Stopped by Latin World to satisfy a bit of a Latin food craving and ended up here after checking out the quirky interior and laid-back vibe. Since I already had a pretty heavy meal earlier in the day, I decided to keep it light. Went with the Nopal Taco (the one with grilled cactus) and A La Mexicana, which is a shrimp dish cooked in salsa ranchera, served with rice and salad. Paired that with Inca Kola, which apparently tastes just like cream soda. To be honest, for a Saturday evening with nearly empty house and all that casual chaos, I didn't expect too much. But in a weird way, I actually enjoy that slightly offbeat, mismatched energy you often get at Latin spots. There's always something a little awkward going on, and I don't know why, but I kind of love that. Sure, the taco shell could've been better, and the server wasn't exactly on point with the drink availability. Could've also explained the dishes a bit more instead of just saying "I don't know", but hey, the food itself hit the spot. Would've liked a bit more kick in the seasoning, but at least the server was open to adjusting and didn't miss a thing once asked. Bonus point goes to the heart-shaped rice. No idea why that detail stuck with me, but it did. All in all, it's one of those places that might not check every box perfectly, but something about it makes you want to come back.

    Amazing Beef Chimichanga

Latin World is hands down one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. The $1 taco specials on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, (and I think Friday too) are such great value for absolutely delicious food. Honourable mention to the Beef Chimichanga that almost brought me to tears the first time I tried it. Food aside, the staff are always very nice and service is quick. They also let you purchase their homemade salsas if you ask. I always make a point to stop by whenever I'm in the area and I suggest everybody else to do the same. I love you Latin World!

This is an amazing small restaurant in grocery store. I can't wait to visit the other locations after being greeted by the very friendly server we were informed at the restaurant was out of Carnitas tacos and instead they were serving chorizo. I was happy to order chorizo tacos for a dollar each and was extremely impressed by the free salt, collection, faster, free chips and honestly incredible flavour and quality of meat in these tacos. I can't wait to come back and try the other location and other daily specials.

I visited this restaurant last weekend with my fiancé. We were a bit confused at first because we saw that there were 2 Latin World restaurants right across from one another. However, the other was more of a small Mexican grocer with a few tables for a quick bite. We decided to go to the larger restaurant location since it was a larger space and had more comfortable seating. The restaurant was very colourful and lively, with Mexican music in the background. They also sold various gifts and souvenirs from Mexico. We each ordered one shrimp taco and one fish taco. They were served with traditional corn tortillas with onions, cilantro, and pico de gallo. Very authentic, and tasted just like the tacos you would get in Mexico. Both tasted great, but I preferred the fish taco. My only complaint was that there was very little protein. For almost $6 a taco, I would've expected more than 2 shrimps per taco...

Okay so let me preface this all by saying...im a chilli wuss, but I love flavour and will take the pain for the flavour. So ordered Chilequiles, one of my favourite comfort dishes, the portion was HUGE, and flavour definitely NOT mild...but it was quite delicious. Usually chilequiles are with chips and they absorb the sauce, their version was very wet so keep that in mind. I dont mind but I definitely would have preferred wore texture. The Tamale was drowned in cotija which was a bit of a bummer as i wanted to taste tje lamb barbacoa ($2 extra). Maybe im used to my tamales just more moist and flavour forward but this was all salt and chili so wont order again. Have had tamales all over Mexico and parts of latin america, this is not their strength. The Guacamole was DELICIOUS...seriously great batch with strong lime and nice sized chips. I think worth another try but maybe in person next time to gove it a fair shake!

Walking past this restaurant, we noticed a sign that said $1 tacos, so we thought why not check them out!? We went in and were told we could sit anywhere we liked, so we grabbed a table outside. The menu is only available by scanning the QR code (which we didn't notice) and details of the taco special were on the last page. It turns out there's a minimum of 20 tacos per person, which made zero sense to me. No way I'm eating 20 tacos! It was a beautiful sunny day and I was craving a beer, but they are not licensed so I stuck with water. Anyway, now that I'm craving tacos, I definitely have to order some! The regular price for one taco is almost $6 - which seemed high but I had to try them. We were starting to get super hungry and decided to order a bunch of things to share, starting with some ceviche and guacamole. The ceviche was very watery and almost warm, as though they cooked the seafood first, then dumped it in the sauce. Definitely not what I was expecting and I would not order that again. The guacamole was quite good - probably the best thing we ordered, actually. I liked that the chips are made in house (or at least appear to be). We were also given an order of chips and salsa, as well as a little dish of what looked like chili oil, which was way too spicy for me. The green salsa, on the other hand, was delicious! I could eat that every day. Next, we had a chorizo quesadilla, which arrived covered in lettuce and crumbled cheese - again, not what I was expecting, but it wasn't too bad. It was similar to a calzone, with a thick dough instead of a tortilla. Next up was a burrito and the tacos. I actually didn't try the burrito, but my friend said it was good. The tacos were really disappointing, unfortunately. We ordered the grilled shrimp, the pastor and baja fish. The shrimp was ok, but the pork was incredibly dry and crumbly. As for the baja fish taco, they forgot to finish it as it was garnished with just a single radish slice instead of the pico de gallo and salsa ranchero. I could add a disclaimer that I cannot speak to the authenticity of the food in any way, I can only comment on what I enjoy eating and how much I liked the food. Service was fine but there was only one server for the whole patio, so it was a bit slow. No other complaints from us regarding service. I don't think I'd go out of my way to go back here anytime soon, but if I was in the area, I might try something else on the menu.

