Yet I could see paper cups nearby. Initially I ordered a vegetable burrito from the young (14?) cashier. Language challenge pachencoed the question off her father and grandmother seated at the dining table in the kitchen! This music volume will be my earthly departure.... The father then conferred with two cooks in the kitchen returning a second time to me confirm beans - quac, pico de gallo etc. the abuela then asked to confirm no cheese - sin queso as l twice stated. It's against the law not to serve water in a cup if asked for right? There were no beans.... I returned to the counter: standby. The granddaughter, abuela and el chiefe conferred and agreed that I should get a side of frijoles. There's a reason I experienced this. Once I figure that out - I may have reincarnated. Overall the flavor was fresh and good - but ordering a vegetable burrito shouldn't require a committee. read more

I was so disgusted that I found a hair in my food I told the waiter and showed her. They don't really care about there customers. she apologized and ask if I wanted a box and take it to go. I still got charged for it. It was my favorite spot to eat but I will never go back to that restaurant again. read more

Don Carlitos is a small, but very valuable place. The food here is amazing, and along with providing the usual Mexican cuisine which can be found almost everywhere in San Fernando, they have very well made Salvadoran food. The pupusas are perfect and they have a good variety to choose from. The sopa de gallina is amazing and authentic and so is the yuca frita which is perfectly crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside. Service is the usual for small local places. It can be a bit slow if there's a crowd, but the food is made with love and is always worth any wait. read more

This is the best place for Pupusas in not only the San Fernando Valley but one of the best spots I've tried. The Pupusas are stuffed and huge and little masa. I did not expect this honestly. Their Yucca con Chicharrón also was delicious. I am picky when it comes to places and their Pupusas keep me going back. You must try their chicharrón Pupusas, zucchini, loroco, jalapeño or garlic Pupusas. Wow. read more

The strawberry raspado was not good! Solid chunks of ice (not shaved) with a strawberry jelly sauce-like substance. Also, the raspado leaked all over the table... even when I wasn't touching the cup. Maybe other raspado flavors are good, but I wouldn't try it based upon this one. Their sign out front advertises Raspados, but maybe it should hype something else. What happened to Don Carlitos?! Well, I found out they've been under new management since the start of this new year. It's too bad because this used to be my lunch and snack spot since it's so close to my office. The food hasn't changed much, but the people certainly have. I hope that the business owners here wise up and recognize that customer service is everything. Today I ordered a small bionico (fruit medley with yogurt, granola, and honey). I asked them to hold the raisins, strawberries, and melon because what I really wanted was more papaya in my bionico. I tell them it's okay if they pair the papaya up with banana and apples. I just wanted to substitute the papaya for the other fruits that I wasn't getting. When I pick up my order, I see it's toppling with banana. I ask the cashier if it has mostly papaya like I asked and she says it does. She gives me attitude at the same time (it was mild, but I caught it). I paid $5.75 for this thing. I get to my office and me being suspicious about the quantities, I divide the fruit into three bowls to compare measurements between the apple, banana, and papaya. I'm furious at this point because the bionico was mostly banana even though I had checked about this once when I ordered and again when I picked my order up. I called the establishment to speak with the owner who I know, or knew. The lady tells me it's under new management and she sounds annoyed by me. She tells me that the papaya wasn't ripe so they didn't add much. I proceeded to tell her that she and her workers need to be honest and upfront with their customers because paying almost $6 for banana is not ok. She deflected any responsibility and said maybe next time she can give me a discount. It bothered me quite a bit that she didn't apologize. Good food and good prices. When I went there, the person manning the front didn't speak English but I tried my best to use my old high school Spanish to order for me and my friends. I got just about everything I wanted but I wasn't able to ask questions and get the specific drink I wanted. It was still good but wasn't exactly sure what it was. It was empty when we went (a weekend day around noon) but it was nice. The place is small so I'm sure it would have felt crowded with only a few more people eating at the same time. The atmosphere was really nice and the server was really friendly. Would visit again for what I assume is pretty authentic Mexican food because of the price and quality of food. Our first time and definitely coming back for more! We wanted to give more local spots our business since moving back to San Fernando and this spot didn't disappoint. They young lady at the counter was very sweet and welcoming! She suggested the torta and pupsas so we got both and order the chicken flautas. Don Carlitos is a great little restaurant found among all the discotheques, bridal, and pawn shops that make up the San Fernando Mall. They offer great tortas (my favorites being the chorizo and the supertorta), aguas frescas (sandia's the best!), raspados, and my favorite snack of all time, bionicos (fresh fruit with cream, honey, nuts, granola, and raisins). This is a great place to go for a quick lunch, smoothie, or for other snacks which remind me of the great food I had in Guadalajara. Don Carlitos is now one of my regular stops and I'm very fortunate that this place is in San Fernando. read more

The place to get a torta in the valley. I get the Asada torta and it tastes great. The ladies put a perfect amount of mayo and a good portion of meat. The best part is the way they toast the bread to perfection. If your not that hungry, I recommend sharing the torta so you can try a smoothie. I never get to try anything else because I eat the whole torta and am too full to order anything else. I also recommend their aguas ( homemade ). read more

I love coming here on nice sunny days and having a torta de pierna and my favorite tosti locos. The orchata is also really good. They accept debit cards but charge you for the transaction wich i think is 50¢. The staff is friendly and your order is usually done fast. They have no restrooms so unload before you arrive. Prices are affordable and the food is delicious. read more

I went for the filled "churros" and "fresas con creama" and both were disapointing. Churros are pre-frozen and the filling is not real "cajeta".
