Do you enjoy laughing? I do. I'm not sure if a lot of the other Yelps who reviewed Laugh Factory Chicago enjoy laughing as much as I do, but I think this place deserves five stars. I went to the Laugh Factory recently to celebrate my two-year wedding anniversary with my husband, and we had a great time. We went for an 8 o'clock show on a Saturday night, and the place was pretty packed. We were seated toward the front since we arrived early, and I was happy with our view of the stage. We heard four comedians perform, one of which was Jacob Williams from "America's Got Talent." All four were really funny, and my husband and I were in stitches for 85% of the show. The other 15% was spent drinking. The drinks are a little pricy. My Ketel and cranberry cost $10 each, but they were pretty stiff, so it's OK. They also serve food, but we stuck with booze the whole night. Our server was really good. She had a lot of tables to cover and was running around taking care of everyone for the entire show, but she did a really good job of keeping our drinks replenished. Overall it was a really fun night and a great way to spend our anniversary. We will definitely be back! read more

Went here to see a specific comic that was scheduled for the lineup that evening, and he ended up not performing, which no one announced. Wish they would've said something so we didn't have to sit through the other comedians, ranging from ok to horrible. Hardly laughed at all. Not sure if it was just a rare bad lineup, or if this is the usual. Couldn't stand Emily Galati, who closed the evening, so that really ended the already average experience on a bad note. Had good service from the waitstaff, no complaints there. They were giving out free tickets, so we may try again to see if there's better comics on a different night. But wondering if they need to give out free tickets because no one wants to pay money to come back? If it's your first time, save some money and get a Groupon so you're not as disappointed if it blows. read more

Eh, my feelings are mixed. The setting was cool. The admission was pretty cheap, and it's long so it's a good idea for date nights or if you're looking to do something different. They have a two drink minimum PER PERSON. If we're in a group and everyone else orders drinks and like me for example, didn't want a drink at all, then I shouldn't have to order one, nonetheless, two. So that was kind of annoying. The comedians weren't really that funny. Maybe one or two out of the 5-6 that night. We saw the nasty show and while some things were funny, other things were kind of obnoxious. You know when a joke is already old, and a person keeps dragging that joke? Kind of like that. It's a given if you sit in the front rows you will probably be picked on as the comedian's joke but I felt they constantly kept picking on specific people to the point where people got up and left. The comedian was trying to get people chant "fuck you (persons name)" as they walked out. I'm open to different types of comedy but it was becoming awkward to the point where audience members didn't know whether to laugh or stay quiet. It angered the couple so much that the guy tried running back in to confront the comedian during his act. It's cool if you use someone as your joke for a few minutes but for the whole two hours on and off, it's kind of like alright that's enough. And I don't think you have to cuss them out and disrespect them like that to be funny. I don't blame the couples for leaving. Would I go again? I'm not sure. Maybe. read more

