I'll be honest -- my husband and I were very weary about booking with Latin Escapes, but we had our heart set on seeing Brazil this year. They had the best deal we could find. We researched everywhere and found a few reviews here and there, but not quite enough reviews to make us feel very comfortable to book. Let's just say their website needs an upgrade. It's such a shame you don't see more about them because, well, we are SO glad we booked with them! I booked my travel with Karen, and she was on point! She responded to all of my emails within 24 hours and was so easy to reach if I needed to call for anything. She calmed my nerves and gave me every detail I needed. Sometimes, I'd send an email and then she'd call me a few hours later. I almost felt like it was too good to be true! In case you're wondering, they arrange pretty much everything for you -- flights, transfers, & tours. We got details for our flight, and when we arrived in Brazil, the guy who picked us up at the airport gave us all the vouchers to our tours and transfers with pick-up times and phone numbers to call if we were concerned. Super easy. They pretty much work together with other tour companies in Brazil so you'll be seeing different companies while you're there. It's definitely not your usual route for travel, but it was definitely safe and secure. Best of all, we got to see Rio de Janeiro and Foz de Iguacu worry free!! Thank you, Latin Escapes! I booked a trip to Costa Rica with my kids and it's been a magical experience for all of us. From the excellent treatment we have received from Latin Escapes, Karla and staff to our hotel in La Fortuna, Arenal Springs. We went on a very expensive vacation with Latin Escapes.com to central america for 10 days. The weather in the country was unseasonably rainy with storms the entire time that we were there. We were constantly wet and none of the clothes would dry. As a result both my wife and I got sick. We couldn't go out in most locations or do any activities because the rain was so heavy. In one location we started on a cave tour which had to be cancel midway through due to high waters from the rain. Half way through the trip we reached a location where we had one partial day of sunshine. We saw that the last leg of the tour had weather forecasts that were even worse than where we had already stayed. We decided we wanted to stay where we were because it was sunny for at least part of the day. We called the in-country travel agent and asked if there would be a penalty if we cancelled a canopy tour and hotel scheduled for a few days in exchange for staying where we were. The tour company said it was far enough in advance that it shouldn't be a problem as long as we paid the difference in the cost of the current hotel and the proposed one. The concierge coordinated with the local travel agent to rebook our travel plans. We were told by the local agent that we would receive money back for the canopy tour, the hotel and possibly the transportation. All we would need to do was send an email to latinescapes customer service when we returned and we would received a refund. We stayed at the location and unfortunately it rained for the last few days but we made the best of it. When we returned home we wrote to latinescapes customer service and didn't receive a response for some time. We sent several follow-up emails to a woman named Maria. She finally directed us to a woman named Karla. Karla assured us she would do everything to help us because she wanted us to travel with them again. I would Karla and leave her a message and she would never call me back. I called several more times until I got her on the phone and she continued to assure me that she would do something for us. I would email Karla every few weeks to get a status for 4 months. She told us finally that she could get us a refund for the hotel ($100.00) and possibly for the canopy tour ($150.00), but not for transportation. After several more weeks Karla promised we would at least get a refund for the hotel but that was all. This was confusing because we had cancelled the canopy tour even further in advance of the hotel. Karla then assured us on at least two occasions that we would get a refund for at least the hotel and that it was on its way. She kept assuring us that she had reached out to accounting and it was only a matter time. It is now 8 months later and we haven't received anything. So after 8 months, 20 emails and 10 phone calls Latinescapes wasted at least $250.00 just responding to our claim. This was a $4K vacation and they couldn't give us back us back even a portion of the trip even though it was a miserable vacation and we had better weather at home. I recognize that margins in the travel business are low but had they even given us back part of it back we would have booked another trip through them. At this point I hope you will reconsider booking with Latinescapes because they will not make good on their promises. They will lie to you and they waste your time because they think you will just give us. They have terrible customer service. read more

Had some disappointing experiences while on our trip, and latin escapes did nothing to rectify their mistakes. They continually put off responding to our concerns and did not do anything to compensate us for their lack in proper services rendered. I do not recommend using this company. read more

We went to Equador and to the Galápagos Islands on a boat tour. They also arranged a stopover in Costs Rica for us. It was the best tour ever. My husband and I went to Brazil in 2013 and thanks to AL at Latinescapes, we had a wonderful trip. He organised everything for us from the airport pickups to hotel booking and we were thrilled with our trip. We went to the Amazon Eco Lodge in Manaus (quite an experience in the forest) and then flew to the Iguasso Falls which was breathtaking. All in all, our trip was super. We will be using Latinescapes again for any of our trips to South America and I will definitely be working with AL to book our next trip. He always returned calls and answered all our quetions and queries. Infact he planned our itinerary and helped us decide what to see and was most helpful. My wife and I have traveled the world over the years and have never experienced incompetence with any of the travel agencies with have worked with until now. We are currently on our second day of our Galápagos Islands trip and every step of the way we have had to face discrepancies with what we paid for and listed in our itinerary. We booked our trip six months ago and still had the agency book our trip under 2 separate bookings: One under myself with 2 travelers (my wife and our 18 year old daughter) and a second booking just under our younger 16 year daughter. We don't know why, but it created double paper work to bring with us and then have each entity verify both bookings wherever we went. They even booked our airline tickets with all four of us seated separately! All this was before we even started on our trip. When we arrived in Quito, Ecuador the representative of the local tour company handed us our most current itinerary and it was in Spanish. The rep even commented that the travel agency should have given us an English copy. Then we found out that our vouchers assigned for hotel/tours failed to be accurate when we reached our destinations. We had paid for 2 bedrooms for 4 people which was printed on our vouchers but when we checked into our hotel, they said the company only booked one room with 1 bed. The hotel told us that LatinEscapes.com has done this to other guests as well; where they collect money from us and then book for less than what we pay for. Extremely disappointed and pray that the remaining part of our trip finishes with less confusion and some satisfaction to say the least. We will avoid LatinEscapes.com in the future!!! read more

We have been on three trips with Latinescapes.com. They were great. Two to Costa Rica for great river rafting plus a beach stay on the Caribbean. Al, our rep at Latin Escapes has helped with all three of our trips and he has been great. One of our trips to Costa Rica involved 15 friends. The price and hotels were great and my wife and I were married at the river lodge during the trip. I can hardly imagine a better venue. Everyone had a great time. Our accommodations have always been nice and three trips have been remarkably well priced. We also took a trip to South America with stops in four countries. We had a terrific hotel in Rio a block from Copacabana Beach and excellent accommodations elsewhere. Transportation was great to and from airports. We extended the trip to 4 weeks and Al altered all the flights to make it work. I would never hesitate to book with Latinescapes.com again, and have recommended them to many friends and clients. read more
