Couldn't handle 4 Jeff Tweedy shows for Largo. Server kept crashing. Do they work out of their mom's basement still?

We would have never known about this artsy area on the other side (south) of the metro exit off Bergamot. They had 2 separate areas with 2 shows going on simultaneously. They sell snacks and drinks including beer/wine. The setup is like a restaurant with a small stage - walking by I first thought it was a restaurant, maybe it used to be?!? I believe they have comedy classes there as well. Everyone who worked there were super inviting and we had a good time.

So, boom we ended up at the Crow we found out. They still had tickets available so we bought tickets and couple of beers and there you go... The comics were hysterical. Of course they picked on my guy. He wouldn't stop raising his hand so that's his problem... But it was a really cool vibe... artsy in the art district of Santa Monica LBGTQ plus friendly and you know selling all like beers that are aligned with the same core values as myself making sure that everybody's inclusive it was great. It was a good night. We laughed our butts off.

I…read morearrived to the theatre only to find out that the director had decided to cancel the show and turn it into a dress rehersel. This is information you need to let people know earlier in the day not wait until they waste their time and gas money and arrive at the box office. The girl running the box office was apoigetic and nice. Someone associated from the production was trying to have the people that did buy tickets be able to sit through the rehersal since it would be a full run-through. He later told me that he was overruled and it was a no go. I did receive a refund, but even the refund doesn't cover the price of gas that was spent and sitting in traffic driving there and driving back. Not to mention there are different things I could have done with my day if i wasn't going to attend this show. Astronomical unprofessionalism and zero regard for the audience's time and frankly money. If you have already purchased tickets to one of their performances I highly recommend that you confirm if the show is still going on so your time isn't wasted. I have to say out of all of the plays I have seen in LA this is one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I won't be going to any future plays put on by this production company. Do better. This is pretty disgusting.

The Iranian-American playwright Houshang Touzie and his production company, Work Shop 79, are presenting his latest play at Odyssey this weekend, and I attended their rehearsal last night to be part of it. What I love most about Odyssey is that every seat is a "good seat." The lighting director and the sound engineer were busy setting everything up, and I sat silently in the darkness, watching everything come together in preparation for what was to come this weekend. Thank you, Odyssey, for welcoming plays from other cultures and languages into your theater.

A hidden gem. Let's jump right into this review…read more The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles is a renowned, non-profit theater known for intimate productions of classic and contemporary plays, new works, and educational programs. Two main spaces, the 500-seat Gil Cates Theater and the smaller Audrey Skirball-Kenis Theater. My son and I attended a play - Table 17 and sat in the balcony box of the Gil Cates Theater. Box seats $139pp Pros 1. Very nice venue. An intimate space with every seat being a good seat. Great acoustics also. 2. Bathrooms are clean and grounds are well-kept. 3. Small bar area that sells food items and drink, including alcohol. 4. Patio area and seating in the lobby if you arrive early. Doors usually open 1 hour before showtime. Theater doors open 30 minutes before curtain time. Cons 1. Parking can be a challenge but not impossible. Metered street parking. Use the text to pay function because you can add additional time from your phone and receive reminders via text when your time is about to expire. There are also paid parking lots within walking distance. Prices will vary. I was impressed with Geffen Playhouse and will definitely be back. BTW - Table 17 was an amazing play - funny, thought provoking, and an attention grabber.

I have seen so many amazing plays here over the years and recently saw the play, "Master Harold"...and the boys and it was just as fantastic as I imagined it would be! It was very well acted and directed with a gorgeous set design. I really felt transported to another time while watching the play! The lobby and courtyard are gorgeous and while they are small and get crowded quickly, they are still enjoyable to relax before or after the play! We came on a Sunday thinking there would be complimentary wine (which there definitely used to be!), but sadly it seems they have discontinued this. The seats were comfy and pretty spacious and since the theaters are smaller here, every seat offers a great view. The sound amplifies well throughout the theater. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Parking can be a little tricky in the area but they do have a lot next door! We were able to find a free spot a few blocks away in the neighborhood! There's lots of restaurants nearby to dine at before or after the show as well! I cannot wait to return soon to see another play here!