Three were pretty good, the other three sucked (especially the one they brought "all the way from LA"-talk about a build-me-up-just-to-let-me-down). The MC was wonderful. The tickets were complimentary, but there is a two drink minimum. Something to keep in mind. The server was excellent. I don't know how she kept all of the orders in her head. Luckily, the drinks were not too expensive. Most of the comedians were really funny. I went to the 7:30pm on Tuesday, November 7. The host was funny and played off of the audience well. She didn't curse too much, but she did resort to racial jokes when trying to arouse the crowd and when intimidated by some of the audience members. I'm sure their Friday/Saturday night shows are better but the one I went to was just OK. Typical 2-drink minimum, which is fine, especially considering the fact that we got free tickets to see the Sunday night show Chigaygo which is actually ending soon (I think this weekend). Wowee! Going to the Laugh Factory was so much fun! It was hilarious! I also thought the customer service was awesome, the redheaded kid in the box office was so charming and charismatic​. Wowee! Went for "singles only" last week while in town. Paul the host of the show was good. Really good. Natalie Jose was on point, hilariously and just the perfect pinch of bitter to be a riot. Never a downer. Well played. The never a downer part doesn't apply to some of the other comedians but I couldn't do what they do so... The guy who does the uber bit. That guy was funny as hell. How lame I never caught his name. I suck. Felonious Monk was super funny. And hopefully his message will transmit to men everywhere. :) On the club: A) if you're going to have VIP tickets make them mean something. I was being self indulgent by getting them and then it was absolutely 100% no different. Except this: B) VIP lounge upstairs? I felt like I was the uninvited guest to a green room. Cool? Not so much, it wasn't intended to be that way just no one, and I mean no paying guests use this space, so it's where the comics go to air their opinions of the crowd. I agreed so mostly it was funny. Sad, dark but funny. No service staff what so ever came up. A few sets in and I relocated to tables downstairs. C) absofreakinglutely have a drink minimum. Just please, for the love of all that holy, have some decent offerings. Blipsters on Broadway was funny beginning to end- I definitely giggled til I cried a bit. Stop complaining about the two drink minimum everyone- I was expecting to see the outrage of the teetotalers bc a diet coke must be $8 to warrant such disdain.... But you can get your minimum in easily for $6 (2 $3 sodas or bottled water). Is that really breaking the bank? Wish the booze selection was better as I'd be more likely to spend more on a decent bottle of wine than trust one if the fluoro green "cocktails" doused in whipped cream... But back to the main (five star) event! Felonious Munk was a great host and every one of his five guests brought something rad, local, silly & full-on comedy realness to the stage. I'll be back for sure. Also- shout out to the DJ who kept the party atmosphere between sets & love that they feature local musical talent at the end of the set. UP FRONT: Awesome place! The tickets weren't as expensive as some other options. Had a great time here with my wife on a date night in the city. The comedians were all very funny from opening act to the main attraction. As with all venues for comedy you have to check out who is performing, because not everyone has the same sense of humor and some comics appeal to more to some than others. With that being said...these guys/gals had everybody BELCHING laughing. RECOMMENDED: Definitely recommend it... I would also return here on a future trip to Chicago. Very cool place, clean, and their set-up give you a perfect seat in the audience regardless of how close you are. USEFUL TIP: We purchased the tickets online and paid a few bucks extra for the VIP and it was SO worth it! You basically don't wait in line, you go right in, and the hostess seats you in the best location because it's empty. It was well worth it and if I remember correctly it was about $10 extra if that. The line (especially for the 10pm show) wrapped around the corner and it was freezing cold. RESEARCH: If you're traveling to Chicago I suggest you research the top five comedy venues in town at least two weeks in advance to see what's a better show. It was our First time in Chicago and we spent hours on trip advisor, Yelp, and many other sites trying to find the best (stand-up) comedy venue (and other attractions and things to do) in Chicago. read more

Took three of my 20 something visiting nieces and nephews to see "The Nasty Show". and..it more than delivered on the crude, lewd nastiness we were promised. No body part, girlfriend, boyfriend, relationship was spared as the half dozen or so comedians unleashed their "nasty stuff" on us. Not all of the comedians are super nasty, but, those who are more than make up for the mellower few, v who are also quite funny with their own schtick. Numerous members of the audience took copious amounts of "nasty abuse" for our entertainment value, but hey, that's what we, and the two drink minimum, are there for! Nice interior space with night club seating. Reasonably priced tickets and drinks make it relatively affordable. read more

It's def a place to check out. Get there early so you don't have to sit in the balcony because you can't see anything unless you are in the row facing the stage. However, if you get there too early then you'll end up waiting in line for an hour. Inexpensive and I've always had a good laugh or two there. read more

