I love date nights at the Laugh Factory. Every time we go there's always people celebrating all types of stuff so it's a great spot to celebrate with friends and family. Tickets are always reasonable and in many instances you can get them for free. However, because of that there is a two drink minimum for all guests. It's not that bad because the drinks can be non-alcoholic or alcoholic so if you don't drink this is still a great spot. The key thing is you have to order them from your table via the server. The only thing that bothers me about this is typically service can be kinda slow because there is a lot of guests and only a couple servers and last time I was here there was only one waitress for the entire place. Even though we weren't able to place our 1st drink order until 25% of the way through the show, I'm still not sure how she did it all. I've never had a bad experience here. The comedians are always pretty good. I've even gone to a couple shows on NYE and it's a great way to ring in the new year. This is a great thing to do in Chicago. read more

We went on a Wednesday night and saw their Verified Laughs show. It turned out to be the semifinals of a competition, so they had 6 comedians doing 7 minute sets a piece. At first, we were worried that we'd only get to see the 6 contestants, but they had a couple of other sets, as well as a headliner, so we ended up getting a full 2 hours or so of entertainment. All of the comedians were funny, though some were more polished than others. As you'd expect, the sets contained some crude adult jokes. There was a group in the front that seemed to be offended by these jokes, and the headliner mercilessly called them throughout his set. So it's best to bring your sense of humor unless you're prepared to be heckled. The only disappointing part of the experience was the drinks. Our waitress was friendly and did a great job navigating the packed auditorium to get our drinks out quickly, but we weren't thrilled with the quality or size of the drinks for the price. Our $9 vodka sodas tasted a little weak, and weren't mixed or served with a straw -- after the initial sip, which was a mouthful of vodka, it was entirely soda. okay, so this is not a rating of the performance we saw. Let's be clear on that. This is a rating of the service from laugh factory. The guy who was selling tickets had no clue about an upcoming show. We asked if a performer was in the upcoming show or a later show and he said he had no idea. I said can you check? He said I am not sure who would know. Ummm....seriously? Well you should probably have a process to find out next time. Either they didn't train this poor guy at all or he just didn't give a crap and didn't want to go ask somebody. The guy who ripped our ticket was friendly, but he was the lone positive. Just FYI, they get you with the antiquated "2 drink minimum." Whatever, their house their rules I guess. Just think they should let you know before buying tickets because it always feels like you have been swindled when you find out after you buy the tickets. They also have a terrible process for checking you out after the show. You give them your CC as they force you to get 2 drinks each and then at the end the waitress is supposed to come by and check you out. Except mine didn't come back and I couldn't find her for 30 minutes after the show. I couldn't leave since they had my CC. The rest of the theater except her section was all checked out by the time the show ended. Just her section. If she had something come up, nobody covered for her? She eventually showed up and checked us out 30 minutes later to an empty room. read more

My first time going was on a Friday night, and it was a nice amount of people there. The seating area is large. They have a 2 drink minimum, with decent beverage menu. And the comedians were funny. The only thing I didn't like about the laugh Factory, was that they try to force you towards the middle and front of the stage. I felt like I should be able to sit where I want so I can be comfortable for the show. I recommend you check this place out. read more

Dingy looking spot with extremely overpriced terrible drinks. Even the non-alcoholic drinks are overpriced and taste weird and watered down. If you buy a ticket to see a specific comedian, better get there early because a ticket is a not a guarantee you'll get in. They're quick to take your money but they oversell seats. I received a free ticket to come back another day but I will not be wasting my time. I've been there twice only to see specific comedians and was hoping to continue supporting by attending their regular shows, since it's in the neighborhood, but I won't waste my time trying to go again for any reason. The times I've gone I've also witnessed their bouncers being rude and having poor de-escalation skills. I feel bad for the comedians and hope they can advocate for better customer service for their supporters or that they can find a better venue. read more

