If you're craving authentic Mexican cuisine, look no further - Laura's Cocina is the hidden gem you've been waiting for. Located in a relatively nondescript little building off of Nolensville Pike, a little past K&S Market, Laura's can be easy to miss. There's a dedicated free parking lot (which, admittedly could use some upkeep) in the back of the building. The inside is no frills but very clean and with friendly, attentive service. I came on a Sunday at peak lunch time and it was pretty sparse but slowly started filling up a bit. One main waitress took my order. I wanted to try a little bit of several things so got queso dip, authentic chicken tacos, shrimp tacos, a chicken Gordita, and a side of their hot sauce. As expected you get complimentary chips and salsa. These were tasty, went well with the perfect, drippy queso to start off the meal. The tacos were next: simple but very flavorful. Chicken and shrimp topped corn tortillas with finely chopped red onion, cilantro, snd crumbly delicious cotija cheese, served with wedges of lime and their hot sauce. These were awesome, very authentic, perfectly cooked, and tasty. The hot sauce was pretty spicy but also quite flavorful - it's a must order! The real standout of the meal was the Gordita. Even one is quite large. It was stuffed to the brim with refried beans, chicken, lettuce, and cotija. I added salsa and hot sauce. It mostly held together despite being so stuffed but was so, so delicious. The homemade masa flour covering was still hot from cooking when it came to me and exactly what I was craving. I was honestly too full to try more, but already thinking about my next visit. They've got a decent selection of Mexican items as well as some Honduran and Salvadoran specialties. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food look no further! They even have Honduran food as well! Everything here is made with love. The fajita nachos are one of my fave nachos in all of Nashville. The queso in the nachos is perfectly mixed into the dish and the peppers complement the steak perfectly. The Jamaica is very delicious and fresh. The quesadillas are toasted just right and have a saltiness to the flour that helps the quesadilla be a star. The service is good, but a little too on top of us. I'm a slow eater and I don't like to feel rushed and the server asked like 5 times if we were good and if I needed a to go box. I just wanted to peacefully eat my nachos in the restaurant. So naturally, having eaten superior Mexican cuisine in Mexico and while growing up in Los Angeles, I had to check it out for myself to see if it met my standards. Laura's Cocina is one of those places I have driven by so many times but never stopped in and so we finally did it on a Saturday for lunch, and I am so glad we did! I was shocked to find it empty - we were the only ones in there. But we were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. The decor is nice and the light is bright and natural. There are two very large screens that can be split to catch all the sports. The salsa is so delicious and fresh. A little more on the chunky side but it is so tasty! Chips and delicious. Queso wonderful too! I had enchiladas with red sauce. One beef and one chicken. The red sauce is so yummy. Little bit of spice and flavors are great. We can't wait to go back. The food and service here are excellent! This is not a cookie cutter standard Mexican restaurant on Nolensville road! Laura's has some original dishes that aren't common at other places like Gorditas and Sope's! Everything we ordered was so fresh and tasty! The warm chips are addicting & the salsa has great flavor! They have a great selection of flavored margaritas! You can't beat the price for the margaritas and they are literally perfect! This looks like a small hole in the wall from the outside, but inside there's plenty of space for everyone! Also plenty of parking in the back! Been here twice now for lunch. I absolutely love their milanesa torta. Their tacos on the homemade corn tortilla are also very good and their salsa they serve is homemade not the stuff everyone else serves that taste like pizza sauce. They have a pretty good size menu and looking forward to trying some other dishes, but its been hard not to order the torta. been hard to find good bread down here for that sandwich. Dang. Echoing the other reviews. Great food and kind folks. My wife and I (and 4 month old daughter) came early Saturday ~5pm. There was one other table occupied (probably 20 tables total), so we had our choice of seats. We started with a Piña Agua Fresca and a Mexican coke. Complimentary chips and salsa were super good. My wife and a chicken tostada and carnitas Gordita and I had the Laura's fajitas (typically not a fajitas guy, too texmex for me). These were very flavorful. Easily the best part were the handmade tortillas. We had both the corn and the flour and both were really good The flour tortillas were flavorful but thicker than most (though fluffy in a good way, slightly thinner than naan) Service was super friendly and the meal was very reasonable. This was a nice find in south Nashville! Everything was fresh and as authentic as you can get in the city. My wife and I ordered the shredded chicken enchiladas with green sauce and a beef fajita burrito. Both were tasty, the green sauce was made from scratch, and the flavor was on point. We also got a horchata that was the best I've had in Nashville (a little grainy but made fresh). The flan and xango (think churro stuffed with cream cheese) were also good. The service was great and friendly and the ambience was casual but clean. Parking was easy just behind the restaurant. All in all worth a visit if you're looking for authentic Mexican/Salvadoran food that offers standard food options that's made fresh with high quality ingredients. So, there are over 200 Mexican restaurants in 37211. I've lived at Nippers Corner for 5 years. We eat Mexican or Central American very often As it's the wife's favorite. Without a doubt this is my favorite so far. We wanted to try a variety and ordered way more than we could eat. Started with the aguachilies, then beef empanadas, Chile rellanos, enchiladas, Gordita.