Solid place for laughs when you need a brand name but you can get a factories worth of laughs plenty other places around the city. And for less. I'm not knocking the factory because I've been a few times for both regular shows and special events. There's always a two drink minimum which is standard but the drinks are shit and pretty pricy. And I'm cool with $7/ beer if they actually had a good selection. The most regular cocktail they have is Jameson and ginger ranging to something that's very blue. And I learned at a younger age to stay away from a blue drink plus I'm a man. Enough of the knocks though. The theater itself is spacious compared to other comedy joints I've been to. It's a little old looking but whatever. I will big up the servers because they deliver a ton of drinks on one tray...Tip'em please. I would stick to special events for coming here. We're talking $40 for a pair of tickets, $100 for 6 cocktails for 2 people, and the hassle of Broadway street parking plus paying for street parking. But there's always the laughs right. Sarcasm Idk. Honestly I've always had a decent time here. I even get a laugh on the way out when the host tells ppl that if on the way out if they write a funny Yelp review they'll give you two free tickets. I'm doing this review in 2 parts- the comedy & the management. COMEDY: This place is definitely underrated for its quality of comedians, I have come here multiple times and have never left without having at least a few good laughs. Sometimes it's hit or miss with what you relate to as being funny. If you come for a stand up show (which that's what I've seen everytime, there will be around 6-7 performers take the stage. Some will be funnier than others.) Megan, one of the stand up comedians I've seen a few times is HILARIOUS and is my favorite one. I think she's moved on to New York city now, it's really too bad because there need to be more women comics! I give these people that do this a TON of credit, there is no way I could go up there and attempt to make a whole room laugh. It's hard. MANAGEMENT: The atmosphere of the place is good, there is a 2 drink minimum which means you're spending more $$$ on alcohol. They have some really good cocktail drinks though. Some of the waitresses seem really overworked though and there was a time when we were literally the last people that left the place because we were waiting 15 minutes to get a bill. Imagine seeing over 50 people get their bills before you do, that was annoying, I did not leave a good tip that time. They need to hire more waitresses. The other thing that they need to do is to make sure that the shows start on time. Back in January when it was absolutely freezing, I took some family members to the 10pm show and were told to be there at 9:45, which we were. The show didn't end up starting until 10:30 which meant we were outside in 0-10 degree temperatures for 45 minutes. I almost wanted to get my money back. I have no idea why they wouldn't let more people in as we were waiting a good 15 minutes outside after people had left from the show before. I think they need to time the start times of the shows better. In summary, the comedians are great but the management of this place needs to get better. read more

Went to a 9:15pm show on September 11th. The show didn't start until well after 9:30pm so no need to get there on time. Our server was clearly busy and didn't take our order until the second comic was on stage. When we finally got our drinks my wife's hard seltzer was warm. The service I can forgive. The terrible comics and performances I cannot forgive. The comics were simply not funny. One comic used 90% of his set time to talk about farts. Another comic made some controversial jokes about 9/11. I've been to many comedy clubs in the past. I've seen good shows and great shows. This one was just awful. I enjoyed the comedy but the venue, staff, and management are awful. They needed a card down for us to get drinks and we said we would like to pay cash at the end. Ultimately they brought us the check, and we paid and tipped with cash but when I checked my bank statement the next day, I was charged there too. I have called 4 times, and have been told I need to talk to Curtis to try and get the card refunded. I have left him a voicemail and two emails. It's been over a week and I'm assuming they're just going to steal the money. Pretty frustrating since it was $58 getting charged twice for a $15 show. read more

I was very excited when I saw this venue come to Chicago. Even better, it's less than a block from my apartment! The first time I went was on my birthday (in June). The venue itself was nice and open. We had a party of 4 and had our own little table near the front. The bar is in the back, but the waitstaff are very attentive throughout the show. I guess they would have to be with a 2 drink minimum per person... Maybe we caught a bad show. The venue was almost completely empty except for the first 2 rows of chairs and tables. It was probably 20 people in a 100-person venue. As for the comedians, maybe it was just an off night for them or they just weren't that great to begin with, but I was not overly impressed with the performance. Not sure why this place has bad reviews! Went on Saturday at 10pm, what a great show! All of the comedians except the last were absolutely hilarious. So 6/7 standup comedians did not fail. The drinks were good as well but I do suggest getting a beer or something on the rocks as their mixed drinks are a little expensive. The cheapest drink of the night was $6 for Maker's on the rocks. If you are visiting Chicago and are deciding which comedy club to visit, I would say after visiting The Second City and The Laugh Factory multiple times, that you are guaranteed more laughs and more for your money at TLF which showcases the best local stand up artists who comment on the city's culture and everyday life humor. We enjoyed 5 standup artists who each had a very honest perspective on living, dating and dealing with the weather and other shenanigans in this city. We are lucky to have this theatre in the Lakeview neighborhood which has never failed to deliver the most entertaining headliners of modern comedy. The 2 drink minimum is expected from every good comedy club and who doesn't want to enjoy a good cocktail to take the edge off? Get there early! You should arrive at least an hour before the show to get your favorite seat and a drink at the bar before the host hits the stage. read more