I came to the Laugh Factory on a Saturday night after snagging free tickets on Eventbrite for the 7:00 show. My boyfriend and I arrived at around 6:55 and we were still able to be seated at a crammed two person table in the back with a clear view. Our server approached us very quickly and got us our drinks very fast. The wait staff was very good at taking orders without disturbing the show itself. The drinks are fairly priced, especially for having a two drink minimum. The cabernet sauvignon ($6 a glass) was very good and my glasses were fairly full. The show didn't start until around 7:10-7:15 so don't be too stressed if you're late. There were around 8 acts and I would argue that only half of them were worth seeing. Fortunately, each set was very short (maybe 5-10 minutes), so it's not the end of the world if you don't like a comedian. Definitely worth visiting at least once while you're in Chicago. There are a few bad acts occasionally, so I would recommend drinking to help make them a little funnier. read more

My views on standup will be slightly different from other folks. I watch lots of comedy & appreciate the different kinds that comics can offer. The mainstream, the typical, the unpopular, the utterly nerdy, the racy, the introverted, all kinds. I go to dives, open mic nights and stages across the city. I've paid top dollar, a few dollars and gotten free drinks to attend a show. In other words, I've seen the good, the bad and the fucking awkward. (Some really, brutally awkward comedy too....) Hitting lots of shows around town and over the years, I have gotten to see comics in their early stages. Some of the biggest names out of Chicago, and a few on stages like the Laugh Factory. I have a fondness for Laugh Factory. There are many shows running where you can get the most bang for your buck. It's harsh when reviewers hold the theater accountable for the comic on stage thought, discussing reviews. If the comic bombs, it's the comic not the theater's fault. What I can fault the theater about is service during shows. I'd prefer to buy all my drinks at the bar but once the show is underway, all drinks must be purchased through your waitstaff. Some are awesome and others are not great. It's a throw of dice on what level of service you'll get. Follow this.. order your drinks early and close your tab before last call. Obv, paying cash is the best method. Very important to close out before that final call. There are times we've had to wait on receipts after the show ended and lights were on & other patrons had already left the building. For those that love stand-up, I suggest attending the open mic free show. The number of comedians performing will vary week to week. This is a newbie comic show so try to be kind, respectful and clap for everyone. On one recent trip, I got to see 16 comics in one show! Their styles were all different. Some were bad, forgetful and others a downright riot. At times, veterans may stop by and do a set in between which is always a treat. But the best is discovering a new comic that you dig and running into them every once in awhile. I used to be a regular attendee at another open-mic, the "Comedians you should know show," which often occurs at Timmy O'Toole's downtown. (A tiny space but good show to see) This is another long running show where you can hear up-and-coming comics to Chicago's scene. For those that want good comedy, definitely purchase tix to one of their more popular shows. Thursdays to Sundays offer a myriad of options and there are often great comics hosted at LF. Seats are first come first serve and if you don't want to get called on, obv sit in a darker area of the club. If you're looking for discounts on tix, look to some of the other reviews. I love a good comedy show and as far as venues go, I do believe The Laugh Factory may be my favorite. The bee's knees. The cat's meow. The elephant's instep. Between Yelp Check-ins and other offers, you may be able to score free tickets here on any given night. I went a couple of weeks ago for a special night all about dating and ended up actually purchasing my tickets. I'm a sucker. Though my friends and I shelled out the cash for the show, it was well worth it. They had 5 or 6 comedians each do their spiel lasting from just a few minutes to longer sets of 15 minutes. As to be expected, some were better than others but the laugh providers that hit - they really hit and we chucked the whole way through their set. There was a gentleman that kept things going throughout the show with interludes between each jokester reading audience horror dating stories, so that was fun. He kept things flowing quite nicely though. At the end of the show, they had a long audience participation bit. How this goes depends completely on who they pick to go on stage and sadly 2 of 3 on my night were duds so it was often more awkward than hilarious. Laugh Factory has the comedy club standard of having to order at least 2 food or drink items each but as we all know....Drinks make everything funnier. It's not hard to meet this minimum. With a Bud Light priced at $5 and a Goose Island at $6, it made it clear to us to go with the craft beer for just a buck more. We also ordered their chicken tenders which came with honey mustard. They were pretty standard but tasty and we gobbled them up quite quickly! They had some delicious sounding desserts on the menu but we didn't quite make it that far. All in all, we walked away loving Laugh Factory. The setups is better than most other comedy clubs, it seems less run down than most others, service was good and the comedy was great! read more

