I was hanging out with my friends and I went to the bathroom while they were going outside to smoke a cigarette. When I came back, I walked out to the patio that had no signage that it was closed assuming they went there to smoke, but to my surprise they were not out there. I was then told rudely that the patio was closed and I immediately turned around and went inside to return to my table. Before I could get to my table, the security guard had walked by at the same time, motioned to me as if to suggest I looked "off" and the person that told me the patio was closed nodded. The security guard then immediately removed me by force, and I asked why I was being motioned this way with to no avail. I received no explanation, so I assumed he was just showing me to where he thought my friends were at, out the front door instead. My friends were outside, so I finished smoking and went to go back in and was given a funny look at the door, but my friend said we were just returning to our table and the door man let us in. As I was returning, the same security guard that showed me the front door where my friends were grabbed me by force again and forced me to the front door. The door guy that just let me in also assisted in forcing me out to which I was not resisting aside from asking for the second time for an explanation. I was given no explanation and left without resistance. I was later told by my friends who did the same thing by walking to the patio to then be told it was closed that they got back in and sat at our table with no problem. I only had 3 beers over the two hours I was there and was a paying customer. The security guard must've just been taking a bad day out on me by kicking out someone for quite literally no reason. They were extremely disrespectful and I have 8 witnesses that would say this is unjust and unprofessional. Edited - went back and staff was very nice and food was good. Plenty of shade so it did not get too hot. Overall, I really enjoyed the chicken caesar wrap. They offer both grilled and fried options, we tried both. Both were very yummy! The tortilla was fresh, and the dressing was dispersed evenly in the wrap. Instead of coming with an order of fries, you get additional salad with the wrap so we ordered fries and cheese curds separately. It was HUGE, so you do get your moneys worth. We were here last spring. The service and the food was excellent. This time it was horrible. When we arrived there was only about six people at the bar. We sat down and we were ignored. Instead of waiting on us she waited on a large party of people who came in after us first. While she was drawing their beer she gave us the side eye and said we would be next. Then she did the same time four more times! As we were going to leave someone else took our order. We had to beg for additional tarter sauce and another drink. I felt hated to tell you the truth. I took no photos of the Cesar wrap that I had and then came back the next day to have again but wow! On a Saturday if you want to secure a table for your group get there around 11! Any later and you'll be fighting! This place gets crowded!!! Service was fine, though the lady bartender outside told me the marg I wanted to order was " too much work" which I thought was hilarious so I stuck to wells the rest of the day! What a fun neighborhood bar! We went yesterday with my WI family after they drove my son and I home from...WI. So what we love WI....we sat on the patio outside and the bartender was so friendly, especially towards our (and everyone else's) dog. We all had beers and burgers with fries. The fries were outstanding but I didn't especially love my burger, especially the almost raw bacon it came with, but being starving and on toddler time, I picked it off and ate everything. As we were walking back to our apartment I told my Chicago born husband (who had been good natured-ly grumbling about having to live by a Packers supporting bar) that we should definitely go back because the patio is so nice and they are extremely dog friendly. We got the beer-battered Cheese Curds, a true Wisconsin staple, and these cheeseacurds are best described as solid and what you would expect in flavor. Always have had a great experience here. Loved coming out with my friends for many years. Came tonight and met a new bouncer. The one with the thick glasses and acid washed orange jeans. It's scary to see such a small man with so much authority. He put his hands in multiple females faces. Clearly asserting his dominance to the other bouncers at the door. They were actually doing a promotion with High Noon the night we came by and they were giving them out along with koozies. I love eating salads out of big mixing bowls at home so I greatly appreciated the big metal bowl as a serving method. The bar is fans of Wisconsin sports, which is the only bad thing. Bar is pretty much a neighborhood gathering place because it's hard to find. It's in a mostly residential area, hidden. There's no parking lot, only parking on streets. It has pretty good prices on drinks. They of course have Wisconsin beers such as Leinenkugel. It's about $5 for some, including rarer flavors. They also have cocktail specials. Also cheese curds. It's about $5 for an appetizer of food. They also have Chips And Salsa. Good stuff to munch on. The only bad thing is they show the Fudge Packers games on TV, so avoid coming in here Sundays. Good overall for a place to hang out when it's not as crowded. So I love the ambience and the fact that I could find some great pro-Wisconsin folk while visiting some high school friends. It has been a very long time since I've been blocked from entering a bar by a bouncer requesting my ID, so that was likewise a fun blast from the past. We came on a weekday not knowing it was trivia, thought about leaving as a result, but said "what the heck" and instead got very invested in this game of trivia. Overall a fun time at a fun bar, I would definitely come here for a Packers or Badgers game if I'm ever in town during one. Despite having the city-wide Wisconsin pull, it also had the ambiance of a chill, neighborhood watering hole. Love it. I came here at the end of November, so I was not pleased by the lack of dark beer options but oh well. I still had a good beer and got to try a NA beer I'd never heard of before - something with "pine" and it was delicious. My buddies had to order the cheese curds, which they found to be great, and I found to be a bit lackluster. I had high hopes, but I didn't find the cheese to be that impressive. We actually all stopped and pondered whether or not it was mozzarella. Still, as items of fried cheese, they were not un-tasty and we finished the basket among the 5 of us. The breading was fried nicely. Only two ordered food, but the sandwich looked great and their fries are INCREDIBLE. If I hadn't just come from dinner, I'd just sit with a basket of fries all night in sheer fried bliss. Next time. Another buddy ordered the salad and it was like he got an entire salad bar. The salad was beautifully presented in a large metal mixing bowl and it was enormous. I also give Will's mad points for having an entire section of their menu for steamed broccoli. One of my favorite neighborhood dive bars in Chicago - I've been for fish fry, I've been for euchre league nights, and I've been just to grab a drink with friends. I'm not a Wisconsin sports fan but I can still appreciate all the quirky decor they have, including the gigantic moose on the patio. Speaking of the patio - they have a separate bar with TV's and plenty of outdoor seating. The only time I'd avoid Wills is during a big Wisconsin game - count on this place being totally packed. My go-to here is a draft beer (usually original Leinenkugel) and the cheese curds - it'll transport you 50 miles straight north. Their fish fry is also good, but they only offer it on Fridays. All of the servers are great and if you accidentally leave your tab open, they just close it for you with a standard 20% tip. All around great atmosphere. Come check it out for yourself! read more
