I was directed here by Google maps. I was in search of black hair care products for my knotless braids. I arrived and greeted; I asked for black hair care products. The lady said "we get this all the time and I have to explain this so much..." hmm. If you have a need for black hair products why not add them to your store? The expression she gave showed it was a repeated request that she had to turn people away for. A simple solution for the business and the customers would be make your store accessible for all races. In 2023 in a wig store, if you don't have black hair care products you may as well put a "WHITES ONLY" sign on the door. read more

Today I went in looking for a human hair wig after I got off of work with more than enough to purchase to one (they're pretty pricey) and the blonde middle-aged lady rudely said "We only have one. I was directed to this wig store as the only one in Shasta County. I made an appointment looking forward to selecting a wig. What I met with is difficult to describe, I can only say that in addition to selling wigs they are also in the business of customer service, in that that regard I had a very negative experience. There was absolutely no interest in me as a customer. There was no warmth or caring, just a very cold deadpan response. Wigs are expensive, but there was never a thank you for my purchase. I don't have the answer why this would be the case, except to say that I believe the owner has lost all enthusiasm for her job. She pulled out one wig and no others for me to consider even though I had brought a photo of the very short style I wanted. The whole experience seemed like a blur, like I had been processed on an assembly line. There was no attempt to evaluate or measure me for the proper wig size and as a result the wig is too large. I noticed a similar thread in other reviews concerning the owner's demeanor as being unfriendly, and I would say bored, disinterested and annoyed. There was never a smile or normal pleasantries. It was a very off-putting experience. And a phone call I made later to ask some questions was met with what sounded to me like annoyance and anger. Obviously, I will never return to this shop. I wish I had been more knowledgeable to prepare for my appointment, but I expected to learn everything I needed to know during my appointment, however that was not the case. As a result, I spent a great deal of time researching the subject of wigs, sizes, shapes, fit, colors, quality, etc. and I purchased a short wig online, not received yet, hope it will work, but not worried they accept returns. The first time I went in, I got what I needed with no problem. The young lady who helped me was friendly. The next time, another dark-haired young lady was there. Maybe she doesn't realize how arrogant she comes across. I also ordered a product three weeks ago. I haven't received a call yet. In reading the other reviews, I'm detecting a pattern of bad service. My mother really wanted to look at Henna products at Laura's and we were greeted upon walking into the shop, which made for a delightful first impression, but then ..things took a turn for the worse. One of the gals with long, wavy very dark brown (or possibly black) hair and glasses was very testy with us. She was speaking with a superior air, and every time we asked a question about the Henna, she gave her personal opinions in a condescending manner, instead of informing us about the products we wished to purchase. It was a terrible shopping experience. When I asked if there were other ladies in the shop who used Henna who could help us (because, dear God I wanted the young woman to leave us in peace and speak to a normal, less-aggressive sales associate,) her response was, "NO. NONE of us in this shop uses Henna. IT STAINS!" ..I thought that was the point. My mother and I were both baffled and rattled by our experience at Laura's and we will not be returning. I would rather buy a Henna product online and wait three weeks for it in the mail than return to that store. Totally rude and unprofessional behavior isn't what we expected. That sales associate (and apparently she cuts hair there? She made a point to say so) is not representing the store owner well. I'm hoping this comment actually is seen at some point. I have gone to Laura's Wig and Beauty for years. Kathy, the owner is fabulous along with ALL of the employees there. Every time my husband and I go, they always welcome us and know us by name and ask if we need any assistance. The products are amazing, have never had any issues. Thank you Kathy and the whole team for making the disease I have easier to deal with. You guys are amazing!!! read more

The staff is very rude, under qualified and unhelpful. I found on more than one occasion that several of their products are expired by two years. When you're paying the high price of salon products, you shouldn't have to worry about getting expired products, especially when dealing with some of the more natural brands. read more

I have dealt with the owner three times, both in person and on the phone and every time have been left with the same impression that she cannot be bothered to exert pleasantries nor appreciation for my business. (Each time I was the only one to say "thank you" even.) I was tempted to give this business only one star but gave it two because her employees are wonderful! I have been waited on by several of them or spoken with them over the phone and they are consistently sweet, smiling and very helpful. Unfortunately, I cannot use any of those descriptives about the owner. I sincerely hope she is aware of how good her employees are as they might just be the only reason people go back there. read more

Went in to get some hair extensions and everyone was kind and helpful. They even special ordered hair extensions for me, BUT don't let them fool you on the waiting time. When I ordered them for a special occasion she said they would be there later that week. The next week I waited and then called. Whoever I spoke to (I believe it was the owner) was completely unfriendly! She told me that they are in delivery and told me not to call and she would call me. 4 days later the day before I need the extensions, I call again getting the same response. I was appalled. I love this beauty store! Laura's Wig and Beauty has never failed to always have what I need! I even come from out of town to buy my product here. The staff is friendly, but they leave me to brows. I like that they let me brows around, if i have any questions they are always around. Laura's was extremely nice to me. I got two wigs that I got from the American Cancer Society clipped, sewn and styled and my head shaved for ten dollars. I am a cancer patient undergoing treatment and they treated me like a queen. Try out their new location at East Avenue. They were friendly and very knowledgeable about wigs. read more

I decided to update my review as I will no longer be purchasing my hair care products from here. Long story short I have been coming here for years. They literally have reached stalker level when asking if you need help. The last time I went in they asked me if I needed help, I said no thank you I know my way around. You would think that you would recognize me at some point as I have been buying stuff for YEARS. Here is where I take issue... I move over one aisle and the same woman asks if she can help me. Literally less than one minute from the last time she asked. Ummm no thanks nothing has changed since you last asked....45 seconds ago! Then I realize she is pacing around kind of watching me. This has happened before but I have always chalked it up to trying to be really helpful (yet sort of wondering if they are just watching me)... however this time it was so weird and I realized she is just watching me. It's like they thought I would steal or something. I felt so uncomfortable I made my purchase and left. I have encountered the owner at least 20x and she is always totally unfriendly. Then I get home and my conditioner is as hard as a rock... same stuff I have bought numerous times so I know what it should be like. The tag with the date on the package was a couple years old. I don't feel welcome or that my business is appreciated in any way so I will no longer be shopping here. Helpful tip for this business is pay attention. Get to where you recognize people, and say thank you at the end of the purchase. We should not be the only one to say thank you. read more

I went in as a walk-in for a quick trim and was told they had no availability, which was okay because I needed to pick up shampoo and conditioner anyway, but as I was walking away from the counter, another woman asked if they could take a walk-in and she was told yes. I just ignored this and went to the shelves that carry my brand and discovered that they had several products that were between 4 and 6 years old on the shelf. The manufacturers bottle says use by 12 months. The stores price tags have dates on them, I'm assuming when the product is placed on the shelf, and like I said, many had dates from 2012 and 2014. When paying $18 for an 8 oz bottle of shampoo I want it to be within the expiration date. It would also be nice to be treated decently by the cashier instead of glared at as if I was something on the bottom of her shoe. I was very polite to her and yet she refused to show any kindness. I will never return to this store. I live closer to Ulta anyway and the cosmetologists there are always very sweet and helpful, so they will get my business exclusively from this point forward. read more

I am a typical do it yourselfer and I am always trying to find people that have experimented with products I'm interested in. Well if your like me don't come to Laura's. I don't know the girls name but she wears glasses and is fairly younger then the other women that work there. She is extremely rude and when asked a question seems like she could care less what I was interested in and seemed as tho she wanted me out as fast as possible.
