I have a larger size and often feel discouraged by the selection in most stores or the staggering prices in those same stores or online. Scam alert: Feeling overwhelmed by my cancer diagnosis and upcoming double mastectomy, I went to Laura's Corset for a fitting before my surgery. I was treated with kindness and professionalism until I was about to leave with my bras. That's when things took a turn. After the saleswoman (Laura, I think) handed me my bag, she announced that the total was $25. I told her that I thought that my medical provider covered all costs. Then it got weird. She said you can pay if you want, but you don't have to. Like I stated before, I was overwhelmed, and I didn't realize what she was trying to do until after I was walking out, in a daze, to my car. I told her that, if I owed her compensation, I would like to honor that, but I was confused, as my medical provider, KP, covered the bras in full. She repeated the suggestion that I could pay if I wanted to, so I said I'd call Kaiser to clarify my benefits. She immediately and vehemently protested, grabbed my paperwork, and showed me that my copay for the bras was $0. I then asked her what the $25 was for. She was caught off guard, paused, and said, "for upgrade". $25 might not seem like much to some, but it is an amount that many would just hand their credit cards over to charge it and not think twice. No matter the amount, the practice of taking advantage of cancer patients and trying to extort money from them is deplorable. I left feeling violated and even more vulnerable and overwhelmed. I reported the incident to my medical provider and was referred to a different third party bra provider, and I no longer go to these appointments alone. Shameful! read more

Today my Mother and I set out to try and find some bras for her as she had not purchased any in a long time. We started out at a large box store and left empty handed and disappointed. Her size is an unusual one to begin with. I recalled this store as having driven by many times over the years and I am sorry that I had not come by sooner after our excellent experience today. We were greeted by the owner, a lovely, warm and welcoming individual who after chatting selected some choices for Mom. She asked if she may help by seeing them on. She helped my Mom and provided excellent advice and service. The bras were spot on (size, fitting, design) perfect but the greatest thing I took away was her kindness and making my Mom feel special and pretty. That is PRICELESS in a world of big stores with little of that to go around these days. Apparently you can make an appointment or stop by. Easy parking in rear too! I hate bra shopping! I am a 36DD which is a hard size to shop for. Finding a comfortable bra that doesn't look like it belongs in grandmas drawer is really difficult. I usually never draw anyone into my undergarment drama but because I needed a corset and the darn things are impossible to do up yourself, I had to ask for help. I found Laura's through some on-line surfing and decided to give it a try. I was immediately put at ease the minute I walked in. The owner is a sweet, knowledgeable, easygoing, woman named Haley that knows how to make you look and feel like the most important person in the whole shop. I left that day with exactly what I needed. I have been to other shops and was not impressed. I always felt out of place and that I was more of a burden to the staff that a welcome customer. I felt welcome the minute I stepped foot into the place. Other shops had unpleasant ambiances, they felt either geared towards the young, trendy, trashy, or elderly...I felt like I was in a shop meant for a normal, everyday, natural woman!! The shop is classy, spacious, and very comfortable. You feel like you are shopping is someone's oversized bedroom suit. Classical music plays in the background and you feel at ease! You may pay more...but you will be satisfied if what you are looking for is an undergarment that fits, is comfortable and makes you look amazing. I went here after looking online for a place to take my 25 year old daughter to get properly fitted for bras, and felt this was a good match based on the other reviewers. Haley was truly amazing. She made our visit such a fun yet educational experience. She is a breath of fresh air, and so warm and friendly. She has beautiful inventory, and if she doesn't have it, she can order it. I was talked into an ill-fitting longline bra to wear under my wedding dress while at Davids Bridal. After my tailor pointed out that it wouldn't do, I was left with a week until my next appointment to find something similar that fit. Yelp directed me to Laura's Corset Shoppe. Wow. Laura was so nice, and all smiles for me. She sized me up and found two suggestions for me right away. Not only did they fit correctly, they were both WAY more comfortable than the DB version. On top of that, Laura offered suggestions to help my DB purchase fit better. I ended up buying a new longline bra because it was so much more comfortable, at a reasonable price of $55. Highly recommend! I took my 14 yr old daughter in for a proper fitting and to buy her nice bras that actually fit and take care of her boobies. Hayley aka "Ms. Laura" was super nice, incredibly friendly, and taught my daughter not only how to correctly adjust her bra, but how a properly fitted bra is supposed to look and feel. My daughter was convinced she needed a breast reduction because her boobs always looked like they were sagging. I took her to Laura's and she was fitted with bras that were both comfortable and flattering. She walked out feeling like a nee and confident person. I went a few days later for my own fitting. This is a wonderful shop and Haley is a gift. Having double mastectomy surgery is tough enough but Haley makes it SO easy to find what you need afterwards. Caring, kind, and very, very considerate.
