If you're looking for a great value meal in Pacoima, this might not be the best spot for you. The setup is fast food-style: you order at a window, they prompt you for a tip on a tablet, and then drop your food off. The focus seems to be on serving the Spanish-speaking community, as the cashier didn't appear to speak English very well. The place has a casual vibe with a TV showing sports and a pool table, if that's your thing. I've been wanting to try tlacoyo ever since I had it on the streets of Mexico City, but this wasn't the version I had in mind. Their tlacoyo is deep-fried, not made with blue corn tortillas. It's a masa dough shaped like an American football and stuffed with beans. It's listed as an appetizer, and they'll ask if you want to add meat on top. The fried tlacoyo was delicious, and the meat was well-marinated and flavorful. However, I personally prefer the street tacos de asada at Taqueria Mi Ranchito in Sylmar or Tacos Mayos in Van Nuys, where I'm a regular and can get tacos de asada for just $2.50 each on handmade tortillas. At $22 for the tlacoyo appetizer (including the always awkward cringe tip request at the register), the prices felt steep for what you get, especially without table service. I won't be returning, as I feel the value doesn't match the cost. This food experience did not bring me back to streets of Mexico City where I first had my first bite of tlacoyo, so I'll be heading to Komal soon to try their artisanal heirloom blue corn version for just $9.50. read more

I had been waiting for this place to open, its very aesthetically pleasing for the neighborhood I'm glad to see a place that I could feel welcome coming to. The art is a nice touch along with the greenery. The service was good I wish they had more smiles and they welcomed us when we arrived. First impressions are important. The food was really good I had the mole cheese enchiladas they coke with beans and rice, we also had the chilaquiles they were also very good with a spice and nice crunch. To drink I order the banana strawberry smoothie, it was delicious and my bf had the watermelon water which was very sweet and refreshing.