This is the location across the street* The food was really good, they start by giving you some chips (looks like it's homemade) while you look at the menu/wait for your order. I really want to go back again to try their 1$ tacos. The only thing about this place is maybe the service is a little slow but everyone is really nice and friendly.

Authentic, Latin-Owned restaurant with fantastic tacos and tortas. Chorizo tortas are generous, flavorful, and delicious. This is one of the few authentic Mexican restaurants in Toronto, and by far my favorite. 1$ tacos Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at their store location across the street. Dine-in gets homemade chips and salsa! A Bloor West establishment.

Yo if you want to teleport to Mexico, this is your shop. This place is jam-packed with almost every Mexican grocery product you could want, plus they cook hot authentic Mexican food in the back for you. You have every snacky snack you want from chips to candy to cookies. They also have lots of spices, and bottled and canned products along with some fresh produce. I totally recommend this shop.

Great food and very decently priced. Nice clean and simple ambience. Only one server but our food wasn't delayed by any manner.

You know that moment when you're really craving something, and when you finally get it and it's awful? that's basically what my experience was at Latin World. I ordered 4 tacos (2 pastor & 2 carnitas) - $12 Walking home, I noticed that my container was awfully light, but was still optimistic. As soon as I arrived home, I opened the container and there they were, 4 tacos that looked dilapidated in every kind of way. I should mention, I walked home, so the takeout container was stable. It basically looked like someone microwaved some meat, threw it on a pita, and there it was. The taste wasn't great, pita broke and it wasn't filling at all. This is probably the worst taco spot I've been to. I'd like my $12 back, please.

This would be dining as if someone had opened up their home to you. Quirky interior deco, but love how partially is a grocery store. Food is amazing and they have daily specials. You can buy mostly mexican or south american tid bits, snacks, foodstuff and drinks. Churros is about of a wait, but at least they make it fresh!

Parking was a challenge, but there is a Green P that is about 5-8 minutes away that isn't too bad if the weather is good. The atmosphere is quite intimate and I did find myself bumping into other people / staff when going to and from the washroom, etc. The food was pretty good - the tacos were full of flavour and I got to try a variety by sharing with the group. I think my favourite was the beef barbacoa. The prices are definitely a bit up there for a Mexican restaurant, I believe the tacos were around $7 each. The quality made it worth it, but there's definitely other places in Toronto that serve up a great taco for nearly half the price. We also tried a couple of appetizers, including the nachos, guac and ceviche. The nachos were something special - it was a bit of a nacho pizza. I didn't expect that from Playa Cabana, given everything else was very authentic. The taste was good, but it was a bit of a challenge to share! The highlight of the night was definitely the desserts - we ordered the tres leches cake, and the churros. Definitely the best churro I've ever had.

We got lucky and they were able to squeeze us into seats at the bar area, which ended up being the best possible spot because we had a front-row view of the live fire cooking the entire night. The ambiance was lively and hip, with a great energy that made the whole experience feel exciting. This was my first time watching each main courses get cooked over live fire in real time, which added to our amazement given that all the dishes came out cooked to the right doneness. Every bite of meat and seafood was perfectly kissed with flame -- the char, the subtle smoke, the texture. Beyond the fire element, you can really taste how fresh everything is. Nothing felt heavy or muddled. Each dish was well thought out with balanced flavors, but the ingredients and that fire/smoke magic were always the main event. Service was also superb. All the staff were attentive and high-energy. Different servers checked up on us throughout the meal, our water was always kept full, and dishes were cleared in a timely manner. Only drawback: the heat. Sitting by the fire is incredible for the show, but it definitely started to feel like a sauna at times. Still, I'd do it again and choose to sit at the bar without hesitation. If you're in Toronto and you love a tasting menu, this is a must. Just make sure you book at least a month in advance - it's popular for a reason.

Their tacos are on point, and with so many to choose from I can go back multiple times can never get bored. Each of their tacos has something different to offer and each has relatively good balance to them. The balance of freshness and savory (and sometimes sweet) toppings is well done, making me come back for more. The one item that pushes La Carnita over the top is their nachos!