I was very hesitant about going because I'm kind of hard to please when it comes to stand up comedy. However, we had 7 comedians and I would pay to see every one of them again. These days everything is so saturated with politics, clash or cultures/race, problems with our country/world that it's depressing. Not only did they make you laugh about their personal life, careers, etc but they lightened the "problems" our world faces with jokes. Some people may hate that but sometimes it's necessary. Each comedian had their own style which made it 10x more enjoyable! My boyfriend and I went together and we live about an hour away, just outside of Illinois, and we both said we would drive to the city JUST to come back to the Laugh Factory. It's a fun thing to do for first dates, anniversaries, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthdays, etc,. You won't be disappointed! read more

I frequent this club, and it's always a solid decision. Some great comedians play regularly. Which is actually one of the few downsides. I've found a lot of repeated sets for the same comedians in different shows. It's probably because I go so frequently so I wouldn't let that deter you. They also have a great beer bucket deal in which you in addition to the beers you also get two complimentary tickets to a future show (non-Saturday/Sunday night). It's a great way to hit the two drink minimum with some friends. I'd definitely recommend this club. Great joint, and even better date spot. read more

Horrible experience. The show was supposed to start at 10, doors open at 930. We get there and they say they wont let us in til 10. Ok, whatever. I ask if we can sit at the bar. Nope, gotta go down the street to another place. Fine, I'll go spend money at your competition. Go, back to the laugh factory to be in time for the doors opening. They dont let us in until 1025. No apology, no sorry for the inconvenience, just a you can ho in now with hardly a glance.. 2 two drink minimum. Cool. Dont get the first drink we ordered before the show started until the third comic. She doesnt even take our 2nd drink order until there are two comics left. (Drinks were weak af) Then when it's over, the whole place has cleared out before our section even gets our bills. There are so many good comedy places in this city, dont bother with this dump. Went to celebrate my birthday with my kids and hubby. There were 5 stand up comedians with all different subject matters and delivery. Pretty funny stuff. Glad the Irish comic told us he was from Ireland. Once we knew that fact we could understand his accent MUCH better. The emcee/host was hilarious, could've listened to him all night. They have a 2 drink minimum which is fine, kudo's to our waitress who did an outstanding job keeping all the orders straight and timely. Ugh, wish I could remember her name. Recently while in town we had planned to see Second City, unfortunately due to the recent fire they had cancelled all shows. We decided to check out Laugh Factory instead. We chose the 10pm show. We decided to buy the VIP tickets even though they were a little more, but ended up finding a Groupon which had the VIP tickets for the same price as the regular ones. This was fortunate as it wasn't very crowded and the guaranteed seating offered by the VIP wasn't needed. There were four comedians total. Can't believe we even spent money here. Wow. Would have rather listened to the host, Jonah all night instead of this poor lineup. Absolute disaster of a show with the exception of two members of the Sunday night line up (abi and another I can't recall) who actually knew how to make people laugh. I was shocked at the level of humor these "comedians" deem funny and could tell I wasn't alone considering the vast majority of the small crowd was SILENT most of the night (aside from the expected scatter of wasted peeps). The Jew jokes and porn jokes got old real fast and I can appreciate self deprecating humor but this was just gross. Couldn't stand AJ Lubecker, Reena Calm and Mike Gamms. Worse than that, I felt that none of them were even remotely prepared. It was awkward and two of them seemed so uncomfortable with our small crowd they had no idea how to engage the audience. CRICKETS ALL NIGHT. Ugh. What a waste of time. Maybe I picked the wrong night to go, but regardless these novice comedians should stick to free open mic night to test out their "material" before charging for this joke of a show. I was put at the back right next to the door and it was really hard to listen to the comedians since people were coming and going all the time. at the middle of the show I asked the server to close the door. she said she didn't have the power to do that so she brought the manager to speak to me. I addressed to him I couldn't listen to the comedians and he told me to "stop making a scene and go back inside" when I was trying to have a conversation with him and address the fact I couldn't listen to anything. Then, he starts getting very rude, says the place is his, there is nothing he can do and if I'm not satisfied with my seat I can just leave. So did I. Everything was great until this manager who "owns everything and does whatever he wants" decides to provide a terrible customer service experience. Honestly, everything else was great! Serves, the little of what I could listen from the comedians, the drinks were awesome! But it blows my mind how a manager could be so egocentric and disrespectful with a customer who addressed there was no way to listen to a show that was paid for. read more
