So so. Went here after a bad long day! Heard their fish tacos was great however I will review on what I had. Fries with guac. Veggie tacos and veggie tostado. So so! Not the best. Beer was good.

We got take away tacos from here the other day. The meat and sauce were really yummy! I LOVED the decor. It would be really fun to visit after covid and have some margaritas there. The tortillas tasted homemade and I was really impressed with the flavour. I would love more options to put on the tacos. It comes with a pico de gallo but it's mainly raw onions so I don't love it. It would be great to have salsa and sour cream or something but maybe that's just an American thing. I'll be going back for sure their the Baja fish tacos! They are small but yummy!

I thought this place was a hidden gem but apparently pretty well known to bunch of my Instagram friends! My husband and I ordered plantains, grilled fish tacos, steak tacos, burrito, ceviche (it was amazing!!) and a sangria- all was perfect and we paid under CAD$70 including gratuity. Everything we had was simple but flavorful, nothing was overdone. Service was friendly- our server even told us be used to be a regular at the restaurant and asked for a job there because he loved the food so much. How cute is that?! We will definitely come back!

Came here for dinner to try their Birria tacos. It wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. Decor was nice and festive. We ordered the Birria, fish, calamari and pulled pork tacos. My fave were definitely the fish.. so flavorful and nicely breaded. May come back to try other things. They have daily specials which is nice!

Carne Asada and Al pastor tacos

Overall it was a good experience, I was a huge fan of the al pastor and the birria tacos as well! They were flavourful and each bite was sensational The only thing that I had that I wasn't fond of was the carne asada, everything else was good and I well plated. My sister enjoyed the churros and horchata as well! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to take a deeper dive into Mexican cuisine, cause we all know Taco Bell doesn't count

Wanted to give this spot a 5 star but ... long wait times and food was cooler upon delivery. Outside of that though ... love Mexitaco for a very authentic, fresh feel for Mexican cuisine. Our go-tos always are the shrimp ceviche tostada + guac and chips. By far our favs. A la carte, great for sharing and as I mentioned above ... always fresh.

Dropped by on a Friday night as a added bonus there was live music that night great music be it loud for a smallish place but good vibes none the less the service was great we had amazing tacos, maxican fries, flautas de pollo and burrito all the food was amazing and to finish off with Churros that came with 2 dipping sauce caramel and chocolate it finished of a great mexican meal. Definitely recommend this place and will be back for great Mexican food

I wanted to try birria tacos for a while wheni saw the video on food insider it looked amazing then I found this place, 4 tacos with consume excellent customer service it's a little pricey but the tacos were so flavourful, especially with the hot sauce if you out in consume and dipped the taco in the consume , it melts in your mouth and with the cheese oh my god, I definitely believe the hype on birria tacos, I didn't realize this place has been here since 2001, and now I found out about it better late than never overall phenomenal taco and excellent customer service

Plantain, chicken quesadilla, rice side, beef tacos , beef burrito

A few points: We got: -grilled fish tacos -bean/cheese quesadilla -chicken quesadilla -beef tacos -beef burrito -fried plantain -churro -4 beers/$10 Sunday deal 3 stars because the portions are on the small side for what you pay. One hungry person will need at least two orders of tacos plus a side to fill them up. Service was ok but seemed a bit disinterested. The churro was very very good. I recommend for desert. That was probably the dish that stood out the most. The venue itself is nicely designed and a cool hangout spot. I'm happy to have a place like this in the neighbourhood especially because there are not a ton of sit down Mexican restaurants in the east end. They definitely fill a niche. Food is fine but nothing to write home about. Worth a try but it won't knock you off your feet. You will be annoyed by the lack of parking but not much one can do about that.

I'm happy restaurants are trying with COVID, at the same time I wonder if the quality is suffering. My order was prepared within 15 minutes which is great. I ordered the tacos, nachos and churros and a burrito, I was not alone lol the inside was very Mexican and on a bus tiling busy street you wouldn't think that. Let's start with dessert. The churros had a great crunch and it was almost perfect, however the centre was very doughy - almost raw. I have had churros that are really light and it kinda melts. The caramel sauce was really good. The tacos were a bit of a slap in the face. I've had tacos everywhere and I make tacos. I got 2 very tiny tacos with a little bit of beef and it was very very unsatisfying. I can't believe I was served those tacos from a mexican restaurant. The nachos were pretty good. Fried chips, sour cream, pico de gallo, jalapeños, cheese and Guac.... for a Mexican restaurant, that Guac was pretty embarrassing. It looked like baby poop but anyways, nachos were tasty. I would give this place another chance, maybe it's a covid thing, maybe they were understaffed, we'll see... Keep Eating, Angela

Tacos! Shrimp and baha fish tacos

It's hard to find good quality Mexican food in Toronto. It's even harder to find a place that isn't downtown. Well thankfully a good friend mentioned this place had moved and was now in the east end. Blink and you might miss it but it's on the corner of Victoria Park and St Clair (right across the No Frills). It's small inside but they pack in a lot of tables. Went on a Friday night and the place was jumping jumping. As the night wore on it just got busier (apparently around 8-9pm there is a show Friday nights). We were finished eating by that time and stayed a bit to see if started but we ended up leaving as we didn't want to hog the table when others needed it. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered the beer battered shrimp tacos and the baha fish tacos (you get 2 of each). They were delicious. No greasy, not bland, just delicious. The owners/staff are from what I have heard are Mexican. So they know what they are cooking. The atmosphere is lively, the service is friendly and the food is GREAT. I will definitely add this as one of my regular rotations of deliciousness

    Tinga tacos
    Talha T.

