We interviewed a half dozen wedding photographers, and after a whirlwind experience I can confidently say that J & D are the most communicative and easy to work with. They have a can-do attitude and bring a low key sense of humor and enthusiasm to their projects. Everybody got along easily with them. Their equipment they use gave them a lot of options for getting great shots, they knew when to take advantage of good lighting, and they were SO kind about the few time they asked us to pose in the moment--a quick, "hey look over here!". Those quick and easy moments all paid off ... now that we have the shots we can see why they went for it. They included engagement photos in their package, and that shoot was a super fun adventure, everybody was in a good mood, so of course we got great photos that we'll have forever. I can't emphasize enough how many of the OTHER photographer candidates we interviewed came to their projects with an attitude like, 'this is how WE do things', or asking intrusive personal questions, or making us come down to their office for a sales pitch... Like many other reviewers, when looking for a photographer, we wanted an approach that was more journalistic, but still had an editorial bent. In other words, we didn't want a ton of posed photos, but instead wanted moments captured in a beautiful, subtle, and elegant way. I came across a photo that Jaime took of a row of grandparents laughing, and knew almost right then and there that I would want to work with them. I loved the process of talking and even negotiating with Jaime and Dennis. From the get go, they were interested in who we are, our lives, and what we wanted out of our photographs. I got the sense that they don't take cookie-cutter approaches to wedding photography, and love that philosophy. They both worked with us to come up with a package that fit our budget and made sense for everyone, always being extremely responsive and professional. On our wedding weekend, Dennis and Jaime were phenomenal. They blended in seamlessly with our guests and vendors, would get into any position for great photos (at some point I was scared Dennis was going to fall off a cliff), and cared enough in the flow of the day to not take us away from the party for too long, yet long enough so that we got beautiful shots. Beyond that, Jaime actually was extraordinary in helping with little things, like when the train of my dress got dirty from walking on the street - she had all sorts of ideas on how we could get the marks out, and went out of her way to do so. When we got the images a mere 2 weeks later (!!), I was blown away. The images were so special and captured spontaneous moments not just of us but also of our guests. There are so many photos I want to frame and two months later, I still go through them every week or so because of how beautiful they are. If you want the longer version, keep reading... :) So, just over a year and a half ago, my (now) husband and I got engaged and I knew right away that photography would be one of the most important elements of our wedding. Almost as soon as we got engaged, I began the hunt for the perfect photographer and we luckily stumbled across Nirav's work. We were immediately enamored with it, how he is able to capture and perfect seemingly peaceful moments framed and executed in a way only a practiced fine art photographer can. We loved his ability to fall into the background and capture sweet and candid moments of his subjects. So mere weeks after we were engaged, we booked Nirav, and my husband and I are SO glad we did. A few months before our wedding, we met Nirav for our engagement shoot and he immediately put us at ease - we had never had photos taken of us before so it took a little getting used to. By the end of the session, Nirav genuinely seemed like a friend we had known for far longer than a couple hours. Not to mention the pictures came out amazingly - they not only make us look good, but they also beautifully captured the scenery around us. Fast forward to the day of our wedding. Nirav was patient, diligent, and knew exactly what he was doing.
