (I have Asian hair which tends to go that route) so I worked with Tierney talking about what color to go for. After the first round of lift, I realized the color was way more light than I wanted (the contrast between my natural hair and color was way too much and I wanted something more natural), so I spoke up and let Tierney know a little after she was blow-drying. She was glad I spoke up and we went back to the toning stage to make it darker. She was really accommodating and listened to my observations and the final color was what I wanted all along. Less red and a more ashy tone. I really appreciated the customer service here and if you speak up about what you want, you'll definitely get it here at this salon. Decent price too. I wasn't too worried when the stylist kept leaving mid-cut to check on another client, but I realize retrospectively that I should have been. I asked for bangs, and after several washes and blowouts, I have not been able to get them to lay right. One side is longer than the other in the front by about an inch, and the overall shape basically just looks like a triangle with random chunks cut into it. I wanted to like this haircut and I told myself it wasn't that bad, but a week later, I can't make any sense of it, no matter what I do to try to make it work. I'm a bit disappointed that I spent a decent amount of money on this cut, and I will now have to spend more money to get someone to fix it. read more

BLONDES - DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!! I initially went in for a trim and when I got there, requested a toner because my blonde was starting to look brassy. I spoke with the stylist who was going to apply the toner and she was very confident that she could achieve what I wanted. When I was placed in the chair after having the toner washed out, my hair was BROWN. All a toner is supposed to do it make your blonde hair blonder, not brown. I was mortified. I immediately scheduled an appointment with another salon but wasn't able to get in for about 3 weeks. i continued to wash my hair in hopes that the toner would wash out and my hair turned GREEN. Again, I initially went in for a cut and my cut was fine but I would stay away if you are a blonde. read more

She was very friendly and listened to my concerns. She did a good job on my hair and while it is not exactly how I wanted it I do like it. I would definitely have her style my hair again. For an update of this review I still have not heard from the salon. However, I would highly recommend Brittney at Zinas Salon and Spa in Canton. I went to her to fix the mess Tierney made of my hair. She also informed me that the lift that was put in my hair to get the blue out was most likely a bleach which is why my hair was super dry after Tierney lifted it. I was told it would not further damage my hair. Brittney devoted the better half of her afternoon to getting my color right without damaging my hair. Which included a deep condition in between my color. She was able to get my all over blonde with out the bronze and my hair felt great when I left. Also it was cheaper! I highly recommend Zinas over this place. read more

So I first visited Vivid and Grace with a groupon for a hair cut. I've bought a few groupons for various places before, and I always feel like the stylists and salons treat it differently. They seem to be quick, rush you out, and act as if you will never come back anyways. That being said, this is NOT the case with Vivid or Grace. The staff who answered the phone for my appt was courteous and helpful. Grace spent time asking what I wanted, and genuinely seemed to care. She did exactly what I wanted with my hair and was natural with conversation. Because of this, I returned today for all over color and another haircut. As before, Grace was awesome. She listened, offered suggestions, and did exactly what I asked. My hair is a nice darker shade and cut perfect. I'm definitely going to come back when it needs new color!! read more

After having a poor experience at a different salon, I had been in no rush to get my hair cut again until it was sufficiently grown out. But when it started reaching down almost to my hips, I knew it was time. So after a recommendation from a co-worker, I made an appointment with Grace. And what a relief! Grace was fantastic. We chatted throughout the process; she really listened to what I had to say and what I hated about my previous haircut. She made sure I was comfortable with what she was doing. And now my hair looks and feels great. The price was very reasonable, I was seen on time, it took only about 30 minutes and I was on my way. I'll be back to Vivid for my next haircut. read more

When I arrived, I was told I was in the system but no appointment, I was kept asked, when I called to make an appointment even though I showed confirmation text with date and time. I wasn't sure how, when I called was connected with my appointment not being found or getting me in. I waiting exactly 20 minutes before I was told by a receptionist that they don't know what happened and they would see me some other time. Creative genius! Tiernay has worked on my hair twice both times I went away loving my hair. I like edgy colors and cuts and she does not disappoint. The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They take their time, clearly has a well established clientele, and work towards making you feel heard, appreciated and satisfied. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere professional, yet comfortable. I am a people watcher and I saw many folks come and go, each clearly satisfied and happy with their service. Tierney was awesome! I found this salon on Groupon and I chose to check it out based on the price and reviews. I came in with dull, dead hair that needed a change. She asked me what I wanted and after showing her multiple pictures of different styles I liked she knew exactly what she wanted to do with me. She took her time every step of the way from the foiling, to the toner, to the deep conditioning treatment and continually made sure I was comfortable. By the time I left my hair went from a dull yellow to a bright white blonde like I wanted and my hair feels softer and healthier than it has in years!