Went in December last year (2021). The show was entertaining. This review is for the Laugh Factory itself. We sat down in a decent time and the waiter took our order. We order 1 Long Island, 1 beer, and 2 bottled waters for the minimum. Our drinks took some time and were just okay. We did want another drink but I guess the waiter at that time was overwhelmed. For the experience, it was okay for a comedy place. I would come back of course depending on the show but I would not expect great service. read more

The lineup overall was pretty funny but the hostess (I hate to say) was quite awful and uncomfortable to endure each time she came on stage. Her sequined sweater was indeed different but her humor was just not up my alley and it didn't seem to speak ro much of the audience either. The drinks were as you'd expect at a place like this. Overpriced and not great. It somewhat took away from the experience knowing you "had to" purchase 2 drinks per person and they were somewhat watered down. As for the actual performers, they were great for the most part and we enjoyed their show. Maybe the experience would have been much more enjoyable if the comedians introduced eachother instead of that hostess. I found her a bit disruptive of the show's pacing. The laugh factory is such a FUN night out! Word to the wise - use code laugh for free tickets - but remember you'll have to buy 2 drinks so they're not technically "free." Great drinks, great laughs - overall a great place to go when you're looking to mix up the monotony and do something fun and different! My only complaint is the service could use some work. You're required to order two drinks but I didn't even get to talk to my waiter until over half way through the show which makes it difficult to finish all of that. Credit Card Scamming! I visited Laugh Factory Chicago 10-28-22. The entertainment was worth the $20 ticket to get in, but all other charges were a total ripoff. The 2 drink minimum $12 and up was a little more than water at best. The boneless wings was frozen nuggets and the chip & dip was served with stale chips. The tip was $12.78 and an additional fraudulent tip was added on top of that for $2.98 totaling $93.88 + $40 (2tickets) $133.88 =. TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT AND THE LAUGH WAS ON ME!! That's not ALL!!! our waitress, Eliza (tab. 4277) made an Amazon charge on my credit card or allowed someone else at the business establishment to do so. Fraud charges are pending and I hope they start with charging the Laugh Factory, Chicago on Broadway because they are complicit with this illegal behavior. I sure I'm not the only person this has happened to. If you want laughs, good food and drinks, and a honest establishment don't stop here. read more

Nice looking venue. Nice that we saw so many different comedians, but would have preferred fewer to let them develop their stories a bit more. The audio made it hard to hear at times. The alcoholic drinks had little to NO ETOH and the server said that's how they often taste. He asked if I wanted a double next time since you have to buy two per person and I thought a second glass of alcohol free Long Island iced tea at increased costs wasn't necessary. So I overpaid for a bottle of water. We left there thinking we would not go back for a similar experience. read more

Horrible experience!! purchased 8 tickets for the December 26, 2022 show -people drove in from far away suburbs we all paid to park and drove around looking for spots in a very crowded area -went out to dinner a block away from the venue to support local business -had a very expensive mediocre meal -walked over hoping to see a good show to end evening on a good note to find out that the doors were locked !! no marquee lights on-NO NOTICE whatsoever on the door !!! no email sent noting a cancellation! Plus I've been calling the place for the last three days no one answers the phone and it goes to a full recorder answering machine so I have been unable to leave any sort of message to reach anybody about what happened or to get a refund pretty pimpy UNBELIEVABLE!!! I've been here twice and had a great experience both times. The tickets are generally affordable, though they do require a 2 drink minimum for each guest (can range from water bottle to soda to alcoholic drinks). The hosts are speedy and are always circulating to bring out whatever you need. And the comedians are awesome. I like getting to see many different comedians perform sets during one show. read more

I came here years ago and remember having a good experience but this Friday makes me not want to come back. For starters we waited outside for over 40 min, once we got in I ordered two drinks, top shelf Vodka and pineapple. Service was a bit slow but expected for the amount of people that showed up. Once I got my drink it was horrible, could not taste any pineapple, pure vodka, and I noticed no one got a straw. In total I ordered 4 drinks, 2 of them being doubles. My check total came out to $128, that's insane, never will I come here again, it u do stick to beer. In regards to the comedians, they were good, some very funny. read more