The food and aesthetics were amazing and appealing. We ordered the nachos, tinga tacos and the chicken machete. We also ordered the Horchata and Jamaican drinks. The tacos were decently priced, just wished they were larger in quantity. Overall, a great experience.

Sorry for your loss Bloorcourt Village but Mexitaco now belongs to us East Yorkers and Scarberians *evil laugh* Hubby and I caught them during their soft opening; so they're still finishing their decor and feeling out the neighborhood. I really appreciate that their platters are two tacos each which was more budget friendly for us while giving us more flexibility in ordering other menu items. Our favorites were the fish cerviche tostada (fresh and flavorful), tinga (deliciously smoky and spicy) and deep fried ice cream (delightful flavors and textures). Tortillas are not made in house but are made fresh and delivered daily. The owners and cooks are all from Mexico City. Family run: dad is head chef, mom is hostess and waits tables, and their son is the bartender. If you want to know anything about Mexican culture ask the cool bartender, Alex, who also happens to be a fellow Yelper! We had an engaging talk about the biopic Selena (played brilliantly by Jennifer Lopez), Lucha Libre wrestling, the origins of chocolate and vanilla, all the while listening to lively Cumbia music. This is the closest you'll ever get to the authentic flavors and feel of Mexico City in Toronto my friends. Make a run for the border!

Sometimes you walk into a place and you instantly fall in love…read more Lonely Diner is just such a place. It's got this '70s rec-room basement vibe that I personally find completely irresistible. If I had a house, I'd want at least one room that looks exactly like what Lonely Diner's got going on. And fortunately, the drinks and food live up to the incredible atmosphere. I started out with the Haw Yeah ("Rum blend, amaro meletti, pernod, hawflakes, high octane black sugar falernum, mulberry grenadine, lime"), which is a delicious spin on a typical tiki drink. I've ordered it twice now, and it's satisfied me completely on both occasions. Another favorite for me is the Lucky Numb-er 8 ("Gin, pomello & lemongrass gentian, cocchi americano, dry vermouth, sichuan peppercorn tincture"), which is their spin on a white Negroni. It's so damn good. It's packed with flavor and definitely reminds me of a Negroni, but like better than any Negroni I've ever had. If that wasn't impressive enough, the food is terrific too. I tried one of their specials, the Wasabi Fried Chicken Sandwich ("Sichuan peppercorn battered fried chicken with a wasabi spiced caesar dressing and anchovies on a brioche bun"), on my latest visit and it's so, so good. The perfectly cooked and impressively juicy chicken is accompanied by an incredibly flavorful assortment of accouterments. I inhaled it, pretty much. The servers at Lonely Diner are super friendly and helpful, too. I love Lonely Diner. I hope it sticks around for a long, long time.

Each dish has elevated twist, and the price is so reasonable and even generous for the quality. Cocktails are excellent (lots of line-ups). They also serve nice choices of local craft beers on tap. We ordered: (Food) #Cast Iron Baked Brie fresh baked brie with house-made wild berry compote, candied pecans, prosciutto, garlic crostini $17 : This served as perfect appetizer for 3 of us. Enjoyable. Variety of ways to enjoy the baked brie. #Canadian Striploin 7oz striploin, garlic herb mashed potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables: We tried different & great steak dish here before, and this one is also EXCELLENT - the on-point seasonings, perfectly med-rare. Roasted veggies and mashed potato leave its own flavour and texture with right amount of seasonings. #Stuffed Mushroom Ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms, tossed in a beurre blanc sauce, topped with fresh Parmesan: I wished the ravioli itself had more mushroom-forward flavor, and the wrapper had more delicacy (in terms of thickness and texture). However, I loved the beurre Blanc sauce - it was foamy - making the butter-ly and creamy sauce feel light in the mouth. Nice hint of tangy-ness. #Herb Crusted Salmonwith garlic herb mashed potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables, and beurre blanc sauce: The same sauce as ravioli, that matched with salmon well. (Cocktails) #Fig Fizz: With Durham distillery Gin, Raspberry Liqueur, fig jam, lemon juice, honey syrup, soda # Lavender cosmopolitan # Passion Prosecco Martini # Spicy Hibiscus Margarita All the cocktails were presented beautifully. Today's highlight was Spicy Hibiscus Margarita. (Dessert) Chocolate Espresso Martini Cake rich vanilla cake, mascarpone, house-made chocolate espresso mousse $10: Essentially, tiramisu. lol. Nicely presented. This place is versatile for us. Just for snack, just for cocktails, just for local beer, and elevated food experiences. Promising satisfying experience in each occasion. So blessed to have this place in my neighbourhood.
